Born of a union between an angel and a mermaid. Foretold to break the curse of a mad Fae queen. But there’s a catch…
For twenty years Seraph has been a captive of her fate, believing her life is not her own. Her isolation both haven and prison. And yet, safety is an illusion, for her destiny is bound to the world. When the nation hiding her is betrayed from within, she is forced to run.
While traversing the lands of Lorralei, overcoming the plights of her journey becomes only one challenge. Surviving the guardians escorting her is another. And as the end of the road draws closer, war over her blood swells on the horizon. Leaving Seraph’s heart divided—
Raised on a steady diet of sarcasm, fairy tales, Disney, and anime, K.M. Mohr has always been a storyteller. An avid reader of all genres, her true love is fantasy, with a dash of steampunk. When she’s not reading or writing, you can find her at the movies, or sipping on a Frappuccino, regardless of the time of year. Though she grew up in Northern California, she now calls Seattle, WA home.
What an emotional book! This one had me tearing up more than once, as Seraph's story is not easy or lovely, but this book is definitely amazing.
"Something in my chest hurt. Something I couldn’t touch or see. Like a weight pressing into me, threatening to crush my heart beneath its force. I’d always known my life had never truly been mine, that it was owed to the world, but having such convicting confirmation of my own … meaninglessness. It was humbling in a way I wasn’t sure I ever wanted to feel again."
Seraph is a woman born from an angel and a mermaid. Part of a prophecy that seems to say that she must die to save the world. I know we have all probably read a story with that trope, but I have never read one like this. It really delves into her life and her trauma; how she was raised and taught that her only real value lay in her death. As she journeys to go fulfill her role, bodies pile up around her as the Queen's army hunts her everywhere she goes. The guilt, the trauma and her life all spiral into an emotional ride for the reader just as much as the character.
KM Mohr does an amazing job of building the world and the characters with her words. I felt Seraphs pain several times. I felt her brief glimmers of hope and happiness. And I definitely felt her trauma and her guilt. I cant remember the last book that hit me the way that this one has.
I absolutely love Venyx. He is the perfect mix of bad-ass broody warrior wrapped around a soft heart and his strength and moments of tenderness are just what Seraph needs to keep from drowning in her life.
The ending.. that cliffy. My heart is breaking for Seraph. This has definitely set up book 2 to be just as emotional as this one. I cant wait to read the rest of this series and see what happens next for Seraph and Venyx.
I’ll be thinking about this book for a long time. Seraph’s trauma and grief were heartbreaking. I wanted to give her a hug so many times while I was reading this. Those parts were beautifully written. I felt every single emotion. And Venyx, gosh I love him. The ending was heartbreaking. There’s a reason this book has all 5 star reviews on Goodreads. You need to go read this when it releases on December 20. I will be here patiently waiting for book 2 because after that ending, I am not ok.
I CANT WITH YOU RIGHT NOW KRISTINA!!!! @km.mohr.indieauthor WHAT IN THE EVER LOVING !!!!!!!! OFFT
10 star book. Fuck 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ohhhhhh im sooooo angry right now (in a good way) incase you havent realised it the book ends on a cliffhanger not a "little" bit as per miss mohr here said when I wanted to prepare and asked her if it cliffhangered.
This book SHATTERED me. And I mean shattered. Not just emotionally but physically - sleep depriving. I got so engrossed it was 3 4 5 am before I would sleep and literally had that "okay one more chapter" mentality.
The story was full of SO many emotions, so much betrayal, hurt, love, just everything. The description were second to none! Everything was described down to the smallest detailing to literally make you feel as though YOU ARE Seraph !!! You literally go through the book feeling EVERYTHING Seraph feels, her angst, her loss, her loneliness, her inner turmoil of knowing what shes meant to do but fighting against it because she just wants to live her life.
FYI i totally am shipping Seraph & venyx !!!!!
