Beyond 2012: A Shaman's Call to Personal Change and the Transformation of Global Consciousness

Rate this book
James Endredy, noted writer, teacher, and practitioner of shamanism, offers a unique perspective on 2012―a message of genuine hope for humankind. According to Endredy, "every human being can be a shrine of love, an altar of hope" during this time of shifting global consciousness and radical change.  In this one-of-a-kind guide, Endredy consults the "First Shamans," Fire Spirit Tataiwari (Grandfather Fire) and Earth Spirit Nakawé (Grandmother Growth) for wisdom and guidance. Tataiwari and Nakawé reveal how the evolution of human consciousness, sustaining the earth, and our personal happiness and well-being are all connected.

Beyond 2012 offers a wealth of practical ways for each of us to personally help spark the transformation of human consciousness. Learn how your positive actions―reciprocity, compassion, love, and respect for the essences and energies that sustain life on our world―can help save the planet.

―Awaken your "luminous" True Self by entering non-ordinary states of consciousness
―Plant the seeds of transformation in global human consciousness
―Amplify positive energy by building altars and making offerings
―Reclaim, raise, and wisely use personal energy
―Use a sacred calendar to gain a new understanding of the nature of time and
    our role as co-creators

His book Ecoshamanism is such a classic and perhaps my favorite shamanism book, so I was disappointed in this. It's mostly a rehashing of stuff you can find on the Internet if you're in 4th grade. All the same old prophecies are nothing new and actually detract from his message and the message of his guide, Grandfather Fire, which is that even if the world is ending for humans, we still have to live correctly. That's a much more interesting message to me than rehashing prophecies any New Age of occult reader/researcher found in their early days. This is more of a psychology book than Ecoshamanism, which was so hands on. If you've studied any New Age thinking, this isn't worth your time. I give it a couple extra stars though for the nice altar using the four saplings.

My beloved younger sister highly recommended this book and once I found it, I did enjoy reading it. I had not previously read 'shamanic' books, but was very intrigued by the fact that this was not a 'doom and gloom' book about 2012. This read led to my reading other books that were written by shamans and I have also enjoyed them.

This book shares a wealth of information on how to live a meaningful, fulfilled life, gleaned from the many teachings of the native peoples in America and throughout the world. These are absolutely great words to live by!

Very interesting and provoked me to acknowledge something is indeed shifting significantly in our universe; Endredy provides some interesting practices to begin to make a significant difference.

Loved this book. Easy to get into and understand. Ties in a lot of the information about 2012 into a neat package, complete with a bit of an action plan for those who want one.
