Fox Tatum’s best friend ditched Manhattan for Bumf*ckville almost a year ago.
Why?
Love.
Gag!
Now the happy couple are expecting, and Fox has agreed to a six-week stint in Satan’s Butthole to help the new parents.
The problem? This backwards town is full of 10th gen hillbillies, kissing cousins—probably—and one maddeningly hot fighter with a permanent scowl and zero chill. Worse? He seems to think he has a massive claim on the bun in her best friend’s oven.
No. Not like that. He’s not the daddy. But his twin brother is. Now Chris thinks his blood connection makes him more important than he is.
he’s not.
Christian wants her gone yesterday. Fox has no intention of leaving. And if it’s a war he wants, she’s not afraid to throw the first punch—figuratively or literally.
She knows exactly how to send the uptight grump insane, and besides ‘baby-watch’, there’s nothing else to do out in the middle of nowhere.
Tap gloves, Christian Watkins. You’ve met your match.
Jump into this spicy, small-town, grumpy-sunshine, standalone romance between an undiagnosed autistic fighter, and a heroine who gets off on hiding his favorite forks, making noise, and creating scenes.

Truthfully, Chris was kinda annoying to start with. But after some time you begin to understand him, and when I got to that point, I didn’t want to put this book down. When I say- prepare to feel ALL the feels- with this one, it’s not an overreaction! I was sucked into this book and FELT everything! Such a great read!
I loved Chris ever since we met him in book 1 and now i love him even more! So grumpy and loves predictability and having a set plan. Who knew he had such a filthy mouth!?! 🥵🫠 Loved Fox and the absolute queen that she was and how she made it a point to get Chris out of his comfort zone. They were so alike with their traumas that it made sense they irritated the hell out of each other. It was so great to see Tommy, Alana, and Franky again and get a glimpse into their lives as a family. For Alana and Tommy to see so clearly that Fox and Chris had something going on was 🤌🏻. Emilia really had me in my feels during the second half of this book and the ending was truly perfect. ❤️
I was lucky enough to be given an ARC for this book and once again, I was so incredibly grateful for it! The book was amazing! Emilia’s writing is so real that even her fictional worlds are crazy believable and her characters feel like real people that you wish were your own friends. I also love the way her worlds mingle and we still get to see glimpses of our favorite characters from past books! That being said, this was another excellently written book that was well paced and didn’t feel at all rushed or like there was any extra fluff added to make it longer. I couldn’t wait for Chris’s story and I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest! Chris has made his way into my heart and easily taken a podium spot in the all time favorite MMCs category. Thank you again Emilia Finn for sharing your wonderful talent with the world!
3.5⭐️ I liked it, but I didn’t love it. I love the humor that Emilia always throws into her books, the found families, the cameos from the Kincaids. The spice was a tad much for me😅 not hating, just not for me.
Buuuuut… I had a reallllllly hard time connecting with the FMC, Fox, in this one. And just their love story in general. I felt like there weren’t any “deep” conversation between Fox and Christian. There were deep conversations between Christian and Tommy, and Fox and Alana, but not really any between the two who the whole story was about. It was mainly just sex and seduction🤷🏻♀️
I probably would have just stuck with a solid three stars but the last 20% was the best part imo, so it added the .5 for my rating. Overall, not a bad book, just not my favorite by Emilia.
Receiving an ARC of an Emilia Finn book is a dream.
Tommy and Alanna are happy in Plainview. Fox comes to town to help out for 6 weeks. Fox is such a sassy millennial and Christian is a neuro-spicy fighter. Christian is immediately ready to argue with Fox - she’s got backbone and confidence, he’s bossy and into his routine. They realize maybe there is chemistry to experience while she’s in town - however, there is a hard end date. Trying to figure out how it’d all play out was so good.
I just finished and cried. I honestly loved this story so much.
I had the opportunity to read this book as an ARC and wowza. Chris Watkins is absolutely filthy is the best way! The banter between Chris and Fox is top tier and the world building that’s continued from other books in Emilia’s catalog are such fun Easter eggs! Extra love for representing our neurodivergent friends and how we all deserve to feel and be loved in our own ways and needs. 10/10. Bravo Emilia.
