The Devil's Prisoner

Rate this book
The last thing I expected was to be held prisoner by an Irish mobster, but here I am.

My life was quiet. Okay, fine, it had grown stale, and honestly, after getting my heart stomped on by my cheating ex, I was content to fly below the dating radar.

Until one fateful night, taking out the trash changed my entire existence.

There in the dark alley behind the art gallery stood a handsome, dangerous man who harbored a bunch of secrets.

Now I was a witness to some of those secrets.

So, when the notoriously brutal Sullivan “Devil” O’Connell stole me away and kept me as his prisoner, I had to do whatever I needed to survive.

But as the lines between captive and captor began to blur, I was left trying to keep the Devil from also stealing my heart.

Writing with a whole lot of sarcasm and humor, mixed with a bit of Southern charm, Christy Anderson ain't no sweet tea kinda storyteller.

As an author of romance, Christy believes it doesn't always have to be hearts and flowers;
sometimes, it is dark and twisted, but romance nonetheless. She mixes terror, revenge, and a sliver of love and hope into stories about family, friends, struggles, blurred lines, and happily-ever-afters.

Christy lives in the beautiful mountains of
Eastern Tennessee with her husband and
152 cats (not really, but close), where she
enjoys writing one twist at a time.

I absolutely loved this novella! From the very first page, the chemistry between Cat and Sullivan leapt off the page and pulled me straight into their world. Their banter, tension, and undeniable pull toward each other made every scene feel electric. I loved how their dynamic wasn’t just about physical attraction — there was depth, vulnerability, and that delicious slow-burn spark even in such a short format.

The romance was spot-on, and the spice level was perfect for a novella — steamy enough to satisfy, but never overshadowing the story. Christy Anderson did a fantastic job balancing passion with plot, creating a captivating pace that kept me reading in one sitting.

Even though it’s a shorter read, it didn’t feel lacking. The stakes were high, the emotions felt real, and the ending left me both satisfied and eager to see more of these characters. The Devil’s Prisoner is the perfect pick if you want a quick, addictive romance with sizzling chemistry and just the right amount of danger.

The Devil's Prisoner is a short dark romance set in The Killing Hours World. But don't let the "short" part fool you cause Christy Anderson's way with words didn't make it feel like it was short. I enjoyed Cat and Sullivan's story so much I wished it had continued on. I was completely in love with both characters the way Cat cared for her best friend and her cat was so sweet and the way Sullivan melted around Cat was to die for. Overall if you're looking for a quick read with dark mafia vibes, Kidnapping and some hot chemistry be sure to pick this one up you'll enjoy every minute of it.

The Devil’s Prisoner is a novella about a woman named Cat who witnesses a murder and is subsequently kidnapped by the Irish mafia.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. While I’m not typically drawn to mafia tropes and haven’t read many novellas, I’ve been looking to broaden my reading horizons. I ended up rating this book 3 stars because, for me, the story moved a bit too quickly. I would have liked more depth, especially around the kidnapping, the development of the relationship between the characters, and the rivalry with the Russians. However, if you’re someone who enjoys a fast-paced read, this book will definitely keep you hooked and is one you can easily devour!

"THE DEVIL'S PRISONER" The characters pulled you right into this intense, intriguing, story dealing with danger, secrets, emotional turmoil, attraction, I thoroughly enjoyed their journey.
Cat Reed caught someone in the dark alley while taking out the garbage seeing something she shouldn't a very dangerous man with secrets she was suppose to witness.
Sullivan O'Donnell an Irish Mobster takes Cat as a prisoner for being in the wrong place seeing something she shouldn't have.
Cat & Sullivan even though the situation was dire there an attraction between the two, can they get a HEA definitely must read to see what happens.

This novella may be short, but it doesn’t skimp on intensity. Cat finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time and lands in the clutches of Sullivan “Devil” O’Connell, a man as dangerous as he is magnetic. What starts as a kidnapping quickly turns into a deliciously tense game of forbidden attraction, mafia danger, and sizzling chemistry.

I loved Cat’s sweetness and loyalty contrasted with Sully’s brooding edge, and the way he softened for her had me swooning. If you’re into enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and dark mafia vibes, this is a fast-paced read that will hook you from page one.

The Devil's Prisoner is the newest novella set in A Killing Hours world.
This one is Cat Reed and Sullivan "Devil" O'Connell's story. The wrong place at the wrong time puts Cat in a very precarious situation and in the sights of what may well be the most handsome man she's ever laid eyes on. At least until he kidnaps her! This short, fast-paced story packs a big punch in less than 100 pages. The Devil's Prisoner is a great introduction to this new to me author!

4.5/5⭐️
It’s my first time reading this author and it was fun to immerse myself in this dark romance. While there are definitely dark elements in this book, I totally enjoyed the banter between Cat and Sully.

Even their simple banter on names and nicknames were hilarious. Add on the Irish nicknames and love declarations, and I am totally gone for Sully too. I hope to read the other books in the series soon.

The Devil's Prisoner is such a captivating read. It IS a novella so it's shorter and tends to move faster. But that does not mean that it's cut short in anyway. I actually feel this story got me hooked from the beginning. I also enjoy mafia romance so it was right up my alley. This is definitely a different read than what I usually read from Christy Anderson but I still enjoyed all the characters and the development of the story.

Delightful quick read.
Its so much fun discovering new authors! This piece moved pretty fast, with just enough story to make a short read worth reading.
It opens almost into mafia chaos. Where the sweet and saucy meets big and dangerous.
He knows what he should do. She wonders if he will do it
A wee bit of heat, some drama, gun fire and a ex that no words can describe. Enjoy

My 1st book by this author and darn if it isn't panty melting hot. Sully and Cat didn't met in a conventional way matter of fact it was downright scary and being kidnapped isn't a good way to start things off, but the ending is heavenly. I'm glad I got the opportunity to discover this author and I'm looking forward to more of her 5 star books.

This book is part of the Killing Hours series. It’s a gripping Irish mafia /Bratva romance. It’s an action packed, dark romance that kept me on the edge of my seat! Cat witnesses something she shouldn’t, Sully kidnaps her and the rest is history!! I loved their chemistry. A very entertaining love story.

Cat and Sullivan have good chemistry. Sullivan falls in love with Cat quickly. It takes a while for Cat to fall in love. There is violence and steam. This is a prequel to a series. I like the other characters, especially Cat's best friend Maggie. I will be reading the other books in this series.

I needed so much more! I know this was a novella but it was a bit too choppy and didn't flow very well. The last 4 chapters were the most frustrating in this whole story. *I picked this up during a Stuff Your E-Reader event.

His Kitten
What Cat witnessed took her breath away but not nearly as much as the devastatingly handsome man who kidnaps her. Will Sullivan kill her or worse, will he let her go?!

This quick novella will have you wanting more of Sully and Kitten. Cat (Kitten) witnesses a murder by Sully and his Irish "family". Tying upblose ends means Cat is held prisoner by Sully whilst he tries to decide what to do with her. Things quickly progress in the story. I wanted another 10 chapters after this one. Also secretly hoping Maggie and Finn hook up but here's hoping. This is my first book by this author. I was rely impressed by her Gaelic usage too. Comhghairdeas Christy Anderson.
