Levi Walker wants nothing more than a simple life—early mornings, quiet days, and keeping to himself. The closed-off single dad has enough on his plate running his family’s ranch and raising his daughter solo. He sure as hell isn’t looking for anything serious, complicated, or the whirlwind that shows up when Emery arrives on his doorstep.
Emery never planned to stick around Cold Creek. She was just supposed to house-sit for her cousin. But when that turns into nannying for the crankiest cowboy she’s ever met and his sassy, too-smart daughter, Emery finds herself tangled in something far more dangerous than flirty feelings and stolen glances.
Levi doesn’t do soft. Emery doesn’t know roots. But no matter how hard they both try to fight it, when Levi finally lets her in, it’s not just his house she changes... It’s his heart, too.
Just when everything starts to feel right, Emery’s past comes knocking—with threats that could burn everything to the ground. But this time, she isn't facing it alone, and Levi’s not backing down. He’ll fight for the woman who’s setting his world on fire.
i ate this book up!!! small town ✅ single dad ✅ nanny ✅ this book was a slow burn but it was sooo worth it!! it was cute and i loved how protected the MMC was!! obviously we love that in a man😏. definitely a 5 star read for me
Into the Fire is book one in the Romance on Cold Creek series and is the story of Emery and Levi. This is a small town, single dad/nanny, grumpy/sunshine romance.
Emery has come to Cold Creek to house sit for her cousin and to get away from the boss who has made her life miserable and who is harassing her. Needing a job to keep her busy, she finds an ad for a nanny position and decides to apply.
Levi is busy raising his daughter alone and running a bustling ranch when his mom decides he needs help and put up an ad for a nanny. What he did not expect was the woman who shows up on his porch.
Emery never planned on staying in Cold Creek or the feelings she has developed for her grumpy boss. Levi has only known a hard life and is struggling to handle everything he is responsible for. Emery makes his and his daughter's life easier, slower and as she slowly integrates herself into his home, she also infiltrates his heart. Just when everything starts to fall in place for Levi and Emery, her past comes to Levi's doorstep and it threatens to burn everything down. But now she is not alone and Levi isn't backing down.
The author did a fantastic job showing the slow build of Levi and Emery's relationship and the connection they built. The storyline was well written and the emotional depth of Levi, Emery and his daughter was perfect. Emery's protectiveness and willingness to go to bat for Levi's daughter showed her level of care and commitment to her outside of Emery's feelings for her dad. This story is a slow burn but the wait is worth it. The banter between Emery and Levi was so good and only adds to their dynamic and character building.
If you are looking for a easy read that gives you all the feelings, a little angst and a sassy 5-year-old who makes everyone laugh, this is the book for you.
I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was a slow burn! I devoured this book in under 3 hours.
Emory is a city girl who is house sitting for her cousin in a small town. While house sitting she decided to take a job as a nanny for a cute little girl named June.
Levi is a single dad and a cowboy!! He is overwhelmed with his father duties and ranch duties so his mom put an ad out for a nanny without Levi knowing.
It’s a bit of a battle between Levi and Emory at first but then they develop deep feelings for each other but both of them keep trying to pretend that these feelings don’t exist. It all felt real and natural the way they developed feelings for each other.
Emory’s past is trying to come back and destroy her new life she is creating for herself. With Levi by her side they find peace and happiness.
Okay so I will always eat up a small town rancher/ cowboy romance.
Also: Single dad ✅ Nanny ✅ Grumpy/Sunshine ✅
This is the debut novel and I have to say I flew through it. I loved Levi and Emery but I will have to say, for me, there was a few continuity errors. You didn’t know how much time had passed and I found myself going back in the previous pages to see if I missed something. Emery was trying to start over since her city job had left a bad taste in her mouth, while Levi needs help with June-bug (his daughter) but doesn’t want to ask for help so his mom takes matters into her own hands. His mom puts an ad for a nanny and Emery answers and you can feel the instant attraction they have for each other. Can’t wait to read what comes next. I really hope it is his brother Jess and her cousin Layla I believe.
This book had everything I want in a small town romance book! A little suspense, lots of spice, a grumpy cowboy and his city-girl nanny? loved it! Levi falls fast and hard for Emery, and she loves Levi and his daughter for fiercely. Into The Fire was such a great read!
really looking forward to what Cold Creek has in store for us next!
Got this as an ARC. Despite the grumpy cowboy MMC, this was still a feel good romance. This is a fast, easy read when you feel like you need a little escape.
This book was a quick read for me. It was spicy, sexy, and a little thriller all in one. It made me laugh, smile, and even teary eyed. I would definitely recommend and will read more by Isla Jade!
✨ Tropes ~ 🤠Grumpy Cowboy ♥️Single Dad ♥️Sunshine Nanny This was a slow burn romance between an overwhelmed single dad and the nanny who's still healing her heart. The chemistry between the main characters was well written. I loved their banter. Overall a good read.
Oh my gosh I’ve been waiting on the release then completely forgot so I was late but 30 percent in my heart broke, then halfway through I was loving the book. Then the epilogue had my heart breaking again but also laughing
The EASIEst Cowboy romance book to devour omg!! I loved how fast paced it was and the characters were amazingggg. The grumpy sunshine trope was chefs kiss
Absolutely love the single dad and nanny tropes. Watching these two fall for each other was top notch. Also the kid was absolutely adorable. Give me a grumpy mmc add in he is protective and a cowboy yes please.
