Secrets at the Zoo A Gwen Lawson Mystery (Short Fiction)
Gwen Lawson is hoping for a quiet day at the zoo with her grandkids—not a front-row seat to a suspicious fatal fall inside the gorilla sanctuary. But when her strange second sight flares up, she knows this was no accident.
Someone pushed that zookeeper, and Gwen is determined to find out who.
Armed with a cryptic notebook, her own sharp instincts, and backup from her best friends Teensie and Lorraine, Gwen digs into a trail of secrets, shady staffers, and stolen animal supplies. But someone on the inside is watching her—and they’ll do anything to keep the truth fenced in.
Set against the backdrop of family chaos, zoo politics, and one stubborn llama back home, Secrets at the Zoo delivers a smart, suspenseful short mystery full of dry humor, deep heart, and a heroine who always trusts her gut—even when it leads straight into danger.

Gwen is at the zoo with her family helping with her grandchildren. As the day is winding down they come upon a crowd that has formed around the gorilla enclosure. When she finds out that a zoo attendant has died she becomes suspicious. From there the story moves quickly to a surprise ending. A fun read.
A very quick read. Grandma Gwen at the Zoo with her family when they notice a crowd acting “off”. A keeper has fallen, perhaps pushed by a gorilla. Gwen has a vision & knows that someone else was up there & pushed him. She manages to get an it sorted quite cleverly.
Gwen Lawson goes to Monroe Zoo with her family and there a murder takes place. There is a lot going on than meets the eye. Lots of suspense and fast-pace action. A captivating read from the start. I received this ARC copy and recommend this book to other readers.
