Devyn Martin, is a Hollywood starlet who has just earned her first Oscar. Moments after heading backstage, she’s handed a bouquet of her favorite flowers. It should be a celebratory moment, except the flowers are from her stalker, and proof that he’s found a way to get to her even in a highly secured environment.
Knowing things are escalating, Devyn hires Aegis Tactical Solutions to provide round-the-clock security while they work to identify and apprehend her stalker. Gunnar is assigned to take point, and it doesn’t take long for it to become clear that he’s not looking at Devyn as just another assignment.
I’m a sucker for instalove, and there was definitely chemistry between Devyn and Gunnar. I just wanted a little more development to make their connection feel as compelling emotionally as it was physically.
Devyn also tested my patience a few times. I completely understood the need for her to push against the security restrictions, especially since it ultimately drives some of the action. But watching her repeatedly disregard protocols when she knows a dangerous stalker is after her had me wanting to shake her.
That said, I really enjoyed the stalker storyline. The suspense kept me guessing, and I genuinely had no idea who was behind it until the reveal. That had me flipping pages with some serious intensity!!
And we know me, so obviously I was all in for the free-use and Daddy kink. I may have wanted to throat punch Devyn occasionally, but I also understood exactly why she needed to be a little bratty to keep the story moving.

4🌟 | 3🌶️
A stalker, a bodyguard, and one very stubborn actress made for such a fun read.
Devyn and Gunnar had undeniable chemistry, and I loved their push-and-pull. Gunnar was protective, possessive, and completely gone for her, while Devyn had no problem keeping him on his toes.
The suspense was probably my favorite part. I genuinely didn’t see the reveal coming, and I flew through the book trying to figure out what was happening. I also loved getting so much of Gunnar’s team throughout the story. Their banter and friendship added so much personality and had me wanting more of these guys.
I would have happily spent a little more time watching Gunnar and Devyn’s connection deepen, but I still really enjoyed them together. Add in the Daddy kink, forced proximity, and plenty of protective Gunnar energy, and this was an easy, spicy read that kept me entertained from beginning to end.
This was exactly the kind of quick, spicy romance I was in the mood for.

Maybe it’s because I was previously married to someone in the military and I’ve already experienced enough of that particular trope in real life.

Did the immersive experience.
Would not recommend the live-action adaptation.
Because military men, in my personal experience, seem to come in exactly two varieties:
🫡 EXTREMELY loyal, would crawl through broken glass for you, protect you with their life
or
🚩 THE WORST HUMAN BEING YOU HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED
There is no middle setting.
NONE.
The factory apparently forgot to install it.

BUT.

That’s the assignment.
Keep the client alive.
Maintain professional boundaries.

Except Gunnar takes approximately one look at her and his brain starts going:

And I LOVE a bodyguard romance where the line between:

and
I’m protecting you because I’ve become completely fucking obsessed with you
starts disappearing.
That’s my shit.
Because eventually Gunnar isn’t giving:
“Please remain inside for your personal safety, Ms. Martin.”
He’s giving:
“Who the fuck touched my girl?”

THERE HE IS.
WELCOME HOME, SIR.
The hate to ywant you energy between these two was also DELICIOUS.
Devyn does not want this man telling her what to do.
Gunnar cannot understand why this woman seems biologically incapable of following instructions.
She pushes.
He pushes back.
She gets bratty.
He gets bossier.
And I’m sitting there watching this power struggle like:

Please continue.
Because apparently two stubborn people irritating the absolute shit out of each other until they realize they’re also wildly attracted to each other remains one of literature’s greatest achievements.
And let’s address the elephant in the room.

That’s it.
That’s my analysis.
Moving on.

