It’s like the author just learned the words “foster” and “cultivate”
Decent tips, but super boring

This book was fairly basic which actually made it nice to read. It didn’t overwhelm me with complicated steps to follow and just focused on good basic communication skills like active listening. One thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the author would say things like, “your introverted nature can be a gift!”…just because I’m reading this book does not make me an introvert. I thought that assumption odd.
Another aspect that bothered me was this book focused so heavily on office-based co-worker communication and didn’t go over any other scenarios like speaking with family and friends or even clients.
Overall I felt the tone was very encouraging and great! I loved that there was a heavy focus on listening and showing empathy and consideration for the other person.
I enjoyed the tips for public speaking and networking.
I hope I don’t overthink my future interactions now and can just breathe and make communication feel natural.

How to Talk to Anyone was a decent listen as an audiobook, but overall it felt fairly basic. The advice is clear, approachable, and easy to digest—especially in audio format—but much of it covers familiar ground.
If you already have a solid grasp of communication skills, social awareness, or emotional intelligence, you may not find a lot here that feels new or groundbreaking. That said, the book does serve as a good reminder of principles we know but don’t always practice consistently, like active listening, body language, and genuine curiosity about others.
I’d recommend this book to someone who’s new to the idea of improving social skills, feeling rusty, or wanting a confidence boost. For seasoned readers in the personal development space, it’s more of a refresher than a revelation.

Practical and Encouraging for anyone facing social anxiety
One of my biggest challenges has always been social anxiety—especially when it comes to public speaking or talking in large groups. I’m not even an introvert, but those moments still feel overwhelming. This book gave me few practical tips to face those fears head-on. I especially liked the part about using introverted strengths and navigating awkward silences. The step-by-step tools really helped me feel more prepared and less nervous. If you’re looking for a self-help guide to feel more confident in conversations and everyday interactions, this book is a great place to start.

I found the book very interesting. It had lots of helpfull content. I like that it spoke extensively to Introverts also. I noted there were helpful exercises to practice on mindfulness, journalling and practicing how to give non verbal cues.
The word charismatic in the book title conjured up an image of some life of the party outgoing smooth talker but then the author explained the true meaning of the word as being relative and genuine. I would recommend the book for anyone who wants to practice building some more confidence socially and in their networking and professional lives.

A few helpful tips yet overall pretty basic and very redundant. If I had to break it down I’d say active listening and journalling are the two focal points, AL was mentioned at least 10-15 times in every chapter.

Rating it for usefulness for me, not so much the content. If you get a lot of social anxiety or freeze up in social or business interactions tips in this book could be helpful. I am not that person.

Parts didn’t apply to me at all, but I’m glad I stuck w it bc there were useful parts in the second half, esp regarding follow ups in strategic networking

A handful of good exercises and ideas but overall very basic advice. I also was hoping for more evidence based claims

Most of this seems like common sense, but it was a nice reminder and good for people who may struggle in social situations.

I liked it. Absolutely goes back to the basics but some good information in here for introverts trying to put themselves out there.

Fairly basic stuff and more based towards people who struggle with social anxiety and lack of confidence. Not bad with some helpful tips, but nothing new here and wasn’t quite what I was hoping for.

From a professional and leadership perspective, this audiobook offers a clear, practical refresher on the interpersonal fundamentals that underpin effective influence: confidence, approachability, attentive listening, and conversational discipline. These are not advanced executive communication strategies, but they are the core behaviors that shape first impressions, trust, and day-to-day interactions with teams and stakeholders.
The content is presented in a straightforward, actionable manner without jargon, making it easy to translate into workplace situations such as networking, one-on-one conversations, or cross-functional collaboration. While the material largely reinforces well-established principles rather than introducing new frameworks, it serves as a useful reminder that consistent execution of basics often drives real leadership effectiveness.
Narration is clear and professional, suitable for listening during commutes or between meetings.
Overall, this is a solid, accessible resource for professionals who want to sharpen everyday communication presence. Emerging leaders and individual contributors moving into people-facing roles will likely benefit most, while seasoned executives may view it as a concise refresher.

How To Talk To Anyone And Be More Charismatic is a great guide for an introvert with social anxiety to gain confidence in different social settings. My favorite tool from this book that helps with anxiety is the self-regulating techniques of Deep Breathing, enhanced with visualization. The 4-7-8 method and Box Breathing method are popular deep breathing techniques. Engaging the 5 senses aligns your mind and body, easing anxiety. I loved this chapter.
I liked the way each chapter covered a topic and gave practical tips, explanations, and tools to manage anxiety in social and digital communication (text message, email, etc).
Journaling and reflection are helpful ideas for growth. I would recommend this book to every introvert who wants to feel confident in every day communications and conversations.

For someone looking for new, earth-shattering insight specifically into how to be less boring/more engaging, this may not be the book for you. There are plenty of practices and examples here that are relevant to the title of the book (or the description), but there isn’t too much new or even reframed in a way that resonates differently than other similar works. Yet, there are still some practical takeaways – including anagrams like FORD or CAR and a mini-Guidebook in the final chapter – to help spark better conversations. Just don’t expect anything more than the feeling of a solid, credible coach reminding you of the advice you previously may have already taken onboard.

It was good, but pretty simple. A good starting point for folks but was hoping for deeper insights