This book is so so good. It’s a slow-ish burn, the spice is SPICY and I ate it all up. This book is written in the 3rd person POV and I’m usually used to reading 1st person, it was honestly a nice change up, the way that it’s written really gives you a different look and how both characters have a really romantic dynamic and the tension between them was probably my favorite part. The way that Levi falls first AND harder for Emery had me licking my feet. Into the Fire definitely wanting more and I really hope there is a second book about two of the secondary characters in the book!
I’m not sure I could have asked for anything else from Into The Fire! It has all of my favorites: 🔥Single Dad x Nanny 🔥Cowboy MMC 🔥Grumpy x Sunshine 🔥She Falls Hard But He Falls Harder 🔥Protective MMC And so much more, you will not be disappointed!!
A delicious slow burn between a grumpy cowboy single dad and the sunshine city girl he never saw coming. The chemistry between Levi and Emery is undeniable, with just the right amount of witty banter and perfectly placed spice to keep you wanting more. I was hooked from the start and had a hard time putting this one down!
I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down.
It starts off with Emery who is a city girl who needed a break from work and came to housesit her cousins house. Levi is a rancher single daddy with a 5yr old called June, he is used to doing everything himself, he doesn’t believe he needs a nanny. From the start you knew they were attracted to each other but they didn’t act on it at first, this was a slow burn, and was so so good, I was gripped to the end!

“Into the Fire” is the first book in the “Romance in Cold Creek Series.” Emery has left a job behind that drained her both mentally and physically to come to Cold Creek to house sit for her cousin. “Cold Creek was her salvation disguised as a favor. A chance to catch her breath.” Levi Walker is a single dad to his beautiful daughter June and also running the family ranch. He is well and truly run off his feet and finding it hard to juggle everything. “Another day of checking fences, hauling feed, and patching the busted irrigation line….” His mum places an add in the paper for nanny. Emery applies for the job….eventually Levi admits he does need the help.
“Damn. He was good-looking. That whole rugged, work-worn, strong-silent-type thing? Yeah. It worked for him.”
The more time they are spending together, the closer they are getting and enjoying each other’s company. Lines start to become blurred when start to feel more than friendship towards each other.
A thoroughly enjoyable read from one chapter to the next - at times you are metaphorical “on the edge of your chair” wondering what will happen next. You will fall in love with Levi and Emery, hoping that everything with work out for them, will they have a future together. To be quite honest, you will not be able to put this book down - I cannot wait for the next book in this series. Overall, I would highly recommend 😊
Well, this book was a top 10 read of the year for me. I completely fell in love with this story and these characters. You will want to read or put this on your TBR asap. I am hoping that a book 2 is in the works because I need more for these characters and story. This author did an amazing job writing this story. It had banter, second chances, family, healing, a little spice and a little drama. This grumpy, single dad cowboy meets a woman who becomes his nanny and turns his world upside down in the best way. Levi, is a sexy, burn the world down for her kinda guy. He will be your next book boyfriend and keep you wanting more. Emery is a city gal who temporarily moves to her cousins to house sit and takes a job as a nanny for Levi’s daughter. I won’t tell you anymore, because I wouldn’t want to spoil any of this amazing story!
This was a bit of a mess. The timeline was all over the place, sometimes weeks flew by in one paragraph (I think?) and other times it’s the next day and things had happened that we weren’t told. No background on either MCs except the basic he was a single dad and she quit her job so their personalities never came across the page and I felt I didn’t get to know them. The villain in the story made no sense and the dialogue was straight out of a kid’s cartoon to prove they were the bad guy all along. Also hated that whatever her name was ended up pregnant at the end. They never even talked about what they both wanted out of life or if they had the same goals and morals. Just totally confused how they even fell in love in the first place. I can’t speak about the spicy scenes because I skipped those but I was bored for most of this book. Sorry.
🔥Single Dad x Nanny 🔥Cowboy MMC 🔥Grumpy x Sunshine 🔥She Falls Hard But He Falls Harder 🔥Protective MMC
This slow burn romance read has great plot & spicy scenes. I read it all in one sitting, Isla did an amazing job with character development. Emory comes to the small town to escape her past, while house sitting for her cousin. She answers an ad to Nanny for Levi a grumpy cowboy who is overwhelmed with all his duties. It takes a minute but they develop into an amazing relationship.
It's a great read, very impressed by Miss Jade and her debut novel.
This book was absolutely amazing! I could not put it down. The banter was honestly chef's kiss and I was kicking my feet the whole time. Spice levels were really good too about a 3.5/5. I'm normally a dark romance or fantasy romance girly but I absolutely adored this book. And the splash of morally Grey from the mmc was absolutely perfect. There was absolutely NOTHING that would have stopped that man from burning down the world for his girl.
I DEVOURED this book in a day! The writing is so easy to read and the story just flows so well. It was one of those books where I said I would read one more chapter and go to bed but ended up staying up until 1am to finish it. The banter and slow burn are what keep you hooked. Highly recommend and cannot wait for book 2!!
Single Dad, cranky cowboy, YES PLEASE This book was SO good If you are looking for a cowboy romance where he falls fast and hard for his daughters nanny, add this to your TBR, you won't regret it!🫶🏼
I absolutely loved loved loved this book it has such great plot and character development and the design of the characters is amazing I can’t wait for more such a great romance read
Into the fire is about a single dad who unwillingly hires a nanny who is trying to figure out where to go next in life. I saw the book on tik tok and decided id give it a try as an ARC reader. The story its self was good, pacing is really nice and all three characters are lovable and mesh really good in a family dynamic. The only issue I had was the flow of the book, it would flow then feel choppy, then flow again. Thats the only thing holding me back from making it a 4 star read. Other than that the story its self was a good quick read.
If you are looking for a grumpy rancher and a sunshine nanny. Go ahead and give Into the Fire a shot.