But while their physical chemistry absolutely worked for me, I did want MORE from the emotional development.
The attraction?
BELIEVED IT.
The obsession?
Oh, absolutely.
The possessiveness?
Sir practically came pre-installed with it.
But their deeper connection moved pretty quickly, and I would’ve loved a little more time watching that emotional intimacy build.
Give me another layer.
Let it marinate.
Make me YEARN.
Because the ingredients were absolutely there—I just wanted the relationship itself to cook a little longer before we reached certain emotional milestones.
And then there’s the stalker plot.
THIS was one of my favorite parts.
Because I genuinely did not know who the fuck it was.
Every time someone appeared, I was like:
👀 You?
No.
Wait.
YOU?!
No.
Maybe…
EVERYONE IS SUSPICIOUS.
😂
I had theories.
I changed theories.
I became convinced I had cracked the case.
I had, in fact, not cracked shit.
And when a suspense element can actually keep me guessing, I’m happy.
Especially because suspense/military romance isn’t naturally my favorite corner of romance.
JL Quick managed to keep me invested anyway.
THAT says something.
I also love that Gunnar is part of an interconnected standalone series because obviously now that I’ve met Aegis Tactical Solutions, I’m going to start looking around like:
Okay. Which emotionally compromised tactical Daddy are we ruining next?
Because that’s how they get you.
You read ONE.
Then some side character walks onto the page for eleven seconds and suddenly you’re checking Goodreads like:

But while their physical chemistry absolutely worked for me, I did want MORE from the emotional development.
The attraction?
BELIEVED IT.
The obsession?
Oh, absolutely.
The possessiveness?
Sir practically came pre-installed with it.
But their deeper connection moved pretty quickly, and I would’ve loved a little more time watching that emotional intimacy build.
Give me another layer.
Let it marinate.
Make me YEARN.
Because the ingredients were absolutely there—I just wanted the relationship itself to cook a little longer before we reached certain emotional milestones.
And then there’s the stalker plot.
THIS was one of my favorite parts.
Because I genuinely did not know who the fuck it was.
Every time someone appeared, I was like:
👀 You?
No.
Wait.
YOU?!
No.
Maybe…
EVERYONE IS SUSPICIOUS.
😂
I had theories.
I changed theories.
I became convinced I had cracked the case.
I had, in fact, not cracked shit.
And when a suspense element can actually keep me guessing, I’m happy.
Especially because suspense/military romance isn’t naturally my favorite corner of romance.
JL Quick managed to keep me invested anyway.
THAT says something.
I also love that Gunnar is part of an interconnected standalone series because obviously now that I’ve met Aegis Tactical Solutions, I’m going to start looking around like:
Okay. Which emotionally compromised tactical Daddy are we ruining next?
Because that’s how they get you.
You read ONE.
Then some side character walks onto the page for eleven seconds and suddenly you’re checking Goodreads like:

Devyn is a badass brat who refuses to follow rules, and Gunnar is basically, “That’s cute. Anyway, you’re listening to me.” 😂 Protective, possessive, obsessed, and just the right amount of unhinged. And Daddy Gunnar? Yeahhh… say less. 🫠

Okay, Daddy Gunnar. I see you there. This book definitely has me wanting to go back and read the stories of Hawk, Damon, and Jagger now. It's a quick, spicy read and I enjoyed it lol. Daddy Gunnar was hot, older, protective as hell, and I'd almost call it an instalust/love. What I enjoyed the most, and surprise, it's not the romance part lol, was the way the other men were written into this story. Okay, so obviously each of our Dark Daddies of Delta Force have a book. A lot of times when you have a series like this, the previous main characters take a backseat in the next book or if they're bought up, it's with their romantic partner from the previous book. In Gunnar, the men of Gunnar's security team are large parts of this story as they're all sent to protect Devyn from her stalker. They're significant others aren't barely named and have no part of this story. I kind of liked that. I liked seeing that the guys are still doing their jobs and seeing them work. It made me want to go back and read their books because I enjoyed them so much.
The book is hot hot hot. Gunnar has a daddy kink and Devyn was immediately here for it lol. They definitely have a dom/sub relationship in the bedroom but if a beefy, sexy special forces type man wanted to worship my body like Gunnar does, who would I be to say no? lol. I liked Gunnar and Devyn both but I could have used with a little more slow burn/tension... but I'm happy with it too haha

