She needed a hero… what she got was a Daddy.

JAGGER

War has taken its toll—on my body, my soul, and what little mercy I had left. I’ve stared death in the face more times than I can count. But Dr. Blake Hart? She’s a different kind of danger. All rules and restraint, with a mouth as sharp as her scalpel. Too bad, I don’t follow rules, I make them.

She thinks she’s untouchable, behind her white coat and calm professionalism, but I see the way I’m unraveling her. I’m going to ruin her—slowly, completely—until she forgets every rule she swore an oath to follow and is on her knees swearing new ones to me.

BLAKE
My whole career, I have trained to stay detached, professional, and in control. I fix broken men, I don't fall for them. Until Bryce Jagger. He’s arrogant, stubborn, and impossible to ignore. One night was all it took to lose control, to let him matter, and for me to feel something I swore I never would.

When the consequences of a deadly decision resurface, the man I’m trying not to let into my heart becomes the only one standing between me and the darkness hunting me. To survive, I must obey his every command. But when his orders blur with Daddy’s rules, I realize survival isn’t what I’m fighting for anymore… he is.

Physicians Beyond Frontiers led Dr. Blake Hart to a hospital in the war-torn desert city of Jadiriah. Her sense of duty led her to defy the culture and treat a pregnant woman against her husband’s demands.

When the patient goes missing after surviving emergency surgery, Aegis Tactical Solutions is called in, with Bryce Jagger leading the mission.

Yes, I have another Daddy obsession. Jagger is all that. He’s a caretaker and a bulldozer. He’s also a bullet-taking beast in the sheets (or stairwell…). The Daddy dynamic came a wee bit quickly, but I loved Blake and Jagger’s instant connection, which felt genuine.

Unfortunately, as much as I tried to love this book I fear military romances may not be my cup of tea and I have mixed feelings about it. I do love a dual narration that allows us to see more into each character. I loved how passionate Blake was about her work and the risks she was willing to take to protect her patient(s). The breeding kink from almost the very beginning was a bit of an ick for me though. One of the things that I think the author did the best with was the discription of this stories setting, I could close my eyes and see it. I'm not one to yuck somebody's yum, so, I do believe if your'e someone who loves daddy/breeding kinks, this may be a book for you.

Thank you to the author and Luna Literary Management for the e-arc <3

Military romance di cui avevo aspettative altissime che purtroppo non sono state raggiunte, mi è piaciuto un pò nel complesso ma troppe scene spicy e poca trama, il primo libro mi è piaciuto ma questo mi sono veramente forzata nel leggerlo

🇬🇧
Military romance of which I had very high expectations that unfortunately were not met, I liked it a bit overall but too many spicy scenes and little plot, I liked the first book but I really forced myself to read this one

✨ 𝘿𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪 ✨

This is my ARC review of Jagger. This is book 2 of Delta Daddies.
I was looking forward to this read after loving ‘Hawk’ so much.
I wasn’t a fan of how quickly it went into the daddy kink, but I’m not here to kink shame!

❝𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞’𝐬 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞, 𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐲.❞

We follow Jagger (a.k.a Daddy), one of Hawk’s men and Blake (Doc) a nurse who is supporting in a run down hospital. When Jagger and Blake meet, it’s explosive, firey and the banter is brilliant!

❝𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝. 𝐌𝐲 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.❞

Whilst this book wasn’t as action packed, I still enjoyed the storyline and I loved that we had another strong, leading FMC who doesn’t *need* a man, but, they are a bonus.

❝𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐞𝐫. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐞’𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟.❞

The one thing I loved about this book, was the spice. The breeding. The hot, spicy and sensual scenes added the cherry on top of this book.

❝𝐈’𝐦 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞. 𝐈’𝐦 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞. 𝐈’𝐦 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮.❞

Blake is a doctor and she is honestly a bleeding heart who would do anything to ensure her patients safety and wellbeing. She is tenacious and stubborn as hell but she stands by her beliefs and I love that about her character.

Jagger meets Blake in a poorly funded hospital and he immediately has a thing for her. I'm not saying it's instalove but the attraction is there and it's HOT 🔥🔥🔥 These two have chemistry and click from the beginning and when they finally come together? It's like they both realized something changed. Add in that Jagger is a pleasure daddy 🥵🥵🥵 He is a joker and less serious of the group but man, does he just make me all hot and bothered 😂 Also, he has a massive sweet side and it just made me extra 🫠🫠🫠

Jagger is an amazing read! Loved the book and the characters.

