Raven Souls MC #4

All That Glitters

Rate this book
Life in a motorcycle club isn’t for everyone, but being a Raven is in my blood.
The only things that matter to me are my brothers and my cut, then she walks into my life and rips up the playbook.
I know I can’t keep her; club girls are for a good time, not a long time, so when the secret she’s been keeping lands at my feet like a bomb, I pull the pin, blowing up everything between us.
The second I watch her walk away, I know I’ve made a mistake, but before I can fix it, she’s gone.
Tracking her down is the easy part; realizing all the love she had for me has turned to hate, not so much. Right now, the closest we’ll get to a white picket fence is her impaling me on one.
I know I hurt her, but I’m not ready to give up on us yet, so I’ll do what any self-respecting biker would do;
I’ll stalk her, kidnap her, and chain her to my bed until she loves me again.
What could possibly go wrong?

Content Bikers are gonna be bikers. If you are looking for a PG read, this book is not for you. Please expect a whole lot of cuss words, foul language, and dirty talk. There is also enough sexcapades and violence to make you question your morals or at the very least, mine.

So, I really liked this one, but it definitely had its issues. Legs was amazing — strong, sharp, and the only one in this whole mess who actually had her head on straight. I loved how she stood her ground and didn’t just melt under Midas’s intensity. She carried the story, honestly.
Midas, though… yeah, no. He had his moments, but he frustrated the life out of me 😭. Too controlling, too reactive, and half the time I just wanted to shake him. His backstory was interesting, but his choices? Questionable at best. The emotional connection between them didn’t always land — mostly because he kept messing it up.
The pacing also jumped around, and a few subplots felt unnecessary. It’s like the story wanted to be five things at once — dark, romantic, tragic, steamy — and not all of it blended perfectly.
Still, the tension and spice were on point, and Legs alone made it worth the read. Midas might’ve annoyed me, but he kept things interesting

I normally like CW’s writing, but this was a big no for me. I was looking forward to this book so much and I did give it 4 stars, but I’m still unsure how I feel. It’s probably more a 3 star read.

Midas emotionally abused Hazel for years. No attempt at a sad back story excuses it. This is not a teen/early 20s boy (not that it’s ok at that age either), but a 30+ year old “man.” It felt like the author tried to excuse his abuse of the heroine by giving him a sad story and ohh now it’s ok cos he now knows to treat her better. Just NO. He is the definition of toxic. What do we teach our daughters? We teach them there is no excuse for abuse and to get away from those people/relationships. There is 100% no excuse for any abuse.

In this series there has been missing the whole brotherhood of an mc. CW’s other MC novels had the brotherhood, but it’s missing here. Honestly, I can’t figure out why they are in a club together. There is nothing gluing these guys together. There is very little laughter or any indication they even like each other much. Hell they are rarely together except at church. Would these guys be constantly misjudging ALL these people (also getting to be a repetitive theme) if they were in a real brotherhood?

I’m also over the misjudging/wronged women theme. Once with Lola was enough. Now it’s Del and will prob repeat. It loses its punch and becomes cliche.

This was supposed to be a romance. Romance gives you warm fuzzy feelings about the couple and makes you want to see the couple make it though. This was emotionally exhausting and not in a good way. There was no humor to try to break up the draining vibe. Honestly, this series has turned too dark with nothing to help pick up good vibes. The Underestimated series had a balance. This series is getting too serious without any happiness in it. I’m hoping the next book lightens things up a bit.

5 ⭐️/3 🌶️

I freaking loved every second of this book. Every time I think I’ve decided which character I dislike in this series, Candice turns everything around and makes me feel guilty for ever doubting them. 😅

Midas was that character this time. The initial dislike I had for him completely vanished as the story unfolded. By the end, I was totally sold!

And Hazel? She’s easily one of my favorite fmc in the entire series. She’s fierce, vulnerable, and so easy to root for.💕

The plot, the writing, the spice, everything just hit perfectly. I couldn’t put it down and now I’m counting down the days until we find out whose story comes next!

Not the best.
Always a guilty pleasure author who can be very cringey but enjoyable. This was too cringe and lazy writing. Hated Midas and legs story going in to it, and just don’t think there was enough grovelling. Quite a few mistakes missed by an editor too.

