Living Ritual

A guide to weaving sacred moments into daily life through accessible rituals from beloved author and spiritual teacher Tracee Stanley.

This program is read by the author.

In challenging times, we crave grounded-ness and connection but find ourselves rushing through our days or frozen with anxiety. Respected spiritual teacher Tracee Stanley says the answer to inhabiting our lives more fully is ritual. In Living Ritual, Stanley reorients our attention to what we do, how we do it, and why to deepen our relationship with ourselves and commit to living purposefully. Created specifically for householders—people who have daily roles and responsibilities and can’t devote hours each day to spiritual practice—this book doesn’t require you to take a retreat from your life but instead encourages you to find moments of meaning in your daily living.

“Ritual is about the Truth that life isn’t perfect,” explains Stanley. “Honoring ourselves in every season and sitting at the altar of life through every cycle of birth, death, and rebirth is important.” Through this book, Stanley helps us discover and create rituals, including short micro-rituals that can carry us through our days, creating space for sacred habits that infuse the ordinary with meaning and purpose.

Inspired by Hindu philosophy of the four aims of life, Living Ritual is divided into four Rituals of Support, Relationships, Purpose, and Spirit. With each section, Stanley creates a bridge between the mundane and the sacred, allowing our daily actions to be filled with presence and intention.

This is an inspiring book filled with blueprints and adaptable ideas for helping turn the everyday acts of living into something special and uniquely your own. If you are looking for a book that will help you find quiet moments of ritual in your life, this is a book that can connect you with grounding rituals that bring balance, order, and a deliberate cadence to your hurried modern life.

I also deeply appreciated how effortlessly navigable this book was. While the Table of Contents makes it east to locate a broad theme Or specific practice, the books design almost begs for you to simply flip through its pages. It has a welcoming, fluid quality that invites serendipitous discovery. On many days, I've allowed my hands to open to a random chapter, trusting whatever catches my eye to be something new to explore. It almost feels as if the moment itself guides me toward what my sound needed to experience.

Because of this, these aren't rigid rules to follow, but rather a fluid entry point. I found myself naturally customizing the practices Started key showcased, seamlessly weaving them into my own daily rythum until that became decide my the my own. The insightful promote at the end of each chapter have become a part of my own journaling practice inviting self reflection.

I highly recommend this book, not just for the grand rituals I had expected to find, but for the 'Micro-Rituals'. These small, intentional pauses keeps me centered, a cheering me to who I am and what I value. In a world that constantly pressures is to shift and conform, these tiny pockets of positivity have become a sanctuary, helping me stay true to myself.

Thank you to the publisher and Goodreads Giveaway for connecting me with this book. The opinions and experiences shared here are all my own

Living Ritual: Infuse Each Day with Purpose and Spirit 🌙✨🌿

4 stars

Thank you to St. Martin's Press for the gifted copy 💛📖

I really appreciated the heart of this book. Living Ritual is not asking you to disappear into the mountains for six months, wake up at 4 a.m., or suddenly become a perfectly enlightened person with endless free time. It feels grounded in real life, for people with responsibilities, jobs, families, stress, dishes in the sink, and minds that sometimes refuse to slow down. 🕯️

The biggest takeaway for me was the reminder that rituals do not have to be grand to be meaningful. There is something comforting about the idea that small moments can become sacred too. A morning cup of tea, stepping outside for fresh air, pausing to breathe, creating intention in ordinary routines. 🌸💫

Things I loved:
• 🌿 The focus on accessible, everyday rituals
• ✨ The emphasis on intention over perfection
• 🧘 The gentle reminder to slow down and be present
• 💛 The way spirituality is woven into daily life instead of feeling separate from it
• 🌙 The overall tone felt calming and thoughtful

Things that kept it from being a full five stars for me:
• 📖 Some sections felt repetitive in places
• 💭 Certain ideas felt stronger emotionally than they did practically
• 🕯️ I occasionally wanted a little more depth or specificity in some exercises

Overall, this felt less like a strict self-help guide and more like an invitation. It is about paying attention, honoring seasons of life, and creating little anchors of meaning in a world that constantly wants us rushing toward the next thing.

A peaceful, reflective read that reminds you that purpose does not always arrive in big life-changing moments. Sometimes it is sitting quietly with yourself and simply noticing that you are here. 🌙✨

Living Ritual should be essential reading. In a timeline where everyone and everything is fighting for the currency of your attention, give it to this. It was the reminder I needed that life itself is the ritual. Tracee Stanley poetically shares how creating a meaningful ritual does not have to be an “either/or” choice but instead “both/and”, meeting you wherever you are in your stage of life.

Living Ritual is full of micro rituals (short practices) that are meant to be digestible no matter how busy you are, but deliberately for those in the “householder” stage which she describes as “those of us who also have worldly responsibilities, like raising young children, maintaining a home, working a full-time job, or caregiving for an elderly parent”.

It has actionable practices (breathwork, self-inquiry, lists, journaling, etc) in abundance, scalable depending on how much time you choose to devote to your own rituals. As with her other published work, this also includes access to audio recordings in Tracee’s own melodious voice for guidance.

If you’ve felt like you need to wait for the perfect time, let this help you see that the perfect time is the moment you are in. You don’t need a week long reset, or a trip to Bali (but if you go, take this with you!)

This is a bountiful resource to help take back ownership of your attention and with beautiful illustrations by Maggie Eileen it will be a delight to come back to again and again.

Endlessly grateful to Tracee Stanley for her wisdom, along with Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. (Clearly I am still cultivating patience).

I listened to this as an audiobook, and the timing was done perfectly to allow you to incorporate the author’s suggestions into your routine. I think a nice addition would be to incorporate some kind of relaxing background noise rather than just silence.

That being said, I think this book is great for anyone looking to add more balance to their life. It offers multiple daily rituals that are easy to incorporate into your routine.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this ARC!

So many great rituals! Just reading this book feels soothing. This is a book that needs to be savored not read hurriedly. Give yourself time to savor it. I really appreciate the links to audio of some of the rituals. The yoga nidra are my favorite! I highly recommend.