I laughed, but god did i cry. So emotional. Thank you kristina for allowing me to be a part of this arc. I now have a void i dont know how im going to fill. Even with all the lovely books I've still to read & enjoy. 😭
Quick Summary This book had me hooked from page one. Intense twists, epic quests, and even some dragons! The friendships, heartbreak, and that wild “live just to die” concept gave me ALL the feels. The slow-burn romance and the deep, magical bond between Venyx and Seraph grew until my heart couldn’t take it.
Reading Thoughts 📘This book grabbed me straight from the start 📘Filled with lots of heated and intense moments that had me feeling all the feels. 📘The concept of this story was fantastic and the thought of someone living just to be killed. 📘This book has everything you want in a fantasy, quests, inns, forests and some dragons 📘There were twists and turns I didn’t see coming but when they did I was here for them. 📘The death that follows her must be such a huge weight to hold and my heart went out to her 📘I adored the deep connection of friendship between Venyx and Seraph that formed magically over the pages. Words that linger when 🍷“Because you are the Child of Sky and Sea, the sole being in this world with Divine blood and that of Sirenia.” I peered up at Aurorian again. “Because it was foretold long ago. With your life, your blood, our world will be free.” 🍷“What the fuck!” Nik shrieked. “Wear a fucking bell!” 🍷All I’d found since leaving the safehouse was blood and betrayal. 🍷“You looked dead!” he bellowed. Anger flooded me, red brimming my vision. “I can breathe underwater, asshole!” 🍷“Everyone is only concerned with what I give them, how I benefit them! What my life is worth to them!” 🍷“What is my life worth to you!” I shrieked. He said nothing, just continued staring. His silence only enraged me further, made the tears come harder, hotter, as a sob wracked through me. “Say somethin… 🍷But his arms were warm. His chest was solid. In that moment, wrapped up in him, nothing expected of me, he became the closest thing to a real friend I’d ever had, and a strange bittersweet joy washed through me. 🍷When I placed my other foot beside the first, I left behind my childhood, my home, everything I’d ever known. And walked to Venyx’s side. 🍷“You and me. That’s it. That’s all that exists.”

This was a slow burn for me in the beginning. I thought the fight scenes were a bit too long and far too many without enough story development.
But wait!...Throughout the beginning I kept feeling this buzz. Just a source of energy. Excitement, perhaps. I'm glad I stayed the course and kept reading. I couldn't wait to get through my work day so I could get home and read more. The pace picked up. The story developed more and the buzz and energy feelings continued right up to the very end.
I had to take a deep breath before writing this review because there is so much packed into the book, so much emotions, so much fast paced thrill that I’m still gathering my thoughts. As K.M. Mohr knows me and how I rate books, I hope she truly understands. I loved reading this fantastic adventure which took me on an imaginable world just like The Witcher with the gore, loss, battles, and traveling the lands. It all begins with a Fae Queen who falls in love with the Winter Sprite many, many, many years ago and a curse started, plaguing all the people and countries on the verge of war. Everyone only thinks of one single solution to break the curse, to sacrifice the Child of Sky and Sea. A motherless child is adopted by a shifter woman unicorn to be “groomed” during the years to finish once and for all the curse and help all the people to survive. As Seraph is grown up, she is escorted by two Amasian warriors and a Deymon across the world to safe heaven from all the threats and to be delivered to the Fae Queen to fulfill her destiny and break the curse. During this long journey, so much happens, so many characters show up and depart. There is political intrigue as well with other rulers, prime ministers, Aurorian (the shifter unicorn), the Amasians. It’s total chaos with so many interest in the famed Child of Sky and Sea that will save them all.
I do need to warn about the trigger warnings as this book has betrayal, trauma, severe PTSD, the worst part for me was the lost of animals lives (I’m an animal lover), psychological abuse, grooming, battle deaths and gore, etc. I do need to mention as well, that the FMC does tend to cry a lot from all the unlucky situations happening to her and she is naive, young and helpless. All due to the grooming she was brought up by.
