Under the brightest lights, I’m supposed to be unshakable—captain of a brand-new hockey team, single dad to a boy who’s the mirror of the wife I lost, and son to parents who think love comes with instructions. But the truth is, I’m cracking under the weight of expectations I can’t seem to meet. I’m desperate for something—anything—that feels like peace.
Then I meet Tucker. Flannel-wearing, steady-eyed, and achingly patient, he trains service dogs for wounded veterans—and somehow, he sees right through me. One visit to his puppy-filled facility is all it takes for my son to light up... and for me to feel something I haven’t in my racing mind to calm.
When I finally let my grief spill free, Tucker doesn’t just listen—he holds space for it. Holds me. And suddenly, I’m thinking about him everywhere I shouldn’t. But letting him in means challenging everything I thought I knew about myself—and risking a chance at something more than just the next game.
Tucker
I walked away from my career in law enforcement after losing two partners in the line of duty. Now I keep my world small—just me, my staff, the dogs we train, and the veterans whose lives they change. Publicity isn’t my thing, but when the Hydras hockey team offers to sponsor a service dog, my nonprofit needs the boost too badly to say no.
I wasn’t counting on meeting Sebastian. Gorgeous, driven, hopelessly devoted to his son... and carrying a grief I recognize in my bones. I know better than to fall for a straight guy, but every time he looks at me like I’m his safe place, my defenses crumble.
Our connection is fierce and fragile all at once—something that could shatter when faced with the scars we both hide. But maybe, if we’re brave enough, this time the temptation is worth the heartbreak.

I’m absolutely loving this series, and Temptation On Ice was such a standout read.
It has one of the most adorable meet-cutes I’ve ever read… there may have been a little swooning involved! It’s a wholesome story, full of heart and sweet moments that just made me feel good while reading.
While it did tug at my heart at times, love after loss is a trope that always hits hard for me. Adrian wrote those emotional scenes so beautifully that I felt like I was healing right alongside the characters.
Such a beautiful, heartfelt story about finding love after loss. Can’t say the authors style of writing was my favorite BUT I did indeed cry so I guess she has some of a way with words 🥺 RTC :)
— i can never limit myself on quotes i fear
“Yeah, hell will freeze over before a professional hockey player looks at me any kind of way.”
“My stomach contracts and my chest expands with a feeling I haven’t experienced in a long time, and it confuses the hell out of me. Does his approval make me what—giddy or something? Is it how he said my name?”
“Besides, if he’s gay, he’d probably have a thing for Monty after getting wrapped up in that leash with him. You can’t be pressed against all this muscle and not think about it.”
“We take comfort in each other in a way only survivors of the same grisly tragedies can. We’re two broken men who found solace in each other, and I gave him a place to feel the emotions, name them, and we can receive comfort from each other while we fight our demons back-to-back.”
“He made me feel seen. He even understood what I’ve been through like no one else has. He let me unload my pain and didn’t tell me to forget about it, to get over it, and move on, like everyone else has. He just gave me space to grieve what I lost and gave me his support through a hug that said way more than words ever could. It felt… really fucking good to be held by someone strong enough to support me, physically and emotionally.”
“I’ve never wanted to trade places with a dog so badly. I’d drop to my knees and bark like the good dog I am so fast to get him to hold me like that. He’s sitting on the floor, cradling the puppy in his arms as it licks his neck. Fuck, I’d lick his neck, too.” (🤣🤣)
“Do you want to be my good boy, Sebastian?”
“Look at you, already comfortable stroking your cock with another man watching and asking him to do the same. You really are a temptation of the highest order. I’m going to have to be careful with you, aren't I?”
“This is the strangest fucking thing I’ve ever experienced in my life, and I never saw it coming. I never saw you coming.”
“It feels like Eliana’s been guiding me toward him. First, the puppy wrapping us up at family day, when I was thinking about how much she would have loved it. Next, the beautiful sunset over the pond, when I felt myself being pulled to open up to Tucker, which resulted in his massive arms wrapping around me, that led to my urge to kiss him.“
“I’m better now that I have my guy with me. Nothing hurts as badly when I’m in his arms.”
“I want you in the quiet moments out in the woods, where we can just be ourselves, and I want you loudly, publicly, where everyone can see how I feel about you. I just want you, Tucker. Let me have all of you.”
“He makes me feel like I can do anything, overcome the insurmountable, and be anything, as long as I have him by my side.”
“I’ve been yours since you caught me on my knees on the dock at sunset and held me together as my world fell apart. I’ll be yours as long as you’ll have me.”
