Petals of Blue: Part Two

Rate this book
My life is amazing. I have friends who love and support me, a kid who challenges me, and a job that I worked really hard for. It took endless days of exhaustion, hunger, and a whole ton of rage to get myself here. I love my life and my people.

Then they moved to town. Declan, Roman, Felix, and Jared inserted themselves in every facet of my life, intentionally and unintentionally. They took groveling to a stalkerish level as they chipped away at the wall around my heart.

Until a threat we didn’t see coming takes me from them. There’s no ghosting or texts gone ignored this time. I’ve been taken from them against my will and theirs.

Little does this masked man know, I’m not a lone woman fighting for scraps anymore. I may have built a wall around my heart, but I also created a legion of loved ones ready to lay down their lives to save me.

Keep my drink safe. I’m going to need it.

After that cliffhanger, I dived straight in to see what would happen to Blue as soon as it was available. Would everyone make it out intact? Would we finally get the slow-burn/grovel payoff? The plot’s here, the relationship does move forward, and the guys’ dedication shines. I just didn’t feel the emotional connection to the characters, especially being where the plot is driven I wish I had felt the desperation and the emotions but it just did not pull me in this time round. Even though the message about rebuilding after everything breaks still lands—and I really enjoy that the books shows we can be messy, not-perfect and still work together to rebuild. 💙

What I Loved About This Duet
· The devotion: The men are 100% in Blue’s corner, and that unwavering loyalty gives the story its heart. 🫶
· The rebuild theme: Second chances, picking up the pieces, and building something together—this thread comes through clearly and gives hope amid the chaos. 🧩
·Duet momentum: As a quick two-book run, it keeps the energy from Part 1 and pushes the relationships forward without stalling. 🚀

A solid, speedy conclusion with big loyalty and a hopeful rebuild. I do wish the plot was not so surface-level, but if you want a duet where the men go all-in for her and the theme is healing through the mess, this’ll scratch the itch. 3.5 stars, 1🌶️ - 💫

If you are unsure about why choose, or aren't a fan of much spice, this is a great launch duet. (It is a MMFMM, but there is very little intimacy, with three total scenes, none with everyone, and one MM scene.) There is some deep trauma themes in this (check the w@rnings), and so much heartache. This is a story of second chance. A story of survival. A story of healing. A story of finding comfort in boundaries and communication. A story of deciding if forgiveness is possible. A story of learning what family and love and hope and identity means.

This book was a let down

This book just felt unfinished and rushed. There was so much angst between the main characters and I feel like their ending was incomplete. I loved the first book but was disappointed by this one

Also-- I hate how they never really talked about the text threads between Felix and Blue and how their problems were glossed over

This one is for lovers of dark themes, found family, trauma healing, MM elements, and why-choose romance…

“If you wilted, then I’ll spend the rest of my life ensuring you blossom again”.

Going into Petals of Blue: Part 2, I wasn’t just curious, I was emotionally bracing myself. After the way Part 1 ended, I opened this book already tense, already protective, already scared for Blue in a way that surprised me. When you’ve lived through certain things, stories like this don’t just entertain you. They sit next to you. They pull old threads. They make you remember things you thought you’d stitched up.

I needed Blue to be okay. I needed these men to show up for her. I needed the healing to feel earned. I needed the grovel, the softness, the devotion. And while the plot pushed forward and the guys’ loyalty was solid from start to finish, there were moments where I wanted the emotions to hit harder, to match the weight of what the story was dealing with. When pain is familiar, you can feel when a scene almost touches the nerve but doesn’t fully press. I was craving those jagged edges. But even so, the core message of this book reached me in a way I wasn’t ready for: you can rebuild even after you’ve been shattered. You can be messy. You can be imperfect. You can break down and still be worthy of choosing yourself again. Of choosing healing. Of being loved without conditions.

Watching Blue struggle with masking her hurt, the way she tries to hold everything together for everyone else, the way she hides the darkness inside her so she doesn’t burden the people she loves… that’s something not a lot of people would either survive or do...

Violet’s POV added this tender, aching layer that made me feel understood in a different way. And the new side characters? I’m already attached. The early chapters, where Blue and her found family are scrambling for safety with absolutely no help from the police. That feeling of being unheard, unprotected, forced to figure it out alone… The way the tension spiraled felt almost too close at times. But even with those missing pieces, this book felt honest. Heavy, yes. Painful, absolutely. But also incredibly human. The trauma responses, the healing, the messy love, the devotion, the sacrifices these were the parts that stayed with me long after I closed the book. If the author writes stories for the new side characters introduced here? I’ll be the first one in line, tissues in hand. Because at this point, I know she’s going to make me feel things I thought I’d stopped feeling.

Petals of Blue: Part 2 might hit you in that deep, quiet place you don’t talk about. It did for me.

