Jacklyn Stone is still reeling from her time at Shore Lodge where her son had her unjustly admitted and planned on taking all of her possessions, including her money.

She’s a strong woman and she survived but she is always leery that her son may show up again and continue to harass her. One night, he breaks into her home with a couple of other men, planning to take her by surprise and commit even more crimes against her. She is more than ready and fends him off.

Added to that, she has a troublesome neighbor that causes her even problems and puts her beloved dog at risk.

I have enjoyed all of the Jacklyn Stone books and look forward to more. Ms. Oram is a great author and her descriptions of the scenery and the various characters are vivid and easy to bond with.

I highly recommend this book to lovers of good solid thrillers.

Susan Specht Oram’s latest book, Avalanche, is an exciting look at residents in Millersville.
Some have had continuing trouble with illnesses, others with money issues, and one with a severe accident.

As with previous Jacklyn Stone books, the characters are quite familiar. Some are sweet, some are not.
Some are suffering from emotional trauma, others are plotting devious plans, and one gets injured in a real avalanche.

I enjoyed revisiting old friends, and can’t wait for book 4 of the Jacklyn Stone Thriller series.

“Avalanche: A Jacklyn Stone Thriller” by Susan Specht Oram is an edge-of-your-seat read that blends domestic drama with heart-pounding danger. Although it’s the third book in the series, it can easily be enjoyed as a standalone. Jacklyn is a strong, complex character who finds herself caught in a storm of secrets, tension, and life-or-death stakes. The pacing is sharp, making it the kind of book you can fly through in one sitting. It’s a thrilling, quick read that I simply couldn’t put down!

Avalanche is another gripping entry in the Jacklyn Stone series, and honestly, I think it’s the strongest installment yet. Susan Specht Oram has such a knack for pulling you right into Jacklyn’s world—a world full of family betrayals, small-town drama, and dangers that feel both intimate and life-threatening.

What I loved most here is how personal the stakes are. Jacklyn is still reeling from past losses, yet she refuses to let anyone push her down—not her manipulative son staging a home invasion, not the neighbors who cause her more grief than help, and not even the brutal force of nature itself. Watching her take on every challenge with grit and determination made me root for her more than ever. She’s a heroine who feels both vulnerable and indestructible at the same time.

The pacing is fast and relentless. One minute you’re caught in the tension of a midnight break-in, the next you’re pulled into community secrets and shocking betrayals, and then suddenly you’re bracing yourself for the literal avalanche that puts everything at risk. It’s the kind of thriller that keeps you flipping pages late into the night, because you just have to know how Jacklyn will get through it all.

What really stands out is the mix of psychological tension and emotional weight. This isn’t just about the thrills—it’s about messy family ties, betrayal that cuts deep, and a woman who’s done being underestimated. The plot twist at the end was especially satisfying, and left me both shocked and eager for the next book.

If you’ve followed Jacklyn from Shore Lodge through The Winter Storm, you’ll love how Avalanche raises the stakes while keeping her voice as sharp and resilient as ever. And if you’re new to the series, don’t worry—you can jump in here and still get completely caught up in the story.

A taut, emotional, and absolutely unputdownable thriller. Highly recommend.

The fast paced thriller, Avalanche, is Book 3 in the Jacklyn Stone series by Susan Specht Oram. The resilient female lead character, Jacklyn is dealing with grief, financial setbacks, and a devious, conniving son determined to ruin her. As Jacklyn fights to overcome these hurdles, the reader is also immersed in the strangely intertwined lives of the other characters from each of their point of view. The story moves quickly switching back and forth between character storylines leaving the reader anxiously anticipating what will happen next. The story ends leaving some storylines unresolved to be continued in book 4 of the series. The ending leaves the reader satisfied though and eagerly awaiting more.

This thriller swept me away as I was writing it, and I loved stepping into Jacklyn Stone's world and seeing how she deals with her conniving, greedy son when he stages a home invasion in her home. The ending was fun to write (no spoilers for the twist)!

I hope you'll love reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
All the best in reading, Susan