Legs and Midas’s story is heeeeerrrreee

I’d been waiting for it. I had expectations and wants for what their story would be and wow. Once again, Candice Wright delivered a rollercoaster of emotions on a non-stop ride full of heartbreak and redemption.

I’m really enjoying the Raven Souls MC series and I’ve liked Legs since the first book so finally having her story was great. I was so disappointed at first by Midas but he won me over over time and I completely enjoyed their story.

There’s definitely more to come from this series and I am ready for it all.

This stressed me out so bad. 😭 I loved Legs, and I needed more from Midas because I spent most of the book wishing him away. lol He hurt her over and over AND OVER. I almost DNF'd at 87% because, like the genius she is, the author tricked me, and I thought Midas could never be redeemed after that. BUT things weren't what they seemed. I think we saw the beginning of Midas' turnaround; I just wish there was more growth on page. So I'm choosing to imagine Midas as spending every day for the rest of his life making things up to Legs. I'm very interested in Lil and Del's stories.

This is the 4th book in the series and for me it fell flat. The MMC was too much of a jerk and didn’t redeem himself enough to create a believable story. Spice was maybe a 3🌶️ at the most. I enjoyed the others book in this series much more.

CW is a new to me author and I came to this series brand new without any idea of the characters or the MC. I really enjoyed it. I loved this take on the MC grump falling in love with one of the club girls. I've read so many books with club girls falling for one of the MC men only to be rejected when the MMC finds their one. I kinda loved that Legs gets her own happy ending amid a life filled with uncertainty and transience.

Legs has lived with various MCs since the age of 14. The only constant in her life is a stuffed toy she carries with her. When she joins the Raven Souls she finds a family amid the brothers and other club girls. She starts to put down roots. And in doing so she falls for Midas. He is grumpy and withdrawn. He has so much emotional baggage that he ends up rejecting Legs and splitting their potential happy ending apart.

Not all is as it seems. And I would argue it is well worth staying to finish their story. Midas is truly awful to Legs. He hurts her and in the worst ways emotionally. But the making up and regaining her trust is worth the emotional investment. The relationship that they end up with is MC romance at its best. And their chemistry together is off the charts.

I loved the previous 3 books in this series, this one was a big disappointment. There was no romance, no love only lust and sex and obsession. Midas was a total A$$hole not at all redeemable, he treated Legs like crap. He undressed her without consent, touched her without consent and his only thought was how much he missed plowing into her. Not very loving and romantic in my opinion.
I don't care what his past trauma was like, it doesn't excuse his present behavior. I had no sympathy for him.
Legs was a weak, pathetic doormat. She allowed him to shit all over him and repeatedly put up with it. When she finally got some balls, it didn't last long at all before she was spreading her legs for him again. There was no grovel at all.
They were toxic together and it was not enjoyable to read.
On top of that, there was an excessive amount of pandering to the man hating feminist political rhetoric.🙄🙄
I don't want to read a fantasy and have real world political bullshit shoved in my face, there's enough of that in real life. Reading is for escapism.
I also easily figured out who the stalker was. It was rather predictable.
Since I did not get invested in or liked any of the side characters who will have future books, I'm done reading this series for sure.

Wrecked me!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: club girl
Angst: 😱😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Good god, this was not a light read. Really, I don't even have words. I cried, laughed, and cried again and ended up leaving with a smile on my face and in my heart. Legs was so very relatable in her pain and later, in her forgiveness and triumphs.

After the emotional and compelling story of Hannibal and Lola (previous book), this one was a huge disappointment.

Initially, I was drawn to Legs. Her resilience and optimism, despite growing up in the club scene far too young, made her a character I wanted to root for. She had the makings of a true fighter – someone who could rise above her circumstances and finally recognise her worth. I was eager to see her journey unfold.

But it never happened. Why? Midas. His treatment of Legs was appalling: judgemental, hypocritical, and emotionally cruel. While he freely sleeps with other women, he condemns Legs for doing the same, even though her choices are constrained by survival (it's literally her job), and even though he has the power to change things, he's too much of a weak coward to have the balls to step up and claim her. His actions culminate in a brutal rejection that should have been the catalyst for Legs to reclaim her life. Instead, he forces his way back into her world, and she accepts him with barely a struggle.

