Micah Gray thought he had the perfect a thriving marriage, a beautiful home, and a wife who was his equal in every way. But everything shatters in an instant when a devastating car accident leaves Meena Johnson-Gray with severe brain trauma—and no memory of the man she once called her husband.
Now, Micah faces the winning the heart of the woman he already loves, all over again. As Meena struggles to navigate her unfamiliar world, haunted by fragments of a past she can't place, Micah becomes both caretaker and stranger. But love, no matter how deep, doesn't come with guarantees.

But with secrets lingering beneath the surface and emotional wounds neither of them fully understands, the path to reconnection is anything but easy. Unmatched is a powerful contemporary romance that explores the fragility of memory, the strength of commitment, and the extraordinary lengths we go to for the ones we love.
In Unmatched, A.A. Lewis explores not only the resilience of romantic love, but also the complexities of the family arrangement that surrounds it—where loyalty, obligation, and identity are constantly in flux. This is a story of healing, reconnection, and the unrelenting power of love in the face of unimaginable change.
I cried real tears yall!!! This book was so good. The emotion, the love, the journey. It gave me all the feels that I needed. I have no questions or curiosity as to what's next, she summed it up perfectly. I needed this. Micah and Meena's love was truly Unmatched!!
A.A. Lewis....I don't know how you did it, but you had me at hello. This book was soooooo beautiful. Even though this was a happy marriage in the beginning, you showed the work and love needed during the tragic events. Thank you Ms. Author Ma'am for the penning with work of art.
This book was giving "The Vow" vibes which was one of my favorite movies. I really loved Micah's devotion as a husband, even I could feel how much he loved her. I wish her family dynamics could've been fleshed out a little more. Devon deserved what he got. The pastor surprised me for sure but he ain't have to do all that and also lose his daughter anyway. 😔 I am beyond happy they had a better outcome than expected! I do womens if Micah told her what happened with Zora but I guess it doesnt matter if they got their HEA! Overall a great read!
Micah and Meena are a match made in heaven. A beautiful couple, aligned in every possible way. It seemed like nothing could ever come between them, until the unthinkable happens.
What happens next to this once inseparable couple? I won’t spoil it for you. You have to read their story for yourself. I promise, you won’t regret it.
A.A. Lewis had me absolutely captivated from beginning to end. I’m completely invested in this pair!
Omg. This was beautifully written. Micah was a devoted husband through it all, even the uncertainty. This was a love story that stood through the test of times. I’m so glad Meena found her way. I felt a brick of emotions reading this well-descriptive and nice paced book.
"The Vow" is one of my favorite movies. It's about a woman who gets in a car accident and forgets about her husband. The movie was absolutely heart-breaking, more so because it doesn't have a "happy ending", and the fact that it was based on a true story. When I read the synopsis of this book, I immediately added it to my Kindle because it has a similar plot, AND it's written by a Black woman. Meena and Micah have that magic kind of love, that unforgettable kind of love. But what happens when Meena is hit by a car running a red light, rushed to the hospital with a brain injury, and wakes and doesn't remember Micah?
Let me tell you! I was so emotionally invested in this story from the very beginning. Micah and Meena are such a beautiful Black couple. College sweethearts who met and sparks were flying immediately. You can tell in the brief snippet of them before the accident just how much they loved and cared about each other, and Meena was gearing up to tell Micah about her being pregnant before she is hit by another car and suffers a brain injury as a result. I felt so freaking bad for Micah in this book; having to watch as his wife fell for someone else, her ex Devon, because he was familiar and she didn't remember him. Although Micah could have had happiness with Zora, when she kisses him he turns her down and professes his love for his wife again. No matter if Meena hadn't come around to loving him again, his heart always belonged to her and I thought that was so beautiful how patient he was.
Meena, not gonna lie, frustrated me in this book! Every time she would want to spend time with Devon, or her parents over Micah, I was screaming at her through my kindle lol. But, but, I also understood where she was coming from, and the author did an amazing job at showing her confusion over her situation, her need to be around something familiar, and her guilt at not being able to reciprocate Micah's feelings even though she could see the love shining in his eyes every time he looked at her. Like I said, it was such a heartbreaking book at certain parts and I felt for Meena. She lost her job, her baby, her memory, and she was just trying to push through her uncertain feelings to decide what she wanted her new life to look like.
The one thing I didn't like or agree with in regard to the plot is Micah not letting Meena know that Devon had raped her. I thought Devon not telling Meena about her strained relationship with her parents was a noble thing to do. He didn't want her to love him by ostracizing her family when it was clear she needed their support during this time in her life. However, later in the book, Devon attempts to force Meena to be with him again, which results in her hitting her head as she pulls away from him and sustaining another head injury. Rape is a serious thing, and I feel like Micah should have never allowed Devon to be alone with Meena. It may have hurt her, but I think that is the point where telling her about the past would have been protecting her. London, Meena's best friend tries to warn her why she left Devon before, and yes Meena was a little stupid for not listening, but I'm sure she would have reacted differently had Micah told her she was raped by this man.
Other than that, and a few editing/grammar errors (there was one whole section that was repeated), I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author
Unmatched was a great read. I really liked the concept of the book. This book has us imagining what we would do if the love of your life had an accident, survived it…but forgot who you were and the love you shared. Would you stay or would you walk away?
This book was a true test of what love truly means. It captured just how fragile love is but also shows us its strength all at the same time. The MMC, Micha, was truly tested. First, when his wife Meena, was in a devastating car accident, and again when she woke up and was unable to remember him. To make matters worse, Meena’s father used her memory loss as a chance to push Micha out of her life and bring Meena’s abusive ex back into the picture.
Watching Micha and Meena’s journey back to each other was both heartbreaking and inspiring. Their story is a true testament to patience, loyalty, and what it really means to love someone unconditionally.
Overall, Unmatched was a beautiful, yet sad, love story that made me reflect on the meaning of devotion and second chances.
I just finished Unmatched by A.A. Lewis, and wow—what a ride! This was my first time reading one of her books and I absolutely fell in love with both the MMC and FMC. Meena and Micah’s love story was beautiful. It really shows how life can test your love and make you question whether you’ve truly found your person—your forever, your rider, the one who’ll stand by you until the very end.
Meena’s relationship with her family, or honestly the lack of one, hit home for me. It really highlights how the people who are supposed to love you unconditionally aren’t always the ones who have your best interest at heart.
This book had my heart from beginning to end. It was a roller coaster I didn’t even know I needed. It’s definitely a different pace from the typical urban romances I usually read—stressful at times, but so, so good!
If you’re looking for a love story with a twist that’ll keep you turning pages, this is the one!
Somebody pass me a whole box of tissues because this book did not come to play with my emotions. My heart felt like it was being squeezed, stretched and then slowly pieced back together page by page. Unmatched is one of those stories that reminds you just how powerful, deep and stubborn real love can be.
Micah… Lord. Every woman deserves a Micah. The patience. The loyalty. The quiet heartbreak he carried while trying to love Meena back to him whew, that kind of devotion is rare. Watching him fight for a woman who couldn’t even remember the life they built had my chest tight. It’s one thing to fall in love but to have to once again earn the heart that once chose you that’s a different kind of strength.
Meena… her journey broke me and healed me at the same time. The confusion, the frustration, the fear of being disconnected from her own life A.A. Lewis captured that so beautifully. I felt every moment of her trying to find herself while Micah tried to hold onto hope.
This book is emotional in the purest way. It’s not just romance it’s commitment, sacrifice, identity and the kind of love that refuses to die even when it seems like the memory did. I cried, I paused, I clutched my chest… and then I cried again.
This story captivated me start to finish. A beautiful, painful, heart lifting reminder that sometimes love has to be rebuilt brick by brick… and when it is, it’s stronger than ever.