Crazy in Love is book 2 of the new Love and War series. It is a standalone, but the first book (Tell Me You Love Me) introduces you to the world of the identical twin Watkins brothers, Tommy and Christian.
Let me first start by saying Emilia has knocked it out of the park once again. Crazy in Love is a spicy (🥵🔥), enemies-to-lovers, with a HEA. Christian is a very intense, structured, neurospicy guy with a lot of baggage. Fox is loud, brash, and everything that makes him uncomfortable. She has her own troubled past as well.
What starts out as a contentious back-and-forth full of insults and picking at each other quickly turns into a hot (but sneaky/secret) casual fling that develops into something much more. No spoilers, but Emilia is always good for a satisfying end to a story.
Not since Jon in Emilia's original Rolling On series, have I loved a deeply troubled MMC with such a tender heart, but Christian Watkins has made the list. Fox was a force of nature, and together, they get everything they deserve.
Safe to say, I very much "Amo'd" Crazy in Love, and think you will too!
“It doesn’t have to be easy. But it’ll be worth it.”
Crazy in Love is another knockout for Emilia Finn! In this romance you can expect: sports (MMA) romance, grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, secret relationship, small town, a grand love declaration, and a no filter FMC and an (undiagnosed) autistic MMC. The way these familiar tropes were masterfully woven together kept me beyond charmed. The characters truly shine in this one too and were my favorite part of the book. If you’re an OG Emilia Finn fan, there’s a Rollers/Stacked Deck crossover that had me a little giddy with excitement.
Tommy came first in this series, and I thought that there was no way that Chris could measure up in the book boyfriend battle. They go toe to toe in this one and I’m not even sure who comes out as the champ of my heart. I can say that I freaking love Christian Watkins. Chris is a bit of a dichotomy. He’s sweet and sour, hot and cold, intensity and lazy days. He likes order, rules, routine, normalcy and control. He loves hard and feels in a big way. The world has been unkind to Chris, but he is such a complex and endearing character. Gah! I just want to hug him and mother him myself.
Fox is a little harder for me to swallow at first. She arrives on the scene with a bad attitude, harsh words, and a major chip on her shoulder. She picks at and messes with Chris and while she is purportedly trying to push him out of his comfort zone for his own growth and good, she comes across as mean spirited and toxic. BUT… she is also a strong, independent, fun woman who loves Alana and Franky with her whole heart and without reservation. Fox was a sort of walking contradiction too, but her character is written and developed well (as are all the other characters) and I can honestly say that I loved her by the end.
I’ve already mentioned the crossover, but we also get to catch up with Tommy, Alana, Franky, Ollie, and Eliza in this one. These beloved supporting characters are much more than just filler and I’m invested in them and their stories too. They add depth and complexity to the story without overshadowing Fox and Chris.
The er, um… “heat” in this story is page meltingly good and also very plentiful and varied. It’s not all gratuitous though. Chris’ control is pret-ty hawt in this context and it reveals a different aspect of both his and Fox’s personality. These scenes also change how Fox and Chris see each other which deepens their connection. The steam is also quite drawn out but not in a bad way. I feel that these scenes complement the story instead of overwhelming it. Still, if this is not your thing, reader beware.
There is plenty of comedy to be had in this book. Emilia Finn’s brand of humor is right up my alley and I chuckled my way through a lot of the pages. This story is also filled with heavy moments and tears so read with care. The backstories of the characters can be hard to swallow but the emotional depth in this one makes the weightier moments worth it.
Don’t tap out on this one or you’ll miss a well written and meaningful story that explores love, acceptance, and personal growth. These characters, this book, and this series have me in a chokehold and I’ll be anxiously awaiting Ollie’s story.
Crazy in Love is book two in the Love and War series and is the story of Christian and Fox. This is a close proximity, small town, found family, frenemies to lovers, secret relationship romance.