“You’re a goddamn temptation on ice, baby,” — “It’s not temptation if I’m a sure thing, is it?”
“It took finding a man who made me feel that same warmth and happiness to realize sunshine could be found in human form. His quiet and stillness bring peace to my racing mind and let me rest. His arms hold me up when I’m breaking down. His kiss brought me back to life. He’s the one I think about first when I wake up in the morning, and he’s the last thing on my mind at night. I’m in love with a man who makes me feel more like myself than I have in years, and it’s so beautiful to have that again after losing the person I thought was going to be my partner for life.” (CRYING HELP)
“I’ve felt Eliana guiding me toward Tucker from the moment I met him. Every interaction felt orchestrated perfectly with her touch, so I’d know she approved and wanted me to move on with a man who was made for me. As usual, she was right, and I know she’d be gloating right now to read that. So, thank you, Eliana. He’s perfect. Enzo and I both love him.” (Like i cant)
“You called me Pup again, and you give good hugs. I knew it. That’s why you're a good boyfriend for Daddy. He needs hugs just like this.” (Enzo🥹)
“You’ve been my sunshine and warmth since I met you. You’ve made me feel more like myself than I have in years. Safe and good enough all at once. I love you.”
“So that’s what love feels like. It feels even more life-altering to hear the words from his mouth, staring into my eyes, as he brands my soul with the sentiment I’d only dreamed of hearing from someone like him someday.”
“I love you, too. Fuck, that’s crazy to say out loud.” — “I didn’t expect you to ever look at me as more than a friend, let alone love me like this. I’m kind of lost here.” — “Let’s get lost together.”
“Another perfect sunset that Eliana would have loved, and I get to share it with Tucker now. Yeah, Eliana, I’m happy. Thank you for sending me the other love of my life.”
“You really are a temptation on ice.” — “You're the temptation that disrupted my whole life. You tore apart what I knew, brought down my walls, and revealed everything that was missing just by walking into my life with that fucking puppy.”
“Tucker Covington, you’re my sunshine and everything good in my life. You're not a black cloud. Keep breathing and being enough just as you are, got it?”
“I’d put you in my bones and wear you around if I could. That’s how close I want to be to you at all times. So, yeah, I fucking want to live with you, baby. I love this place almost as much as I love you. From the first day I visited, it’s felt more like home than any other place has. I’m more comfortable and at peace when I’m here than anywhere. The best part is, it’s where you are.”
“Mr. Tucker, you call me Pup, and I want a special name for you. Can I call you Daddy, too? That’s the most special name I can think of.” (LIKE STOP!!!)
“I’m saying I want you to be mine, forever. To be my husband. To be Enzo’s dad. I want to combine our last names in some weird hyphenate that will be way too long and amazing. I want to sit on this dock while you fish in the summers, and listen to your hunting stories because that’s not for me, but I’m all about how manly it makes you anyway. I want you to teach our boy all the things that will make him just as amazing and empathetic as you are, because there’s no one else I want him to be like when he grows up. What I want more than a Stanley Cup win, more than a long hockey career, more than all the professional highs and records in the world, is for you to be my husband.”
“You’re perfect. Everything you said was exactly what I wanted to hear. Yes, I’ll marry you, even without a ring. All I need is you.”
“You are everything. More stunning than any sunset, warmer than summer sunshine, and you taste like fucking heaven. How’d I get so lucky to find you?” — “I could ask you the same thing. I didn't think a man like you would ever want me.”
“I don't just want you, I fucking need you, baby. You've become my best friend and make my life a million times better just by existing.”
“My lupacchiotto. I’ve loved and lost and know how precious time is. I’m not wasting a moment that I can be your husband, thinking it’s too soon or someone’s going to have an opinion about what I’m doing. The only thing that matters to me is your happiness and making sure I’m a part of your life.”
“He’s always looked at me like I’m a source of strength, that everything I’ve been through made me someone he could rely on and connect with, rather than someone too damaged to function. He lets me see him at his weakest and never shuts me out or puts on a front that he’s doing better than he is. He’s always met me where I am, in whatever stage he’s at, and that was good enough for us both. He’s taught me that life can still be beautiful even when you've lost your way and don't know who you are anymore.”
“The end of one thing isn't the end of everything, and sometimes, it’s the temptation right in front of you that's worth putting everything on the line for.”
“Let’s go chase that sunset, the three of us, so Enzo knows how beautiful the end of something can be, and how it’s also the start of something new.”

