Are you tired of being told you need to "balance it all"? Career. Motherhood. Marriage. Ambition. Self-care.
In Balance is Bullshit, Loretta Soffe—former EVP at Nordstrom and executive coach—shares the real story behind modern success. Drawing from her rise from cashier to boardroom, her role-reversed marriage, and the moment she was fired at her peak, Loretta delivers no-fluff strategies to help women lead, grow, and thrive without losing themselves.
This book is - Women seeking purpose and clarity in their career - Working moms managing burnout - Entrepreneurs redefining what success means - Leaders balancing life, leadership, and legacy
Real stories. Tangible strategies. The book every woman needs in her 30s, 40s, and beyond.
If you're ready to stop chasing balance and start designing a life on your terms, this book is your blueprint.
Loretta’s subtitle may be a little misconstrued, as Loretta herself says very often in this book, this is not a road map, this is your journey to create.
Balance is BS is constructed as a learn, repeat, and relfect with questions at the end of every chapter. The intention is to have you work through what is important to you, and build the life you want.
That said this book is directed at people at the start of their marriage and career, and perhaps this is because she is writing linearly, starting with the early years, through the children years and out to the empty nesters
The truth is there is quite a bit of advice for those that are mid or end career, single parents, and empty nesters, but you have to get through the “perfect family” writing at the front.
And often at the end when the talk is of creating leaders out of children could be great advice to create leaders out of your junior team.
I really liked being in Loretta and Sam’s world, but feel the 20-30 somethings in the office would love this book the most.
I appreciated the author's candor and especially enjoyed reading the stories her kids and husband had to share. I would recommend it to anyone who feels alone in finding balance -because the author is right, balance IS bullshit.