Fox is a city girl, has been all her life but when her best friend Alana moves to Plainville, Fox lets her go to be with the family she had lost when a horrific event drove her away a decade earlier. When Alana gets pregnant and is ready to deliver, Fox goes to help her with her store, her son and the new baby but there is one person who has made it abundantly clear that her help is unneeded or wanted, Christian, Alana's brother-in-law
Chris has been a part of Alana's life since they were kids and does not need her loud, attention stealing friend to come and help after Alana has the baby. He can handle everything she needs and her presence will only mess with his carefully constructed life and routine. As baby watch continues, Fox and Chris bicker and Fox pushes all of Chris' buttons to make him react and uncomfortable but is there more to their dynamic than fighting for Alana's attention?
Emilia really knocked this book out of the park! The way she represented Chris and Franky's autism and anxiety was so well done and explained in a way for everyone to understand. While Fox pushed both Chris and Franky to explore the boundaries of anxiety, she was always conscious of how far to push without hurting them. The childhood trauma that caused Fox and Chris' lack of communication was palpable and while the reason was valid, the lack of discussion was realistic. I enjoyed the way this book made you feel the emotions and the love everyone had for one another and then entire cast of characters were well written and funny.
If you enjoy a good romance with great banter, hot AF spicy scenes with great representation of autism and anxiety then this is the perfect book. Add into that the wonderful family dynamic and learning to find yourself before you can be happy with others then you have found your next book.
I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Gotta say, I started off disliking Fox. Having 2 children on the spectrum, her treatment of both Chris and Franky got on my nerves. Pushing autistic people out of their comfort zone can be a horrible experience for them, and even with Chris telling her how painful his childhood was, she didn’t care, and was, frankly, a bitch to him. And while this behavior lightened up significantly as the story went on, her lack of compassion and understanding (I dislike her form of tough love), really irked me.
But! Neither Chris nor Franky told her to knock it off, nor did anyone else, so this is obviously my own bias speaking here.
The shower scene is so hot, so intense!, I felt breathless through most of it, and had to take a break from reading and go for a walk afterwards.
This book is so full of emotions! I sobbed during the scene with Cliff in the ring. Chris is such a tortured soul, and I just want to give him a hug.
The scene in the NY office with Booker and Amedeo was amazing, and I cackled at Amedeo freaking out about “ti amo”.
The side characters are what take this book from 4 stars to 5 (Fox irritates me through enough of the book to lose one star), and Alana deserves a star all on her own for verbally kicking Fox’s bum.
I’ve read everything Emilia Finn has written, and I have yet to find a story that I don’t love. This is another triumph for her, and I highly recommend it to everyone. (And, while it is a standalone, you really need to read all her other books to get the full impact of the side characters)
I received an arc of this book; the opinions are entirely my own.
𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐳𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 is the 2nd book in the new Love and War series by Emilia Finn, featuring a must-read grumpy/sunshine romance for Chris and Fox that brings tons of feels, plenty of sass, and 𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙃𝙀𝘼𝙏!!😍🔥🫠 I loved Chris in the first book, and his enigmatic, neurospicy qualities called to me in the best ways. I was so excited to peel back his layers this time, but boy was I in for a shock! I did not have Chris being such a filthy-mouthed, possessive alpha on my bingo card, but I enjoyed every pulse-pounding moment!!😅 Fox had me laughing with the way she could irritate him and attract him at the same time. I loved the dichotomy of her feisty side and her vulnerability. All four of the adults in this group have similar insecurities for different reasons, and I just loved the different bonds and found family vibes. Whether it’s the twin brothers who’ve always been together, or Fox and Alana, the ultimate besties, all of whom love little Franky beyond reason. Franky continued to steal my heart, as I weathered the emotional roller coaster that this amazing story took me on! Despite their past traumas and hurts, these characters came out the other side surprisingly strong. Whether I was laughing, crying, blushing, or cheering the appearance of old friends, I loved Chris and Fox’s journey, and I can’t wait for Dr. Ollie to rip my heart out next!
I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶️🌶🌶️
Fox Tatum came to small-town Nowheresville to help her best friend with a new baby. Instead, she got stuck babysitting a six-foot-two grump with abs you could do laundry on and a resting scowl that could curdle milk. Chris Watkins fights for a living, but his real sport? Being as uptight and bossy as humanly possible.