Oh this book was everything I loved. MM hockey romance, slow burn, single dad, sexually fluid awakening. Plus so many dogs 🥹
Both of the mmc's were great, each with their own trauma and I loved how they healed together. I found it really refreshing and heartwarming that once Sebastian realises his feeling for Tucker, he's all in, no hesitation or awkwardness about wanting to be with a man for the first time.
The spice is hot, it's quite a slow burn but once is hits it really hits. There was a great mix of angst and witty banter, text conversations, and a found family dynamic with teammates. Just a really satisfying, feel good read with depth and heat. I can't wait for the next one!
Sometimes life brings you to the right person when you’re at your lowest, someone who reminds you that love can heal and make you whole again. This book is exactly that.
Both main characters come from broken pasts. Sebastian, a hockey player still grieving his wife while raising his son, and Tucker, a trainer of service dogs, carrying the weight of his own pain. When their paths cross, it’s emotional, healing, and downright beautiful.
OMG, this book wrecked me in the best way. Every word that comes out of Sebastian Montenegro’s mouth had me screaming. The chemistry between these two? Absolutely electric. The spice is slow burn to burning! Istg I didn’t know if I was going to melt, scream, or pass out every time Sebastian opened his mouth 😭🔥
Seeing Ryder & Knox (the goldfish daddies!) are happily married made my heart so full. Also, can we talk about the women in this book? They are phenomenal strong, supportive, and savage in the best way. I love how Cami always has her brother Tucker’s back, and how Sebastian’s mom is so supportive of him too.
And don’t even get me started on baby Enzo he’s the sweetest sunshine to these two boys! I love him so much, and now I just want more. I’m already excited for what’s next!
If you love single dads, hockey, found family, and dogs, this book is a must-read. It’s heartfelt, emotional, and full of warmth. Highly recommend! 💜
Temptation on Ice is a stunning story that beautifully explores deep love, grief, comfort, understanding, and trust. It’s emotionally captivating while also being fun, steamy, and irresistibly sexy.
What truly stood out to me about ToI was how the main characters, Tucker and Sebastian, held space for one another during their most vulnerable moments (physically, emotionally & figuratively). When Tucker experienced bouts of PTSD, Sebastian grounded him, reminding him that he was safe and present. And when Sebastian was overcome by grief and self-doubt, Tucker was there to remind him of his strength; reassuring him that everything would be okay and reminding him of all the incredible things he had accomplished, both as a devoted single dad and in his career. It was incredibly moving to witness two strong men (both physically and mentally) allow themselves to be vulnerable, and instead of being judged, they celebrated each other for their strength and resilience. Additionally, the side characters also added so much heart and warmth to the story. Enzo, Cami, Rook, Ryder, Callum, and the rest of the crew brought genuine joy to every scene they appeared in, and I couldn’t get enough of their dynamic with Tucker and Sebastian. I’m so excited to see more of them in the upcoming books!
A huge thank you to Adrian for the opportunity to read Temptation on Ice before release day! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next!
Adrian has don it again 😍 I really love the way Adrian writes her books 📚 She captivates the readers and you just want more ❤️
In this book we gets to meet Sebastian, he’s a singel dad after his wife died giving birth to their son Enzo 4 years ago 😢 He meets Tucker, that training service dogs 🐕🦺 when his company will work with Sebastian’s hockey team 🏒
This book is fantastic and at the same time very sad 😢 Both man has there own problems and issues that they are working on and Sebastian also has to deal with the feelings that he has for Tucker ❤️ It is all new for him and he struggles with it.
This book handles some very heavy topics like lost of a partner and sexual awakening, but Adrian handles them with care and respect ❤️
So if you like ❤️
💚 MM hockey romance 🧡 Single dad/widower 🐕🦺 Sexually fluid awakening 🏒 Slow burn 💚 Different worlds 🧡 Connection through grief 🐕🦺 Strangers to friends to lovers 🏒 Love after loss 💚 Workplace romance
This book is for you and I highly recommend that you read it ❤️
I received an ARC and are leaving this review voluntarily 🥰
I didn’t hate this book—but it definitely wasn’t my favorite.
What I did enjoy was how Adrian Hale handled the theme of grief. The way the characters processed their loss felt real and well-written. I also absolutely loved the father-son duo—seriously, the dad sticking up for his little boy was so wholesome and heartwarming. He was supportive, protective, and such a great dad to read about.
What didn’t work for me was the sister subplot. She just kind of popped in, acted unhinged, and then disappeared without any real resolution—it felt disconnected from the rest of the story. Some of the drama also felt a little immature; it had more of a high school vibe than a story about adults in their 30s, especially in how some of the characters reacted and interacted.
