Dangerous Magic: A Between the Worlds Novel

Rate this book
Ashwood is a small town stuck between mortal earth and Fairy, living an a tenuous peace between cultures and worlds. Allie McCarthy understands that feeling all too well, as someone who has grown up in Ashwood and who exists stuck between those two cultures, with each pulling her in different directions. After years of effort she thought she'd found a balance between the opposing forces that surround her, at least until she's asked to consult in what seems like a simple police case and finds herself quickly drawn into an investigation that could reshape everything. The human police and Elven Guard are forced to work together again and if Allie can't get them to cooperate and if they can't succeed in finding their suspect then the consequences will impact far more than just Ashwood.
Someone has found a way, using ritual magic, to steal the power of the fey and as the body count climbs Allie, the human police, and the Elven Guard are in a race against time to avert disaster. Synchronicity moves in all things, and its hand seems to be guiding the events around Allie as she struggles to navigate conflicting personalities, conflicts of interest, and a job she doesn't really know how to do, but even synchronicity has its limits. They must solve this mystery and find their suspect before he crosses a line that none of them can come back from.
