Endgame

Rate this book
When I married my enemy’s daughter, I didn’t do it out of love.
I did it so I could hurt her.

Her father destroyed my family. Aurora Clarke was the key to destroying his.
I watched the reckless heiress from afar, a predator hunting his prey.
Saw her get arrested, then locked up.
Strike one. Strike two.
When the inevitable third came, I made sure I was the judge assigned to her case.
Behind closed doors, I gave her two choices. Either years in prison…or marrying me.
She was wrong to choose me.
And me, I was dead wrong about her.
Now that she’s mine, I see it all.
Her pain. The damage that was done to her.
The scars no one ever bothered to look for.
The people responsible will pay for it.

Because no one, and I mean no one, touches my wife.

Endgame is a forced marriage dark romance. Please check for full content disclaimer at the beginning of the book.

And Eva slays again!!! She knows how to make you dislike a character and in a moment I was disliking Everett and how he was treating Aurora when she was innocent woman in all this. so be warned you'll wanna toss your kindle or phone or book across the wall lol.

Aurora is a Prisoner in her own home by her parents and she wants attention and she does some things like steal to get that and gets caught and tossed in a cell for a few weeks. This time Everett has her where he wants her for his revenge plan against her family. Life in prison or marriage to him. And when she picks the 2nd he isn't easy. Some of the things he did were boarder bad. The Humiliation, the punishments he did. Until things switched now he didn't turn nice he was alittle softer towards her but still acted cold. He started to fall for her and still take on his revenge against her family. so it takes awhile for these two to be on friendlyish terms.

The spice is spicing that scene with the spoon and collar 🥵🥵🥵 lorddd!! I cant wait for you guys to read it.

*I would like to thank Eva Marks for this arc*

LISTEN THIS MAYBE MY FAV EVA MARKS BOOK🤭
The push and pull with Aurora and Everett was sexy asf and I am glad they were able to lean on each other because truly they had sad pasts that they had to overcome. I know some people would find Everett to be toxic asf but I truly don’t care and neither did Aurora🌚. Anyways, the electroplay was 🥵. Can’t wait to read another book by Eva🙂‍↕️

4.5 True Enemies to Lovers Stars!

HOLY COW😱😱.

I’ve read a lot of dark romance but this was darkkkkk and phenomenal. I don’t even know how to describe this book. Erotically torturous and emotionally damaging in all the ways that matter when reading dark romance.

Everett is almost pitch black and toes that line unapologetically and ruthlessly. He never changes and makes no apologies for who he is but his internal trauma and struggles begin to take a different path that slowly evolves into something much kinder and intoxicating for Aurora. I both hated and loved him 😂.

Aurora is such a deeply scarred woman but Eva made her a layered character and the perfect match for Everett. She both irritated me and captivated me. The way she blossomed through the story was really lovely.

For those that love dark romance…true dark romance…you’ll really enjoy this. Mind the triggers because Eva wasn’t lying 😂😂.

Seriously, I don’t want to give too much away about this story because it was fast paced, SPICY (kinky AF) and had all the traumatizing plot elements I’ve come to love and expect from Eva.

ARC provided for an honest review.

Dark, depraved, twisted, unhinged, fucked up. ALL OF THE ABOVE AND MORE AND I LOVED IT😈

“Endgame” is exactly what it’s advertised as — a dark romance with age gap, morally black mmc, revenge & justice, forced marriage, so many red flags, and a relationship that stems from captive & captured.

Everett experienced an intense loss when he was a young man, and he’s been out for revenge and justice ever since he learned the truth of who was behind it. His plan originally meant taking and destroying the daughter of his enemy. Only he quickly realizes that there’s an attraction and more, a feeling of protectiveness, to her that rivals even his anger. What originally started out as a marriage from blackmail in order to destroy Aurora and her parents, quickly turned into an obsession of love and ownership of her soul.

The chemistry between Everett and Aurora was top notch. They are a fucked up pair — one needs to deliver pain and one gets off on fighting the pleasure she gets from it. This is 100% not a book for anyone who doesn’t want to read an anti hero who punishes fmc sexually. That is how these two communicate and work through their feelings. So definitely mind the TW!

As for me—I go feral for the messed up obsession and possessiveness. The way Everett needed to own every part of Aurora and the way she so deliciously submitted without losing her spark, was perfect.

This isn’t the first book by this author I’ve read and it won’t be the last! The way she writes dark and taboo is exactly what I love!