Overall, it wasn’t bad—I liked the concept and the emotional core of the story—but the execution just didn’t hit for me. I think with a little more editing and development, this could’ve been something special. I enjoyed parts of it, but it’s not one I’d revisit.
Sebastian and Tucker are broken boys who've experienced some of the deepest grief one can imagine. When they meet, they are both still struggling in their own ways. They become friends and open up to one another. Slowly, they become lovers as Sebastian discovers his capacity to be attracted to Tucker. The emotions this book evokes are painful, but it will put you back together even better. It's also sweet, and features some absolutely amazing characters. This is definitely a book I'll be rereading.
I freaking really enjoyed. The rating is because there were a few moments that were kinda cringe to me that threw me off my reading. Probably nothing big for people, but it is cringe to me so that took points off. Other than that it was a good story. I loved how the MC’s were there for each other during hard times. I loved their love. I love the possessive parts, I even enjoy the paparazzi. The team was good and I can’t wait to see who’s next.
My need to knows
Dual POV No cheating/sharing No om/ow drama Yay for diverse side characters with possible future books Relation before spice
I really wanted to love this book and it felt like I was going to right up until the romance started and then it all changed. I don’t really know why but as soon as our two MMC’s Sebastian and Tucker started hooking up, I feel like they lost all their spark and their chemistry.
It felt like I was reading a completely different book. The pacing was suddenly off, the dialogue became quite cringey and straight up unrealistic and I just found myself really not wanting to read on. I did carry on and finish but it did feel like a bit of a chore and I’m really sad about it!
I really enjoyed the first part of the book but unfortunately, the rest fell flat.
I reckon it could be a me thing with this book so read it and make up your own minds!

Thanks to Adrian R Hale for providing me with an advanced copy of this book!
I was expecting more from this book based on the summary. I have never read this author before but I just thought from the synopsis that this would be a different book than it was. I just feel that there were some aspects that were sped through rather than explored - While I still am not a fan of high angst, I was expecting some deep feelings here that I did not feel.
🐕🦺🏒I see you and I still want you for all that you are without any reservations🐕🦺🏒

This was such an amazing book and sequel to Reckless on Ice. I'm excited that this will be a big series and can't wait to read more about these hockey players. This book was a slow burn, but when the spice happened, it was spicin and so hot 🔥🔥🔥🥵. This was a strangers to friends to lovers bi awakening story. The author fleshed this book out perfectly. This was quite the emotional book with a lot of loss and grief. Where two men come together to support each other and heal and find love together. I thought this book was written beautifully.
This story follows Sebastian and Tucker. Sebastian is the captain of the Hydra hockey team. We met him in the last book vaguely. He is a single father and a widow. He's having a hard time juggling life and trying to be the perfect dad by himself. He doesn't date and he thinks he's straight until he meets Tucker 😏. Tucker is a retired K9 officer and now trains service dogs for veterans and other people. His business gets picked up for a campaign for the Hydra hockey team. Once these two men meet, it's fate. They develop such a strong friendship while also being attracted to each other.
I loved the relationship between these two. This friendship was so easy. They both opened up about their past trauma and struggles. Tucker was such a light for Sebastian since he never can open up to anyone about losing his wife. Sebatian is the oxygen in Tucker's lungs when he can't breathe and has his panic attacks. These two were so sweet, romantic, funny, and sexy together 🥵🥵. The dirty mouth on Sebastian was 🥵😏😌. They both had a few hiccups along the road but figured it out quickly. I loved how easy it was for Seb to accept his new sexuality and how easy he went with it.
Enzo was the cutest kid and sucha bright light and so humble. It was so sweet seeing him with Tucker 🥹🥹. Ok these side hockey characters! I need books for them all. Why do I feel like Campbell and Rooks can be an enemies to lovers troupe? And Westy! I need that man book now 😍. I can't wait for more of this series. Highly recommend.
“The end of one thing isn’t the end og everything, and sometimes, it’s the temptation right in front of you that’s worth putting everything on the line for.” . .
I have so much to say, and even then, I don’t think I’ll be able to do Temptation On Ice justice.
Tucker Convington is a former police officer/K9 trainer who has since retired and opened Combat Companions. He’s an openly gay man who is learning to live and navigate life with PTSD.
Sebastian Montenegro is many things. A widow, a father to the ever-so adorable Enzo, and captain of the Atlanta Hydras. Despite losing his wife several years ago, he still struggles with grief and trying to be the best father to Enzo.