Thanks to the author JL Quick and The Luna Literary for sending the arc of Gunnar. This is the last book of the series and the 2nd I’ve read after Damon. I loved Damon but I adored Gunnar! I’ve been waiting for this to come out and it did not disappoint! One of the easiest 5 stars I’ve gave 🙌🏽
Let’s start with Gunnar! He’s the dad of the group, the old man! All the guys love reminding him of that. Well Jagger, but still! He is a tall glass of water, gruff and incredibly bossy but who cares???? He’s fiercely protective and amazing at his job so yeah!!
Devyn is amazingly talented and has worked her way up to winning an Oscar! Which is insane in itself, she’s beautiful, successful and a sweetheart to everyone. When her stalker threat escalates and it’s brought into her home!!!! There’s no other choice to bring a protection detail.
In walks Gunnar, already telling her what to do. Pointing out the ‘flaws’ well security risks of her home and in her eyes controlling her life. So what does any normal woman do, they fight back, even if she sounds like a childish brat. Sometimes it leads to hilarious moments but at the same time it’s like a game you can’t tear your eye away from. And ofc it’s all aimed for Gunnar.
Their chemistry is off the charts and the whole back and forth thing just makes it even better. So when they actually give in to their feelings and desires it’s explosive in the best way!!! It’s sad to say goodbye to this series and hopefully this won’t be the end of it but also I’m extremely happy I haven’t read the first 2 because I am not ready to say goodbye yet!💚

I really lkke that he fell hard and fast with a delicious dose of jealousy. They develop a quick, fun dirty relationship. The mystery of the stalker through out the story was well paced and kept me invested. Always enjoy the banter between the Delta Force guys, their connection is deep and their is a strong family bond. I had a great time with this read.

Gunnar was one of those quick, spicy romantic suspense reads that had me flying through the pages because I HAD to know who was behind everything.
Devyn Martin has just reached one of the biggest moments of her career when she wins her first Oscar. Moments later, she's backstage and handed a bouquet of her favorite flowers.
Except they're from her stalker.
And suddenly the person who has been watching Devyn from a distance doesn't feel quite so distant anymore.
Enter Aegis Tactical Solutions and Gunnar.

Gunnar is gruff, bossy, ridiculously competent, protective, possessive, and completely prepared to take control of Devyn's security.
He has rules.
Devyn has absolutely no intention of following them.

Devyn is successful, talented, strong, and used to controlling her own life. I completely understood why suddenly having a team of men telling her where she could go, what she could do, and how she needed to behave made her push back.
HOWEVER.

There were definitely moments when Devyn tested every ounce of my patience. I may or may not have wanted to reach into my Kindle and shake her when she knowingly ignored security protocols.
But I also understood that her stubbornness was part of who she was. She had worked hard for her career and independence, and suddenly having Gunnar invade practically every corner of her life was bound to create some resistance.
And honestly, Gunnar seemed to enjoy her bratty behavior almost as much as she enjoyed testing him. 😂🔥
Because we know me.
Give me the Daddy kink.
Give me the brat determined to test every rule.
Give me the protective man responding with the equivalent of:
“That's cute. You're still listening to me.”
And yes, I am seated. 😂
The push-and-pull between Gunnar and Devyn was SO much fun. Their attraction is immediate, Gunnar becomes completely gone for her, and their chemistry definitely delivers on the spicy side of this story.

