The Gods lost the battle, but their war followed us.
Greystone is nothing but a painful memory, and yet Tan'Malas, the Dark God, has found footing in this strange new land just as we did. Establishing a home with enemies to all sides is no easy task, yet there is no turning back. This time we will fight the Dark God head on and make sure no one takes our home away from us again.
The Order, a fanatical faction devoted to Tan’Malas, rules these lands with an iron fist. We will use them as a steppingstone and make sure that the people have a choice in who they worship and support.
With the girls at my side, Benny and Legs eager to taste battle, we will take on the entire world if need be. The embers of the Old Gods still burn within us, and we are dedicated to show the people of this new world that the Dark God does indeed bleed.
This book is also notable because it's nominally the conclusion of a three book arc, but is almost entirely seperate from the story told in the first two books, and ends in the middle of a narrative.
....which is this series to a T really. If the author says it's three books forming a single arc, of course it's actually a two book arc and then what seems to be half of a second two book arc. I would have been shocked at any other possible outcome; everything else is self-contradictory and confused, why not this?
(All joking aside, I feel sympathy for the author, who added a plaintive note at the end of the book about poor sales, and I get it, but dude: You have some great ideas, and you could be a great author, but you need to stop, take a deep breath, reread what you wrote, and just...write better. Words matter! Don't introduce a character or macguffin or subplot and then forget about it and never resolve it, or resolve it and then forget and reference it being resolved a different way a few chapters later! Think about the implications of the LitRPG mechanics you add, and then remember them and respect them in later chapters.)
Honestly the book and series is a really good concept so this is why I give it 5 stars.... but I tell ya, others who can't stand random inconsistencies like having the elf who has black hair be blonde on your cover or just randomly deciding hey this girl can be bonded but be with another man, to how slow Elvira and her relationship is growing.... there are countless other things, constantly finding perfect items to this is tough fight, OH wait they are weak to easy.... there is alot of frustrating things but... I enjoy the concept and hope it continues.
the characters are all three-dimensional, especially the harem. arguments and all, they mesh like a group of group of friends or even sisters. the plot has been well developed, with many changes from start to finish and believable character realizations. overall, I have greatly enjoyed the series so far. I hope to see more in this A series in the future. it is way better than any harem series I've read so far, and even better than the majority of fantasy novels as well.
I believe the story is just getting started and I am interested in seeing where it is heading.
I would say this is the beginning of a new arc in the story and a lot of things have changed in a very short time…as this book has a different feel and different goals then book one.
Many mysteries to solve and people to save so I would like to know what happens next.
I chose this rating as I thought if they got rid of some of the sex scenes and added a little more to the how they went through their upgrades to improve their capabilities would have made for a better book. Also would have like to seen a little more of the reasoning why Giovanni replaced Cade as his adopted heir.
Each book has a great storyline, MC that can stand alone, but all the supporting characters only add more excitement and adventure to each page you read. And as you get further into the story, you envision yourself being there. I'm waiting for the next book in the series. Your great writer Cassius Lange.
Book 3 is a solid modern fantasy/rpg book in a series which has turned out better than I expected. The goofy sidekicks are handled better than in many other books of the sort and the overall tone, while pretty dark, is lightened somewhat by not taking itself too seriously. Hopefully there's a 4th book.
Do you like Harems? Do you like high fantasy? Magic, swords, quests and levels ups? Well the heroes have level capped and are now working on end game content. It's a good story... With an enjoyable cast... Sadly there was less Legs, but Red was a good stand in. If you want something fun... That is a good escape... This is it.
This entire series has been very enjoyable. It is fast paced, filled with well done characters, action, you adventure, and more than a bit of spice. I really hope that the series continues.
Loved the read. Silly and serious at the same time.
Enjoyed the series Book 1-3, didn't rate 1,2 because I couldn't wait to continue reading. Great character, for a fun and enjoying read. Thanks for the journey. I hope it will continue into the future!
This picks up right where the last book left off, and I thought it was the start of a new arc, but it seems it's the conclusion of the first arc! That makes me new excited for the next book!
The story progressed a little fast, but it was well written and saw some mistakes but not enough to care. Really, I would like more and see how far the story goes
An absolutely fantastic book, fast paced and wonderful story. Excellent imagination and brilliant characters. A really good book. Well done.Gary Challenger from Devon UK.
A wonderful fantasy series full of wonderful characters, unique magic and lots of adult fantasy activities!!! I've personally really enjoyed the humor mixed throughout this series which has added such an enjoyable real life aspect!!!
I couldn’t put these books down litterally I read each in one sitting. They were a blast to read!! I love the story telling and the adventures into different worlds.
The author has created a bit of a different twist in this story. Their escape in the second book of this story brought them to their new home. It's not what and when they were expecting. Well worth reading, now we have to wait if he'll continue the story.
This 3rd installment is finally getting the main fight started it seems. Our main character Cade is getting stronger as well as his lovely ladies ( can’t wait to see what happens with Elvina) hopefully this gets enough support for another arc.
Overall the series has well rounded characters and an interesting story line. The action flows really well from one point to the next seamlessly and leaves you wanting more.
I really enjoyed this series so far and look forward to the next book! I hope the series continues for a while. I love how much character development went into the mc. I wish there was a bit more spice, buti am overall happy with the series!
Great story that does have an OP main character but he still faces Great odds with bringing peace to the land. I would definitely recommend this story!
