Tasked with shutting down Ziora's investigation and reporting on his family's business, The Bloodline, was all Ezra was supposed to do. When he first laid eyes on her, he knew he had to have her. No longer concerned with shutting her blogging down, Ezra takes matters into his own hands and sets all his focus on making Ziora his.
When her sister was murdered Ziora made it her life mission to avenge her death. She knew no one else would give her sister the proper justice and decided to dig on her own. She didn't expect to learn that something far more sinister was at play in Silver Stone and everyone seemed to ignore it.
Now stuck in this cat and mouse game, Ezra refuses to let Ziora go and she's determined to fight whatever is brewing between them. Along the way, she joins forces with him and brothers to take down the evil organization hiding in the Shadows of Silver Stone. When things take a turn and things turn dangerous Ziora learns that she might have bit off more than she can chew and Ezra will do whatever he has too to keep her safe.
* This is book two of an interconnected standalone, family saga. While it can be read on its own, you'll get more joy and better understanding by reading in order.*
Tay Mo'Nae is a 27-year-old Urban Romance author who pens about Black Love. She create stories to help her readers escape reality and create a movie in their head. She loves writing about characters that at least one reader can relate too.
With 50 books under her belt, Tay Mo'Nae hopes to gain at least one new reader with every release and have them connect to her characters and story in some way. If she would have to explain her writing she would say she loves "penning complicated characters that find a path to love".
tay wasn’t kidding when she said this book is long af bc it really dragged on with unnecessary bs where i needed to be OBSESSED, but instead i got bored.
heroine is a smart hacker, but wasn’t very smart at certain situations that was making me side eye her like… you’re only good for sucking d.ck and computers unfortunately. i wanted resilient, but she was very quick to fold.
i hope tay comes thru for Lucas + Emmet (i hope it’s heroine’s bff) bc this was a letdown.
She’s done it again! Tay Mo’nae put her entire body into Merciless Obsession and I was seated and engaged the entire time. Even when I finished the 500 pages, I was still feigning for another 100 pages at the end - that’s how good the book was, to me! While the book is darker featuring stalking, kidnapping, obsessive behavior, morally grey characters, amongst other things, there was a suspenseful element that elevated the story. It felt like two stories were being played out at the same time and that had to be a challenge but Tay made it seem effortless.
The main female character, Ziora, runs a website dedicated to exposing the bad guys. Ziora’s main goal is to avenge the kidnapping and death of her sister and other young girls in the city. The main male character, Ezra, is a lawyer, member of the Tavarez family. Ezra became obsessed with Ziora after being tasked with finding and threatening her for exposing the family. It was quite entertaining to see the lengths Ezra went to have Ziora as his. And honestly, I loved every minute of it.
The character development, unique traits, cat and mouse game, comedic relief, social commentary, mental health representation - was all an excellent addition to the book. I was following the bread crumbs and twists like I was watching a television series! And the interesting thing is, there’s still so much left to uncover with bringing down the “bad guys” - I’m hoping Lucas’ story is next because he needs closure! Amazing job, 10/10 would recommend!! I fear I will be rereading Merciless Obsession again because Ezra and his “bumblebee” were everything!
I’ve never been more intrigued by the amount of toxicity going on in someone’s relationship. When I say that this man with the every single length to get this girl. It was high key stalking. There’s no way that she would’ve got away from him. And then after a while, she started to like the sense of stalking so who is the drama here I couldn’t tell both of them were equally as full of shit. Read this if you have always wanted someone to come after you with such a vengeance that they could not let it go.
Whew, this book was a time! Ezra was honestly unlike any MMC that I’ve read about before. He took possessive & unhinged to the NEXT level and I feel like it only got worse as the book went on. Despite his obsession, his care, passion, and protection for Ziora was palpable. And I loved that even though untraditional, he was the type of man she needed after a life of hyper independence and not being protected. Outside of the romance, there’s a rich storyline focused on human trafficking and the murder of disenfranchised teen girls. I enjoyed watching Ziora and the Tavarez brothers trying to piece the mystery together. My BIGGEST complaint is that even after 500+ pages, the story is unfinished🙄. Considering that these are interconnected standalones I would have preferred for the storyline to be finished in this book and a new (but related) plot be ready to explore in Book 3. But with the way this read & ended it seems like it’ll keep going for Lucas’ book (which I’m assuming is next). This book is definitely dark so read the trigger warnings and know that it still isn’t like anything you probably imagined.
Who knew I would fall in love with a clinically diagnosed psychopath stalker. OMG I’m loving this series and the overall storyline mystery. Ezra was everything. 😍😂
Ezra Tavarez: If “deranged artist” was a person, it would be Ezra. He’s crazy in every sense of the word, just as much as he’s sensitive about his art lol. One minute you’re side-eyeing him, the next you’re fully in awe. Ezra is truly in a class all his own.
