A nursing student and a competitive boxer are thrown into the ring together in this steamy college romance.

With senior year well underway, Cali’s plan to get into Fenton University’s elusive Masters of Nursing program is set into motion. The competition is stiff, but she has a sure-fire way to get her where she wants to go. That is, until Cali’s success lies in the prized member of the boxing team—Lincoln Pierce. Now tasked with tutoring the brooding fighter to secure a letter of reference from her professor, Cali launches herself at the opportunity. But she soon realises that Lincoln is a hell of a lot more than she bargained for.

Lincoln Pierce has no idea what he’s doing or where he’s going. One thing is for sure—he wants nothing to do with tutoring and even less to do with Cali, especially when her determination soon threatens to expose secrets he’s purposefully left in the dark. But with his grades slipping, there’s more than just Lincoln’s full-ride scholarship on the line. Lincoln must accept Cali’s help or lose everything he’s fought for.

And as it turns out, she may end up getting more than a little extra credit.

.3 stars.

.my thoughts.
interesting enough, this story actually hooked me from the start, it was a new idea that drew me in along with Sadie.

funny enough the reason I'm rating it 3 stars is because I wasn't quite enchanted with it. but I would still recommend because this was unique in its own way.

Extra Credit - Luisa Dituri

I had a great time reading this book. I just could not put it down. I’m a sucker for the opposites attract tutor X sports team player dynamic. I also love that Calista wanted to be a nurse. And especially with regards to the masters program. I just love, female characters in trade or academia or STEM. I also love Lincoln‘s protective streak in regards to his mother, even though she made mistakes and of course Sadie. The chemistry between these two was just so addictive and I loved getting to know them. I can’t wait for book 2.

i read the OG version of this book before reading the arc and both versions are similar in quality and content, but this one is more polished and everything feels stronger and more cohesive.

i love love love luisa's writing style. it's straight to the point and easy to read, but it doesn't treat the reader like they're dumb. both points of view felt distinct (you know i hate it when dual povs sound the same lmao) and cali and lincoln were very easy to root for, both as individuals and as a couple. they're dedicated and ambitious, which i think helped bring them together.

where i think this book unfortunately felt short of a higher rating was the ending. it felt a bit rushed at times and , but the overall pacing of the book was great.

thank you so much for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review 🩷 very excited for the official release!!

Thank you to Luisa Dituri for an eArc of this read!

i really enjoyed this! it did take me a little longer to get invested into the story, but once i was hooked it was smooth sailing. i was initially super intrigued by the storyline of a romance between a nursing student and a boxer and it didn't disappoint! we get a pretty good sense of the characters personalities from early on in the book, and it gives you a small glimpse of what their relationship might be like. I will say that i felt like our FMC Calista, lacked a bit of emotional depth for my liking! i do wish we got to know her on a more emotional level. we get to learn about her family and her struggles with her future choices career wise, but it did feel a little surface level to me. with Lincoln, our MMC, i felt a little more connected to because of the emotional backstory and it made it easy to understand and sympathize with him. his backstory was dark, emotional and made you think about the sacrifices people often make to protect their loved ones. i love them together, and thought they balanced each other out really well. the plot developed really nicely, and i was super hooked, at the edge of my seat wanting to know how it was going to end, and while i did enjoy the ending, it did feel a little abrupt.

i will also say, please pay attention to the trigger warnings! it was a little darker/ more emotional than i expected! overall, i definitely do recommend this book, especially if you like a more emotional romance!

A swoony, emotional, and addictively good opposites-attract sports romance! 🥊💞

Wow — this book hooked me from the very first page! I’m a total sucker for the grumpy x sunshine / tutor x athlete dynamic, and Luisa Dituri nailed it with Calista and Lincoln. Calista is everything I love in a heroine—ambitious, focused on her nursing degree, and determined not to let distractions derail her goals. Lincoln, on the other hand, is the classic bad-boy boxer with a soft side, quietly protecting the people he loves while battling his own demons. Together? Absolute fire. Their chemistry was electric and their connection so heartfelt.

I also loved the found-family element—Lincoln’s relationship with his mom and little sister Sadie completely melted me. The story balances tension, humor, and emotion so well, and both POVs felt distinct and real (a huge plus in dual-POV romances!). Luisa’s writing is clean, compelling, and easy to fall into—you can feel every ounce of angst, passion, and vulnerability between these two.

