WARRIOR VEIL by WL BACH ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5/5

Warrior’s Veil is the third (#3) book in WL Bach’s Valor, Trauma And Redemption series.

Jake Hanlon is a homeless vet- a Navy Corpsman struggling to cope with memories of his time in action. When he is seemingly randomly attacked in a local park a local Police Officer Hannah Livingston steps in to help him. Once an Army MP, Hannah recognises Jake’s pain and is determined to support him any way she can. But when a brutal murder is discovered and Jake becomes the prime suspect Hannah has to wonder if Jake really is the hero she believes….

—————————

Warrior’s Veil is the third book in the Valor, Trauma And Redemption series but the first book by this author that I have read and I have to say I certainly wasn’t disappointed.

The story is very detail oriented ( at times perhaps a little overly detailed, e.g. the unnecessary description of Hannah’s neighbours pets- hence my 4.5 review), and it is clear that the author knows his stuff. The action scenes are superbly described and the reader feels like they are there in the depth of the action themselves. Descriptions of places, streets, ordnance etc helped bring the story to life.

The story jumps between 2004 when Jake is involved in multiple military actions that lead to devastating loss to 2022, where we learn how events throughout his past military career relate to his life now. Both characters are well written and we get a real insight into their past and how it affects their actions going forward. The suspense rates up there and how Jake’s past affects events currently is linked well

It is not a book for the feint of heart and injuries etc are graphically described.
It certainly highlighted the plight of veterans post service, PTSD/ homelessness etc.

The relationship between Hannah and Jake is left open at the end (which for my romantic heart was frustrating), leaving the reader wondering how they moved forward.

The book really did suck me in and had me wanting to know what was going to happen and at around 260 pages (ebook copy) I read this military thriller in a day as I couldn’t put it down. Therefore I highly recommend this book and will be looking out for more of this author’s work.

I am grateful to W.L.Bach for an early copy of this book. All comments are my own honest, unbiased opinion.

Real and powerful

If you've seen the elephant, you know it. Not all injuries are visible. You don't know what the person next to you has experienced, you just know they are your siblings from the military. You'll never find a civilian who is as close to you as a brother or sister from the military regardless of generation. The craft of the story was compelling reason to finish in one sitting.

I’ve enjoyed all three of WL Bach’s books. Warriors Veil is superb. Is is full of action and the characters are relatable. As a Montrose resident, I can attest that his descriptions of Montrose, Colorado are great, too.
