Dylan Davis is stuck—professionally and romantically. For five years, she has poured everything into building her boss’s stardom while her own dreams collected dust. She also couldn’t seem to hold a relationship long enough to celebrate an anniversary. Now, she is headed to Paris for six months with her nightmare boss, and about to spend yet another Valentine’s Day alone. The vision she once held for her future is fading fast . . . until a snowstorm and a delayed flight change everything.
Brixton Ellis has the life people envy—money, cars, and a lucrative career as the ghostwriter for some of music’s biggest names. But lately, it all feels empty. He is beyond tired of pouring his gift into artists who never deserved his words. Although he isn’t satisfied with his quality of life, Brick has no plans of making a change—until he runs into Dylan. Before her mother remarried and took her away from their hometown, Brixton was sure Dylan was the girl he’d marry. Thirteen years later, fate brings them back together.
Will Dylan and Brixton continue living lives that no longer fit? Or will they risk it all for a love that could be everything they’ve ever wanted?
Verse Two was such a beautiful second chance story! Brix and Dylon were best friends first before their young love was ultimately cut short. Years later, a chance encounter in the airport led to their rekindled relationship and they were “all gas, no breaks”. It all happened so fast but I feel like they didn’t want to lose out on more time apart. It’s not a Jaimsss P book if the MMC isn’t speaking with intention and dropping swoon-worthy quotes throughout the story and baby Brix was a man on a mission and he made sure Dylon understood how he was stepping behind her. I loved it and I am hoping Marc and Wilder are next! 👀
The second chance of a lifetime. This was a sweet story of teen love finding its way back years later—and the spark was still very much there. The romance moved fast and wasn’t the most fully developed, but it’s crystal clear these two were meant to be. He almost fumbled his one true love, but fate stepped in to save him.
Overall, it’s an okay read. I would’ve loved to see a little egg on her old boss’s face (petty satisfaction is a love language), but hey—you can’t have everything. With more development, this could’ve been something truly special
Very insta-love, “it was always you”, pick up where we left off kinda second chance romance. The author says that their story moves quickly and there’s not much character/plot development due to the short length of the book. With that said though, I think you still got a good sense of the character’s personalities and how much they meant to one another. Now, I liked Brixton but he almost fumbled Dylan twice in the short time that they had reconnected so my chest was a little tight for a small portion of the book. BUT my man redeemed himself big time 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. This was such a feel good story. I loved them together and enjoyed seeing how they supported one another in working towards their dreams.
I have been waiting for another Jaimsss P book since Faize. The story was Everything. I loved it held my interest from the beginning to the end. Brixton and Dylan were grad school sweetheart, that never forgot about each other or the love they had for one another. One chance encounter can make or break them. Brick knew what and who he wanted and he definitely applied all the pressure. I don't want to give to much away. I definitely recommend reading this book. I look forward to reading more about them in Marcellus and Wilder's book (hint, hint).
Lashontae, girl was trouble of the worst kind, and Brick was not smart for lying because we all know lies have a way of showing themselves in the most inconvenient ways. I liked Dylan even though she stayed with Maria way longer than she should have, but she had a great friend in Wilder who is hilarious by the way.
This was a cute read! Them reconnecting from a teen love to now was cute. The chemistry was still there and followed well. I would have like to see how the ex was handling it. Just how she was acting I feel like she would have Spax out a little more lol. But overall it was a cute read!
Picking up where they left off - Dylan and Brick were able to get their happy ending after reconnecting for the first time since middle school. Liked how they supported each other’s career goals and how Dylan did not make it easy for Brick when it came to LaShontae and her antics. Would like to see what happens with Winter and Marcellus since they were feeling each other.
Loved, loved, freaking LOVED!!! I love when the title actually goes with the story. It was a play on more than one thing with this couple! Brixton and Dylan were everything. Marc and Wilder got next, yes?! 🙏🏽😩🥺
This was a great read. Fill almost made me want to strangle her with her foolishness. We are too grown to be jumping to conclusions and listening to outsiders. Brick knew what he wanted and let it be known from the jump. Loved the book. Definitely a must read
A wonderful second chance love story The characters were relatable and supported each other There is minimal drama and some laughs but lots of love Another great one Jaimisss I always enjoy your stories
This was such a cute fluff read. Just the right amount of spice and drama. This is the type of second chance romance I like. When things are just out of your control. It’s a novella so it’s giving insta love but I didn’t mind. I’d recommend for sure.