The thing is… Chris doesn’t do people the way everyone else does. He’s precise. Direct. Zero small talk, zero sugar-coating. Fox? She’s the human embodiment of glitter in his carefully organized sock drawer. And she lives for it. She pokes, prods, and flirts like it’s her full-time job, just to watch his jaw clench and his ears turn pink.
Their banter? Olympic-level. Every conversation feels like foreplay with a punchline. And when the tension finally snaps? Whew. Let’s just say there’s enough heat in those scenes to melt the ice in Chris’s veins…assuming Fox hasn’t already done it with her mouth.
But it’s not all sweat and sass. Somewhere between the verbal sparring and the “accidental” and then “purposeful”touches, these two start learning each other’s rhythms. Chris lets her in, Fox stands her ground, and the result is a love story that’s just as heart-squeezing as it is Kindle-melting.
Final verdict: If you like your enemies-to-lovers with steamy training sessions, ridiculous sexual tension, and the kind of banter that makes you snort-laugh in public, tap in! This book’s coming for your heart and your hormones.
As much as I loved Tommy and Alana's story, Crazy In Love just blew Tell Me You Love Me out of the water!!
I have no words for Christian. He understands his quirks, he pushes himself way outside his comfort zone for those he loves, and he does it without complaint and without hesitation, because he is the person they can count on.
Fox, in some ways, is the same as Christian. She will do anything for those she loves, but she doesn't do it quietly. She's the noisemaker to get things done whereas Christian is in the background doing the work.
They both get the same end result, but in their own unique ways.
I loved them both and there were so many scenes where I cried. I don't want to give any spoilers but, my standout scenes were:
*the jumper for the hospital *leaving the hospital *the dinner *the party *the office hallway
There were so many more but these are the ones that stood out
I love Christian's character more than I can say, and the relationship between him and Franky is so pure, I like to think that they're teaching each other to navigate the world. I think this is a story that i'll not only read again, but will have memories of it pop up randomly when I see something that relates.
Holy unexpected hot twin! Christian Watkins was a surprise that I didn’t see coming at all. A good surprise. A surprise that had me widening my eyes, fanning myself, & saying “Oh WOW, Christian!” He’s the meticulous brother with autistic tendencies, but when it comes to Fox Tatum, she’s challenging his boundaries at every turn. Fox is determined to break the monotony of Christian’s life. She’s breaking down his comfort walls & testing him at every turn. Their bickering makes their world go around. But he’s also the infuriating man who is turning her life on its head & making her want to stay in Plainview beyond her six week plans. I didn’t think that Christian could outdo the swoon of his twin brother, Tommy, but…I do believe he did it. His swoon was on a different level. He’s quirky, spicy, dirty, and completely dedicated to the cause of ensuring Fox’s pleasure. But what happens when the six week stint is up? What happens when the man who has staked claim to almost every aspect of her time in Plainview is no longer just a call away? I loooooved every aspect of this second installment in the Love & War series, & loved seeing more of Franky. I literally cannot wait for the next installment.
Wow! Emilia has done it again! I just love her stories so much! Bringing us back to a small town and introducing us to a new generation of fighters! With some cameo appearances none the less! I absolutely loved Chris and Fox’s story! I laughed and cried so much with this book. And the spice was just wow!!!’ So much of it. But super hot! I love how she dives into autism and how detailed she is. I loved Franky in Love and War and seeing Christian and reading about him is like Seeing what grown up Franky will be like. Alana and Fox had such a great friendship that we got to explore more in this book and get a little more background story on their traumas and how they helped each other through it all. Both Fox and Chris were so selfless wanting what was best for each other not realizing that they wanted each other. The love declarations from both was just so swoon worthy! I LOVED this book so much and can’t wait to read the next one! Honestly, I would have finished this in 2 days if not for work and life and kids! I could have seriously sat all day and just read this! I couldn’t put it down. Emilia, you are a goddess ! Thank you for sharing your stories with us. And letting us in on all these characters!