Micah is the man that took his vows to his wife seriously because when she lost her memory of them he does everything in his power his power to help her remember who he is and why they feel in love .Meena was Micah love but when that accident left her not remover how much. He love her it almost broke him.Their saying to each other was “That real love “. He would say back to her Unmatched love .They were real couple goals and they went though the up and downs. A.A Lewis did her job with this book and how emotional it can be and what a husband would do for his wife that he love even though she could remember him or the time they had together.

I randomly was scrolling on Amazon and saw this book being featured. Read the synopsis and instantly smitten with wanting to read about Meena and Micah. Micah is such book bae or no... he is definitely book husband. He was so patient and kind and the way he put Meena's trifling and absuive ex in his place gave me the chills. I felt sorry for Micah because there was a chance Meena would never remember him in the way that felt familiar before her car accident. This type of love written by A.A Lewis was beautiful to read about it. Everything felt realistic and not drawn out. It was pure magic to read.
This book didn’t just tell a story, it felt like one. The characters were raw, flawed, and achingly real, and the emotional weight of their journey stayed with me long after I turned the last page. Every moment of pain, growth, and connection was earned, never rushed, and written with so much care that it hurt in the best way.
A.A. Lewis has a gift for making you sit in the discomfort, feel the heartbreak, and still believe in healing. This was intense, emotional, and deeply satisfying. I didn’t just read this book, I experienced it. Highly recommend if you’re ready for something that will wreck you and then rebuild you piece by piece.
I felt so many emotions reading this book. My husband was in a coma due to being sick. When he came out, he didn't remember me. I fought the whole time for him to heal, recovery and regain his memory. It took 7 days for him to remember, but in the end, I got my husband back. I understood how Micah felt and didn't know what to do. In the beginning, I thought I would have to put the book down, but I was able to pitch through. A.A. Lewis helped me to continue to see that love will win. I love the fact that they were able to find each other again.
Micah and Meena’s love struggle was beautiful to read. They way they through the phases of life unexpectedly and allowed love to bring them back together was a testament to love enduring all.
This is a first read for me by this author. This book shows the true meaning of love conquering all. Micah was faced with the challenge of loving his wife Meena after tragedy struck or giving up.
This is my first read by A.A Lewis and now she has a fan in me. This story tugged at my heartstrings. It hurt my hurt seeing Micah go through this ordeal. I love how he loved Meena unconditionally. Meena’s father made me mad and really irritated me. The ending was perfect to me.