To fund their operations, Combat Companion partners with the Hydras to donate a puppy and help veterans. A meet and greet puts the two on each other’s radar and instantly sparks fly. However, Tucker is determined to guard his heart after several bad situationships. But when Seb Montenegro sets his mind to something, he is stubborn, relentless, and hell bent on changing his “lupacchiotto affamato’s” mind.
To me, Temptation is so much more than a hockey romance. It’s a tribute to the beauty of men’s mental health and being in touch with one’s feelings. To see grown men feel safe enough to articulate their feelings. To be able to cry, comfort, and be openly affectionate with another man (straight, gay, bi, or otherwise) is powerful. It’s a message that I believe now more than ever is needed.
Furthermore, the discussions surrounding grief, survivor’s remorse, and coping mechanisms have been handled with the utmost care and sensitivity.
As I read through TOI, I found myself crying, cackling at the banter, and getting curious about other characters as well. From will I be seeing more of Callum, what’s going on with Westy, and who’s next Hydra I’ll fall for? It was genuinely a refreshing read where a hockey hottie and country cutie managed to steal my heart.
With no shortage of spice, banter, and hockey romance goodness, Temptation on Ice is a fabulous installment to the Gods of Ice series.
Tucker and Sebastian could not be any more different. Sebastian is a professional hockey player, widower, single dad, who lives in the city and relies on a nanny and chef to help him every day. Tucker owns his own dog training business and works to train dogs for veterans. His business is small and in the country. Tucker is also a retired policeman. He is gay and hasn’t been in a relationship in a long time. They meet because Tucker is training the hockey team’s puppy and team mascot. What they do have in common is grief. The kind that never leaves, it sits in your heart and soul and affects not only your everyday life, but it prevents you from moving forward. Sebastian feels as if he would be cheating on his deceased wife if he were to enter into a relationship with another women. He’s constantly beating himself up for not being good enough. Tucker’s PTSD comes from his time as a cop. He also suffers from panic attacks. At any time, he could have a flashback. Together these men have a chemistry that can’t go unnoticed. Before the chemistry though, they have a deep friendship. The kind where you can talk about your fears and experiences, and everything that ways you down. It’s beautiful unchartered territory for both of them. There are only two obstacles in their way. One, Sebastian has never even considered the fact that he could be bi. The other is Tucker is afraid of being hurt. This is a sweet, sexy, and steamy love story where they have to take things slow. Tucker doesn’t want to be a secret or a one-time thing. He wants it all. But, can he trust that Sebastian knows what he wants? Love is delicate, kind and patient when you’re meant to be. It’s holding each other and watching the sunset, it’s letting go so you can enjoy the present, and it blooms when you’re least expecting it. For readers of slow burn (not too slow), opposites attract, single dad, grief this is a story you don’t want to miss! Thank you Adrian for writing another book that I could not put down.

(Cue tiny humans and confused puppies.) Sebastian is trying to raise his son after losing his wife, but can’t shake the feeling that he’s failing. Tucker carries his own hidden scars from years in law enforcement. What starts as a business connection quickly turns into a deep friendship as they navigate their grief and find peace in each other.
Get ready to ugly-cry every time you see a sunset! After Reckless on Ice, I knew this wouldn’t be just another hockey romance, but Adrian takes a trope we love returning to and turns it into a measured, beautiful story of grief, healing, and the impossible pressure to “just move on.” Sprinkle in the intricacies of a sexual fluidity awakening, a kiddo who accepts as easily as he loves, and the pressures of the celebrity spotlight, and you have one of the most emotionally riveting romance books of 2025. Prepare to laugh, cry, and fall wildly in love in a single, glorious binge.
Note: Temptation on Ice is book 2 in the Gods Of The Ice series. It can be read as a standalone, but you will get a few character spoilers if you skip book 1.
❤️ If you’re chasing the quiet intimacy of Broken Alpha by Everleigh Fox, Temptation on Ice is a hat trick you won’t forget.
