Such a fun little book of doodles and poetry. I got this book because I’ve been following the author on social media for a while - always adds a little smile to my day.

The book ‘Poem Boy’ contains a range of quick poems that are easy to read, and Aled has also illustrated them in a quirky cartoon style that adds to the poems. I like that the poems also make you think, quite often adding a bit of emotion and making you think of the simple pleasures in life such as nature or pets. Many of them revolve around being kind, which is something I think we need more of in the world. One type of poem I feel Aled Harris does really well is where he creates a shape out of the words, such as a duck or three dimensional cube. This adds an interesting twist to the poems, making them a visual as well as literary treat. All in all, ‘Poem Boy’ is an easy upbeat read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This little collection is such a delight! The poems are short, clever, and full of heart easy to read, but with a charm that lingers. Paired with the silly illustrations, they create a playful experience that works for kids, parents, teachers, or really anyone who needs a reason to smile.

I loved the mix of whimsy and warmth; one moment you’re laughing at goblins and frogs, the next you’re struck by how much joy can fit into just a few lines. A deceptively simple, well-crafted collection that I can see myself revisiting often.