If I had one tiny wish, it’s that the ending felt a bit rushed and the villain moment was slightly over the top—but it didn’t take away from how much I loved the ride.

An irresistible blend of spice, heart, and healing. Perfect for fans of sports romance, protective MMCs, and heroines chasing their dreams. I can’t wait for book two! 💗

Arc Review

Bad boy and good girl? Grumpy and sunshine? Tutor trope? Hot MMC boxer? Gorgeous, I'm sold!!! Luisa meant business when it came to Lincoln and Calista! I waited patiently for updates, and now I hold the copy. Every chapter had angst, banter, and complexity. Lincoln is not perfect; he challenges himself, but he also punishes himself internally. The only spaces in his heart were his sister and his mother. Meeting Calista, he falls, and he lets it happen. My type of MMC that doesn’t play mind games, or says they are only casual. Calista is a hardworking girl; she does not deny romance, but she does not want to be distracted. Focused on her nursing degree, she did not allow herself to stray away from her passion. Both have one thing in common: they like to take care of others. With Calista wanting to be a doctor, Lincoln protects his sister and mother. They provide and care for each other with understanding and aftercare. Lincoln’s side of his story broke my heart because he refused to be like his father.
Mini spoiler: “Kissing Lincoln was dizzying.” That's one of my favorite parts! Their intimate scenes: Woooooo! I felt I was intruding. Five stars!

ARC REVIEW
I would first like to thank Luisa Dituri for providing an ARC.

This was kind of cute overall, but it took me a while to get into. I didn’t feel truly invested until about halfway through. The romance had its sweet moments, but I didn’t feel a strong connection to either main character (especially Lincoln until the last 3 chapters).

There’s a “popping the ‘p’” line toward the end that made me chuckle and reminded me this was a Wattpad book.

Some small issues in the ARC (I’m not sure if it was just an error in the copy I received) : missing end quotation marks in chapters 25, 31, and 36, plus a grammar slip in chapter 42 (“don’t” instead of “didn’t”).

Some comments I have that could be classified as spoilers so BEWARE HERE:

Also, Lincoln’s mom is sorta toxic(??). She just had her moments. And I still don’t get why it was so hard for Cali to believe Lincoln was underground boxing when she knew his family needed money and he’s, well, a boxer. Lol idk.

But yeah, that’s my review for now :)

I was lucky to get an ARC of this book—it was my first time reading Luisa Dituri, and I really enjoyed it. I’m always up for a good opposites-attract story, especially when it’s mixed with a sports angle.

Luisa writes these characters so well:

- Calista is a focused college senior trying to get into a nursing master’s program. She’s serious, driven, and not interested in distractions.

- Lincoln is the campus-famous boxer—everyone knows who he is, but there’s more to him than meets the eye.

From the moment Calista and Lincoln meet, you can feel the tension in Luisa’s writing. Lincoln’s too busy to slow down or get help with the class he’s failing, and Calista’s completely fed up with him. You just know something’s going to give between these two.

Luisa also does a great job with the supporting cast—their friends and families add depth without overshadowing the main story, but they definitely play an important role.

I’d definitely recommend picking this one up. It hits the right balance of spice, drama, and sports—you won’t be disappointed.

ARC REVIEW

Wow. This was my first read by Luisa and I was instantly hooked. I'm a sucker for a sports romance but especially when the athlete has a soft side.

Lincoln was your typical brooding jerk just to try and survive. Growing up with a crappy father, he just wanted to keep his mom and sister safe. In doing so, he was failing his class and was stuck with a tutor or he was off the boxing team. (Here comes calista)

Calista had goals, driven, knew in her soul what she wanted. That was until she was stuck tutoring the brooding Lincoln. While finding herself, she also found love.

Calista and Lincoln were truly so sweet. Their love with Lincoln's little sister Sadie melted my heart. I SOBBED reading what happened to Lincoln's mom and how Sadie came to be.

This truly was a well rounded story, with a little spice (cough Lincoln V cough). I cannot wait for book two next year.

ARC review

This book had an absolutely wonderful plot! It started out a little cliché in my opinion but it ended up developing beautifully soon after. It had the perfect amount of spice and there weren’t many parts where I had to force myself to get through– I just kept wanting more.

