The Silent Island is a fabulous follow up to The Wicked Ship, the first book in this series.
Cori, along with her friends Tarn and Jem are continuing the quest to find the remaining items in the Oceanforged Armour.
In Jems boat Lucky, they set off to firstly find the Loyalists, who they are hoping will aid them in their search. When Cori discovers that she has limited time to find the remaining pieces of the armour she wonders if she is fit to be the Champion that Aquinta needs.
Heading to the mysterious island of Mutemount, Cori and her friends find the island is protected by vicious sea creatures. How will they ever be able to make land and look for the next piece of armour? And where are the inhabitants of this island?
Full of adventure and trying circumstances, the friends are pushed to their limits and find that they may not all have the same goals.
I loved how the story had a dilemma that Cori and her friends worked through and that they all learnt lessons that will only strengthen their friendship.

Loving this series by Amelia Mellor. Each book takes Cori to a location in Aquinta, where she hopes to find a piece of the Oceanforged Armour. In book 2, she travels with her friends Tarn and Jen to Mutemount where she meets the Mutemountists and the dreaded leviathan monsters. Great upper Primary novel filled with adventure and mystery.

I've been reading this series with my son, and there were many nights where he begged me to let him stay up late to read one more chapter. We loved The Silent Island even more than The Wicked Ship and cannot wait for the next book.