Tropes:
• age gap
• dark romance
• anti hero / morally black
• billionaires
• shitty parents
• forced marriage
• brat / dom
• forced orgasms
• collaring & electric shock
• rough sex
• anal play
• cnc
• pain & degradation kinks
• revenge
• humiliation

I don’t even know where to begin. This book blew me away. I’m still sitting here trying to process what just happened. If you’re looking for a soft, easy romance, this isn’t it. Eva doesn’t write safety nets. She writes stories that gut you, heal you, and leave you questioning your sanity in the best possible way.

Everett is the definition of morally gray. No scratch that. He’s completely morally black. Controlling. Obsessive. Cold-blooded at times. And yet he bleeds for Aurora in ways that surprised me . He’s the kind of character you love to hate.

Aurora, though? She’s not just strong, She’s resilient. She’s been broken and used, but she doesn’t stay down. Watching her claw her way back to herself through Everett, despite him, and eventually with him, was this book's heart.

🔥 The spice? Off-the-charts. But it’s not just physical. It’s mind games. Power shifts. Obsession and surrender, and this constant pull between love and destruction. You don’t just read their scenes; you feel them everywhere.

I’ll be honest, Eva Mark doesn’t coddle her readers. She drags us through the dark with these characters and makes us beg for more.

I closed the book and just sat there. Not okay. Not ready to move on. And already itching to reread it.

If you’re into dark romance that’s unapologetically twisted but emotionally, Endgame is your next obsession.

A family destroyed. A revenge 20+ years in the making. And all the pieces are finally falling together. 🔪🩶

Rating: 4/5
Spice: 5/5
Kink level: 5/5

Disclaimer: received ARC in exchange for an honest review

Summary
I might have read this within 12 hours of starting it... oops.

Eva Marks knows her niche and delivers again and again. ENDGAME does not disappoint. It is dark. Obsessive. Taboo. A trauma-tangled romance between two broken, complex people bound by vengeance. And all in the best way.

Marks writes the kind of stories that run right up to the moral edge—taboo, emotionally intense, and unapologetically kinky—without losing sight of the fact that it’s still romance.

Definitely recommended for readers who love morally grey men, unhinged devotion, and kink-heavy dark romance done with heart.

The MMC
Everett is morally dark grey, bordering on black without ever fully crossing the line. This is one of the things I love about this author, because her MMCs are brutal, but never cruel, they're obsessed with the FMC, the FMC lowkey enjoys it, and they always eventually fall in love.

Everett is blinded by the need for revenge. He is honestly a hypocrite at times, exhibiting amoral behavior and justifying his actions by telling himself that Aurora and her father are both evil and that they deserve this. He willfully ignores the signs that Aurora is a victim, too. He exhibits guilt early on, but he fights it until the evidence is overwhelming.

And... we do get what I consider to be a hot groveling scene that may or may not involve him begging Aurora to hurt him, and him begging for her forgiveness.

I also love that he never changes who he is: he owns that he's a controlling, obsessive bastard. And it's not that he doesn't grow, but the flavor and motivation for his obsession develops into something more.

The FMC
Aurora (This is revealed in the first chapter from her perspective, so I don't consider this much of a spoiler, but it's not mentioned in the synopsis)

She is a bratty and complex FMC. Her trauma response is realistically nuanced and mixed, which I really loved. She exhibits both minimizing and attention-seeking behavior. She actively thinks about what she can "get away with" (what will get her the attention or reprieve that she wants) vs what will only result in worse treatment.

More than once, she tries to use these tactics on Everett, trying to figure out what will please him. This totally throws him for a loop, adding to his guilt and forcing him to face her humanity. This added to their dynamic and was wonderful to watch, especially as he lets his "human side" slip enough for Aurora to see.

The Plot & Writing
It's an easy read, with a couple of twists, but nothing too crazy in terms of action. (no grand political intrigue or anything like that) It focuses on the characters and their relationship, trauma, and revenge, and how those bind them together.

The Spice
Holy. Hell.

There are always some fringe/taboo kinks in Eva Marks' books, but in some ways, this was extra wild. Definitely check trigger warnings.

The heaviest ones were the following:
- Dub-Con / Borderline Non-Con (she likes it sooo...?)
- CNC in the second half of the book
- Shock collar / electro play
- Plugs (all the time—literally)
- Degradation & Humiliation
- BC Tampering & Breeding

Additional Content Warnings
There is one thing on the topic of breeding that bothered me a tiny bit, and I will disclose below, as I don't think it is listed on the trigger warnings. I don't have a lot of hard limits, but this was hard for me to read:

Who is surprised that I loved this so much? Not me. I always know that reading a story written by Eva will surely be a good filthy time, and she gave it to me again!

