He walked away from rodeo glory for a quiet life…but silence is the last thing he gets when she comes home for the holidays.
Cash Young has spent years chasing championship belt buckles on the bull riding circuit—and one too many nights wondering who, if anyone, would miss him—but now he's traded his career for house-sitting a friend's stunning Dog Valley home. His dreams of a cutting horse operation are finally coming into focus. His family? Slowly healing. His faith? Still a work in progress.
What he didn't plan on was Lark McClellan storming through the door with her little Yorkie and her big attitude and turning his time of peaceful healing and reflection completely upside down.
Home from college for Thanksgiving, Lark has a full finals stress, a forgettable ex-boyfriend she refuses to talk about, and a grandmother whose memory is slipping fast. She has no idea what to do with her life, though she's only one semester away from her college degree.
She knows Cash will be at the house, and he's as magnetic as he is irritating. He's infuriatingly easygoing, impossibly good at baking and cooking, and way too good at seeing past all her carefully constructed defenses.
But even as her older brothers descend upon them, Lark can't help but want a real relationship with Cash. She'll be home for a week, and then back for a full month over the Christmas holiday, and their heated clashes ignite sparks both are thrilled about.
As Cash falls hard for his best friend's younger sister and wonders if she'll finally be the one to put him first, Lark still wonders what her life is supposed to be.
With Cash's shadowed insecurities still haunting him and Lark's future up in the air, can these two guarded hearts learn to trust God…and each other? Or will their differences and the sacrifices that must be made to be together keep them apart?

This is a really good Christian contemporary cowboy romance. Taking place over the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve holidays, this wintery read in Wyoming was great to settle down with. Cash is house sitting for Lark’s family and she is back in town for the holidays. With some growing feelings for his buddys’ little sister, Cash is thrilled to find out that Lark doesn’t completely despise him. This is a sweet romance with faith, family, holidays, traditions, and more. As both Lark and Cash work to figure out what home means to them they grow closer together and make plans for the future. This family saga no spice romance was very much an even keel one and I’m excited for what this series has in store for us next. The romance is just kisses, intimacy level 1. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
I received an eARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Great story! Cash is a champion bull rider but the rodeo circuit no longer appeals—will anyone even miss him if he is not there? He really feels that God wants him to go home to Coral Canyon. So he and his cousin purchase a small ranch and Cash plans to retire to a quiet life and train cutting horses. Then Lark appears. After finals, Lark will be one semester from college graduation but does not have the heart to complete her degree. She comes home to Coral Canyon to check on her Grandmother and finds Cash house sitting in her family home. Things are no longer quiet! Being the youngest, Lark has always felt left out of the family and not seen. Cash sees her and his huge family welcomes her. But where will it all lead? I love the way Liz Isaacson explores the feelings of children that don’t really feel a part of a blended family because of age differences. I have followed these characters from the beginning and it always feels like getting back together with friends. If you like clean, inspirational stories about dedication to family and God—don’t miss this! You will love it!
Another great segment of the Coral Canyon, Young family. I love this family. You come to feel like you know them all. I cried when Cash met with his Daddy in Boston’s book. So much emotion in that young man. He remains the same in his own book as he tumbles into love. I love how the author weaves the faith of all her characters into their stories. We learn that there’s a difference between the state of gratitude and the act of thanksgiving. One is internal that only you know about, a feeling. Feelings are cheap. The other is a verb that requires action. If you don’t tell that you’re grateful and why, it’s a secret that you’re keeping to yourself. Unexpressed gratitude is perceived as ingratitude, unless you say the words. Truly a lesson we can all benefit from. I’m a little disappointed that this theme wasn’t carried on throughout the book. We do know that Lark feels free to say whatever it is she’s feeling, though. I am so grateful for the gift of words that the author shares with us in every series and book she writes to share with us. I loved this book and it kind of lets you hanging in anticipation of the next chapter to come. I highly recommend!
This was an opposites attract romance between retired rodeo champion, Cash Young, and Lark, who was the younger sister of Cash’s best friend. Both of them were facing their own set of personal difficulties and questions but they were facing them with their individual styles—Cash in his chill way and Lark with her more tightly strung impulsive way. This book was filled with some very special moments that underscore how much I have grown to love this fictional Young family that the book series is based on. My favorite was a moment when Cash, his cousins, Lark, and her brothers gathered to say grace before sharing Thanksgiving dinner. It was such a poignant moment and I was so moved by it and how unifying it was among the dinner guests; it truly felt like standing on holy ground. The author was careful to give new readers some background so this book could be read as a standalone but I strongly encourage new readers to begin at the beginning of the series so you can fully appreciate the recurring characters and the significance of the aforementioned “moments” if at all possible. Highest recommendation! I received an ARC from the author. All opinions expressed are strictly my own.