ARC review

Blake Hart is a dedicated and rebellious doctor working in a war torn hospital, and Jagger is a charming, reckless ex-Delta Force operative sent to protect her when Blake becomes entangled in a dangerous mystery involving a missing pregnant woman. Jagger inserts himself into her life, blurring the lines between protection and obsession. The book has tense action, witty banter and slow burn romance.
I loved how Blake puts humans above the “system” of the country. Her moral compass is very much on point and if I where in her situation I would probably have done something similar. I loved how her character was build and portrayed. Jagger is witty, confident and reckless. I like him the most when he lets his guard down, I feel we see glimpses of the man beneath the bravado at those times,
The setting in this book was very vividly described. Especially that scene where they try to escape, it was like I was there.
I very much liked the part of the book that was about the moral dilemma and the fallout of that. I somehow didn't felt the relationship between Blake and Jagger all that much. I'm not sure why exactly, but I do think that the feeling it was a bit rushed is one of the causes.

✨ ARC Review✨

Let’s see…

You know I’m fully obsessed with daddies in books, and I was so excited about this one. We have here a really big Daddy.
A Daddy who will take care of you, a Daddy who will make you his, and who will always ask if you want this.

And I need to tell you, there are three sex toys that will deeply impress Daddy.

But in this story, I fell in love with the bravery of Dr. Hart.
She risks her life to save a mother and her baby.
This is something we should all look at more deeply. I know this is not the main focus of the book, but it touched me so much.

It has great sex, great Daddy words, and a dirty mouth.
What more do you need?

Thank you for your books, which always put me in a trance with every new Daddy.

Ohmahgawd… Jagger 😮‍💨
I went into this expecting a good dark romance and came out fully obsessed. Inked, military, bad-boy energy with a breeding kink? I mean… what was I supposed to do, not love him? ☠️

The suspense kept me hooked, but it was Jagger himself that really did me in. He’s dominant, possessive, very much “touch her and die,” and "who did this to you" completely obsessed in a way that just works for this story. The chemistry was strong, the power dynamic was intense, and the spice absolutely delivered. 🌶️🌶️🌶️

⭐️ 2/5

I felt this book had potential, but didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The plot didn’t make sense and had a bunch of loose ends. The relationship between Jagger and Blake felt disconnected and Blake went from wanting nothing to do with Jagger to suddenly being head over heels. The breeding/daddy kink played out kind of cringe as well. I wish the author had went more into some of the details and was able to flesh out some more of the story.

Thank you J.L. Quick for providing this e-ARC. All opinions are my own.

🌶🌶 - Spice Level

Jagger is once again sent, with his team, to a war torn area looking for a woman who was pregnant and didn't turn up. Their team encounters a spitfire of a doctor from the organization tasked with running a "hospital" in the area.

Jagger was immediately intrigued and taken by this little spitfire and needed to get close to her. This fine man was brought to his knees when Blake starts to finally accept his charms and I ain't mad about it. He's gentle, but protective and playful when needed. You will absolutely fall for this giant of a man watching him fall for Blake.

Blake has a huge heart for the patients she treats, but still on guard for anyone seeking to do harm to any of them. It took 1 split second decision that then made her and a patient a target. Jagger knocked down some walls of hers and showed his spicy daddy side. This man has a breeding kink only for only for Blake, with pushing it back in. What Jagger wants, Jagger will get.

Thank you author for the ARC!

Loved Jagger and Blake! Their story was fast paced and full of action and suspense but also had great banter, the chemistry was off the charts and the romance?!? Jagger had me laughing and blushing! He was definitely the perfect combination of swoony and alpha.

But let’s not forget Blake. This woman is a total baddie! She has her moral compass and she doesn’t deviate under any kind of pressure. I loved her empathy but it also broke me at times. She had me bawling my eyes out but I was 100% in her corner.

Each Dark Daddy book is full of danger and good vs evil but the characters really make tgis series stand out. I’m hooked on this series and can’t wait to see the rest of the team pair up!

Favorite Bits:
🖤 The banter!
🖤 loved how in sync Blake and Jagger are, right from the start.
🖤 Gunnar, I need his story!!!

This book doesn’t ease you in.
It grabs you by the throat and says, choose.
Choose the oath.
Choose the mission.
Choose the woman.
And then it dares everyone in the room to survive the consequences.