This story had an interesting plot, hidden identities, a filthy mean MMC and a brave and fearless FMC. All wrapped in the most delicious and spiciest of spices. I was fanning myself through 85% of this book.

Everett (love the name) was so fucking mean and gruff, but he had such a broken hearted behind his facade I couldn’t really fault him. And while he was cold and an asshole he could never resist taking care of Aurora. His love for her was like a toxic bond that grew and spread against his will and by the time he realized everything he wouldn’t take anything back, because it landed him being married to his wife.

Said wife, Aurora, was a sad but bratty woman who needed love like air to breathe, and she gets hit with Everett’s brand of obsession…what’s a girl to do but fall madly in love and lust? I truly loved her and I wanted her to be meaner to Everett at times, but she wasn’t like that, her personality was just sweet and loyal and so caring that being selfish was not in herself.

I couldn’t get enough of these two, their chemistry and heartache was beautiful and I’m once again having another book marked for monthly rereading!

Eva, thank you for the opportunity to read this book early, it’s always an honor and I can’t wait to see what you come up with in 2026!

Quotes:

Aurora is more than a temptation. She's every need I didn't know I had personified.

When I step away, Aurora lets go of my arm. My fingers lace through her delicate ones. A romantic gesture that's supposed to be fake.
And yet the thought of ever releasing her hand twists something in my chest. Except that's impossible. I don't love her.
I could never.

"Fuck. You."
"On every available surface in the house, wife."

Claiming her is no longer a notion. A concept. A revenge. It's the blood running through my veins.
My wife belongs to me. And I'm taking what's mine.

Her softness, her beauty. Her soul.
That's what matters.
My existence is pointless without Aurora in it.

Love.
The emotion feels new. Raw. Uncomfortable.
It's a sharp ache that spreads over my chest like poison. Nothing's ever hurt like this. I haven't loved anyone as much as I love Aurora.

The only thing that races through my mind is him.
Everett. Everett. Everett.

You don't get to stop being my brat. My beautiful fighter. You just—wherever your soul goes, I'll find it. Every fucking time. I'll drag you back to me, no matter what.

Spicy story, which I unfortunately could not connect to😓

My favorite quotes:
Because no one, and I mean no one, touches my wife.

"Lucky fucking me," I growl."

"Need to fuck babies into you, wife."

What I loved:
✍️the dedication
💒the tropes: forced marriage, revenge plot, my wife, who did this to you,...
🔥the kink galore

What I struggled with:
In general, I just could not connect to the story. I kept having this feeling that I was missing something, a little je ne sais quoi. Like the emotion, the background information, the actual foundation to the heartbreak/ache was not really there. A few examples:
😨She was supposedly severely abused and traumatized by here home situation, but I was just not feeling it. So what, if you couldn't leave the house? So what, if you got locked into the basement a few times? 🤷‍♀️ It was so poorly explained, that she sounded a bit like a brat to me...
👀She was so easily turned on by the actions of her kidnapper, despite her so called hatred for him. I wasn't feeling it.
📿And what was with the collar? No clue why he felt it was necessary.
🧣Or the c*ckwarming? Her suckling his c*ck was supposedly soothing? She was a freaking virgin before meeting him, not a toddler going off her pacifier. 🍼
🍑And what's with all the butt plugs? A new one each time? And disguarded afterwards?

What you need to know:
🫂dual POV
🔞age gap (43MMC/22FMC)

For the safety squad:
This book as a looooooooooooooooooooong list of tropes, kinks and content warnings.
The full list is available on: https://www.evamarkswrites.com/endgame.
I have a very high tolerance, the ones that stood out for me were: the age gap 🤣 and the mention of SA (past event, not against the FMC, not by the MMC).

The period scene was where I drew the line.

After rage reading the first half of the book and needing to stop every 30 minutes to vent via voice-note to my friend, I wanted to persevere and keep reading to get some resolution for certain storylines.

But when

Also, like 70% of this book is sex. I had to skim so much because I just wanted to get some movement in the plot.

There are very few books (like less than 5 of the 1000+ I've read) that I truly hate or even dislike, but this book might be top of that list.

I have never been so angry yet so turned on as I was reading this book.

Everett is a real jerk, one completely blinded by his need for revenge. So he constantly overlooks all the signs that Aurora is not who he thinks she is. But dang it, I couldn’t help but feel bad for him as much as I wanted to strangle him.

