'Tale Of The Troubled Timepiece’
Culling a lifetime of physical items of sentimental value is difficult enough, but to do it for someone else’s belongings? It’s a good deed to assist the deceased since they can never repay the favor. Respecting the person’s space is just as important as taking good care of the items themselves. Cassie is thorough with her cleansing and checking in with Balty for his thoughts on discarding, donating, keeping, selling, etc. It’s a difficult balance of which memories to cherish and which to discard. This ties in well with Cassie’s having her own housekeeping of the heart as she continues her healing journey and finding herself again post-break-up. The below is an example of her self-reflection:
‘ “The end of my relationship brought sadness and hurt and I've let it influence my confidence and joy. I lost myself in the relationship and didn't prioritise my own needs," I said, disappointed with how I had moved myself into the background of my own relationship. I'd been so desperate to live up to Agatha's expectations that I'd lost myself in it.’
Some sage significant-other advice:
Find joy in the small things.
Don’t waste time by taking things for granted.
Hobbies are very important to our emotional well-being.
Chuckle:
‘I was getting the one-night stand conversation from a cat. How my love life had fallen.’
Will Cassie’s self-esteem and confidence return soon? She may need some of both since there’s an “Unwelcome Guest” in the next book of this ‘The Coffee House Witch’ series.
***Personal note:
Well, I was all sat down with a cuppa green tea ready to delve into Cassie’s newest adventure. That was all until Faye brought in bags of take-away… I ended up making a Vietnamese street food-inspired veggie pizza – thanks for the gastronomical exploration, Ari!