Where I would've loved a little more was in the emotional development underneath all that chemistry. I am absolutely a sucker for instalove, so the immediate attraction wasn't the problem. I simply wanted more quiet moments and conversations showing exactly why their connection became something deeper.
Their physical chemistry was incredibly easy to believe. I just wanted a little more time for the emotional side to become equally compelling.
But the SUSPENSE?
That worked for me.
I was playing detective right along with everyone else, and I genuinely did not figure out who Devyn's stalker was before the reveal. Every new development had me questioning what was happening, and when the truth finally came out, I absolutely did NOT see it coming.
That unpredictability was probably my favorite part of the book and a huge reason I flew through this so quickly.
I also loved getting so much of Gunnar's Aegis crew throughout the story. The friendship, ridiculous teasing, loyalty, and constant banter between these men brought so much personality to the heavier suspense moments.
And apparently giving Gunnar grief for being the old man of the group is practically a team sport. 😂
These men are absolute menaces, and I wanted MORE.
Overall, Gunnar gave me exactly the kind of entertaining romantic suspense I was in the mood for. A dangerous stalker, forced proximity, an Oscar-winning actress who refuses to make her bodyguard's life easy, a fiercely protective MMC, an unpredictable mystery, great team banter, and plenty of spice.
Did Devyn occasionally make me want to throat punch her?
Absolutely. 😂
Did I understand that without some of her questionable decision-making, Gunnar wouldn't have nearly as many opportunities to go into full protective Daddy mode?
Also absolutely.
And did I have a ridiculously fun time watching it happen?

Well, that was a one-day reading experience because apparently I had no choice but to keep reading until Gunnar and Devyn’s story was finished. I absolutely flew through this book, and by the time I reached the end, I was wishing I had somehow made myself read slower.
There’s so much more happening beneath that initial premise, and I loved how J.L. Quick mixed romance, danger, humor, suspense, and heat without allowing any one element to overwhelm the others.
Gunnar is exactly the kind of hero who gets under my skin in the best possible way. He’s intense, possessive, dangerous, and completely committed once Devyn becomes his person. He has that very strong you hurt her and I will personally make your life miserable energy, but what made me love him wasn’t simply how protective he was. It was the emotion behind it.
Everything Gunnar does for Devyn comes from a place of genuine care. He wants her safe, but he also wants her to feel safe with him. Beneath all that intimidating alpha energy is a man who is capable of being surprisingly vulnerable, and those softer moments made me fall for him even harder.
And Devyn was such a great match for him.

Well, that was a one-day reading experience because apparently I had no choice but to keep reading until Gunnar and Devyn’s story was finished. I absolutely flew through this book, and by the time I reached the end, I was wishing I had somehow made myself read slower.
There’s so much more happening beneath that initial premise, and I loved how J.L. Quick mixed romance, danger, humor, suspense, and heat without allowing any one element to overwhelm the others.
Gunnar is exactly the kind of hero who gets under my skin in the best possible way. He’s intense, possessive, dangerous, and completely committed once Devyn becomes his person. He has that very strong you hurt her and I will personally make your life miserable energy, but what made me love him wasn’t simply how protective he was. It was the emotion behind it.
Everything Gunnar does for Devyn comes from a place of genuine care. He wants her safe, but he also wants her to feel safe with him. Beneath all that intimidating alpha energy is a man who is capable of being surprisingly vulnerable, and those softer moments made me fall for him even harder.
And Devyn was such a great match for him.

I have had the pleasure of ARC reading every single book in this series and it has been very satisfying.
Gunnar is a 46-year-old MMC who likes to take control and be called daddy; who is extremely obsessed with his 30-year-old client. I feel that out of the four books, he's probably the most obsessed, protective and possessive MMC. Maybe because he's the oldest and more experienced but the mouth on that man. Hot. Who doesn't love an MMC who talks dirty. And then paired with a very sassy, brat FMC. What can go so right and be so delicious? This book is dark with suspense elements. It's spicy. It's addicting. I enjoyed the plot very much.
I fell in love with every character and I'm very sad it's over. I can't believe this is the last book in the series. I became attached to these characters that I need more. Maybe an extended epilogue to update us where all the couples are and what their present looks like and such. I'm going to miss Jagger's jokes with Gunnar and Hawks calmness. How, even tho Hawk is the boss, he's been so supportive with the guys when they've fallen in love on the job. Haha. Love Hawk always.
I highly recommend reading books 1-3 before Gunnar. You get to fall in love with every MMC and it explains so much on how Aegis was started and why. And it's more satisfying that way. You definitely don't want to miss out on these daddies.