Aurora puts on a brave yet bratty face to hide the powerlessness and emotional pain she feels constantly in her life. But once she makes up her mind on Everett, she doesn’t give up. No matter how many times he hurts her with distance and cold words.

This book will have you pulling your hair out while possibly also reading one handed. The feelings are devastating and the spice is so dang spicy.

This is absolutely a dark romance, and for some Everett may be an irredeemable MMC, make sure to check your triggers.

EVAAAAAAAAA. FREAKINGGGGG. MARKSSSS.

Oh my lantaaaaa. I’m obsessed. I am obsessed with Everett. But are we surprised? No. I’m just obsessed with Eva honestly.

But holy FUCK. Everett, you sadistic, morally grey-borderline black, obsessive man who would make anyone bleed for her. Having to come to terms with her humanity. And Aurora, you bratty, complex, traumatized, beautiful woman, having to face your own fears. Having to be broken to be remade. AH.

The groveling, the forbidden yearning, the brutality. And the spice?! The chemistry?? The heartache?? I literally could not get enough of these two.

Endgame is a contemporary dark romance with themes like; forced marriage, non/dub con, kink, obsession, power-shifts, and our favorite! “Touch her and die.”

Holy wild ride Batman!!! Omg this was an excellent book. I think this is my new favorite Eva Marks book. It was suspenseful in the way of the twists and how Everett was going to act and respond. Aurora was a bit over dramatic at times for my liking but she’s young and been through hell and being put through hell. Everett thought I liked him a lot so dark and brooding and cruel but in a loving way. The storyline was seamless and it kept me reading I didn’t want to put the book down. As always check trigger warnings there a lot for this book. The spice ooo chefs kiss it was so spicy!!

I got an ARC of this book and let me tell you. FINISHED IT IN ONE DAY. The twists and turns this book has you going in. THE PLOT👏👏 Aurora and Everett are perfectly imperfect and I love a HEA with a healthy dose of revenge❤️❤️ if you like morally grey( leaning towards black) MMC’s then Everett cannot wait to meet you. First off, he’s a judge who will shape the law and pull favors to get what he wants and what he wants… is our FMC Aurora. This book will have you captivated to see what Everett is going to do next and as you learn the WHY of it, it all makes sense. Eva Marks is amazing and if I could reread this book for the first time again I would!! 5 star read!!!

This book was incredibly dark and twisted.

Aurora is living in hell. She hates her adopted parents and feels like a prisoner. She is desperate to get away from them. She resorts to shoplifting to get arrested because even prison is better than living in that house.

Everett is blinded by hatred. He hates Aurora's adopted parents. Possibly even more than she does. Her father Winston destroyed Everett's family. Everett believes Aurora has been living a perfect and spoiled life. He becomes a judge to force her into a deal she can't refuse after being arrested again for shoplifting. He is so focused on his revenge that he doesn't notice all the signs that Aurora would rather be anywhere than with her family, even with a monster like him.

DNF’ed at 31%

The whole plot of this book is based around something that could’ve been resolved with a simple mature conversation. You’d think a 40 something year old educated judge would be able to put two and two together and get four but apparently all his logic and reasoning seem to be fighting for third place. For starters it seems shoplifting and life imprisonment are now proportional just because he said so? And that’s not to mention the countless times the fmc quite obviously tried to tell him she had no fucking idea who Lotus was. I understand it from a suspense standpoint but when ‘she’ is mentioned every 4 fucking pages you’d expect the mmc to finally fucking address the elephant in the room.

The character development for Aurora was so so underwhelming, locked in a dark basement? by what the author was detailing i was expecting the girl to have been chopped into pieces, blended. sacrificed to a goat and reincarnated just for the fun of it. I mean maybe this is a tad too harsh, i can see a lot of people did enjoy this book.

I mean I haven’t even gotten to the plot twist yet and i can already tell you exactly who Aurora’s biological mother is. Disappointed - the book looked so promising too.

I feel like there should be a warning with Author Eva Mark’s books that say…once started you will not be able to put these down.

The way she manages to create these MMCs that are as obsessed as they are unhinged is a true art form.

This FMC, my heart broke for her. The things she endured was just gut wrenching.

The MMC, he’s a tall drink of possessive and unhinged…but he’s also so wrapped up in his own grief and revenge...he's at war with himself...and that also had me in all my feels.

These two have this raw attraction....their push and pull....they fight hard and love even harder...it's all so HAWT!

The way this book had me on the edge of my seat from the suspense...my goodness it was intense!

It was a wild ride from the beginning to the end and I loved every single page of it!

