She may be only 12 years old, but Wendy Marvell is already a member of magical guild Fairy Tail, and a powerful dragon slayer wizard. Even so, she’s a little nervous when she sets out for the town of Nanalu for her first solo job: to discover why some of the locals have been mysteriously disappearing! They say the disappearances are the work of the spirit of a dead dragon. It sounds like superstition, but could it be true? Wendy, and another young local wizard named Yoshino, are determined to find out.

Really love the awesome fairy tail manga, and this is a fairy tail spin off of Wendy’s own adventure which was pretty good! Really love when my favorite mangas have spin off’s😻😁❤️❤️
The first volume in Wendy’s own adventure! So fun~
One of the books from my Kodansha-Free-Volume-1 spree and I am happy I got it. I love Fairy Tale/Hiro Mashima’s work so I had to get this one!
In this one we follow Wendy and her friend/pet/whatever you want to call it Carla. She is going on her own adventure and prove to the guild that she is really worthy of being a Fairy Tail! I loved that she was so strong to do this, but that we could also see that she was nervous and wondered if she had done the right thing. It was great following her on her journey and see what her first mystery/case would be! In this case it was a village with strange things happening, people missing, a dragon stone, and more. I really had so much fun reading about the village and seeing the mystery get thicker and thicker and everyone try their hardest to solve it and make everything right again. Wendy was just so awesome, and once more, I loved that she didn’t just jump into things (well for most). And I loved that she showed more emotion. A lot of times with manga like this people are just brave. Or super courageous. But it is fine to show some emotions.
I also loved the new friend Wendy makes with Yoshino. Though Yoshino really needs to get over her petty jealousy. But other than that, a fantastic new character who is quite strong in magic. Transformative magic is so cool! I loved seeing her make flowers appear, or even change something much bigger!
Sadly, I knew the bad guy from the start. It was just too obvious. OK, good, there was some more to it all and that made me happy, it was much more than just this one person, but I would have just liked to have a bigger mystery on the bad guy.
I loved the battle in the last part of the manga and especially seeing THEM again. Oh no, I am not telling you who, but I can tell you that I love it. On the one hand I would have liked to see Wendy solve it on her own, she is strong, but we also know that attack is not entirely her forte, so I am also happy with the help. Plus, I like THEM so that also helped. Haha.
The ending made me smile and also made me want to read more of this one!
I am not entirely sold on the art. I don’t think it really fitted with the Fairy Tale stuff, more with an older shoujo manga. Also could we please no show Carla without ears/upper head? It looked very weird in a few panels.
But all in all, I need more! If I get the chance I will definitely continue this story. I want to see Wendy grow, get better in magic, discover the world.
My review is from the eyes of someone completely new to Fairy Tail. This is a series I haven't read yet but has been on my want-to-read list for ages. With two spin-offs coming up and a reprint omnibus of the series in the works I thought this was the perfect time to jump on board. This series focuses on Wendy and Carla with two cameos of the "whole Fairy Tale gang". It doesn't have much substance to it from a story perspective for a new comer but we do get to know Wendy quite well as a character and Carla certainly is a cute sidekick. A very girly-girl "squeee" shojo themed magic and boys manga which is not particularly my thing but the ending does make me want to read on with the next volume. I feel pretty sure fans of the series will welcome this little side adventure of a character they already love but for newbies it gives a character study and sets us down in the Fairy Tale world gently with some explanations and I didn't feel any confusion.
I won this book in a giveaway, so thank you goodreads for that. First off if you like Fairy Tail well read this then. This book takes off with Wendy wanting to go off on her own and that's just what she does. Wendy finds a job looking for dragon slayers to help and she takes it on. Well I won't spoil the rest for you so I'll stop the summary at that.
It was very interesting to Wendy by herself and with with Natsu and the others. I felt like this book hinted at that Wendy likes Natsu and never in the anime have I gotten that vibe from her(keep in mind I'm only on ep 140). This manga is also very shoujo so if you're not into that maybe you shouldn't read this. I don't usually like Shoujo but since this was Fairy Tail I was willing to give it a try. Overall I give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
I´ve always enjoyed watching and reading the FairyTail stories, and realizing someone made a spin-off of the anime is just so exiting! You know what they say- ¨If you watched the movie/show you should read the book!¨
I enjoy the overall concept of this series and I’m happy I finally got to the first volume. Wendy is definitely a character I wanted more from and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes of this series. Since I’ve already read the entire main series I know where she ends up but I’m interested to see how she comes to accept her position in fairy tail overall but more importantly as a full member of their group. By the end of this volume we already see her learning and gaining confidence. Though this wasn’t one of my favorites, I’m so happy to still have more to read from this world.