By the 60% mark, I was ready to DNF, but I was still holding out hope for a redemptive twist. It never came. Midas remained as entitled and condescending as Havoc (the character I absolutely loathe!), and the similarities between them only made my frustration grow. And when he tells Legs what happened to him as a kid (this is around 90%-ish), I was confused. All I could think was, why didn't he share this before? Why does the reader have no inkling of something darker hiding under the surface? Why does this revelation feel like it had come out of nowhere? I don't know...it almost felt like the author was desperate to redeem him in some way, so this is what she came up with. Maybe that wasn't the intention, but that's how it came across to me.

I genuinely regret reading this. For now, I’ll be re-reading Hannibal’s story and pretending this one never happened.

Since meeting Legs in Princess of Chaos, I have been so anxious to know her story and knew she would be a woman of character and integrity. No matter her history, there was always so much more to her than only being a club piece. When we meet her again in Mercy of Demons, all I hope is for Legs to get her happy ending.
With just about every MC romance Candice has written, there is always one MMC that is just bullheaded beyond sanity, ladies… meet Midas. Stubborn, a jerk, hits below the belt, and doesn’t know how to make his mouth stop the vitriol he spews.
After the hate and hurt, you want these two to make it.
There’s head games, push and pull, give (Legs) and take (Midas).
I wish I could explain why and how their story became a favorite. It might be part nostalgia for Legs and liking her the minute you meet her, her resilience for always the unrequited, the immeasurable strength this woman has after everything she been through, been told, and never being enough.
Once Midas realized “don’t know what you got, till it’s gone” I rooted for every small, big, sentimental gesture he made to earn her love.
Candice this world is one of my favorites. I love them all, thank you for giving Legs the love she deserves and the man who knows her worth and has proven worthy of it.

I was really looking forward to this story. I binge read this in one sitting. I've found that CW's writing is pretty easy to binge in one sitting; it's not really complex and the stories are often relatively short. I found myself skipping pages in this one. Mainly because if you've read the other books (the Raven, Chaos and Carnage) then you've already read what happens with the first 50% of this book.

Seriously. The first 50% of this story is basically rehashing what we've already seen from Legs and Midas, though we get more detail. I honestly wish that she had just picked up where the last book left off.. I almost felt cheated and I felt bored by the time we got to the "present day".

I think that this may be the final story I read by CW. I've read all of the MC stories and at this point I'm starting to grow tired of the formula. Every story is the same: there's a big misunderstanding, all the characters have trauma, the MMC wrongs the FMC, there is never proper groveling, the MMC basically sets the terms of their relationship, and there's always scenes making a big deal about women not being treated right/equally but then the MMC(s) never really change.

This story also sets up two more stories as well... so really this story just feels like an interlude between the last story and the next one. This could have easily been a novella instead. I was looking forward to Citi's story, but I'll probably end up passing. I have no interest in Del or Lil's books.

Another Brilliant Story In The Series!

Absolutely love, love, love this author and this series too. They’re all Dark Romance novels set in a current contemporary version of the USA. It’s a dark and dirty world out there, sadly not in any of the fun ways.

This book features “Legs” one of the Club Bunnies and “Midas” the biker who can’t get her out of his head. Legs is pregnant and Midas knows he can’t be the father because of a brutal case of mumps during his childhood rendered him infertile. He’s angry, bitter and keeps lashing out.

Legs is heartbroken but hopeful, the man she fell for treats her like dirt. It’s time for her to move on, she pregnant it’s something she’s always wanted so she’s moving out away from him and the MC.

The book gives an insight into two tragic backstories as well as opening some eyes about the misogynistic toxicity that’s been normalised in western societies, it’s not just the MC’s.
QUOTE: Legs speaking to Midas,
“If you sleep with ten women, you’d be a stud. If I slept with ten men, I’d be a slut.”

If we’re stuck with stupid Victorian values can we at least go back to having orgasms prescribed by doctors?

If you’re new to this author and are looking for strong FMC’s and loveable alpha holes who learn to correct their mistakes then you’re in for a real treat!

