Shipwrecked on earth and desperate to make money, an alien family decides to make a living by opening Aliens, Inc., an intergalactic event-planning business master-minded by 9-year old alien boy, Kell Smith.
Kell discovers that his neighbor, Bree Hendricks, turns 9-years-old next month and she wants a party with an alien theme. That should be simple as flying from star to star. But things aren’t that easy: Earthling’s ideas about aliens are totally wrong. Even worse, Principal Lynx is a UFO-Chaser and suspects aliens around every corner.
Will the Aliens totally blow the Aliens Party? Will Principal Lynx capture Kell and his family and them over to the government?
Will an alien boy find school friends?
Kell must find a way to fit into the school life and make friends. In art class, music class and home room, he must learn the ways of Earthlings. His next door neighbor, Bree, makes it easier and helps the family find a way to make a living.

I won this audiobook from the author, Darcy Pattison, on LibraryThing, back in December. For some reason, it seems it didn't get sent out to all the winners until tonight. I still enjoyed having the chance to listen to it.
Audiobooks are still a new thing to me, and some voices take some time to "grow" on me. While I became used to this voice as the book progressed, I was not overly impressed with his performance.
As for the writing of this book, it was fun and upbeat, about an alien boy named Kell after Kellogg's cereals, and his human friend, Bree. Kell was glad to have a human girl as a friend, and agreed to play her "alien" birthday party. The party ends up falling on the same day as his male human friend, Freddy's, but they fix that by combining the party, so everyone can attend both. It even lands Kell a future party planning job for a police parade.

This is a nice little early reader SciFi, and the illustrations are cute. Alien stories are always winners for me. It was free and I thought it looked perfect for the girls I babysit. There were a couple of mild girl stereotypes and some typos, but all in all a fun and enjoyable book.

A magnificent read for the age range of a 3rd to 5th grader. I loved that there were so may educational lessons presented within the book as you read. In my opinion this is a fun read for a child and as an adult I would definitely recommend it to my children.
I did take points away for minor editing issues that I caught. I believe that if you are going to present this book to any age base, the editing should be on point. I would like to see this book in a Spanish version for my dual language 10 year old.

the whole kell series is wonderful. we read it a chapter at a time for bedtime. my son so enjoys the adventures and the learning. the books bring up realistic subjects for kids to talk about which provides a good chance to talk about them.
these books are also humorous and fun. kell's relationship with his friends, especially bree is great. he gets upset with her but still loves her because they are such good friends. he often says, "earth girls are weird". my son wholeheartedly agrees and says the same about his sister all the time.

It is very possible that I don't have have the best guidelines for critiquing a good third grade chapter book. this could turn out to be great for them and it's just been too long since I've been a third grader.

I really enjoyed reading this with my boys!
My boys can be quite picky about the books they read, but I was happy to see they enjoyed this one. Kell and his friends are lots of fun. I like the alien humour too!

Delightful and great for a grade three read aloud for teachers
What a great book find! I highly recommend this book for children and reading groups. Humorous and clever writing. Nice discovery.

It was funny and imaginative. There were some "alien" words I didn't know and wondered what they were.

I actually thought it was a pretty good little book! Told a good story, that even kept this adult reader into it! I bet youngsters would enjoy this!

My 8 year old LOVED this book and was so disappointed when it ended. He giggled listening to the story and thought it was really great. Well done :)

What a great friendship story. Alien and girl.
The author has a wonderful simple voice for kids and the story was so funny I can’t wait for the sequel.

I absolutely adored this sweet middle grade book about Kell, a young alien trying to learn how to live life on planet Earth. It was cute and funny and the characters were all so sweet and lovable. The illustrations were adorable too and made reading it twice as enjoyable.

First of all, I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for your unbiased review.
Ok, I got this ARC because I have two kids, a boy who is 6 yrs old and a little girl who is only 3. I thought this book was shorter and full of images and it is not! I thought my kids would be bored because of the lack of drawings, but no, I told them what was the book about and they were willing to hear it.
As it is a book too long for just one read we took it as a weekend project and we did read it in parts. It was very funny, and my kids and I enjoyed it a lot, we spend part of the afternoons and part of the night reading this book.
Kell and why his name is Kell, Bree and her kind words, Kelly's parents, the why Kell ended in the Earth, their classmates, the principal, the music teacher, the party, the lists Kell made, it was funny and creative and the most important thing: this book got my kids attention, I always try to make them love reading, and believe me when I tell you, they loved reading this book.

Kell is shipwrecked here on Earth, and doing his best to fit into the third grade. He's got the help of a great sidekick in his best friend Bree, even if she IS a girl.And planning Bree's alien-themed birthday party has not only helped his mother and father fit in, but might just have showed them a way to earn a living.
Darcy Pattison has an engaging and likeable character in Kell, and his circumstances provide her with ample fodder for humorous interactions, mistakes and close shaves with the people of Earth. In this first book of the series Kell and his family have already used up the white cubes that make their replicator work, drawn the unwanted attention of the UFO hunting school principal and come close to being discovered just because Kell used a tiny bit of telekinesis. The illustrations are quirky and entertaining, and I think they are engaging enough that the Kell series could be used as a read to and read-along book for children not quite at chapter book reading levels. I did feel the book ended a bit abruptly, even for a continuing series. But that's my only complaint. I look forward to reading more of Kell's adventures on Earth

This is the cute story about a lovable boy named Kell who happens to also be an alien. I was a bit skeptical as to how corny this might get at first, but the author does a terrific job of making the entire thing seem natural. Kell is an alien, but he's also a boy trying to fit in. . .well, with a few funny mishaps.
The humor is perfect and is sure to make middle graders laugh. Kell tries his best to do everything right (a trait which makes him endearing), but just doesn't always understand things quite right or simply is a little unlucky. The dialogue and reactions are well done, and the illustrations sprinkled through the pages are marvelous. Although the writing is perfect for a chapter book level, I think younger kids would enjoy it as a several night read-a-loud as well.
The only thing that bothered me was the abrupt ending, but there's more books in the series, so that's easy to forgive.

What could be simpler than aliens hosting an alien party? Given the target audience, this is a cute story. I would recommend it to early readers in Grades 2-4.

I have chosen to give this ebook"Kill the Alien" five stars for such a sweet.creative children's story! I I liked it and found it Avery worthwhile story that held the readers attention throughout the ebook! I recommend this ebook for kids say second grade thru fourth grades. For boys and girls, especially perhaps girls though the most,yes? I received this ebook for free and in exchange after having read it I am now giving it an honest,unbiased review. Great Work Darcy!

My boys and I really enjoyed reading this book. It is very funny and we couldn't stop laughing. Kell and his parents do some hilarious things trying to figure out how to fit in here on Earth. I will definetly have to read more in this series. The book is a good clean read without anything inappropriate to read. I would say the reading level is probably 7 and up. I received a free copy of the book to give an unbiased review of. I am glad I did to as I loved it.

Darcy Pattison's has a gift with children's stories. She partners with brilliant illustrators and she writes timely, creative stories that engage children and leave them wanting more. Kell the Alien, part of the Alien, Inc. series, is about a boy and his family who are actual aliens trying to assissimilate with humans on earth. It's smart; it's fun, and it keeps children reading. Recommended.

What a wonderful series for young readers. Kell and his family are funny and quirky and that makes them oh so lovable. I read this book to my boys and it kept their interest, with laughs galore. 4 stars

I think that older elementary school children will enjoy this story. It's easy-to-follow and simple enough that they should not have any problems with the words. In addition, the portrayal of the third grade students and their teachers is fairly realistic.