I really enjoyed Crazy In Love. The plot, main and secondary characters were great. Fox and Chris had amazing chemistry and i loved their bickering and how they poked at one another. Fox’s methods might have been a bit different but i actually think it was good when she pushed Christian a little bit out of his comfort zone and i agreed with what she said about how she did it with Franky. Chris just allowing Fox to be herself and accepting her personality and traits even if it was hard on him at times was good, they found a balance that worked for both of them. I loved seeing how they both had such a different but similar relationship with Alana and how she’d go to bat for both of them. Alana’s words to Fox when she talked to her about Chris and her being together were so beautiful and so well put. You could see how highly she thought of her friend. I loved the relationship that Franky had with both his Aunty Fox and Uncle Chris. Loved getting to meet little Hazel. I always love the brotherly scenes between the Watkins boys and i don’t think that will ever change. I liked finding out more about Fox’s past and was a bit worried with how Alana was dealing with Fox at the end but i think it was exactly what Fox needed to hear. I can’t wait for Ollie’s book!
I’ve been hooked on this series since Tommy and Alina’s book, and I’ve had a soft spot for Chris ever since he first appeared. So getting to read his story? I was beyond excited—and it completely lived up to everything I hoped for. Chris and Fox are total opposites, and their chemistry is absolutely electric. What I loved most was how real Chris felt—his uniqueness and the depth of his character really shine through in this book. And Fox? She’s a fiery, no-nonsense, hilarious force from the very first page, and somehow still so endearing. Watching the two of them open up, challenge each other, and grow together made their story feel so authentic and heartfelt. Emilia always creates worlds that feel like home, and this one was no different. I loved continuing to see Tommy and Alina’s life unfold—it felt like catching up with old friends and made their story feel even more complete. But what I really loved was how much Frankie we got! The bond between him and Chris, but also him and Fox was such a highlight for me. And of course, seeing the Rollers again was incredible.
I read this book in one sitting—I genuinely couldn’t put it down. It made me laugh, swoon, and even tear up a little. If you’ve loved the series so far, this book is going to blow you away. There is always so much humor and banter in Emilia’s books, but also incredible stories that hold so much depth. I already can't wait to see where Emilia takes us next!
This was the second story in the Love and War series. In the first book, we got up close and personal with Tommy Watkins and Alana Page. I loved their story and couldn’t get enough of them.
Chris is Tommy’s twin brother and Fox is Alana’s best friend. This is an enemies to lovers trope where Fox and Chris are polar opposites and don’t get along initially. Chris is neurodivergent and thrives on routine and schedules in his life. Fox is loud and brash and all about pushing people outside their comfort zone. They are like oil and water and seemingly too different to get along peacefully.
But as the story reveals, this couple has hot chemistry and some of the spiciest scenes together. We get to learn that Fox and Chris are alike in other ways too - the way they love and support those who they consider family. Their methods might be different but the feelings are the same.
Lovely journey of discovery for Fox and Chris and for us as readers. This was a standalone in a series and it was good to catch glimpses of our favorite couple, Tommy and Alana, in this story too. And young Franky is still adorable and a scene stealer. Wonderful story with a neurodiverse friendly theme!
Emilia Finn delivers another addictive story in Crazy in Love, blending steam, emotion, and heart in a way that kept us turning the pages late into the night. One of the most powerful parts was seeing Fox gradually break down Chris’s walls. Fox knew just the right buttons to press, and watching her push Chris out of his comfort zone was both emotional and entertaining. It made Chris’s vulnerability feel so authentic and gave their dynamic so much depth. This is definitely a steamy romance; the chemistry between the leads is electric, and Finn doesn’t shy away from giving us those passionate, page heating moments. At the same time, the book never loses its heart. The tenderness between Chris and Franky was such a highlight for us; their relationship was sweet, grounding, and added a lovely balance to the intensity of the central romance.
Overall, Crazy in Love is more than just a romance; it’s about trust, healing, and letting someone in when it feels impossible. It’s equal parts sexy, emotional, and heartfelt, and it left us genuinely excited to see where Emilia Finn takes the series next.
I highly recommend this book and I know I'll read it again. Get ready to stay up late, laugh, cry (it's worth it!), and fall in love with this small town and family!