Blake Hart: A Woman Who Refuses to Let Them Die
From Blake’s first line—
“What the hell do you mean, I need a man’s permission?”
—you know exactly who she is.
Not reckless. Not naive.
Righteous.
The war-torn hospital setting is brutal. Failing generators. Blood-soaked sheets. A woman hemorrhaging while bureaucracy debates her worth. The atmosphere is suffocating, and it makes Blake’s rage feel earned.
Maryam isn’t just a patient.
She’s a test.
Blake is told to wait for a husband’s consent while a placental abruption steals seconds from both mother and baby. The rule is clear. The consequences are clear.
And she operates anyway.
That moment? That’s the spine of this book.
Because Blake doesn’t swear an oath to culture, fear, or politics.
She swears it to life.
When she saves Maryam against the husband’s explicit wishes, she doesn’t just break a rule. She detonates one.
And from that choice, everything burns.

Enter Jagger: Beautiful Disaster With a Gun
Jagger’s POV is chaos in motion.
Sparring at 0600.
Cracking jokes while getting choked out.
Bored out of his mind because peace is louder than gunfire.
The Aegis team dynamic? Elite.
The banter with Gunnar is sharp, filthy, and brotherly in a way that feels real. These are men who function best in war zones because silence lets their ghosts get too close.
Jagger doesn’t want calm.
He wants impact.
So when Aegis is called to Jadiriah to locate Maryam—after her brother reaches out—the mission drops him directly into Blake’s orbit.
And from the second he sees her?
It’s over.

The Interrogation That Turns Into Obsession
Jagger questioning Blake about Maryam should feel threatening.
Instead, it simmers.
Because he clocks her immediately:
Her airtight routine.
Hospital. Shuttle. Apartment. Repeat.
No distractions. No mistakes.
That’s not a woman living freely.
That’s a woman bracing for impact.
He follows her for three days. Watches. Waits. Calculates.
Not because he’s patient.
Because impatience gets people killed.
When he fakes an injury just to get inside her exam room?
Unhinged behavior. I loved it.
Blake sees right through him. Diagnoses him with “mild delusion.” Hands him a prescription that says: Don’t waste doctors’ time.
But she’s thinking about him after.
And that’s the problem.

The Market Scene
When Jagger “accidentally” runs into her at the market and she’s nearly kidnapped?
That’s when attraction shifts to possession.
He saves her. Takes her home. Refuses to leave.
And suddenly the line between protection and obsession blurs.
He already calls himself Daddy.
Unprovoked.
Unapologetic.
Unhinged.

The Spice: Filthy, Dominant, Unfiltered
Let’s address it.
The mouth on this man?
Criminal.
“Come all over Daddy’s face.”
I—
He is dominant in a way that borders feral. Pushy. Cocky. Arrogant. Zero respect for boundaries in the beginning.
And Blake knows it.
She categorizes him immediately:
Men who run toward chaos because silence is worse.
But here’s what makes it work:
Blake is not submissive in spirit.
She challenges him.
Calls him reckless.
Refuses to be intimidated.
Even when he personally removes her birth control implant (yes, that scene is wild), the power dynamic is complicated. It’s not soft. It’s not sweet.
It’s messy, primal, and very dark romance-coded.
If you like your MMCs morally questionable with soft eyes that don’t match the damage they carry?
Jagger is that man.

The Real Conflict
While they’re burning up sheets, Blake is hiding Maryam in the hospital.
Risking everything.
Jagger initially tells his team he slept with Blake to gather information.
Lie.
He’s already hooked.
When the threat escalates, when Maryam, Zahra, and the baby need extraction?
This shifts from dark romance to tactical rescue.
The Chicago escape plan.
Sneaking everyone out.
Aegis moving like a machine.
That’s when Jagger stops running from ghosts and starts running toward something.
Her.

I devoured this book like it was oxygen, which shouldn’t have been such a shock because I did the exact same with Hawk & Reese’s story.

Jagger drops you straight into the heat, the danger, and the absolutely feral chemistry between Jagger and Blake and it never lets up. J.L. Quick knows exactly what she’s doing with this series: dark, dominant, military‑grade obsession wrapped in high‑stakes suspense, and this second book might be the most addictive yet.

Blake Hart is a doctor working in the Middle East, doing everything she can to protect a woman and her child after going against the husband’s orders. She’s smart, capable, and carrying the kind of quiet strength that makes you root for her from the start. And then there’s Jagger, he’s a military operative, lethal, controlled, and absolutely wired to take care of what’s his.

