A classic western novel from Frank Wheeler with non-stop epic adventure and a blend of western romance
Doyle Baldwin left Ironwood Valley as a young soldier full of hope, dreaming of the day he’d return to open land, honest work, and the woman he planned to marry. But war leaves its mark, and the home he comes back to isn’t the one he left.
His father is missing. His fiancée is gone. And something dark has taken hold of the valley.
The Brotherhood and its leader, Vince Kincaid, talk of progress and new opportunities. But behind their promises lies a network of fear. Armed patrols, sudden disappearances, and threats to anyone who speaks out. Even the sheriff won’t stand in their way.
Doyle’s not looking for trouble. He just wants answers.
But when the trail leads him into the mountains and the truth hits close to home, walking away is no longer an option. With the help of an old friend, he digs deep into the Brotherhood’s grip on Ironwood, uncovering labor camps, secret deals, and a long trail of vanished neighbors.
He doesn’t want another war. He wants his home back. But some things can’t be reclaimed without a fight. How far will one man go to take back what was stolen?
Each novel in the series is a standalone western which can be read out of order.

I am happy to recommend this book. It held my attention from beginning to end. I found the characters very interesting and believable. Doyle was a very good main character.
Wheeler creates more information about the control one man holds over basic good people for whose gain? I compare this sharp contrast with the corruption in government today. It comes down to greed!
This is a great Western, people story. You surely will never find a tighter gathering of people being written about; than this fast moving story that will keep your interest. I believe that you will be thrilled with the tempo and direct action.