Gunnar is the fourth book in the Dark Daddies of Delta Force series and oh boy is he a Daddy that likes to be in control. He is the kind of man that doesn't do casual because when you are with him, you are his. He owns you in a totally sexy, hot, older man with muscles kind of way. A way that you know and feel owned, valued, respected and cared for. Yes, you know it, the kind of man that is all in and all consuming.
Devyn has worked hard for her successful career as an actress. She knows her worth, she knows the sacrifices and the work she has put in to get this far and she will not let anything stop her from enjoying her achievements and living her dream life. Not a stalker and not an interfering, overbearing bodyguard.
These two clash at every step. Devyn knows she needs the protection, but butts head with the lead bodyguard, Gunnar, as he lays down the rules and starts being overbearing with his safety protocols. As the danger starts to increase, maybe Devyn can see the reasons behind the safety measures and maybe Gunnar can make some changes too.
You have this great antagonism between Devyn and Gunnar in the beginning as he comes in all hot security bodyguard and Devyn wants protection but not at the cost of her freedom. There is sexual tension running underneath their interactions until the day they both give in and then, phew does Daddy Gunnar get all hot and sexy and dominant in the bedroom and then anywhere, any place he decides. You have hot sexy scenes, with free use and panty dropping scenes.
Running alongside their love story you have this great stalker mystery, which adds an element of danger and suspense as the delta force team try to discover who the stalker could be. As with these alpha men you have some great banter and funny moments that help relief the tension.
I really enjoyed this book and I have enjoyed the series.

God this was everything I've ever wanted in a book. Devyn has worked so hard for her career, and she doesn't appreciate the rules Gunnar lays down to keep her safe - enough that she's pushing back with each one. This leads to so many delicious moments between them, the tension was so good and I absolutely inhaled this. The caveman/restaurant scene is definitely one that will be living rent-free in my head!
Throughout, Gunnar is tortured by wanting her, knowing that it is compromising his job to desire her, but is unable to help it. The moment that tension snaps between them was another masterpiece, I loved that scene so much, and all the ones that follow once they hit that "fuck it" moment. It tips a bit towards insta-lust, part of me wishes there was a little more burn between them but the way they are both obsessed and the way Gunnar yearns, I am so here for it. He is down so hard, and seeing how gruff he was at the beginning and then how gone he is for her and how he'll go through any lengths to protect her - incredible.
The suspense is amazing as well, you are kept guessing as to who's been able to get so close to Devyn. I couldn't put this one down, and finished it in a day! I will definitely be heading back to read the rest of this series, and very much looking foward to reading Gunnar again soon 💖