When his team is sent to find the woman that Blake is protecting, the mission turns into something far more personal. The moment he lays eyes on her, the dynamic shifts. The daddy energy is absolutely off the charts. The breeding kink is woven in with a confidence that makes your pulse spike. The tension between them is a live wire of danger, desire, and that primal need to claim and protect. Jagger can be perfectly summed up with two words: possessive devotion. He never tries to overshadow Blake, just keep her safe. Blake is stubborn but even she understands her limits, but trusts Jagger completely.

“You’ll take what Daddy gives you, won’t you? Because you want to be a good girl for me.”

This book gives you literally the best of both worlds; it has a plot that keeps you turning pages just as fast as the romance does. There’s the suspense element as Blake and her colleague Zahra, plus Jagger and his guys works to save Maryam and her baby AND spice that just hits every single time.

It’s dark, it’s dirty, it’s deliciously intense and it expands the world of the Dark Daddies of Delta Force in a way that makes you desperate for the next book. If you’re here for high‑heat, high‑danger, high‑obsession romance, Jagger delivers exactly what you’re looking for.

A huge thank you to J.L. Quick & Luna Literary for the early copy!

• 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 -

This story follows Dr. Blake, a strong and independent doctor working overseas, who performs a life-saving surgery on a powerful man’s wife. The surgery saves the mother and baby girl, but it also sparks a dangerous chain of events tied to politics, control, and ego. When the patient disappears and threats begin circling, security operative Jagger is assigned to investigate. What starts as suspicion slowly turns into protection, partnership, and something far deeper.
This book had me hooked from the very first chapter. The tension was not only romantic but political and emotional too. I loved how the story balanced action and feelings without losing intensity. Every rescue scene felt real and high stakes. Every quiet moment between them felt earned.
Jagger is the kind of hero who is dangerous to everyone except her. He is dominant but never controlling in a toxic way. He protects, he listens, and he respects her strength. That combination made him irresistible. The way he chooses her again and again without taking away her independence melted me.
Blake is not a damsel. She is smart, brave, and emotionally layered. She carries guilt, responsibility, and strength so beautifully. I loved that she never lost herself in the romance. She stands beside him, not behind him.
The slow burn was perfect. The chemistry was intense but meaningful. Their connection grew through trust, danger, and shared battles. When they finally gave in, it felt powerful and deserved.
This book gave me action, emotion, possessive energy, and soft hidden feelings all together. I was fully invested till the epilogue.

ARC REVIEW — Jagger by J. L. Quick
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall: 4/5
🌶️🌶️🌶️ Spice: 3/5

Jagger is the second book in this interconnected standalone series, and it leans confidently into its darker dynamics while keeping the suspense element strong.

Bryce Jagger is a hardened, battle scarred hero whose control runs deep, both professionally and personally. He isn’t soft, and he isn’t subtle. His presence on the page is dominant from the start, and once he sets his focus on Blake, the tone of the story shifts into something intensely possessive and protective.

Blake Hart is strong in her own right, intelligent, disciplined, and used to being the one in control. Watching her carefully structured world unravel as the tension between them builds was one of the highlights of the story. Their dynamic thrives on that push and pull between authority and surrender, restraint and need.

This book fully embraces:
• Daddy Dom dynamics
• Age gap
• Protective “touch her and you’re done” energy
• He falls first
• Breeding kink elements

The suspense thread adds weight to the romance and raises the stakes beyond just the relationship itself, which I appreciated. The external danger helps justify the intensity of their bond and keeps the pacing tight.

While the dynamic is dominant heavy, it stays consistent with the tone set in Hawk and fits well within the world J. L. Quick is building. As with Hawk, it softens slightly toward the end into a more traditional romantic resolution, but it still maintains the edge that defines the series.

Overall, Jagger delivers a darker, dominant romance with solid tension and a strong continuation of the interconnected world. If you enjoyed Hawk and prefer your heroes intense, protective, and unapologetically in control, this will absolutely work for you.

I’m looking forward to seeing where the series goes next.

