About the author

Akira Toriyama (鳥山明) was a Japanese manga artist and character designer. He first achieved mainstream recognition for creating the popular manga series Dr. Slump, before going on to create Dragon Ball (his most famous work) and acting as a character designer for several popular video games such as the Dragon Quest series, Chrono Trigger, and Blue Dragon. Toriyama came to be regarded as one of the most important authors in the history of manga with his works highly influential and popular, particularly Dragon Ball, which many manga artists cite as a source of inspiration.
He earned the 1981 Shogakukan Manga Award for best shōnen/shōjo manga with Dr. Slump, and it went on to sell over 35 million copies in Japan. It was adapted into a successful anime series, with a second anime created in 1997, 13 years after the manga ended.
His next series, Dragon Ball, would become one of the most popular and successful manga in the world. Having sold 260 million copies worldwide, it is one of the best-selling manga series of all time and is considered a key work in increasing manga circulation to its peak in the mid-1980s and mid-1990s. Overseas, Dragon Ball's anime adaptations have been more successful than the manga and are credited with boosting anime's popularity in the Western world. In 2019, Toriyama was decorated a Chevalier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for his contributions to the arts.
In October 2024, Toriyama was inducted into the Harvey Awards Hall of Fame.

Para los que crecimos con Son Goku viendo sus episodios en TV3, este manga se valora desde la nostalgia y con un cariño especial. Para los que pasamos tantas tardes viendo sus aventuras aunque fuesen episodios repetidos y los que el primer nombre en japonés que aprendimos fue "Akira Toriyama". Los que no aceptamos que "Piccolo" se llame de otra manera que no sea "Satanàs cor petit", y los que levantamos las manos con Son Goku para hacer la bola "Genki". Los que nos hace volver a la infancia una sola imagen de Son Goku. Para toda esa generación este manga se valora diferente. ¡Es único!

Otro tomo muy entretenido en el que Goku sigue siendo involuntariamente gracioso y entrañable. Me encantan los detalles como que Krilin le deje su uniforme o que le dé igual pelear desnudo (mientras que los espectadores se están partiendo de risa). Vaya un torneo, en realidad. Ha pasado de TODO. Los espectadores realmente han visto amortizada con creces su entrada.
En fin, hacia la siguiente aventura.

O primeiro torneio de artes marciais foi muito longo. Praticamente metade do volume é somente da luta do goku com o jackie chun.. a segunda parte é bem mais aventureira e empolgante, pois goku retoma a busca da esfera do dragão do seu vovozinho.

Akhirnya kompetisi bela diri sampai final, pesertanya adalaah Son Goku melawan Jackie Chun. Para penonton yang lain tidak menyadari bahwa Jackie Chun adalah Kamesennin. Pertarungan mereka sangat sengit, bahkan Goku sampai berubah jadi monyet besar setelah tiba-tiba menatap bulan purnama. Lantas, bukannya ekor Goku yang dipotong supaya ia berubah jadi normal, Jackie malah menghancurkan bulan. Pemenangnya bisa ditebak, yaitu Jackie Chun.

Alasan Kamesennin menyamar adalah supaya ia bisa mengajarkan Goku dan Kuririn untuk tetap rendah hati. Jangan sampai mereka puas hati dan sombong setelah mendapatkan ilmu dari Kamesennin.

Sfruttando il torneo Tenkaichi, Muten è riuscito proprio per un pelo a dare una lezione importante ai suoi due allievi. Ma è già tempo di cambiare aria per Goku. La ricerca della sfera del nonno lo porterà in una fredda landa desolata, niente meno che davanti alla copia cyber-cartacea di Arnold Schwarzenegger! XD

Yeah, I took a star off because I thought it was pretty random for Master Roushi to send Goku off on his own to train. He seemed to be kind of a genius in coming up with methods of conditioning, plus he hasn't taught them any martial arts to date. He claims Goku's kamehameha is still not as strong as his, so couldn't he at least help him improve that? And he's a centenarian... are you telling me he has no contacts in all those years that he could suggest to Goku for alternate training? Urrrgh. No me gusta.