Can I move to Plainview today? Emilia described this small town and characters in a way that I could visualize it perfectly. From how a lake looks misty in the morning to Franky's cute little blue-framed glasses as he explains spreadsheets. I felt one with the story, like I could hop in the car, drive to this fictional town and hang out with the whole crew. And for existing fans of Emilia, I jumped for joy at seeing 'family' again when they joined us later in the story (no name spoilers here!). Chris/Christian and Fox, the MMC and FMC, had me laughing when they teased each other, chanting for them to 'just talk to each other' at times, and then smirking at the spice. Speaking of spice, I was pleasantly surprised as it was unexpected based on Chris's more reserved personality. But the chemistry is SO GOOD and I am here for it!
Emilia's brilliant style of writing was perfectly timed as she slowly shared sneak peeks of Chris and Fox's challenging pasts. Their internal dialogues about life and about each other helped me empathize with them and understand 'why they are who they are'. I wanted to hug both of them, cheer them on, and keep flipping the pages! As an Aunt of three amazing kiddos with autism, I was excited to see how she would weave this into the story. She did a brilliant job describing how autism can impact a person's daily life and their decisions in precise detail, while also acknowledging the extraordinary impacts of someone with autism. It made me love her passion for writing and researching to 'get things right' in her books even more!
As if I didn't think i could love the Watkins brothers even more.. I went and fell hard for the elusive Christian. THE WAY THIS MAN LOVES FOX SO HARD?!!! My good lord. He stepped out of his comfort zone whole heartly and jumped in with both feet to fight for what he deserved. He threw cation to the wind (and he had a lot of caution) and was planning to up end his 'safe' life for Fox. What was supposedly 6 weeks of unbridled passion whilst they welcomed Alana & Tommy's baby girl turned into falling hard and finding how to love yourself, quirks and all even harder. Also.. can we just talk about the Rollin' On & Stacked Deck series character cross over/reprise??? Ugh i LOVE them HARD and getting to see them again in all thier glory and banter was just perfect. It's never the wrong time to go back and visit them. I savoured this book for weeks. I needed to give them the time of day and i don'[t think I have ever annotated a book so much and still struggeled to find a line to forfil my feelings because the whole thing was just so damn perfect!
I have read every single story Emilia has written and they just get better each time. I may have my favorites, but while I'm reading, THIS one is it. Christian is neuro-spicy, OCD, and rough. Fox is loud and forceful and messy. He's a fighter, she's a New York executive. There's nothing compatible about them. Yet, they work. Except they don't speak. They aren't friends, even when she tells people they are. But still... I was engaged from the first sentence. I was invested from the first fight. I laughed at their shenanigans and my heart broke a little for their traumas. I loved them separately and hoped they'd tap gloves and fight it out. What I got was better because Emilia knows her characters so well and writes the stories they need. The ending was amazing and I can't wait to read more about the whole Watkins family in the next Live and War story.
I got an arc copy of this book and omg I don't know how Emilia does it everytime. every book is better and better. i may be biased because ice read everything of hers more than once but this is a can't out down book. the emotions in this book are absolutely great and I love LOVE that we have not 1 but 2 neuro spicey people in these books. The fact she brings autism to the for front and literally explains the on going emotions inside them for certain things is truly amazing. I loved tommy but im sorry Chris just pushed him out the way lol . and the spice! you would not think that came from Christian but damn it's always the quiet ones... sooo good. you have to read this series, you will fall in love with each and every character! Nothing hits like a Finn book, this one is no different. it will leave you with a book hang over.
Who needs sweet when you’re spicy enough to light a fire?
These two personalities… what can I say? That I loved this book? For sure I did!
I loved Chris and Fox for how farked up they are, because why can they find love too? We all are! Their kinda fire is intense and so who very Italian in passion and fire. Bonus!
I would give this all the stars, but I’m a jump in and see what happens kind of reader and lifer. I got impatient with Fox and her certain kind of need for love to be proven, and her fear of not being enough, so who knows, maybe I’d be the same and deny, deny, run.
But a certain cabbie straightened us all around. Some couples’ love language is fighting, mine isn’t, but now I get it.
I definitely recommend this series. I can’t believe there is another coming, but I trust it be will worth the wait too.
I was really looking forward to this one, and it didn’t disappoint. Emilia Finn’s world continues to feel like home, with characters who feel like old friends and a small-town setting that’s full of warmth and tension in equal measure.