With all this, the book does finish on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the second book when the author publishes it. Thank you K.M Mohr for this wonderful adventure. My heart still is beating fast from reading the last chapters!!!!!
P.S. my favorite chapter is 54 where the whole world stops just for one single beautiful moment. And what a beautiful moment it is!
Sentence that I loved with so much meaning for me: (chapter 55) ““I know how difficult trust is to come by, especially for you, he whispered, his voice like silk in my mind. No words can bring that kind of security, and I would expect no less”
It has been quite a while since a book touched me so much that I found myself crying while reading it. And not just in one or two chapters. Seraph's loneliness, angst, and her sheer will to live and love just screams through the pages.
Venyx may be a deymon, but he isn't just a cold-blooded killer for hire. He, like Seraph, has many layers.
The two learn much about each other along their travels. They discover they have more in common than would meet the eye.
I cannot express how well this was written. How much Seraph's story really hits you in the feels. How her destiny weighs very heavily upon her heart and soul and you feel every ounce of it in your own.
This is a wonderful book, one I am going to buy a physical copy of. One that I am highly recommending.
Even knowing this will have a cliffhanger didnt in anyway prepare me for the utter devastation I feel. This was soo much more than I expected. Seraph was prophesied to be born and to be sacrificed to save the world, with no choice in the matter, just a lamb to be slaughtered. K.M. I need book 2 3 4 5 6 ALL OF THEM like yesterday. And I will take this age gap any day of the week. IYKYK...
QUOTE:“They’re going to die protecting me,” I said, fighting back another surge of hysterics, one hand pointed toward the Plainsmen, “just to kill me anyway.”
This book is truly phenomenal! The style of writing instantly transports you into the story and keeps you there the entire time! I was unsure how I’d feel since this book is way way out of my normal but I’m in love! I absolutely can’t wait for the next book to come because I HAVE to know more! There was a complete unexpected twist I didn’t see and it captivated me to see what would happen to Seraph! This book is a 15/5 stars with just a sprinkling of spice! Perfect ❤️
My. God. The emotions in this book! I am not well! (In a good way, I promise.) This book had me on the verge of tears or holding my breath at so many different points. To be honest, it started out a bit slow for me. But it wasn’t too long before it really hooked me. And once it got going, it never stopped! But it’s so good!
My heart breaks for Seraph. She wants so badly to be her own person and control her own fate. But she is a pawn in that everyone in her life wants to use. That is until she meets Venyx. And that wasn’t even at first. He may be the first and only person in her life to truly see who she really is. I loved seeing his character come alive. From broody, angry, and aloof to protective, concerned, and present. And I loved the way their relationship grew. And hopefully will continue to grow. I’m ready for book #2!
I wholeheartedly recommend Of Sky & Sea. Just please check trigger warning before you do.
Thank you to K.M. Mohr for giving me the opportunity to read and review an ARC of Of Sky & Sea. These are my honest opinions.
absolutely loved this, as this is book one in a series it does end on a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting more!. the characters are amazing, the story follows seraph who is prophesized to sacrifice her life to save the world. they embark on a dangerous journey being hunted by the rivals to the next location. however she soon realizes she wants more for herself. slow burn, adventure, would recommend.
I am UNWELL. This book was amazing. Honestly, life changing. 💖 Finishing this book I don’t know if I want to scream, cry, hide under the blankets, or laugh hysterically like a maniac. 😭 I love it so much. This book takes you on a JOURNEY & you will not regret any moment of it. I will be getting a trophy for my shelf ASAP. I will be recommending this to everyone I know. I am absolutely feral for this book. Also, I’m SORRY NOT SORRY but Venyx is like the definition of an amazing book man. The protectiveness alone is ❤️🔥!!