Ziora Lambert: If “older sister” was a person, it would be Ziora. She takes her role as her sister’s keeper seriously, and every move she makes—every sacrifice—is for her sister and girls like her. She’s strong, selfless, and the type of character you root for immediately.
Tay Mo’Nae outdid herself with book two. We already had a crush on Ezra from his brother’s book, but nothing could’ve prepared us for living in his head. He’s complex, magnetic, and completely unapologetic about making his own rules.
Ziora, on the other hand, grabbed our hearts for a different reason. Her mission was one we backed from the jump. Fierce, intelligent, and sometimes downright reckless, she’s passionate to the point of chaos—and we loved every minute. (Her looks didn’t hurt when it came to Ezra either, lol.)
Their cat-and-mouse dynamic? Whew. Tay Mo’Nae reminds us that the thrill isn’t in the catch—it’s in the chase. The banter was sharp, the tension electric, and nothing felt forced. From page one to the very last sentence, we were locked in.
Tay Mo’Nae is building something special here. This isn’t just a dark romance—it flirts with thriller vibes and keeps you on edge. Silver Stone might look shiny on the surface, but it’s layered with secrets and shadows. We love the way this bigger mystery is playing out across the series.
We laughed, we gasped, and we loved every messy, twisted second of Ezra and Ziora’s unconventional love story. For your person, being yourself—in all your shades—isn’t just enough, it’s exactly what they need.
Pour yourself a drink, clear your weekend, and get ready for an obsession you won’t want to escape. Trust your favorite sisters—this one’s a must-read.
(If you haven’t read Stolen Matrimony yet, start with book one for the full experience.)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️|🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ This was written so well and very much worth the wait! This is my favorite story I’ve read by Tay’Monae so far. The FMC and MMC character development was top tier. The dynamic between them was so uniquely crafted. I loved reading about them and all the side characters. The spice was also done well! Overall I enjoyed getting more secrets revealed because there’s a story within the main story with this series in each book.
I literally don’t have the words to leave a proper review. This book was… crazy! Don’t get me wrong, I loved it, but my God!! 😂😂😂 Ezra is certifiably psychotic… like padded walls crazy. And Ziora is a little coo coo too! I think I read this clutching my pearls 80% of the time. Chillllleeeee….
ezra and ziora 🫶🏾. i love a good stalker romance. i knew in stolen matrimony that i liked ezra and there was more to him but in this book i feel more in love with him. ezra comes off as funny and charismatic but he’s a serious lawyer, doesn’t play about his family, overprotective. he didn’t play when it came to ziora and that’s exactly what she needed, she needed someone who truly saw her, would stand up for her and protect, lighten her load. outside of inaya she didn’t have anyone she could trust or depend on until ezra came into her life. i loved seeing how determined ziora was about getting justice for her sister and all the other girls who were being kidnapped and killed. the scene where they rescued the girl in the cage was so heavy but also beautiful because of the way ziora protected her and spoke up for her when she realized the guys made her uncomfortable. ziora definitely had me frustrated at times because of how stubborn and set in her ways she was like when she said she closed herself off from love because he sister died and would never experience love like girl she’d want you to be happy, then when ezra was trying to keep her safe she fought him at every turn and wouldn’t accept his help. also she kept saying she didn’t wanna be treated as a damsel in distress but she had no situational awareness when the car was following her and when the cops came to the house..but she redeemed herself when she helped ezra kill the cops who kidnapped her. even though ezra was diagnosed to have psychopathic tendencies i do believe he loves ziora even though he’s obsessive and possessive and refers to her as a toy he does love her and shows it through his actions both in a quiet love way and verbally since he’s always giving her words of affirmation/praises. i can’t wait for the next book, everyone was looking at lucas like he was crazy when he said he saw her but i’ve believed him when he said she’s alive too, i can’t wait to see how the story unfolds since it’s a second chance love. also iyana and emmet i can’t wait for their book too, she gets him out of his shell and pushes him just as ezra pushed ziora, emmet comes off of as standoffish and closed off he definitely has similarities like ezra of being a psychopath but i don’t think he is one but he lets iyana be in his space and around him a lot so i cant wait to see their love unfold. a war is coming and i can’t wait for them to take down the veil.
If you thought Nazai was insane, meet his brother Ezra - the definition of bat sh*t crazy!