4.5 stars POV: You think you're just picking up a fun and spicy MM hockey romance, and instead your heart is cracked wide open and you're completely swept up in an emotionally raw and vulnerable love story. I should have expected nothing less from Adrian! Her stories are always the perfect blend of heat, romance, and raw emotion, and you just can't help but be totally hooked on them. Temptation on Ice is a slow burn, MM romance about connecting through grief, and finding love after loss - with the most unexpected person. Sebastian is the captain of the Atlanta Hydras hockey team, a widowed single dad, and a City Boy who never feels he's doing enough. Tucker is a sensitive and traumatized ex police officer, founder/owner of Combat Companions (a charitable org that matches service dogs with veterans battling emotional and physical traumas), and a good ol' Country Boy. These two are wrapped up (literally) in each other from the jump. Their chemistry is blazing from their first interaction and the tension steadily builds throughout the book. It's a true slow burn, but once they got there they couldn't keep their hands off each other and the spice definitely delivered. The way their relationship grew was so beautiful and heart wrenching to witness. They really wanted to be the others' person, and that had my heart in a puddle. I absolutely loved Sebastian's sexually fluid awakening, and that he just went with the flow. I got strong found family vibes by the end of the book too. I can't forget about the supporting characters - I needed more of Nico + Scotty! Their banter had me cackling. Cami was a firecracker, Enzo was freaking adorable, and then we're dropped into a situation with Westy that left me intrigued for book 3!
This is a hurt comfort story between a widowed hockey player and support dog trainer. For years, Sebastian has been just focused on hockey and raising his son after losing his wife unexpectedly. He’s never really completely dealt with all of his grief. Tucker is an ex cop who also saw trauma on the job and loss. He lives in an isolated area and focuses all his time and energy on training support dogs for those who need them.
When the hockey team partners with his training school to adopt a puppy, these two have their meet-cute. And as they start to spend more time together as friends, Tucker seems to be one of the only people who can get Sebastian to talk and understand his pain. So they become friends, bond over past traumas, and more and more Sebastian is surprisingly becoming attracted to Tucker and having a bi-awakening.
And Tucker‘s had it bad from the beginning because Sebastian is just his type, but he’s also been used by sports types before who were just trying to experiment. So Tucker‘s heart is guarded.
This is all new for Sebastian, but he seems to be the one who keeps pushing them to try to explore more and more. I actually really liked these two together. They were mature and they had an understanding of what it’s like to love something and lose it. There’s just this connection that seems to develop fairly easily for them. They just have to get through all the fears, guilt, and confusion about it all.
It dealt with a lot of deep emotions, but overall, it is also a heartfelt and inspirational read about finding a connection when you least expect it. I liked all of the side characters and the single dad, found family, and hurt/comfort aspects, as well as the hockey and support dogs.

Oh, man! My ovaries!! 🥹 Puppies! An adorable kid!! A grumpy country man!!! A single-dad hockey player?!?! Adrian Hale needs to include some kind of contraception with this book! 😅😅😅
I don’t know why this book hit me so hard in the feels. Tucker is a service-dog trainer who has partnered with the Hydras hockey team to sponsor a team mascot. Sebastian is the hockey captain and a single dad to a four-year old who LOVES dogs.
Tucker and Sebastian quickly become friends after recognizing trauma in each other. Tucker is an ex-K9 officer who had multiple traumatic experiences that lead to him medically retiring. Sebastian is still grieving the sudden death of his wife after she gave birth to their son, and all of the drama that goes with being a single dad.
Their love story effortlessly flowed from strangers, to friends, to lovers, to soulmates… and it was so beautiful. The way that Tucker adores Enzo and vice versa had me tearing up in multiple scenes 🥹 The hockey team adds another layer of wholesome platonic love that we all need more of. This book makes you feel like you took a bath in a tub filled with love after a hard day.
TLDR: So much love pours from this story. It’s so refreshing and wholesome, but with a good amount of spice dashed in.
"You really are a temptation on ice." - Tucker “You're the temptation that disrupted my whole life. You tore apart what I knew, brought down my walls, and revealed everything that was missing just by walking into my life with that f*ing puppy” -Sebastian
Wow this was a beautiful and very emotional read which was unexpected from a sports book. Both men are so broken and still trying to pick up the pieces little do they know they just needed the right glue.
Sebastian Montenegro is the captain of Hydra hockey team. He is also a single father to an adorable 4 year old who is obsessed with puppies. His wife died in childbirth and has never gotten past her death. He certainly doesn't expect to be lead to happiness from a man and his service dogs.
Tucker Covington is a former cop in the K9 unit. After losing two dogs he was unable to continue. However, he found hope in training dogs. Now he runs an organization that trains and pairs service dogs with veterans. He has never found someone that wants all if him in front of the world. He never expects to be tangled up with yet another seemingly straight guy.
The healing these two men find in each other is absolutely beautiful. I definitely cried through several parts of this book. The social media post was so beautiful. Plus this specific quote for that precious little boy after his Dad told him the men were together.
"Okay, good. You need more hugs and kisses. I'm too little to wrap my arms around you, but Mr. Tucker is big enough. He can make sure you always get hugs when you're sad." - Enzo
I promise you that Adrian R. Hale is the QUEEN of writing books that make me blush.