I received this book as an ARC ahead of release, and as book two in the series, it absolutely delivered.
From chapter one, I was hooked by the moral dilemma at the center of the story. The idea that one life-altering medical decision could ripple across culture, ethics, and multiple lives immediately gave the book emotional weight. I wasn’t expecting that level of depth right away, and it set the tone beautifully.
What I loved most is how the author balances intensity with humor. The banter (especially between Jagger and Gunnar) provided much-needed comic relief, and the story moves seamlessly from emotionally heavy moments to high-stakes tension to romantic and spicy scenes. The pacing keeps you fully engaged.
Jagger is protective, corny, resourceful, and occasionally ridiculous in a way that makes him feel real and layered. I especially appreciated that we got to fall for his personality before receiving a full physical description — it made his character development stronger. Blake is equally compelling, grounded, and strong in her own right, and her friendship with Zahra adds such a meaningful emotional layer.
One of the kinks explored in this book isn’t typically my personal preference, but it was handled thoughtfully and never overshadowed the plot. The spice felt character-driven rather than gratuitous, and the first reveal added depth to both characters instead of feeling random.
The epilogue was satisfying and gave a great glimpse into their future, though I wouldn’t complain about more updates on certain side characters. Overall, this was fast-paced, emotionally layered, and well-balanced between romance, tension, and humor. If you enjoy protective MMCs, strong heroines, and romance that blends emotional intensity with spice, this is definitely worth the read.

I’m so glad I found J.L. Quick

Her stories have so many layers while still keeping that romance and desire fully at the forefront. The plot is developed, the characters change and evolve and still in little time, we feel their emotions change and grow, not matter how fast, because who’s to say what’s right? I specially appreciate her HEA. Not everyone wants kids, or not everyone wants to be married… those little details make me appreciate these stories more.

Jagger had me intrigued since I met him, he’s laid back, cocky and a jokester, but still dominant and so very caring. He fell immediately, he was done for on sight and he was not leaving things up to chance. He was so hot, the blueprint for an MMC…for a Daddy.

And my girl Blake? Talk about a big heart on a baddie! She was brave, resilient and so very selfless. Her desire to make the world better driving her to sacrifice. She needed the support and peace Jagger brought her. She was the safe haven for all and he was the home for her to rest.

I truly cannot wait for more of these men. I crave J.L. Quick’s stories and I’ll take as many as she gives us!

Thank you, Luna and J.L., for this arc!

Quotes:

I force myself from the bed before I can't. Before I find myself actually carving that tiny little implant out of her arm so I can fuck my baby into her.

"No one will ever hurt you like this again, " he continues, his rhythm never faltering. "No one. I won't let them. I’ll be your shield. I’ll be your safe place."

"I love you. I want to spend every part of my life with you. The loud days, the hard ones, and the soft mornings when we don't say much at all. I want to grow a family with you, filling a home with love. I want everything. I want the rest of my life to be you."

Daddy Jagger wrecked me. Absolutely, unapologetically, happily wrecked me. Jagger is dark, intense, possessive, and emotionally loaded in a way that sinks its teeth in and refuses to let go.

Bryce Jagger is not a soft hero. He’s sharp edges, war scars, control forged by survival, and a presence that fills the room before he even speaks. He doesn’t ask. He commands. And somehow, beneath all that iron, there’s devotion so fierce it borders on terrifying. Watching him fixate on Blake and decide she’s his felt inevitable, like gravity doing its thing.

Blake Hart was perfection. Calm, clinical, brilliant, and holding herself together with rules she’s lived by her entire career. A woman who fixes broken men for a living and never lets herself need anyone. Until Jagger. Her unraveling was slow, painful, and so satisfying. The push and pull between her professionalism and the way she wanted to surrender hit hard.

The power exchange was done so well. It wasn’t just about dominance, it was about trust, protection, and choosing to let go when the world is closing in. When survival becomes obedience, and obedience starts to blur into something deeper, something emotional? Yeah. That’s where this book shines.

The danger threaded through the story kept the tension tight. There was always something lurking, always a sense that the past was catching up, making Jagger stepping into the protector role feel earned, not performative. He doesn’t just want Blake. He will burn the world down to keep her breathing.

Dark, spicy, emotional, and consuming. Daddy Jagger and Blake were perfection. If you love morally grey men, strong women who finally let themselves fall, and stories where control and devotion collide, this book is a must-read. I’m still thinking about it. 🔥🖤📖

My Spicy Rating: 3.5🌶

I don't think I've ever loved a breeding kink trope so much until this book. Those spicy scenes were just 🥵. Very, very hot. Daddy Jagger is funny. Such a flirt. He's intense. He's obsessed. He's passionate. Has a naughty mouth. He is also very protective. A softie for her and is such a sweetheart. That last chapter where he goes back to get something that's precious to Blake. My heart was so happy. I am loving this series so much. I can't wait for the next book. With all those tiny hints, I hope the FMC is who I think it is. If not, she still deserves a very good HEA.