Ziora has been following the Tavarez family amongst others, for YEARS! She was trying to get to the bottom of the missing girls in her town and she did that by blogging under a pen name, and shedding light on these missing girls. The Tavarez family sees her at several events hidden as a "journalist" and they needed to get to the bottom of their name being put out for the world to see - since they were all in the limelight, in their own right, but people didn't know they were involved in The Bloodline. Ziora gets stalked by Ezra, in a way that no woman would ever want (or would they?). After leaving a bunch of notes, she is finally kidnapped, and becomes Ezra's obsession for the foreseeable future. Ziora showed no desire to succumb to the pressure Ezra was putting on, but eventually, she realized she liked playing his games, his way. They eventually are inseparable - well, she had no choice. Ziora realized that she and the Tavarez family was fighting the same fight in their own way. Once she realized Ezra wasn't letting up, she got with the program, and eventually got more acquainted with the family business. Ziora realized what lengths Ezra would go for her and truly became his masterpiece.
I would definitely recommend this series - it kept me on my toes for sure. I was going off on Ziora in Chapter 32, because girl, why would you go with the cops? That lapse in judgement had me wanting to throw my kindle. But Ezra came through, as I knew he would. He was ready to turn The Sticks to dust and I was here for it!
May a love like Ezra Tavarez NEVER, and I do mean NEVER, find me. This is the first Tay Mo’Nae book I did not like. I literally had to skip the last 100 pages because I felt the plot was getting nowhere. The elements discussed in this book were very off putting, and although things like that do happen in real life, it was just too much. The plot was very long and at some points, unnecessary. The “Wilma”part at the end really turned me off. Like why?? Ezra has to be my least favorite male character ever. Talk about clinically obsessed and the walking definition of Antisocial Personality Disorder, and you have Ezra Tavarez. I really don’t care to read Book 3, if there is a book 3. This entire series has been very overwhelming, and NOT in a good way. One more thing Tay Mo’Nae, I have said this in previous reviews, but please proofread your work before publishing it for the world to read. I cannot stand grammatical errors/misspelling in the book I’m reading. Thank you.
I hated the main characters. I’ve never read a book where I disliked them so much and kept reading because the story enthralled me.
It’s the story of Ezra and Ziora, both of whom we met in Book 1. Ziora was the journalist who was writing about the family until Ezra kidnapped, drugged her and got involved with her.
This book is about the sex trafficking of 13 & 14 yr old girls with a little organ trafficking mixed in. It’s a dark book because the Tavares family are vigilantes hunting those that the law doesn’t punish. That story hooked me. I had to put up with “the romance” part because it wasn’t a traditional romance.
Borrowed this from Kindle Unlimited and will read book 3 whenever it comes out. While there wasn’t a cliffhanger ending, the story was unresolved and I want to know if they accomplish their mission to bring down the sex trafficking ring.
Finally, this isn’t a book for everyone. Read the trigger warnings cause this is some dark ish!
Friend, Merciless Obsession had me up two nights straight laughing, gasping, and clutching my invisible pearls. Ezra Tavares is a fine, functioning psychopath (yes, I said it) who had no business being that crazy behind his 🐝, Zoria. By day, he’s a brilliant lawyer, and all the time a ruthless killer with his girl Wilma 🪓 his weapon that saw more action than me, and I’m still salty about it‼️🤷🏽♀️
Zoria didn’t come from love, but she loved her sister enough to dig for answers, and instead she found Ezra. Well, I lied, he found her. Baby, Ezra was my kinda crazy. He didn’t play about his 🐝; I was HERE for it.
And don’t get me started on her best friend. I think she's maybe Ezra 2.0 and the other Tavares brothers. I know that the story of the sexy doctor sibling will snatch me up. My friend cooked with this one, and I’m waiting for the next plate!
Merciless Obsessions by Tay Monae was everything I didn’t know I needed from book 2 in the Bloodline Series. Now Ezra ain’t no Nazai, but don’t get it twisted—he’s not the same playful guy we met in Stolen Matrimony. In this one, the beast comes out. That fun, charming persona? Still there… but now paired with an obsessive, possessive streak when it comes to Ziora. She was his, and he didn’t care who knew—or who had a problem with it. 😉
Ziora just wanted to solve her sister’s murder, but she didn’t expect to be pulled into Ezra’s dark, all-consuming world… and maybe, just maybe, she didn’t want to leave. I loved everything about this book. Not sure if Luca or Emmet is next but I’m ready today.
All I have to say is this was a 100% one of the most amazing books that I read. Ezra is my man my man my man!!!!!! I don't care about his freak or his crazy it matched the delulu energy I have. I have no words I have no words... Ya'll go read the d*** book check the triggers cause some of you all might not be able to but miss ma'am this was a Wild Read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. As reminded of being clinically dubbed a psychopath but zorea she wouldn't all there in the head either because You have to be off your nutter to like somebody that's is off they nutter....