A side story to the Manga, Fairy Tail. This manga mostly focuses on the Fairy Tail Mage, Wendy, and her adventures. I do not recommend reading it without reading a little bit of the original series. It might be confusing to new readers of the series.
Now this was an amazing tale. We don't get to see much of Wendy on her own in the main story so it was refreshing to see just her and Carla on a mission of there own. This was a cute tail with a bit of action, some comedy, and a lot of heart. Well done.
I'm currently watching the TV show and have been loving it. So when I went to my local library I wanted to pick up some of the manga but wasn't sure were in the books I was at. Instead of flipping through lots of books I saw these and just went with it. These are side stories about Wendy and Carla within the Fairy Tail world. Wendy is a funny character with so much potential. Yet, the hip that I have for this series had a let down with this book. I'm not sure why I feel so sad, I mean I know that this was not going to be about the main group of characters but at the same time I just didn't feel like this gave the same Fairy Tail magic that the others have. If you are a follower of Fair Tail this can be added to the list but doesn't have to be done since it is not about the main plot line.
C'est ok, sans plus. Autant j'adore Fairy Tail, autant je commence à trouver qu'il y a trop de spin of. Malheureusement, je ne continurai pas cette série même si elle contient très peu de tomes...
This was very cute and fun, suited the characters well, and the last chunk of it made me very happy (and nostalgic for watching Fairy Tail). The art looks great too.
Hiro Mashima creates very endearing characters and this manga is no exception. The story is aimed at children; otherwise I'd have probably given it another star.
Wendy is off on her first solo (sort of) mission for Fairy Tail. I say sort of because Carla, as one could expect, isn't about to let her go on her own. So the two of them set off to a village which is facing a strange phenomenon that they need help with. But when they get there, they find people are missing, and the spirit of a dragon killed long ago is the main suspect. Fear and suspicion are running rampant.
But in the midst of all this, Wendy encounters another girl her age, named Yoshino. She also has magic, and the two girls quickly become fast friends while trying to work out what's happening to the village.
Yoshino is a happy girl, and she doesn't for a moment believe a ghost is responsible for what's happening. I guess this makes sense - her father was injured by one of the ghost's attacks, and I imagine in part, she just wants to find whoever's behind it. But it might also be that she mostly seems to be a rational child, in her way.
If you've read Fairy Tail, you'll notice a change in the art here. For lack of a better way of putting it, it's very shojo. Features are softer and cuter. Rui Watanabe is the artist here, and their art captures the look of Fairy Tail while giving it a sweet, lovely look. You get pretty regular bubble frames and overlays, and comedic chibi asides. It's very... cute. :)
The story feels very Fairy Tail, though you'll probably work out at least part of what's going on pretty easily, and the book neatly ends this arc while offering a clear way forward for the next volume. It's a lovely little side story to Fairy Tail's monstrous main story.
I am a complete newbie to the Fairy Tail series. I saw this book in the library, read the little synopsis on the back (or at least, what was visible around the library stickers) and thought I would enjoy it. Turns out I do!
This is a very beautifully-drawn adventure about Wendy and her adorable side kick Carla. I was a little lost on what Fairy Tail was about until much later in the book when I realized it was a team (or maybe school?) and this is a spin-off focusing just on Wendy and her adventures. I was not lost during this adventure though, knowledge of Fairy Tail is not required but maybe you would see some fun tie-ins with past experience from Fairy Tail.
I enjoyed the story and was surprised by a few twists! It wasn't completely predicable which I enjoyed. It ended with a cliff hanger and I will definitely read the next one!
Another fun thing in this manga is a few little mini-mangas within the story told from the artist's perspective. They are usually very cute and funny and I thought it was a nice touch. The copy I read even had some cultural references explained in the back of the book which I always enjoy reading.
Overall a fun read with a super cute main character and friends, with an easy to follow story layout and great artwork. I feel like if you like Sailor Moon, you may also like this series. Well done!
"Fairy Tail Blue Mistral" is the first volume in this spinoff series. It is about Wendy, who is a young member of the Fairy Tail Guild.. a guild of Sky Dragons. Her companion is the all wise cat named Carla. Wendy wants to prove herself, so she takes on a request for help by herself.
This was a fun read. I am not familiar with the series that this is a spin off from, but that didn't inhibit my enjoyment at all. Wendy is a fun, emotional 12 year old who is trying to figure herself out with the help of her companion, Carla.
I would recommend this to Pre-teen on up and anyone who enjoys manga.
***I received this book through GoodReads Member Giveaway. The opinion is solely my own.***