Jagger is intended to also be read as a standalone but I would read Hawk first before reading Jagger. In Hawk, it goes over some of Jagger's past. How he became part of Aegis, etc. It also goes into more detail on who Abby and Mattis are. To me, they are a big part of Hawk and Jagger's story. I love a series that flows well between books and starting with Hawk will make the experience so much better. Besides, why would you not want to read about daddy Hawk and his sassy Reese. Also, Jagger is extremely funny in Hawk so make sure to read both.

Thank you for letting me ARC read this amazing book.

WHEW, this was GGGGOOOODDDD!! And it just kept getting better and better. I appreciate when both the MMC and FMC fall hard and fast for each other and don’t waste time! Blake knew what she wanted and went for it! She might have hesitated a little, but she knew. Jagger knew too. Life is short, don’t waste it.

I love the found family with this Aegis group. I love seeing more of them and learning about the others. They have each other’s backs even when they’re mad or irritated at each other. They are all in.

The minute that the other guys saw what’s really happening behind the scenes with this situation (no spoilers), there is no hesitation.

I really liked Blake a lot. A small woman with a big personality and even bigger heart. Jagger wants to protect ALL of her. I am a sucker for size difference 🥵 and for care taking.

The ending and epilogue of this book….OMG 🥹🥹🥹 Again, no spoilers, but SO GOOD!! I can’t wait to see who is next. 🤗

Highly recommend.

This can be read as a standalone. Although, I do suggest reading Book 1, Hawk, for the best reading experience

“ I love you. I want to spend every part of my life with you. The loud days, the hard ones, and the soft mornings when we don’t say much at all. I want to grow a family with you, filling a home with love. I want everything. I want the rest of my life to be you.”

Dr. Blake Hart is the doctor when a pregnant woman is about to die. In the country she’s in, they need the husband’s permission to proceed with surgery. Her husband didn’t give the permission but Dr. Hart proceeded anyway and then hid her and the baby. Now the woman’s husband is looking for her and going after Dr. Hart. Enter Jagger. His team has been hired by the woman’s brother to find his sister. When Jagger and Dr. Hart meet, he is adamant that he’s going to ruin her in the best of ways, and make her his.

So… this book has been all over Bookstagram and everyone’s reviews made me want to read this book. Unfortunately for me, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. There were aspects that I loved about this book, but then there are definitely things that I didn’t like about it.

I’ll start with what I liked. Blake going against the country’s way of life and saving that woman and her baby was my favorite part of the book. Blake then goes on to protect this woman and her baby, even putting her own life at risk. It was brave and selfless, and I loved it!

Now, let’s get on to the romance between Jagger and Blake. I didn’t believe it at all. It felt so rushed that I never felt the connection was really established. This is a full length book, but the romance part of it felt like I was reading a novella. I also learned that I do NOT like when the woman calls her man “daddy.” I also didn’t like the punishment scene in the car – leave that for private.

This is a really fast read, and I was able to finish it within a few hours. Unfortunately, it was just okay for me. I am glad that I gave it a try though!

✨ARC Review✨

Well, If I thought Hawk was hot and dangerous, he’s got nothing on Unhinged, Single Minded Bryce Jagger.

Bryce Jagger. He embodies the “damaged protector” persona, He is ferociously competent, emotionally distant, and lethal in his reflexes. Dr. Blake Hart, a trauma surgeon, stands opposite him. His clinical distance and independent professionalism stand in stark contrast to Jagger's commanding anger.

In the inciting thread, Blake is reluctantly thrown into Bryce's orbit when a dangerous circumstance reappears, forcing her to depend on him for both emotional and physical survival. What starts off as a grudging collaboration swiftly develops into something far more complex and contentious.

Going from the last series to this series I thought the Mafia daddies were unhinged, but they’ve got nothing on Hawk and the team at Aegis.

This book is another example of Quick's skill at creating flawed but captivating protagonists. Bryce exudes the traditional “alpha with a wounded soul” vibe: self-assured on the exterior, vulnerable on the inside, and completely captivating. Conversely, Blake defies conventional damsel-in-distress clichés by maintaining her ferocious independence and internal stability even as she is lured farther into Jagger's perilous world.