I am living for Inyah and Emmett and I can't wait to see what that develops into your room. Cause my girl is just as certified as Ezra when it comes to going after Emmett.
Merciless Obsession would have to be one of my favorite books that Tay Mo’Nae has written. Ezra & Ziora are not all the way there in the head, but are perfect for each other and that’s all that matters. I loved the cat and mouse chase it was *chefs kiss*
My biggest gripe about this story is that we did not get a conclusion on the criminal enterprise that the bloodline was investigating. We get new facts about who could be involved & their unlikely connection, and then the epilogue?… the transition should’ve been smoother as it had me wondering if a few pages were missing in-between. Because of this I’m assuming we’ll pick back up with the action in either Lucas or Emmets book.
Ezra was a special case. I loved the way he showed you his love; it wasn't traditional. Ziora had to grew up fast. I felt bad the one person who she tried her hardest to make a better life for them was taken in a horrible way. I kinda of figured the chief was involved with the "Veil". He was so had on Ziora to stop investigating her sister's case. Why do I feel like in the upcoming books with Lucas and Emmett we the readers are going to be thrown for a loop? I believe one of the characters that we have read about might be apart of the " Veil"!!!!! I'm not talking about the 4 brothers????
Whew. This was an interesting read. Ezra was indeed obsessed with Ziora—it was a bit unnerving, but it worked. She was just as obsessed as he was even with fight she put up initially. While the love story between these two was hot & steamy, I was more enthralled with the mystery they were trying to solve.
Honestly, I want Luke’s book next. I feel like he needs closure and I lowkey want him to have a love interest that isn’t the missing friend—idk why I just do. I’m still on the fence with Emmet possibly being with Ziora’s friend, but that might be because I feel like he’s mine lol.
Ziora and Ezra I am a little on the fence with this one. Ezra is way over the top with this obsession. But Ziora has been warned, that this is more than an obsession. He actually has a solid diagnosis and she accepted him and fell in love with him. Ezra is unlike any MMC I’ve ever read about. Some of his possessive tendencies I was agreeable with, especially when it came to her safety. Good read. I’m ready for Emmett story and I hope the FMC is who I think it is.
Anyways I’m loving this bloodline series, I really hope we get Emmets story next but the way Lucas made that scene at the end who knows lol
Back to the man of the hour, Ezra was a beautiful stalker lmao I love the way he protected Ziora and I honestly loved the way she didn’t back down. That man was for sure batshit crazy but hey! It works for them 😂
Just read the book! Start with Nazai if you haven’t.
I really enjoyed this book. This book was a lot better than the first book. Even though I didn’t like the first book as much, it was nice to read the cameos with Nazari and Cashlynn throughout this book. This book showed a well-thought-out storyline that wasn’t just revolving around love. The plot was intriguing/interesting. It was just overall good. I really enjoyed the book a lot. I can’t wait to see the other books in the series.
Ahhhh what! She is most definitely in her bag. This series just keeps getting better and better. This family is a whole mess do you hear me. And I’m so here for every last minute of it. I’m over here like a feen looking for this third book. Like I’ve got to know what’s going to happen. Got my nerves on edge! Sensational job!
Ezra is crazy and crazy about his bumblebee. They way this story unfolded was beautifully written. I enjoyed every single minute of this book. I can't wait for the next installment. Oh and the budding relationship between Inaya and Emmett, its going to be great. I know that will be after Lucas story.
This was sure out there. Didn't care to much for bumblebee, liked her friend the best. But I do love the storyline and I'm hoping this series gets a bit dangerous, especially cause wildfire needs a wake up call or she is going to be a horrible mom.
It’s so much going on in this book but easier to follow. Ezra was super obsessed with bumble bee. Inaya was no better. I loved everything about this book and it was actually quite long.
Wow. When 2 people get together and learn how to accept each other flaws is beautiful and entertaining. This was the best book of Cat and Mouse that I ever had the pleasure of reading. Ezra is my new unhinged book boyfriend ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I’m so excited for this series to unfold! I love the Tavarez brothers! I have a soft spot for Ezra and love him with Ziora - they balance each other out. This was definitely a great follow up to the first book. I cannot wait for the other two books!
Ziora has her hands full with Naya and Ezra crazy self. Cashlynn has not changed at all. I can’t wait for the next read. They are so close to finding out what’s going on.
This is the second book of this dark romance series that Tay is creating & quickly the this family & set of brothers is becoming a favorite of mine. This one right here was right up my alley when it comes to dark romance. I ate this book up & loved it.