I love the Dark Daddies of Delta Force series! "Gunnar" is a celebrity x bodyguard/former military man daddy k1nk romance with a mysterious suspense element thrown in as well. I liked both of the main characters, Devyn (FMC), an Oscar-winning actress with a stalker who has gotten too close recently, and Gunnar (MMC), a member of the Delta Force team hired by Devyn to secure everything in and about her life/give her bodyguard services. Devyn has been receiving mysterious, creepy notes and her favorite flowers from a "secret admirer" who seems to know everything about her, her movements, her schedule, what she likes, who she is with and when, etc. Devyn hires Gunnar, Damon, Jagger, and Hawk to provide her with bodyguard and security services to ensure she will not be harmed by the maniac stalking her. Unfortunately, Devyn hates being monitored and "caged" like an animal, so she acts like a brat any chance she gets, especially towards Gunnar, who has taken point on this assignment. She keeps blowing off their protocols until one day, she wishes she hadn't. There is a distinct pull between Devyn and Gunnar, an air crackling, a palpable tension when they are in close proximity. Devyn makes Gunnar lose focus, something he never does on the job. Gunnar makes Devyn feel things she has never felt for a man, and she thinks she might be safe to tell him what she wants and needs. The best part about this book is this dynamic between Devyn and Gunnar. There is so much tension and yearning between the two of them, and their romance is slightly forbidden because he is her bodyguard, so he technically isn't supposed to act on his feelings....... and thank goodness he eventually does, because he falls HARD and FAST in an all -consuming manner. It's because of this that the spice here is so good! There is a lot of it, too, but not so much that it overshadows the plot. Devyn pushes Gunnar even when she knows she shouldn't, and he bosses her around for the greater good. He's possessive, an alpha to the core. She's soft at times, but knows when she needs to be strong. She doesn't let anyone walk all over her, even Gunnar and the Delta Force. This leads to several scenes of "will they or won't they?" act on their feelings. The mystery/suspense element was quite thrilling. J.L. Quick takes you one way, only to fake at the last minute, keeping readers in suspense as to what's really going on with Devyn's stalker situation. I loved getting to see the dynamic between the Delta Force Daddies. Their banter is always good for a laugh, especially when they rag on Gunnar for being an old man. Also, the banter between Devyn and Gunnar is good, too. Honestly? I consumed this book in less than a day. I couldn't put it down! I thought all of the elements fit perfectly. A starlet who hates rules and a Daddy whose entire job is enforcing them? I mean, if that doesn't perfectly sum up this book, I don't know what does! Gunnar is dark, spicy, protective, and completely addictive from the very beginning.
Gunnar is a bit of a grump, and because he's in his 50s, the others love calling him the "old man." But don't let the grumpy exterior fool you, he's obsessive, possessive, and fiercely protective. Devyn is a spoiled, sassy celebrity who has never been particularly interested in following rules. But when she discovers she has a stalker, she turns to the Delta Force for protection, putting her directly in Gunnar's path.
I absolutely loved watching Gunnar try to keep Devyn's bratty side in check. She did everything she could to push his buttons, and he had to constantly remind her that when it came to her safety, the rules weren't optional. Gunnar is a bit of a grump, and because he's in his 50s, the others love calling him the "old man." But don't let the grumpy exterior fool you, he's obsessive, possessive, and fiercely protective. Devyn is a spoiled, sassy celebrity who has never been particularly interested in following rules. But when she discovers she has a stalker, she turns to the Delta Force for protection, putting her directly in Gunnar's path.
I absolutely loved watching Gunnar try to keep Devyn's bratty side in check. She did everything she could to push his buttons, and he had to constantly remind her that when it came to her safety, the rules weren't optional. I devoured this book in a single day because once Gunnar and Devyn were on the page together, there was no stopping. Their chemistry is electric from the very beginning, but what really sold me was the emotional depth underneath all of the tension. Gunnar may be ruthless, possessive, and willing to burn the world down for his woman, but every action is rooted in protecting Devyn—even when it costs him.
Devyn is exactly the kind of heroine I love. She isn’t overshadowed by Gunnar’s intensity. She challenges him, softens him, and gives him something worth fighting for. Their relationship felt earned, making every tender moment hit even harder after the chaos surrounding them.
The romance is equal parts beautifully vulnerable and absolutely feral. One chapter had me swooning, the next had me clutching my Kindle, and somehow J.L. Quick balanced both without missing a beat.

The tension between our two main characters was at an all time high. The bickering led to some very spicy scenes that I'm definitely not complaining about. Our daddy Gunnar certainly had a domineering command that would have anyone falling to their knees.
There were many plot twists and action in this read as well as some very emotional scenes that had me hooked.

I picked this up because I wanted nasty Daddy kink and J.L. Quick apparently heard me screaming from across the fucking internet.
Devyn is bratty, mouthy, famous, allergic to being told what to do, and Gunnar is a silver fox bodyguard built entirely out of rules, control issues, and increasingly questionable professional boundaries. So naturally she starts poking at him for sport and this man spends half the book acting like he is not two seconds away from putting her over his knee.
Sir. Be serious.
The tension between them was FILTHY. Age gap, bodyguard, forced proximity, Daddy kink, free use, brat/Dom energy... this book took my personal list of poor decisions and turned it into a syllabus.
And what made it hotter was that Devyn never stopped being Devyn. She still pushes, still mouths off, still makes Gunnar work for every ounce of control she gives him. Their dynamic felt playful and dirty rather than her suddenly losing her entire personality because an older man growled at her.
Gunnar trying to resist her was also deeply unserious because babes, we all saw where this was going.
There is technically a stalker, danger, mystery, twists, MEN WITH JOBS doing tactical things in the background, and yes, I was paying attention.
Mostly.
Because this was a quick read for one very important reason:
It was hot.
Just... hot.
The kind of book where you finish a chapter, lower the Kindle for a second, stare into the middle distance, and then continue because apparently dignity is optional now.