If you love these tropes: He falls first, Bre*ding Kink, Heroine in danger and “WHO DID THIS TO YOU”, you will absolutely love Jagger!

I want to thank J.L. Quick and Luna Literary for the opportunity to read and review Jagger

Jagger by J.L. Quick is the second book in the Dark Daddies of Delta Force series. Thank you to Luna Literary for the opportunity to read this ARC. I read the first book in the series and I could not wait for the series to continue. This author opened me up to the military trope. The books in this series can be read independently, but they are interconnected. However, I would recommend that you read Hawk first.

This book is hot and spicy but there was a great storyline too. So far this series has lead us into desolate deserts. Blake is a doctor that is working in an extremely run down hospital. She finds herself in a controversial situation on the job, following her gut and taking action that could be dangerous. Jagger met her on an assignment related to her decisions.

Almost immediately Jagger knew Blake was keeping secrets and wanted to help protect her from a terrible fate. The two were like a match and a stick of dynamite. The mouth on Jagger is hot and filthy. Blake was extremely responsive to anything Jagger said, feral for Daddy Jagger. It was nice to see how their relationship developed into something deep and meaningful by the end.

I was happy to see past characters incorporated into this book. I cannot wait to read the upcoming books for the last two men of this friend group. The stories get better and better. This book has a little bit of everything for the romance reader. There are so many tropes to choose from to enjoy this book. I can go on and on about this series, but it is worth the read.

** Received as an ARC, Thankyou**

After Hawk i was INVESTED in these other guys and was curious as to how they would get their HEA, and after making assumptions about Jagger and Abby from book 1 i was surprised to see who the FMC was BUT

IT WAS SOOOO GOOOD!!!!!

if you've read my review of Hawk you'll remember the "daddy kink' doesn't make my top 5 and book 1 leaned HEAVY into it but the story was good so i pushed through..

Jagger was done differently and I found it much easier to read through the way the kink was done. THIS IS A PERSONAL PREFERENCE, huge disclaimer there, as I know everyone approaches kinks differently and I will NEVER yuck anyone's yum. I just love when the story is so good I can still appreciate the spice while it not being my fav.

Jagger is everything, funny and charming and HOT of course.. but you get little glimpses of his squishy inside and I just LOVE HIM!

Blake.. omg.. the woman we all wanna be. The beginning chapters demolished me... I wanna be her BFF!!

I love the way JL Quick does things a little bit differently, book one we got the "still wanna travel, don't wanna have kids" FMC and here we get "we don't have to get married" FMC and also we didn't get these big huge "i love yous" the story told us the characters were in love and were it for each other with out needing a wedding and a big "stumble to say i love you"

I am so excited to continue this series!

LOVE!!

ARC REVIEW

Jagger by @jlquickwrites

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️

I don’t think I am alone in the fact that I have read books where the FMC is almost like a secondary character an only has a presence to support the story of the MMC. If you find this as anger inducing as me, welcome to the world of the Dark Daddies of Delta Force where the story is the FMC with the MMCs supporting the story line. It’s a refreshing change to have absolute bad ass FMCs who are moral, just, doing the right thing and willing to risk it all to do it. If anyone writes a book about me, I want it to be @jlquickwrites

Blake is an amazing FMC. I want to be just like her, I want to be friends with her. I adore her. A doctor who makes a tough and morally just decision and risks it all. Don’t get me wrong the Daddy, protective, touch her and die vibes of Jagger are absolutely welcome but this is Blake’s story and it’s blummin brilliant.

There is darkness in the plot, but that comes from the wider context rather than the main characters. @jlquickwrites is discussing real life events which can/have taken place which for me is brilliant. It’s fast paced, I read from cover to cover in one day because I was just so desperate to know what happened and what the final ending would be.

Jagger is the 2nd book in the series. You don’t have to read book 1, but you absolutely should. And then join me in not so patiently waiting for Damon’s book set to release later in the year!!

Jagger continues the Dark Daddies of Delta Force series with the same gritty, emotionally charged atmosphere introduced in the first book. Like Hawk, this story is a blend of danger, dominance and emotional tension, though the focus leans more into the clash between control and vulnerability.

Jagger is exactly what you would expect from a man shaped by war, blunt, commanding and used to doing things his own way. However beneath that hardened exterior is someone who carries the weight of everything he has seen and done, his instinct to protect Blake is immediate and unwavering, especially when she becomes the target of something far darker than either of them ever expected.