Family, food and romance, if that doesn’t add up to a great book, I don’t know what does. The story’s’ main character characters are Cash and Lark. And even though they have known each other, there was never any real chemistry between them that is until Lark came home to Dog Valley for Thanksgiving. Cash has been staying at her parents home while they are away on a service mission. Who knew opinions can change and sparks can fly so quickly. But they did and Cash and Lark are on a whirlwind relationship. This book is more about family, growing, and making life choices. There are a lot of characters, many you have met if you have read other books in the this series. They all have wonderful stories and eventually tie back into each other. The romance is sweet and charming.I will advise to not read this book hungry, Cash as an excellent chef and considering this is around the holidays there are lots of yummy food descriptions. It’s a rather long book, but will hold your attention throughout. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Cash Young is a former bull rider who has left behind the chaos of the rodeo circuit in search of a quieter, more grounded life. Now house-sitting for old friends at a peaceful home in Dog Valley, Cash is beginning to envision a future of his own after purchasing land with his cousin and planning a cutting horse operation. For the first time in years, life feels steady—until Lark bursts into it.
Lark arrives with a feisty personality, emotional baggage, and a deep sense of being overlooked. Like Cash, she has spent much of her life feeling as though she never truly comes first in her own family, a shared vulnerability that quietly binds them together. Their chemistry is instant and undeniable, fueled by Cash’s laid-back charm, surprising domestic skills, and an uncanny ability to see straight through Lark’s emotional defenses. As a brief holiday visit stretches into something longer—and as Lark’s protective older brothers hover nearby—their sharp banter and charged encounters slowly evolve into a deeper, more meaningful connection.
I loved this story. Cash is house sitting for Lark’s parents while his how is being remodeled. When Lark comes back home for Thanksgiving break, she is also staying at her parents’ home. I loved Cash and Lark, after meeting earlier it was so fun to see how sweet their relationship developed, how they both turned to prayer to figure out the best path for them. Liz Isaacson is the master writer of the best family stories, and I love how we hear about so many of the family from previous books. I love how there is some humor, sweet and swoony moments, and strong relationships and family ties, this is such a great story, I absolutely loved Cash and Lark’s beautiful story. Wonderful reading, you don’t want to miss it.
Cash is a book I’ve been waiting for, and it again did not disappoint, I love that Lark and Cash started off “almost enemies” but also thinking about each other non stop! I also loved the time with Larks brothers. Wondering if that can be another series to come!! I love getting peeks into what is happening with all the people from previous books. Liz does such a great job of giving us insight into future books, with out leaving us with a cliff hanger. This was the perfect match up for cash, and I love his relationship with his whole family, but his cousins who were “first marriage kids” is extra special. This is really a great read!! And I feel like could be read alone. But all the little Easter eggs for those of us which been here from the start is wonderful!!
No author creates family groups as masterfully as Liz Isaacson, and her Coral Canyon Cowboys series bears this out. The Youngs. The Whitakers. The Walkers. They show up and they’re loud. They’re in each others’ business. They’re A LOT, but they love fiercely and they open their hearts fully to each other and embrace every new person who joins their family with love and acceptance. I’ve loved every book by Liz Isaacson and look forward to seeing each of the characters find love and fulfillment, so watching Cash and Lark navigate the journey to happily-ever-after has been a real reading treat
I had an ARC for this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Fromer rodeo champion Cash walks away when God leads him home to Coral Canyon where he purchases land for a horse cutting operation and while it is being readied, he house sits for the parents of his friends. Their sister, Lark McClellan shows up for Thanksgiving and plans to return for semester break and they start dating, but she decides to quit school so Cash moves out. Touching continuing family saga featuring making decisions, confronting problems and finding solutions.
I absolutely love this series and this book. Cash and Larks story is so good. I was happy to see Cash get his HEA. These two are perfect together and so good for each other. This author has a way of writing a story that draws me in and makes feel a part of this big Young family. It was so good to catch up with all of them. I really look forward to Bailey's story.
This one was different than the others. It was more real. I found myself rooting for both of them to get together, then when something happened that gave a pause, my heart sank. When Lark said “Right or left”? And Cash said “left”. It made me glad that they had finally figured things out. The ending was perfect.
I was so excited to see that this book was available today on Kindle Unlimited. I have loved all the stories of this wonderful family and have been waiting for this book. It did not disappoint. I started reading it this morning and could not put it down. I hope there will be many many more books about the Young family and the next generations.
Cash and Lark faced personal issues but chose to support each other through them. They had some differences in their family dynamics and careers, but they worked through these challenges to build a stronger relationship. I enjoyed getting to know them and appreciated the updates I received from other family members.
Wonderful story of falling in love quickly between two people that didn’t get along when they first met. Both let the past affect their lives but come to understand the importance of trust, love, and putting each other first.
Absolutely loved this one! I have loved watching Cash find peace and him meeting Lark just really solidified his contentment with life. Loved them together. And as always, all the little check ins made my heart so happy.
I love all the books in this series, and I think this is my favorite. Cash is so cool, calm, and collected, while Lark is stormy and needs more confidence and steadying. I love them together. I was disappointed to reach the end. I wanted to keep reading.
Cash Young has retired from the rodeo and is back in his hometown, (sort of.) He is housesitting in a neighboring town for the parents of 2 close friends who happen to have a sister that Cash is very interested in.
The underlying feelings are real for both of them, but their recent interactions have had sparks flying! Is Lark really as annoyed with him as she seems? This is a fast paced, fun story of a blossoming relationship. I love the scene where the brothers show up and find Cash and Lark in the hot tub. The chapter with the cousins coming for lunch is great too. The bond they share is so precious!
As with the other books in this series, the large, Young family dynamics are truly amazing. Personally, I would love to be a part of the Young family myself!