Tropes: - Mermaid/Angel FMC x Deymon MMC - Slow Burn - Bodyguard Romance - Reluctant Allies - Chosen One - Hero’s Journey - Training Scenes - Mental Health Rep
CW: - Adult only read: adult language, innuendos - Open door spice: not extremely descriptive or prevalent but there is a few short scenes - READ TRIGGER WARNINGS: this is not a “light” romantasy. There are many HEAVY topics in this book. (They are all handled well)
Every once in a while, a fantasy book comes along that just clicks—the kind that pulls you in from page one and refuses to let go. For me, Of Sky and Sea was exactly that. Five stars, no hesitation.
What I adored most is how every character feels alive. Seraph is a phenomenal heroine—resilient, determined, and shaped by a life of solitude, surrounded only by those who had been hired by others to protect her. Even so, every character she meets along the way left a mark. K.M. Mohr has a gift for writing people who feel real, whether they’re allies, enemies, or just passing through. Nothing feels wasted; every interaction adds texture to the world.
And then there’s Venyx. Oh my god, Venyx. I didn’t expect to love him as much as I did. At first, he’s cold, untouchable, wrapped in this icy armor that makes you think he’ll never thaw. But watching his walls crack—watching him slowly shift from distant to deeply loyal—was one of the most rewarding character arcs I’ve read in a long time. The moment it’s clear he would lay down his life for Seraph? I had chills. That kind of transformation, when done right, is pure magic. And Mohr nailed it.
The world-building is breathtaking. The places in this story are described with such detail that they come to life on the page, and the battle scenes are written so vividly that I could easily follow every clash and moment of tension. It added so much depth to the story and kept me fully engaged from start to finish.
What really stuck with me, though, were the twists and reveals. Just when I thought I knew where the story was heading, Mohr threw in surprises that had me gasping and flipping pages faster. Some moments completely blindsided me in the best way, and those shocks made the emotional payoff hit even harder.
⚠️ Trigger Warning: This book does contain some darker themes and moments, so readers should be mindful before diving in.
On a personal note, this was an ARC read for me, and I’m so very thankful to have been given the chance to step into this world early. It was a privilege to experience it ahead of release, and it left me not only satisfied but hungry for more.
In short: Of Sky and Sea gave me everything I crave in fantasy—an immersive world, characters with depth, and an emotional journey that left me both wrecked and inspired. It’s the kind of book that makes you want to dive right back in the second you finish, just to live in that world a little longer.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5. Easily. And I absolutely cannot wait for book two!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book is for those dark fantasy readers that can take those trigger and content warnings and still walk through this incredible and jarring journey with an opened mind. Knowing this is Book 1 I knew it would end on a cliffhanger but not one I was expecting. This book does have spice but there is still a crawling, grueling slow burn!!!! Including a gut wrenching prophecy, betrayal, unique characters and tons of gore may not be for every reader. Trusting in what she's be told her whole life vs trusting in herself is the jounrey of Seraph, the Child of Sky & Sea. ✨️📚✨️
Seraph has been dealt a rough hand in life- the daughter of a Mermaid and an Angel who was brought into the world knowing she must die to save it.
Of Sky and Sea takes us on a journey through Lorrelai where Seraph and some unlikely allies fight an army determined to bring Seraph to the evil Queen Faei. Along the way, Seraph is fighting herself, desperate to find a solution that does not result in her life ending.
A story filled with emotion, beautiful descriptions so vivid you feel like you're there, and an ending that leaves you wanting more. I highly recommend this book, but it comes with a warning- this might very well be your next obsession.
Some tropes: Chosen One Reluctant Allies to Lovers One Bed (but make it one tree) Green Flag Shadow Daddy Epic Battles
I have so many words to say I don’t even know wheee to start. Watching Seraph grow from a scared woman to someone who is ready to take her life into her own hands was such an amazing journey. Her heartbreak elicited a physical response from me which made her journey even more amazing to read. That ending? I NEED to know what happens next.
Venyx is officially my favorite character. His personality takes some getting used to at first but boy is it absolutely worth it. He will quickly become a favorite and will steal your heart.