Blake has spent her entire career maintaining as much control as she can. As a doctor she fixes the broken while keeping her own emotions carefully contained. Letting someone get close enough to disrupt that balance is not something she ever pepared for. Jagger challenges every rule she has built her life around and the tension between them grows sharper the more their worlds collide.

The story is driven by their mutual push and pull. Jagger won't follow anyone's rules but his own, while Blake struggles to keep her composure and professionalism. The Daddy dynamic is present and intense, woven into both the emotional and physical aspects of their relationship, it reads as real rather than feeling like a superficial addition for excitement.

The suspense keeps the story moving, adding tension and giving Jagger every reason to step fully into his protective Daddy role. While some emotional moments could have had a little more space to breathe, the chemistry, danger and darker tone keep the pages turning.

Overall, Jagger fits neatly alongside the first book in the series. It delivers protective alpha energy, high stakes tension and plenty of heat, while continuing the gritty vibe that makes reading JL Quick so addictive.

This book is dark, addictive, and dripping with tension from the very first page.

Jagger is not your typical hero—he’s rough around the edges, emotionally scarred, and used to command. War has hardened him, but beneath the dominance and razor-sharp control is a man who protects with the same intensity he claims. His dynamic with Blake is electric, walking the fine line between power and vulnerability in a way that feels both dangerous and deeply intimate.

Blake is a standout heroine. She’s intelligent, disciplined, and fiercely independent—a doctor who has built her life around control and professionalism. Watching her unravel under Jagger’s relentless presence is captivating. Their chemistry is explosive, fueled by sharp banter, emotional resistance, and a magnetic pull neither of them can ignore.

The suspense element adds real weight to the romance. The danger stalking Blake raises the stakes and forces both characters to confront their fears and feelings head-on. As Jagger shifts from dominant alpha to unwavering protector, the emotional depth of their connection becomes the heart of the story.

This is a dark romance with bite—intense, commanding, and emotionally charged. If you love protective alphas, strong heroines, high tension, and a power dynamic that’s both steamy and layered, this one delivers.

Move over, Hawk…there’s a new daddy in town: Jagger. Seriously, Jagger took the number 1 spot in my world of J.L Quick book boyfriends and I’m not even mad about it!

Dr. Blake Hart is a fiercely dedicated and definitely rebellious doctor working in a war torn hospital. Enter Jagger, an ex‑Delta Force, dangerously charming(que multiple swoon moments), and he’s sent to find a missing person who was a patient at the hospital Blake works at. The case quickly spirals into something far darker. What starts as duty quickly turns into obsession, and let's just say the man does not understand boundaries and I’m 100% her for it!

This book has everything:
✔️Page turning Suspense
✔️Playful and sharp banter
✔️Plus a delicious slow burn that’ll melt you right into the pages.

The setting? Vivid doesn’t even cover it. I swear I could see, smell, and feel everything, like I’d been dropped straight into the story. My brain movie was extremely vividly described while I read that I swear I had to pitch myself that it wasn’t real life.

It’s dark, it’s dirty, it’s deliciously intense. The tension, the chemistry snaps, and it expands the Dark Daddies of Delta Force world in all the best (and steamiest) ways. If you want high heat, high danger, high obsession romance Jagger absolutely delivers.

I’m already counting down to the next book in the series.
Huge thanks to J.L. Quick and Luna Literary for the early copy!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: JL is the Queen of Daddies.
Jagger is everything you could possibly want in a Daddy, affectionate, sweet, protective, possessive, dominant in all the right ways. He balances strength and softness effortlessly, and the way he cares for Blake is exactly what makes him irresistible.
Blake makes a life-altering decision to save a woman in a country where women often have no voice—and sometimes no right at life without a man’s permission. Her compassion and courage place her directly in danger, standing up against men who believe women are disposable.
When Jagger and the team arrive prepared and confident in the information they’ve been given, but once they see what’s really happening, it’s clear the story isn’t as straightforward as it seemed.
Blake is strong, compassionate, and fiercely determined to help those who need it most—even when it puts her at risk. Watching Jagger step in to protect, claim, and care for her is everything. Their dynamic is intense, protective, and deeply consuming in the best way.
If you’re into dominant, possessive men who have the power to destroy everything in their path yet are gentle, protective, and utterly devoted to the woman they love, this book is for you.
And now I’m desperate for Damon’s story. I need to know who his FMC will be… though I can’t help hoping it’s Zahra.