Gunnar first opposes working with celebrities, but after reviewing her files, he decides to give it a shot. Something cracks between them when they first meet.
Gunnar is a grumpy, possessive, protective, and alpha man who wants to be Devyn's safe place. He doesn't think twice about protecting Devyn and setting the world on fire to keep her safe after realising that she is truly in danger.
Devyn is a confident, sassy, naive, and smart woman who put in a lot of effort to get where she is today. She was aware that there are negative aspects of being famous, but she didn't anticipate that someone would be so infatuated with her that he would harm her.
Devyn and Gunnar make a wonderful couple.
She holds her ground and doesn't back down in front of Gunnar. In every situation, she challenges him and when she can, she also defies him. Gunnar has difficulties to handle her because of her rebellious nature.
However, everything changes from the moment Devyn becomes his. Gunnar gives this assignment his whole attention and turns it into a personal one. They have a strong and deep connection. Despite his best efforts to hide his desires, one day he lost it and gave it his all.
I thoroughly enjoyed the unexpected twists in the plot, which were brilliantly.
I'm sad to say goodbye to this lovely series, but I'm excited to see what J.L. has planned for us in the future.

I think Gunnar is my favorite of the Delta Daddies. I really liked the tropes in this book and it was used in a way that was not overly done. The author does not specifically state the major trope but you can figure out what it is if you follow the spicy world. Gunnar was so take charge and I liked that dominant energy. He was perfect for Devyn. She needs someone who can take charge of her life and make sure she is cared for and protected at all times. Devyn is a Hollywood actress. She hires his team because she has a stalker situation that has become out of control. She is being stalked to an unhealthy and to a potientially lethal degree. These guys are at the top of their field and are the best. They take her security and safety very seriously where as she is not as concerned as she should be. She needs to be redirected when she breaks protocol. Gunnar is the perfect man for the job. He whips her into shape in more ways than one. They are perfect for each other. This group of daddies was a great one. Each one had something that they brought that was different than the others. I liked how this story provided most of the closure that was necessary for this series. I wish there were a few more things addressed about their futures, but maybe the author is saving those litttle pieces for a novella or to be seen in other series. All in all this series was fantastic and hit all the buttons for me as a reader. If you like daddy books like me, I recommend checking out this series. I cannot wait to see what else this author has in store for us.

Gunnar by J.L. Quick is part of the Dark Daddies of Delta Force series, and I absolutely love this series!
Devyn is a Hollywood superstar who hires security after winning her first Oscar and finding herself the target of an escalating stalker. Gunnar leads the Aegis Tactical Solutions team hired to protect her. I love all the men in this group. Their banter is fantastic, and they bring so much fun to every story.
It took me what felt like forever to warm up to Devyn. While I understood that she was scared, it didn't excuse her extreme behavior or her constant disregard for the men she hired to keep her safe. More than once, I wanted to reach into my Kindle and shake some sense into her!
The suspense was one of my favorite parts of the story. I thought I had figured out the stalker's identity, only to change my mind at least six times. I flew through this book because I needed to know if my suspicions were right. No spoilers here, though!
I previously thought Jagger was my favorite of the series, but Gunnar may have officially taken that spot. A totally manly, slightly obsessed, towering silver fox? Yes, please! While I can't imagine needing protection from a stalker, I would definitely be inclined to listen to everything Gunnar had to say. 😉
Gunnar and Devyn had incredible chemistry, although I do wish their emotional connection had been developed a bit more throughout the story.