I cannot help myself. When I see an Eva Marks blurb or plot, my whole brain flip like bake on a too-hot tawa. I grab up the book so fast, you would swear I getting paid commission. I don’t know if it’s hope, stupidity, or a mild case of literary Stockholm Syndrome, but the woman writes a first chapter so seductive I swear she sprinkling something illegal on it.

And every time, like a real clown, I tell myself, “This one will be different. This one is it.”
Then the story starts, and the whole thing collapses faster than a sada bake that puffed too early. Just air. No substance. Shame inside.

The FMC backstory tried to be tragic, but it felt like someone mashed Matilda, Cinderella, and a bag of trauma clichés into a blender and forgot to put on the cover. Locked in basements. No books. Homeschooled into confusion. Tantrums to go outside. Committing tiny crimes so she could spend the night in jail for peace of mind. I tried to care. I really did. But the whole thing felt like a cartoon sketched by a man who lost the eraser and the talent at the same time.

Then the MMC appears. A judge. A very angry judge. A man whose revenge plan reads like twelve bad ideas taped together. He wants to punish her parents, so he decides to marry their daughter, terrorize her, get her pregnant, take the baby, and kill her. That is not a scheme. That is a cry for adult supervision.

The legal drama made me laugh out loud. He sentences her to life in prison for shoplifting because he felt like it. Life. For shoplifting. This courthouse runs on wishful thinking and Red Bull. He drags her into chambers, starts manhandling her, and the whole scene feels like the author lost the plot and the map at the same time.

Here is the thing that makes me vex. Eva can write. She can set a mood. Her openings are rich, tense and full of promise.. so good that I keep falling for them like a dopey friend who never learns. But once the story moves forward, all the promise evaporates and the plot gets wild. Not dark. Not intense. Wild. Like somebody kicked over a bucket of trauma, violence, and horny revenge and refused to clean it up.

So yes, I cussing, because I have reached my limit. I am tired of biting into these books like hot coconut bake and discovering raw dough hiding inside like a shameful secret. I need darkness with structure. I need characters with an actual internal world, not trauma receipts stapled to their backs.

For readers who enjoy blood, chaos, and characters powered by pure nonsense, have your fun.
For readers who want darkness with structure and sense, this book will drain your spirit.

Two stars. One for the hook. One for my stubbornness. The rest gone in the bin.

This book is an arresting exploration of love, vengeance, and emotional transformation, wrapped in the compelling intensity of dark romance. This story goes far beyond its genre conventions, delivering a narrative that is both intimate and explosive.

From the opening pages, we see a world steeped in power, control, and the dangerous allure of revenge. Everett, the male protagonist, embodies this darkness; cold, methodical, and deeply wounded. His presence commands the page, not because of his cruelty, but because of the vulnerability hidden beneath it. Opposite him stands Aurora, a woman defined by light, fire, and resilience. She refuses to be broken or silenced, even when surrounded by chaos.

Their connection is volatile yet magnetic — a delicate balance of passion, pain, and trust. Their collision is captured with precision, showing how two fractured souls can both destroy and heal each other. Beneath the surface of desire lies an aching tenderness, a shared history of grief and defiance that gives the romance its emotional weight.

What truly distinguishes Endgame, from other dark romance books that I've read, is its sense of transformation. This is not a story of one person saving another; it’s about mutual recognition and growth. Everett’s journey from vengeance to vulnerability, and Aurora’s steadfast ability to see him without illusion, are both handled with striking emotional intelligence.

The balance of darkness and intimacy without glamorizing either, resulting in a story that feels both haunting and profoundly human, is why I absolutely devoured this book.

A powerful, beautifully written novel that reshapes and redefines the boundaries of its genre.

I love Eva's dedications. To everyone who dreamed about an emotionally unavailable, morally gray man calling them "my wife".... this one's for you.

Dayummmm. This one was DARK, depraved, dirty, and delicious! I enjoyed every second of reading it. Aurora and Everett make one hell of an enemies to lovers couple. He's out for revenge against her father, and he's taking it out on her... in all kinds of ways. ;) This one got kinky, and I'm not complaining one bit.

I loved it. Eva Marks has a way of writing that makes you want to keep turning the pages to find out what happens next. Her books are usually very dark, like this one, so PLEASE read the TW on her website if you think you might be triggered in any way. If you've got no triggers... honey, dive in, what are you waiting for?!

My absolute favorite quote that made me run laps in my house:
"Stop being such a fucking brat for one second and" -thrust- "come all over" -his hips slam against my thighs- "my" -he groans, melting my insides- "cock. Fucking milk me."
