Philip Prowse, author of the Nick Hellyer espionage series, lived and worked overseas for over a decade including periods in Egypt where Hellyer’s Trip takes place against the background of the 1967 Six Day War, Portugal whose 1974 Carnation Revolution and guerrilla war in Mozambique feature in Hellyer’s Coup, and Greece where the fall of the military junta and the 1974 invasion of Cyprus provide the setting for Hellyer’s Line.

Moving into an unknown country with an alien language and culture, ways of thinking and perspectives on life parallels that of the secret agent’s struggle to swim unobserved in perilous waters. Through the series we follow Nick Hellyer’s development from reluctant accidental academic spy to trained hardened professional. But his depth of experience has been gained at the cost of traumatic incidents which have increased his vulnerability and undermined his self-confidence.

We experience events from Nick’s point of view, knowing and seeing only what he does as he hurtles towards his destiny. We are privy to his thoughts and self-doubt, exhilaration and despair, delirium and delight. We interpret this evidence in our own way and reach our own conclusions because like him we want to know how it will all end.

Reading a fast-moving Hellyer novel will immerse you in a story where accurate historical fact and plausible fiction meld, where with Nick as guide you may uncover fresh truths about the world and even yourself.

Listening to the masterly narration on the top quality audiobooks will bring the characters and action to vivid life.

I can't stand reading this book and listening to the audio anymore. The sacrifices I have to do to learning English. This is the fourth time that I reread this book and listen to the CD! And I don't even liked the story. This a retold version for people who are learning English. I want to read a "real" adult book in English.

The story L.A Movie by Philips Prowse talks about an actor who has private detective to investigate who makes a death threats against a female actor. I enjoyed reading the story because it let me imagine what will happen. The best part of the story was at the beginning of the story because I was curious to know what’s going to happen next. I recommend the book for those who like to read adventure books.

This is outrageous!

I haven't seen this man get paid once in his adult life.
The only time he had a decent amount of money was from a bet. And here I thought he'd get his breakthrough in this book but no. Lenny is a walking L. I mean he's so good at his job, but broke or cheap people seek him out.

And what's wrong with that Gale pos? He saved her life many times and she gave him nothing. She seems to think a kiss on the cheek is a good enough payment. Also he mf left her house like he's so used to not get any money out of job. Like it's customary to get cheated out of it.

He chose boxing over his ex btw. Tells everything you need to know about the guy really. Maybe he isn't in it for the money, but just for the thrill of it. He's an adrenaline addict who refuses to settle down and put his risky job/hobby before his partners.

And to expect straightforwardness from his clientele is like expecting Israel to stop lying. Useless.

At the beginning it is fast to read but then is a little bit boring, confusing. The story is not so good, is complicated due to that there are so many characters and it is not well written: describes so much things that aren't important, repites other things, it doesn't make you understand everything... The end is weird also, you have to join all in your own head and suppose things for understanding everything that happened and ends suddenly, like many other parts in the book, so quickly changes all. Not so bad for 1 star but not good enough for 3 obviously.

This story is about an actor who has private detective to investigate who is blackmailing her. I like in this book the details that let me imagine the story. Also, it has a lot of events that did not let me feel bored. I recommend this book to those who like reading adventure books.

It's like "Bristol Murder" (that i have read few weeks ago) a very short book to learn intermediate English in my case.

Its little more longer than "Bristol Murder" and in my case i think that the plot its better and is more enjoyable to read this book.

But again, the characters are very simple, there are some situations that are resolved very fast and this make less interesting the reading.

I would give it a 5,5/10.

This is the second time to read Lenney Samuel's story. This book is good because there are lots of explanations about things involved with movies.

It was an okay book. It wasn't special, but it wasn't a cliche. Overall i think a 3/5 is enough.
