Will the dragon and healer ever be able to be together?

While healing a creature in the woods, Claire is taken hostage by The Brotherhood. They take her to their stronghold and force her to heal a dragon. Not just any dragon, one Claire recognizes as having been the love of her life. Over and over again, these two find each other, only to be torn apart and they end up going through the cycle again and again. This is truly a beautiful story of true love. The writing style of the Ravan Tempest is perfect for this story and just flows from one scene to the next. I found myself caught up in the story and really hoping these two could manage to escape the cycle.

I picked this book up at 9 p.m. on a Tuesday. I finished it at 3 a.m., sitting on my kitchen floor because I had forgotten to move. Claire just wanted to help a wounded creature in the woods. What destroyed me was the reincarnation thread the idea that these two souls have found each other across multiple lifetimes, only to be torn apart every single time. Every past-life vision hit like a freight train. By the time the final choice arrived immortality or love I was a wreck. Ravan Tempest did not come to play. She takes two well-worn tropes fated mates and reincarnation and layers them with a moral complexity that elevates the whole story. Claire's dilemma is not simply "love vs. duty." It is a question of what love is actually worth when it costs you your very nature. Giving up immortality is not just a romantic sacrifice; it is an identity sacrifice. And Kade, for all his menace, is written with enough interiority that you understand his centuries of suffering without ever excusing the darkness it created. The gryphon companion was an unexpected emotional anchor. A beautifully written start to a series.

This book was such a fun escape! From the very beginning, the idea of Santa and Sandra trying to be “normal” tourists had me hooked, because you just know it’s not going to end well. The hotel takeover plot kept things lively, and I loved the way the author wove in all the funny little mishaps that only Santa could cause.

Even though it’s laugh-out-loud funny, the writing also has warmth, which is why it works so well. Santa isn’t a caricature he’s lovable, clumsy, and well-meaning, which makes the chaos all the better. Sandra’s determination for peace added another layer of comedy.
