I was kindly sent a free copy of this book by the publishers in exchange for an honest review. It is currently available in e-book format but not due to be published physically until May 12th. This is very insightful and there are lots of useful exercises drawing on the authors own work practises and personal success. It took me a while to read it as ironically I was suffering weekly IBS flares whilst reading this and didn’t feel like focusing on it mid attack. The way that Dr Sula has interwoven her own personal experiences with her chronic UTI attacks and how she herself was not listened to by doctors initially really spoke to me and also made me feel seen. Not only has the author made a solid career in health psychology, she is sharing her wisdom through this book because she actually “gets it”. That’s why the exercises and advice in this book might well just work for you. I sincerely hope this helps other readers who are currently suffering. I’m not saying my IBS has been magically fixed by reading this, but I certainly understand the mental spirals that could be going on behind the scenes a heck of a lot more.