I’ve been waiting for this book to come out so I can see how everything plays out! I was so happy to see Legs not only stand her ground but to get some independence that she needed. Midas has always been a bit of an alphahole, but really aren’t they all (que eye roll cause we love them anyway.) He really took it to a level that I wasn’t expecting and at the same time understood why he was upset. We got to really get both of their histories and they were both equally horrible. I’m not gonna lie I struggled to like Midas for a lot of this book and I also wanted a little more resistance from Legs in some aspects, but the craziness that was happening in this story just did not allow that. This one had a lot of things going on in the background and I love that through all of this we get a couple story lines that honestly sound amazing for the future. We also get some great scene with the characters we love too! I knew how this one was gonna end thankfully because if Candice does anything with extra spice it’s throwing a twist in there that throws me for a loop. I was pretty proud of myself for this one lol. Now I’m left wondering which one is next…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Your next 5 ⭐️ Read!
WOW!!! What a book! What did I just read?? An amazing story with grit, emotion, violence, and a whole lot more. Candice Wright once again destroys you in the first half of her book and slowly pastes the jagged edges back together. I hated and loved this book at the same time due to being dragged through the mud with Legs. I felt her pain and frustration throughout the first half of the book and her hesitancy in the second half. The dynamite intensity surrounding Midas and Legs left me grasping the blanket on my lap and screaming at the top of my lungs, while at other times, silent tears fell freely down my cheeks. Some say that the relationship between Midas and Legs is toxic, but I’ll leave that up to you to decide on your own. I, for one, couldn’t wait to see how their story ended and held on for dear life until the very last page. Candice never disappoints and brings her world to life with all her descriptions of everything that is happening and the raw emotions of everyone in the book. As always, if you’ve never read Candice Wright… What the hell are you waiting for?

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the story of Hazel and Midas. She is a girl who is young and her mom is training her to survive when she is gone. But the way she did it broke my heart for her. She was so young at the time and ends up being a bunny for a MC. Life got hard and complicated quickly for her. Midas is the owner of a pawn shop and the second they see each other you can tell they have an attraction to each other. He just never expected to find her in his clubhouse as one of the new girl brought in after a war so to speak. I am going to go ahead and tell you that this book will put you through the ringer. One minute you as happy as can be and the next your speechless. These are two people that have never really known love in their lives tying their best to find that in each other. However, they do not have a clue as to what any of that means. I don't want to go into the story and tell you more than I have. You need to let it all unfold without knowing what the story really holds. This is a great book. You do not want to miss it.

This is the 4th book in this page turning series and I was hooked from beginning to end on Legs and Midas's story!!

Midas is a member of the Raven Souls MC and owner of a pawn shop. Soon as he meets Legs he's hooked but one small obstacle is that she's a club girl. The connection between them is off the charts electric and undeniable, even when Midas tries to keep her at arms lengths. They do say absence makes the heart grown fonder and when Midas chases her away finally he finally realises he's an idiot and will do what he has to, to win her back!

This book had everything in it, addictive characters that i loved, even though there were many times when i wanted to junk punch Midas for being an idiot! This was raw, gritty and one hell of an emotional rollarcoaster. I was kept on the edge of my seat waiting to see how it would play out and where the threat is coming from. Once Midas and Legs bring their walls down they are perfect for each other, the perfect yin and yang!

I cannot wait to see what is coming next in this series!

I was gifted a copy of this book by the Author and this is my honest opinion

Holy hell, I feel like I need a drink after that ride.

Legs and Midas's story put me through it. I laughed, cried, swooned, raged, swooned again... thought about punching a wall and pretending it was Midas's face, and also stayed on my tiptoes due to the mystery surrounding the plot.

This book is jammed packed and ready to take your breath away at every little turn.

Legs, she is the first club girl in any MC Romance that I didn't just need a book for, I was fiending for it. I needed Legs to have her happy ending some way somehow. Watching her from one series to the next getting moved around and never truly appreciated, it broke my heart. I NEEDED this. But Candice Wright still didn't give her that HEA easily.

From multiple stalkers, catty club girls, the MC's past coming to haunt it once again, and Midas just not ever knowing the right thing to do. The drama and heartbreak wrecked me. But like the good sadist Candice Wright is, after she tore me apart, she put me back together with healing and forgiveness.