Lincoln started off as a man who couldn’t be bothered by anything and was super closed off, while Cali thought she had her whole life planned perfectly. I truly admired the lessons that Cali and Lincoln learned from each other and enjoyed seeing their characters develop as well as their romance develop.

Cali and Lincolns story was brilliant. I read their story when it was on Wattpad with “His Last Hope” and loved seeing how much Luisa’s writing and storytelling has evolved over the years. I cannot wait to read more of her books.

Overall:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice:🌶🌶🌶
Genre: Sports Romance

While not my normal read, a cute, spicy, college, enemies to lovers sports romance that will make you roll your eyes, smile, laugh and maybe even shed a lil tear.

Cali is a headstrong nursing student looking to get into her prestigious ivy league's masters program to pursue her NP degree. Lincoln is a stubborn boxer jock who doesnt want help from anyone, in any form except when it comes to his little sister Sadie. Nothing will stop Cali from getting what she needs to get into her masters program... except Lincoln's step-father who has him boxing for more than his scholarship.

Super cute read, fast paced and with enough action and hair pulling to keep you turning the page!!!

Had the pleasure of reading this as an ARC.
A slower start that picked up the pace perfectly. I love a romance that actually feels realistic to a lot of people’s natural love story.
Not straight into smut but not always the slowest burn a nice happy medium of awkward do I like her as much I hope she likes me to keep me happy.

Also I’m a sucker for a Virgin MMC. It’s a rare gem, that was handled with care!

Also a supportive male best friend is always a win tor me, add in cute adorable little sister and it’s just bonuses all around.

Sometimes love find its way in an unexpected circumstances - and i like how this has been splayed out nicely throughout story. The sunshine nursing student FMC was tasked to tutor the brooding boxing champ MMC who shuts the world down. Despite some episodes, the FMC never backed down, and together they navigate every obstacles and find thier way to each other. I love how the author snuggles in the MMC's cute sister and play a part in thier growing dynamics. A heartfelt read, slow-burn romance that reminds you love is worth the fight. Grateful for the ARC opportunity.

Really interesting characters and plot, at first the writing felt a little “cold”/distant and i thought there wouldn’t be chemistry between the two main characters, but i ended up really loving them. The only thing that gave me the ick was how many times Lincoln would refer to his father as “sperm donor”, i mean i understand the concept of alienating him from the father figure role, but it was a bit weird, i mean it was basically used as if it was his name.Other than that i really enjoyed the read and i can’t wait to see ella’s story!

This is an ARC review, thank you for the arc!

Overall this was an easy read. I struggled with the first few chapters however that may have just been because I was learning new characters after reading an entire series 😂

After I got comfortable with the characters the book flew by. Luisa’s writing style is simple in the best way, sometimes you need easier reads and while this had touched on a few heavier themes I don’t think it overly impacted the enjoy-ability of a quick and easy read.

My favorite book I read in the month of January is Extra Credit. It will always have my heart — it was such a sweet and emotional read 🥹💖 Lincoln was so cute throughout the book; he literally pushes Calli away to protect her from his toxic family. He was also such a caring big brother, almost like a father figure to his little sister. The dynamic between him and Calli was so strong ❤️ She was always there for him, and I loved her character even more because of that.

This was my first boxing romance and boy was it intense. Lincoln was the epitome of broody and Calista was his sunshine on a rainy day. She never gave up on him and I thought that was beautiful. There's also something about a man who's a softy for his little sister (talk about swoon). There wasn't too much spice but when it hit, IT HIT! I felt all the feels reading this.

I really liles the storyline! College-Sport-Romances usually focus on hockey or football, so it was rally interested to read smth about boxing. The story of Cali and Lincoln in general was really capivating and I think nicely thought through and written. The only thing I wasn't that fond of was the final showdown, simply because it was a bit too quickly resolved. Otherwise a really nice read!

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH! It was so raw, emotional, and such a heartwarming experience. I loved the personal and relationship development of Cali and Lincoln. I loved seeing them both grow, because it felt so natural and organic. Miss Cali girl is such a selfless and compassionate person. I loved seeing her always showing up for Lincoln and Sadie. She is extremely determined and persistent in everything she does. I loved how we slowly see her development and how she was brave enough to follow her dreams! And Lincoln! WOW. His growth was so rewarding! He was definitely a standoffish character in the beginning due to his history. But, I loved seeing him come to life the more he spent time with Cali. He is such a family man and genuinely such a good guy!! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!