I freaking loved Gunnar and Devyn. Devyn is such a brat and has absolutely no problem giving Gunnar a hard time, which made their dynamic so much fun. She does NOT want to follow his rules and Gunnar is basically like, “Yeah… you’re going to anyway.” 😂
And Gunnar is EVERYTHING. Protective, possessive, dominant, completely obsessed with keeping Devyn safe. Very much a touch her and die kind of man, and I am absolutely here for it. 🥵🔥
I also really enjoyed the stalker/suspense part of the story because it kept things interesting without taking away from the romance. We got the danger, the spice, the tension, but also some really sweet and vulnerable moments between Gunnar and Devyn that I loved.
And the spice? Yeah… Daddy Gunnar did not disappoint. 👀🔥

I cannot get enough of these Dark Daddies of Delta Force. J.L. Quick has me in a chokehold with these former Spec-Ops men! Gunnar did not disappoint! That man decided years ago that he just didn’t have time for anything but protecting his brothers and family. Then in walks Devyn. She blows every wall he has to dust and is the first woman to dig so far under his skin that she is all he can see. And his team, Jagger especially, doesn't let him off the hook easily. Devyn is not your typical Hollywood starlet who demands the world bend to her every whim. She worked hard to become the hottest thing on the silver screen. She is at the height of her career when who she thinks is an overzealous fan escalates and begins invading her sanctuary. Now her home is filled with a different invasion…dangerously good looking military men who bring s world of tension and longing with them. Who will break first, Gunnar’s walls, Devyn’s determination, or the Stalker’s craftiness?
I loved every second of this book. The banter and the spice cannot be beat. We get to see more dynamic between the guys and all our old favorite daddies are along for the ride. Quick has an amazing way of drawing the reader into each characters’ personality and unique outlook and then turns up the heat when the tension finally combusts. I could not put this book down. Seriously, instabuy author for sure!

Gunnar written by J.L. Quick is the fourth book in the Dark Daddies of Delta Force series. Thank you to Luna Literary for the ability to continue this series by reading the ARC. I am completely feral for this series. I cannot read these fast enough. Every time I read the next book I think it can’t get any better. Then the author does it again and makes the next one even better. I have to say I loved each one of the previous couples, but this one may be my favorite!
Gunnar is the epitome of touch her and die with a heavy dose of burn the world down to protect her. The protective, strong, possessive nature Gunnar exudes is everything I love about J.L. Quick’s writing. Devyn is the Hollywood starlet who has danger lurking in the shadows. She is no delicate flower though. She is feisty and gives as good as she gets. The love that developed between these two was intense, but also wrapped up in delicate intimacy. There were explosive moments and then in the next chapter there was tender vulnerability.
J.L. always delivers the daddies with perfection. This series is one of my favorites for 2026. What will she come up with next? The plot, spice, danger, suspense, and love was completely balanced. I love all the twists that were thrown at us in this series. I did not see THAT coming. IYKYK….Devyn and Gunnar were pure perfection!

I swear I would’ve devoured this book in one sitting, but everyday life and actual adulthood sometimes force you not to read.
Anyway—holy hell, what a book again. J.L.’s ability to create a hot Daddy and a Brat time after time is honestly admirable. Gunnar is the oldest and grumpiest of the group—you know the type—speaks little and proves everything with his skills. Especially Jagger keeps poking at Gunnar with his mischief, and I love Jagger’s chaotic energy more every time. At the same time Gunnar is a fantastic silver fox who doesn’t need words when his actions speak for him.
And Dewyn—oh damn, the spoiled Brat in this woman is something else—and at the same time she’s impressively stubborn and stupidly brave. But then again, who wouldn’t get annoyed when their freedom is restricted, even if it’s by four unbelievably gorgeous military daddies.
Dewyn and Gunnar are a sizzling, fascinating pair from the very first meeting, and when we get to the spicy scenes—yes, Gunnar is Daddy with a capital D.
As far as I’ve understood, this is the final book in the Military Daddies series, and I read it with a bit of sadness. I adore this series and recommend it wholeheartedly.