This book follows Chris, an MMA fighter and co-owner of the Love & War Gym, and Fox, a high-powered “Happiness Director” from New York who comes to town to help her best friend Alana (from Book 1) after the birth of her daughter. Fox and Alana share a deep, chosen-family bond, and Fox is fiercely protective of her and her kids.
Chris, who is undiagnosed autistic, is deeply attached to his twin brother Tommy and to Alana, and he’s immediately wary of Fox’s return. He sees her as a threat to the life they’ve built and isn’t shy about trying to push her out. What follows is a deliciously tense push-and-pull dynamic between two people who clash hard but spark even harder.
Their chemistry is undeniable, even when they’re at odds. I loved watching them slowly shift from adversaries to allies, learning to understand each other’s fears and motivations. Fox challenges Chris in all the right ways, and he grounds her in return. The third-act conflict and resolution— centered around Fox’s career opportunity back in New York — felt real and well-earned, and I appreciated how they worked through it with honesty and growth.
Bonus joy: cameos from the Rollers and a tantalizing setup for the good Doctor, who's the hero in the next book!
Spice, complex personalities, surprises, and cameos from some of the OG Rollers? Sign me up!! Crazy in Love follows Chris, a neurodiverse fighter/trainer in a small podunk town and Fox, the New York executive BFF of Chris's brother's fiance. If you read the first book in the series, these characters will already be familiar to you. This story has lots of tension, two people who verbally spar as foreplay, an adorably loveable young boy named Franky, an angry rooster, and a scene that may leave you with a different impression of chess. I enjoyed the overall story, the glimpses into the workings of Chris's and his friend Ollie's psyche and the banter between not only the two main characters, but also pretty much everyone. The appearance of a few beloved characters from Emila's other series was just icing on the cake, but really brought a smile to my face.
My one critique would be that I wish there had been more of Fox's backstory scattered throughout the book. She seems to be so confident about everything and then, boom, insecurity central and nothing more than a quick glimpse into her past.
Other than that, this book grabbed my attention and kept me entertained for hours. Crazy in Love is a standalone book two in the interconnected Love & War series.
Thank you to the author for an advanced reader copy of this book. The opinions in this voluntary review are entirely my own.
How can I keep falling in love with these Watkins boys? Oh my heart. I AMO the craaaaaaap out of this wonderful, funny, heart swooning, panty melting absolute masterpiece of a story. Christian Watkins is set in his ways, wants order in his life, fiercely protective of the ones he loves, and the definition of a book boyfriend you never saw coming. Fox Tatum is the itchy sheets, wrong fork, and the loudest distraction to walk into his life. They spar, again and again, and ultimately an incredibly -out-of-character Lloyd Dobler move is made. The kind that makes you swear you'll eat olives in your chicken cacciatore, if it means being together! This knock-out second book is EVERYTHING you'll want in a must-read. Throw down the chess pieces, and get ready to fall.
I knew when I read Tell Me You Love Me that Christian Watkins would top Tommy in the book boyfriend category. More like the Alpha, OTT, Filthy Mouthed, squishy center secret boyfriend. I loved the way Fox gently but blatantly tried to push Christian’s comfort zone. I loved the way Christian reacted to Fox. The push/pull banter between them was everything. Their love for Tommy and Alana’s kids was so strong and beautiful. The chemistry between them was 🔥🔥🔥! The shower scene was like a video playing out in front of me. So well written! Loved meeting Cliff (again), seeing some OG Rollers show up and poor sweet Ollie. Can’t wait to read his story! Emilia has definitely created a new MMA family and I am here for it!
Holy cow, chicken, lake something. I don't even know. This was waaaayyyyy more adventure and love than I thought we were gonna get out of this book. Not surprised since our favorite author has a knack for keeping us on our toes. But she did it again. The spicy scenes, sheeeew, top 10. The love for a new niece. The familiarity for a not so sort of nephew. The surprise guests we've all fallen in love with about 55 books ago. The OTHER surprise guests we saw about 40 ish books ago? Yeah buddy. This book was a whole bunch of things we didn't even know we needed and 💯 Chris and fox are the TOP couple of Emilia Finn's book world on my list now. The pecking order has shifted and I'm not even sorry about it.
