Centuries-old pirate treasure. A deadly Caribbean cartel. And the clock is ticking.
Harvey Bennett was supposed to be on vacation.
A week in the Caribbean with his best friend, Reggie, sounded simple enough—sun, sand, and maybe a little deep-sea diving while Sarah Lindgren, Reggie’s archaeologist girlfriend, attended a conference in San Juan. But when an injured man stumbles into the bar, crying for help, Ben and Reggie are pulled into a mystery that runs centuries deep.
The wreck’s location is no accident. Beneath the turquoise waters lies an infamous pirate smuggling route now controlled by the Syndicate, a modern-day cartel as ruthless as the buccaneers who came before them. Their cargo isn’t just gold—it’s people, weapons, and secrets worth killing to protect.
From the sunken ruins of a Spanish galleon to a fortress island hidden from modern maps, Ben and Reggie must navigate treacherous waters, underground caves, and a deadly enemy that always seems one step ahead.
The deeper they dig, the more they uncover a prize that could rewrite Caribbean history—and a cartel determined to bury it, along with anyone who stands in their way.
Packed with non-stop action, historical intrigue, and the signature banter fans love, The Devil’s Cut is a high-octane Harvey Bennett adventure that will leave you breathless until the final page.

Would be much better without the few continuity issues, typos, and other mistakes, but humans are not perfect! I enjoyed the story, it was excellent but editing errors slow my reading down, and instead of less than one day, I took over a week to complete this one, which I found annoying. Thacker needs better ARC personnel, editor and final readers to check for errors.
The Devil's Cut, the latest Harvey Bennett thriller by Nick Thacker will tie you in knots, keep you struggling to get out, while loving every minute of it. Action coming faster than bullets from an AK47 will turn the pages at a blistering pace.
Nick Thacker can always be counted on for a breath-taking environment, like Puerto Rico, with it's astonishing aquamarine waters and multi-hued sunsets. Unfortunately, he can also be counted on for finding the fly in Paradise.
When Ben and Reggie are finally on their first vacation in decades, Reggie keeps teasing Ben that he can't ever completely relax. Reggie is hang loose and drinking rum drinks while Ben gives him the stink-eye. When Ben finally reaches the closest state to calm, all heck breaks loose.
The Devil's Cut is a fascinating novel about corporate greed versus the mysteries of the past and those who would preserve them. Mixed in with the CSO Team, this thriller checks all of the boxes. Grab yours while you can.
Sarah is lecturing in Puerto Rico and Ben and Reggie come down to a beach resort there to relax. However, behind the scenes lurks a Syndicate who will stop at nothing to achieve their plans. A hurricane has revealed some ancient wrecks amongst the coral and they cannot allow anyone to search for them... Killing the people that do. Unfortunately for them, this is how Ben and Reggie learn about the Syndicate and once they know something is up, they cannot stop investigating.... An entertaining tale full of suspense, action, intrigue, exploration, archeology and history. There is again a discontinuity, which detracts from the enjoyment, though perhaps since this is told in chapters from the perspective of different people, this could be explained by observer bias? A clever ploy or an unintentional error? Either way it us an entertaining read.
When the vacation becomes a job you have no choices!
Great read. Ben Ann Reggie start their well deserved vacation in Puerto Rico on the beach. Drinks and lunch are the go to during the day. Reggie keeps pressuring Ben to go diving but Ben's not interested. Ben and are are having drinks at the Tiki bar when a man rushed up to them to tell them the Black Syndicate is after him. His brother killed recently a told him of some trinkets taken from him as he was shot and killed. Well now it begins to be work. Could not put it down. I kind of get a breather when the story doesn't involve previous bad guys.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nick Thacker does it again! The Devil’s Cut is a perfect storm of Caribbean danger, buried history, and non-stop action. Harvey Bennett and Reggie’s “vacation” turns into a heart-pounding race through pirate-smuggling routes, hidden caves, and a cartel’s deadly grasp. I loved the mix of historical intrigue and modern high stakes it felt like Clive Cussler meets Narcos. The pacing is relentless, the settings are vivid, and the tension never lets up. Easily one of my favorite installments in the series!
Book 18 of Nick Thacker's Harvey Bennett Thrillers, The Devil's Cut sees OCS agents Harvey/'Ben' Bennett and pal Reggie relaxing on holiday, but as usual that doesn't last long.
When an ancient treasure-ship gets in the way of the unscrupulous Syndicate, death is never very far behind.
Join our intrepid have-a-go heroes as they and locals Isla and Manny try to avenge murder and more, in Nick Thacker's The Devil's Cut and cut off the 'snake's head' of evil... it's absolutely unputdownable!
Good book and great characters and plot. But not used to Harvey and Reggie being so reluctant to engage in what needs to be done. I am used to them being more proactive when trouble arises. But in the end, they became the same ole action team as always.
What a thrill ride. Nick Thacker's books seem to get better from one to the next. Reggie has dragged Ben off to a Caribbean vacation when they land smack dab in a conspiracy of appalling proportions.