Sebastian Montenegro - Monty & Cap to his teammates, Daddy to Enzo, and Big Daddy to Tucker. This man is a lot of things. He’s the captain of the Hydras, for starters. He’s also a single dad who lost his wife and he’s doing a bang up job of raising a sweet, dog loving little boy who has a passion for macaroni and cheese & chicken nuggets (who doesn’t though?). Sebastian has been through the wringer and certainly feels the weight of everyone else’s needs on his shoulders. The pressure of the expectations is a lot to handle. But when an unexpected source of support shows up to hold him steady, he’s not prepared for the twists it brings him.
Tucker Covington - Former K-9 officer turned owner of an organization that trains service dogs for men and women who come home from military service a little worse for wear. Strong, quiet, and a little introverted, Tucker likes to stay out of the limelight and keep to himself. His sister, Cami, has other plans. She’s gotten together with the Atlanta Hydras that brings awareness to the organizations cause AND puts Tucker smack dab in the middle of just his type of men. His hard exterior is difficult to break through, given everything he experienced in school and beyond, but is this hot shot hockey player worth the risk?
Temptation on Ice releases later this month, so be sure to check it out!
*This is the second installment of the series but can be read as a standalone. If you’d like to, please check out book one: Reckless on Ice.*
Wow...I knew going in that this would be an emotional book, but Adrian truly blew me away. While this is a hockey romance, there are so many elements that make it much more than that: the burn is slow and delicious, there is a sexually fluid awakening, SO MUCH EMOTION, mental health rep, and puppies! I enjoyed the pacing of the story, and while the burn between Tucker and Sebastian is slow, it makes the payoff that much sweeter.
Tucker is a former K-9 police officer, who left the force and began training service dogs for veterans. His trauma stems from his former job, and the tragic sense of loss that he experienced over his career. As someone who is married to a law enforcement officer, I think that Adrian gave an excellent portrayal of the PTSD that many officers suffer from.
Sebastian is a pro hockey player, single dad, and widower. He is doing his best to parent his young son while also navigating the grief of losing his wife. His team sponsors one of the puppies that Tucker is training, and something quickly sparks to life between them.
This book is one of the most realistic portrayals of men's mental health that I have read. Both Tucker and Sebastian are dealing with trauma, grief, and feelings of inadequacy. The way that they show vulnerability with each other is heartwarming, and it opens up the opportunity for each of them to heal.
Many thanks to Adrian for the opportunity to read and review!
“The f—cker has the strongest arms I’ve ever been hugged by, and to be held when I felt like breaking created a bond I wasn't expecting.”
Temptation on Ice by Adrian Hale is a MM hockey romance.
Sebastian is the team captain for the Hydras, a professional hockey team. He is a single dad and dealing with the grief of losing his wife.
Tucker was previously in law enforcement and is dealing with the trauma of losing two partners. He now trains service dogs to aide military veterans.
Sebastian and Tucker navigate the trauma that each one carries and leans on one another for support forming a strong bond that neither of them can deny. The author deals with heavy mental health topics such as PTSD and grief. The change and growth these characters go through is cathartic and healing.
This book challenges the notion of toxic masculinity by giving us two characters who are ok sharing their vulnerabilities and leaning on each other as they navigate their emotions. “We take comfort in each other in a way only survivors of the same grisly tragedies can. We’re two broken men who found solace in each other, and I gave him a place to feel the emotions, name them, and we can receive comfort from each other while we fight our demons back-to-back.”
As someone who has dealt with my own mental health obstacles, these character’s experiences felt relatable and made me feel seen.
This book is equally tragic and heartwarming. The characters demonstrate a strong relationship with one another as they change and grow throughout the story. Fans of MM sports romances will appreciate not only the depth of the story but also the slow burn romance.
It was even better than I had expected of this story. Tucker and Sebastian seem to be in an absolutely different world yet somehow they fit so well. Sebastian, the professional hockey player, single dad, who only recently lost his wife, and Tucker, a retired policeman who became a dog trainer, have their sorrows. The most amazing thing was the way their relationship began because it was based on friendship and trust rather than an immediate romance. The comfort they give each other can be experienced especially when they open it up about the things they have been concealing to everybody.
Their romance is so organic, and once it occurs, it is real, crude, and deserved. I also liked the way Tucker was very patient and Sebastian gradually learnt to live with the love that it does not eliminate the past but only provides you with a new motive to go on in life. The plot is the perfect combination of loss and recovery accompanied by second chances, and the gradual burn made it even better.
