I was given an ARC of this book and I enjoyed it. It sees Elara facing battles on more than one front. Her Deathborn powers are still suspect by many, the traditionalists positively hating her.
I liked how Elara endeavours to do the right thing and the tensions that evolve because of it. I love the magical elements. All the characters suited the plot, if not all likeable.

The writing and quick wit is outstanding. Elara is facing a new challenge but rising in the fear and facing it without one of her strongest friends shows her power and determination. Can't wait to read how she grows and develops.