The entire book I never knew what would happen next. The world building, the detail, the characters, the drama, the heartbreak, the love, I can’t even begin to explain what a journey this was. I cannot wait to see what happens next for these wonderful characters.
Where do I even begin? This book has my whole heart in a vice and it just squeezed every last drop of devastation out of it…..and then came back for seconds.
I finished Of Sea and Sky in less than 24 hours. I COULD NOT PUT THE BOOK DOWN!
K.M. Mohr’s writing style is emotionally charged, action packed and full of all the angst. Let’s not forget the world building! The map at the beginning of the book is beautiful and detailed. I referenced it, while I watched Seraphs journey unfold, because I’m a map girl at heart and I love the visuals.
K.M. Mohr’s descriptions throw you into the world, as if you are looking through Seraphs eyes and seeing everything she sees and feeling everything she feels.
Which is why the book is beautifully written devastation and trauma wrapped up in a pretty package determined to rip your soul out and serve it back to you on a platter and you’ll be begging for seconds.
The author challenges us with poignant questions about our morality, decisions for the greater good and our future in this world. The banter between characters in the book is amusing, the emotional moments are tense and heart wrenching.
The battle scenes are epic, full scale action packed scenes that will have you clutching your pearls and gasping.
I caution you if you have triggers, as this ticks many dark themes and is not for the faint of heart. Bring tissues, a support group and comfy blanket. Buckle in for the emotionally charged story of your life. It’s been a few days and I’ve been unable to pick up another book, it’s just that good. Off to trauma bond with my fellow sirens!
this book was amazing a beautifully written. def check your triggers before reading this book because it does involve heavy topics like ptsd, self harm, beheading, child death and a lot of gore. but the world building was there and it wasn't over bearing, character development was amazing and it was just so packed with action. the ending tho with the cliff hanger is killing me, i need to know what happens next asap!!
Wow. What a journey. Seraph was born to die, her life not hers but owed to the world. This is an emotional world of connection and loneliness. Angst and composure. Ardor and loathing. This is not another fantasy you can find on every shelf. But a mental immersion into a dimension of K.M Mohr’s making.
This book isn’t just fantasy, it’s inheritance disguised as prophecy. A 10,000-year-old deymon mercenary as a bodyguard. A 25-year-old chosen one, who’s half mermaid, half angel. A couple of spies sworn to protect her. What could possibly go wrong?
Everything. Beautifully.
This story surprised me. Not with shock value, but with revelation. It unfolds like saltwater memory: slow, inevitable, and stinging once you realize how deep you’re already submerged. Seraph’s growth is the quiet triumph here. She doesn’t harden; she clarifies. She learns what was withheld from her and keeps standing anyway.
And the lore—especially around the deymons—feels ancient and deliberate, like something dug up rather than invented.
There’s also something exquisitely unsettling about what’s missing. The prologue doesn’t lie—but it withholds. The prophecy feels incomplete by design, as if memory itself has been edited. Whether that old woman erased something or time simply swallowed it, there are gaps here that hum with intent. Or perhaps it’s just that no one questioned it.
But the real key? Venyx’s favorite poem. A map. A warning. A love letter written by fate itself. It reads like destiny already knows how this ends… and grieves it in advance.
This book understands something dangerous and true: Love doesn’t save you from prophecy. It binds you tighter to it.
Rating: 6 ⭐️
✨ Highlights • Seraph’s emotional and moral growth • Deymon lore that feels ancient and earned • A prophecy that withholds as much as it reveals • Venyx: protector, witness, inevitable ruin

The Vibe: 🗡️ Protector x Charge 🖤 "Touch Her and Die" Energy 🗣️ "Eyes on me" (Swoon) 🗺️ High Stakes Travel/Survival 🥺 Emotional Damage
The Review: Wow. Just... wow. This book took me on a wild ride from page one. Watching Seraph race to escape the White Army was stressful in the best way possible. The tension never lets up as you wonder if the enemy is lurking around the corner. The world-building here is absolutely delightful. Every word paints a vivid picture of the lands, making you feel like you are running right alongside them.