But now... what about Lil?

What a wild ride this was! My emotions were put through the wringer with this one. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to like Legs at first, but she quickly became one of my favorite FMCs. She’s been through so much and continues to show incredible strength. No matter how many times life knocks her down, she gets back up and I admire that deeply.

I have really mixed feelings about Midas. Honestly, I hated him for more than half the book. Yes, he has a tortured past, but the way he treated Legs? Absolutely brutal. I don’t think I could have forgiven him for everything, but that’s what makes their connection so powerful. Only she could see through the pain and still find love. That’s what makes them perfect for each other.

If you're looking for a drama filled, heartbreaking, and beautiful story, then look no further. This book will tug at your heartstrings, tear you apart, and then put you back together again.

Candice never fails to leave me emotionally wrecked but in the best possible way.

All that glitters- I think that’s refers to my vision while reading this.

I don’t even know where to start. I had to stop and start this book so many times because I just couldn’t see from crying. From chapter one straight through the the last page of the epilogue.

While this contained a bigger portion of what we’ve seen in the previous characters books than we are used to, it was necessary in most spots to remind you of where they were and how it tied in for Midas and legs in their story.

The trigger warnings are definitely there for a reason. They made the emotional rollercoaster that much more intense for this book than any of the others for me.

While I have a lot of disappointment in some of these characters choices/actions, my rating does not reflect that. Wright’s words and pleasing were so powerful that every page flip had me reeling. That is her super power, even if her characters tick me off.

I have so many questions I need answers for with Powers, Kruger, Lil & Del. Looking forward to getting them!

Great book, amazing plot, fantastic characters.

The overall book was pretty great, I liked the plot and characters.
A few things that were a miss for me was the way the plot developed slowly, and then all of a sudden everything happened within a few pages. That was way too fast, and should’ve been drawn out so you had a chance to catch up.
Also the writing, there were a lot of small grammatical errors and mistakes, which honestly shouldn’t have been there🤷🏽‍♀️

But the book was great, and sweet, frustrating, heartbreaking and heartwarming❤️‍🩹❤️everything a good book should be, and I can’t wait for the next installment in this series!!

Hazel ”Legs”, was such an amazing and ridiculously strong character! God I loved her, and I really hope we get to see her as a mom and a wife🥹
Midas was a piece of work, he definitely had a lot of flaws, but he did love Hazel, although he should’ve groveled a LOT more…

The whole plot line with Kiki was kind of wack, and didn’t feel all that thought through… and as I said, it was really rushed in the end with the grenade, Del and everything

Midas is the definition of a broken hero 😍

It’s been a minute since I’ve visited Candice’s Raven Souls world, and it didn’t even take a minute for me to be obsessed once I dove right in, which for the record was late last night. I read this one in less than a day, I could not put it down.

Legs (Hazel) and Midas have both had tragic lives, both have had to endure things no one should ever have to endure, and where their traumas brought them together it’s is also the main thing that tries to keep them apart.

This is an emotional story that has some twists and turns I know I wasn’t expecting, and with Candice’s twisted sense we get an HEA only to be left with more questions about other side characters. Questions like: When is the next book?? ☺️

Listen, this isn’t going to be for everyone, it’s not rainbows and unicorns, it’s dark, it’s gritty and it’s everything I expect from Candice and I can’t wait for more!

Once again, Candice Wright has delivered an absolutely phenomenal story. Legs’ journey was raw and painful at times, yet she shone through as a true fighter — fierce, vulnerable, strong, and endlessly warm-hearted. Her resilience and spirit made her an unforgettable heroine.

Midas, on the other hand, tested my patience more than once. His behavior over the years was downright obnoxious, and I couldn’t help but feel he should have groveled a bit more before earning forgiveness. Still, his growth and the emotional payoff made the story deeply satisfying.

The writing was flawless — perfectly balanced between heartfelt emotion and sizzling tension. The plot was captivating, the characters multidimensional, and the spice hit exactly right. I devoured every page and simply couldn’t put it down.

That beautiful HEA left me smiling long after I finished the last chapter, and now I’m already counting the days until we find out whose story comes next.
