Well, here we are. Another book, another review. This one managed a solid 3 out of 5 stars, which, frankly, is less a recommendation and more a sign that I finished it. Barely. It just felt... overdone. Every single beat was hit with the subtlety of a mob boss not trying to be subtle. The tropes weren't just present; they were wearing little nametags and shouting their existence. The classic "oops, thought I was texting my boyfriend, but it's him" mix-up? Check. Riveting. The inevitable "betrayal" that everyone saw coming from chapter one? Yep. Yawn. The high-stakes "forced separation" because they're from gasp different starting points? So fresh. So original. It was meh at best. Honestly, the level of predictability was an achievement in itself. I've read this book before, just with different character names. And the "smut and spicy"? Even that got tedious. I actually started skimming those parts, which is saying something, considering they're usually the main event in these things. It just blurred into every other 'mob romance' scene I've ever encountered.
Do I recommend it? Sure, if you enjoy well-trodden paths and predictable melodrama. Otherwise, there are probably dust bunnies under your couch that offer more thrilling conflict.
Who edited this book? 🫣 the vague details and descriptions left soooo much missing. The timeline jumps felt too big and the FMC and MMC seemed so immature.
Was there any research on the mafia? Cause I feel like this was very poorly put together.
Also the book title had such a minor part in the book. I kept thinking it would come into play more.
I love the IDEA of this book, but not so much the execution…
This was a solid 3 until the final few chapters. All of a sudden it became hard to follow- almost like they stopped editing. Timeline was confusing and seemed like whole sentences and paragraphs were missing to make connections.
Also, I’m not sure who wrote the summary, but it captures one thing that happens but doesn’t provide the plot line at all.

Good read, I was a tiny bit put off by how Clara just shows up after years and boom, we’re off to the romance races. I would have liked a little more chase. But he’s older and does t want to waste time. Spice level is a 2 for me.