But it’s the characters that stole the show.
Seraph: My heart breaks for her. She has so much trauma to work through, and while she is incredibly strong in her determination to fulfill her destiny, you never forget that she is also just a girl who desperately wants to live her own life. Her vulnerability is what made this character resonate with me.
Venyx: The dynamic here? Chef’s kiss. He is a deymon entrusted to protect her, and he is so attuned to her needs. Every time he said "eyes on me," I melted. It was such a grounding moment every single time.
The Verdict: The ending was absolutely gut-wrenching. I saw parts of it coming, but other twists completely blindsided me. If you love a story with ups, downs, and emotional damage worthy of a therapy session—pick this up immediately!
First, thank you KM Mohr for letting me be a part of this ARC team. Second, let’s break this bitch (the book) down.
The writing - I enjoyed the structure of the book and how it was written. It allows a better understanding for the story being told. The language of the writing was easy to understand and the style of language written for different characters gives different perspectives.
THE STORYLINE - THE PLOT - I truly loved the adventure and journey I went on with the FMC with all of the twists and turns and self-discovery. While I can’t predict where the story will go in the next book, I can tell there’s a lot (and I mean A LOT) of room for character and story expansion
THE CHARACTERS - might be one of my favorite FMCs because of relatability in personality (while she is not human, has rather humanistic qualities). SHE’S JUST A GIRL. The development in relationship between the fmc and mmc was just 🥹 but slow burn to fucking hell.
And the ending… I don’t wanna talk about it 🙃🥲 I shall wait patiently for the next book but until then, I’ll just cry a little to myself
Hello, people! This is the first book in the series The Winter Wars. Ohhh... This book blew me away. It made me cry several times. It was an explosion of emotions. And I'm not exaggerating at all. The 5 ⭐ pales in comparison. First, I'll start by saying that the author touched on many social and personal issues such as betrayal, love, loneliness, loss, friendship, etc. Then, we have the heroes that she has structured in such a way that they had depth and were well-written. Now, let's move on to the world building. It was unique, excellent and fantastic. Furthermore, the story was complete, with proper development and evolution that captivates the readers. What more could I ask for? The information and knowledge were as detailed as it could be. Finally, the author's writing is full of emotions and imagination, warm, romantic, cinematic and captivating. Note: The book will be released in less than a week! It's worth reading! I will definitely get it in print too.
let me tell you where i’m at right now. i’m sitting down, processing everything i just read and feeling a hole. A HOLE IN MY SOUL. i want more. i neeeeed more.
I feel like i can’t even express how much i loved this book at the moment because im still processing everything. but i will be strong.
K. M. MOHR has done a fantastic job building a world and creating characters that within moments i’m attached to. This being the first book, i have so many questions and anticipations for what comes next and am very excited for whatever comes next.
This book has trigger warnings that should be understood before reading. I had to take some breaks after some scenes. one in particular i ended up skimming. the author makes the warnings very clear as her writing is real went it comes to war and pillaging. But she doesn’t spend pages after pages witnessing things.
I am so excited for the next book and am just overall pleased and happy that I found this author and was selected for the arc. 🧡
“Predators sense predators.” “I want a life that’s mine.”
5⭐️ is not enough for this masterpiece if I could give infinite stars I would.
Where do I begin describing a book that is a solid masterpiece??…this soon to be best seller was a perfect dopamine and adrenaline boost.
From page 1 I was fully invested and decided to read this over adulting. The world building had depth without being overwhelming, has angst mixed with confusing desire.
I felt connected to the fmc Seraph and how she felt about the life path she was given. She has strength and determination that is to be admired.