I grinned, cried, and swooned simultaneously as I read this book. It is touching, sensual, and optimistic. I could not stop reading something that Adrian really wrote. It will definitely steal your heart because of its use of opposites attract, single-dad romance with slow burn emotional and heartwarming moments.
Temptation on ice is book two of gods on ice series A widowed hockey captain finds himself unexpectedly developing a connection with a ex K-9 unit officer turned service dog trainer, exploring insurmountable grief, sexuality and healing.
I absolutely loved the chemistry between Sebastian and Tucker it was so amazing they both have went through so much grief and heartbreak, Tucker became a lifeline for Sebastian understanding how heavy loss can be being a shoulder to cry on and someone to talk to which ended up bringing them closer than they ever expected the sudden friendship to go starting a very deep emotional bond that couldn't be broken easily.
Sebastian and his son Enzo were so adorable to watch yet painful both losing their person Enzo not fully understanding it due to his impressionable age and Sebastian becoming a single father raising alittle boy while being a perfessional hockey juggling being a captain for the team and a father being in his sons life as much as he possibly can.
Enzo and Tucker hit it off quickly Tucker letting Enzo hang out with the service animals when ever possible calling Enzo his lil pup they were adorable.
Adrian Hale, what do you put in your books?! I laughed, I sobbed (a lot) and I fell in love!!
I absolutely loved Ryder, Knox and Goldie, I wasn’t sure how the next book was gonna top Reckless on Ice, but I was sorely mistaken…Temptation on Ice came out way ahead
Tucker had me hooked from the second we met him…I mean who doesn’t love a sexy country boy who trains dogs
The way I felt for Sebastian and the way he juggled hockey and being a single dad & always feeling like he was failing Enzo
I absolutely loved watching the friendship and romance build between Tucker and Sebastian. I loved that their friendship came from Enzo falling in love with Ajax and Sebastian just wanting to make his son happy by giving him numerous puppies to play with.
Both Tucker and Sebastian’s back stories were so heartbreaking and I could honestly feel the emotions through the pages as I read. It was amazing how easy it was for both of them to open up to each other and be what the other needed was so beautiful
I definitely wish I could go back and fall in love with these character from the start…but I am so excited to see what’s in store for us with Westy and his story
Oh Sebastian and Tucker! Let me count the ways I love these two. They compliment each other so well. They push and bring out the best in each other. They communicate openly. They are always there for each other. They bring the spice full force 🥵 They help each other heal. Sebastian is a single dad who lost his wife 4 years ago. He hasn’t been able to find someone who he has an emotional connection to. Tucker is the owner of Canine Companions. Pairing service dogs with veterans. He has trauma from his past and hasn’t been able to find his perfect man, and has always been their dirty little secret. When Sebastian and Tucker meet there is an instant connection. Sebastian has always thought he is straight, or at least has never found another man attractive. Tucker quickly helps Sebastian realize that sexuality is fluid and together they explore their new friendship and what all of these new feelings mean. Sebastian’s son, Enzo is the absolute cutest and will make your heart so full! This book is incredible!!! It is a must read!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Sebastian’s life lately has been nothing like he imagined. After losing his wife, grief has been a constant weight he can’t seem to shake. Between raising his son and coaching his hockey team, there’s little time left to focus on himself. But when his team partners with a company that trains service dogs, he never expectsed to meet someone who would bring light back into his world.
Tucker’s life has been defined by loss and survival. The one thing that’s helped him find his footing again is training service dogs for veterans living with PTSD. It gives him purpose—something to hold on to when the world feels heavy. But when his company begins to struggle, he’s offered a life-changing opportunity to team up with the Hydra hockey team to raise awareness and help others along the way. What he doesn’t expect is to meet someone who feels like home in ways he never thought possible.
This book was such an emotional and heartfelt read. Adrian did an incredible job portraying both Sebastian and Tucker’s grief—it was heartfelt and deeply moving. I loved how these two connected through something so few people in their lives truly understood. They just got each other. I love the way their bond formed naturally, in the most unexpected way. It made it feel like they were meant to find one another.
I especially loved how Sebastian didn’t shy away from the messy parts of his grief when opening up to Tucker, and how that honesty allowed Tucker to share his own pain. The portrayal of men’s mental health is so genuine and deeply felt—it reminds you how important it is for men to be allowed to feel, to be vulnerable, and to find that sense of safety with someone they can trust.
If you love hurt/comfort, opposites attract, healing together, single dad stories, and all the doggos your heart can handle, then this book was made for you.