There were plot twists you will never see coming and will have you wanting to consume this work of art and never let it go. If fantasy is your genre this is the next book that will top the charts and ruin you in the best way imaginable. This book becomes part of you and will probably give you your next book boyfriend.
Releases 12/20/2025 and I highly recommend you read it!!!
Thank you K.M. Mhor for the opportunity to read this before its debut, I loved every minute of this book!
This debut romantasy launches you into the fray of the story and that pace does not loosen its grip until the very end. I genuinely enjoyed this action-packed, high stakes, high fantasy story telling!
The slow burn in this book is devastating and I was so here for it. The emotional trauma the characters experience had me clutching my heart. The plot development is immaculate.
The ending? I personally live for brutal cliff hangers and it did not disappoint! This is definitely one to pick up.
So, I have to say, it took me quite a few chapters to get into this book. Whether that was because I wasn't in the mood for a fantasy, or some other reason I cannot say. There are some minor gramatical edits that need to be made before publication. I did not enjoy Seraph as a character for the most part. Her woah is me attitude was quite annoying. Once she gained some confidence and fight I started to enjoy her a bit more. I enjoyed the relationship that bloomed as well. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. Perhaps ill get lucky again for another arc. thank you for allowing me the privilege to review your book as my first arc. looking forward to what comes next.
Ohmygod what a read!! I was sucked in from page one. Apparently I devour emotionally devastating books because oh man the author does not hold back on who dies in this book!
I was absolutely blown away with how amazing this book is. It just has everything you could possibly want in a book; emotional devastation, betrayals, loss, pain, determination, friendship, loyalty. I just can't get over how much of a chokehold these characters have on me.
Seraph has just a terrible future set out for her. One she had no say in. And throughout the book, I really just loved how she began to grow and realize what she wanted with her life. But Ohmygod, the absolute devastation that seems to follow her everywhere she turns. I was angry, I was crying, I was furious for her.
The absolute devastation I had for some of these side characters was ridiculous! The plot twists that came from out of nowhere were insane. All I have to say is, don't become emotionally invested in any side character cause they are fair game in the death department. I was crying in some of these instances because why???!!!!
Now my absolute favorite character in this book would have to be Venyx. The depth of change his character goes through as he gets closer to Seraph is beautiful. And he has dual swords. I'm a sucker for an MMC with dual swords because how cool is that? I just really love his character. He's broody, he's loyal, he has such a protectiveness for Seraph that just will have you swooning.
Now this story is not for the faint of heart. There are so many instances where the devastation of war is just brutal and gut wrenching. I was sobbing with these characters because just the horrific acts of violence that happens is just soul crushing. You can feel the turmoil that Seraph goes through because she's led to believe that her death would end all of this devastation. But does she want to save herself or will she sacrifice her life for everyone else.
This book was absolutely amazing. I did not want to put it down, but I didn't want it to end either. The ending made me need more!! I cannot wait for Book 2 because I feel like things are going to go down and I am so excited for it.
Of Sky and Sea completely consumed me — emotionally, mentally, and honestly a little physically thanks to the amount of sleep I lost due to being unable to put this book down. This is the kind of book that pulls you under and doesn’t let go, and when it’s over, you’re left sitting there with that hollow, aching feeling that only truly special stories leave behind.
The emotional depth is incredible. You don’t just observe the story — you feel it. Every emotion is written in a way that seeps into your bones, and the connection to the main character is so strong it feels personal. This isn’t a light fantasy; it’s layered, heavy in the best way.
The writing is immersive and beautifully detailed without being overwhelming. The world feels alive, the characters feel real, and the relationships are complex, raw, and meaningful. I laughed, I cried, I paused just to breathe — and I loved every second of it.
Please check trigger warnings, as this book does not shy away from darker themes, but if you love emotionally driven fantasy that lingers long after the last page, this one is unforgettable.
Thank you to K.M Mohr for the opportunity to arc read this masterpiece. I can’t wait to read the next one. Highly recommend you read this one it’s brilliant.