I have devoured everything this author has written so far and this was no exception. I read the whole book in one go and could not put it down. I love Blue even more in this 2nd book. Seeing how she deals with the struggles she goes through internally on the daily and how she finally makes the decisionfor herself to heal from them and work through it.. I identified with her struggle of masking everything inside by making other people happy. To see her deal with these issues and come out the other side gives me such hope and I really felt this deep in my soul.

I love the pov we get from violet in this book and the introduction of new side characters I am so intrigued by. I want to see more of them lol

For me this 2nd book had low angst and focused more on healing. The author did an amazing job of portraying what that looks like. While there was spice ( and it was definitely spicing) for me the focus was on the after effects of trauma and how it affects everyone, not just the person it happened to. I loved this fact and how relatable and touching it was.

I will be sprinting if the author writes anymore stories about the side characters that are introduced. I cant wait to see how much she can make me cry with the next one.
It isnt worth reading unless it emotionally traumatizes you right?
This is one you should read if you like prior trauma, trauma healing, dark themes, mm, why choose and found family vibes.

From the very first chapter, I was pulled straight back into the emotional fallout of Blue’s kidnapping, watching each of the men unravel, cope, and fight for her in their own ways. There’s something incredibly raw about seeing a found family pushed to their breaking point, especially when the pain is familiar in your own life. While the story moved quickly at times—leaving me wanting just a bit more communication and emotional excavation between Blue and her men—I still found myself completely absorbed. What stayed with me most was how deeply I connected to Blue’s internal struggle. Her masking, her instinct to carry the weight alone, her fear of burdening the people she loves… it’s a kind of quiet hurt that’s rarely written this honestly. Seeing her choose healing for herself, even when it’s messy, felt powerful. I read this in one sitting because I needed to see her come out the other side.

Add in Violet’s POV, a handful awesome side characters I’m already attached to, and the soft but steady rebuilding between everyone, and this became a heavy, human, hope-filled continuation. This book focuses less on angst and more on rebuilding, on the messy, imperfect, hopeful parts of healing, not just for Blue, but for everyone who loves her. The loyalty, devotion, and hurt/comfort moments were exactly what I wanted, even if I wished a few emotional beats were pushed further. Still, the core message landed beautifully: healing is not linear, love can be imperfect, and you’re allowed to choose yourself again. If the author writes stories for these new characters, I will be first in line, ready to cry all over again.

This was yet again another beautifully emotional duet by Y.V Larson.

Book one really focused on building the foundation of this book and book two picks up right where book one left off. The guys have no idea what's going on and take a minute to realise something bad has happened.

At times, I wanted to yell and shout at my kindle right alongside Violet for the guys to hurry up and find Blue but I loved that they were just regular guys. They were stuck feeling helpless with no idea where to even start until they grasped at straws and ran with one. Honestly, it could have ended up as a wild goose chase. They kind of got lucky and I love that.

I also loved that Blue didn't immediately forgive them just because they helped find her. Yes, what they did was amazing but it didn't erase the past. I loved that despite that, they still took things at a pace that was natural for their now building relationships.

It does kind of end on a HFN in that their relationships are just starting. They're officially together and are in a good place. We also get a title drop for the next duet which will be Violet's story so I am so keen to see some (hopefully) cameos from Blue and the guys in the future.

The darkness and angst at the beginning of Part 2 had me on the edge of my seat immediately. With literally no help from the police, the guys and Blue’s found family have to take matters into their own hands. The urgency builds and builds to the point where I didn’t feel like I could read fast enough! I was shocked at learning the identity of the culprit!

This book was full of trauma responses and not only fighting through those but also moving towards healing. I was all up in my feels for most of the book! Overall, there could have been more on-page moments between Blue and her friends, specifically Levi and Kevin, IYKYK, and of course between Blue and the guys. I needed more - more dialogue, more healing, more spice!

I really enjoyed the overall story and I love the devotion and admiration the guys have for Blue. I was impressed by the sacrifices Blue made on behalf of V despite what they meant for her. The Wilted Duet is wrought with emotional upheaval and healing and love that spans years and separation and betrayal.

Petals of Blue Part 2 is the second book of the Wilted Duet, a why choose contemporary romance about a woman trying to take back her power. I received an advance review copy and my thoughts are my own. Thank you to the author for my eArc.

Tropes and themes include:
✨Why choose (mmfmm)
✨Hurt/comfort
✨Guilt and grovel
✨Prior and current trauma
✨Slowburn
✨Rebuilding and healing
✨Forgiveness
✨Loyalty and trust

Rating: 4/5 Stars 2/5 Flames

The Lovely: This book is a delicious mess of emotions, chaos and grief. The FMC may be the one in trouble but the MMCs are in a bad way too as they try to cope. They are each suffering in their own ways and have to learn to rely on each other. I loved watching their journey, especially with the FMC.

The Mundane: I would have liked to have spent more time with each of the guys as I think this would have better differentiated them from each other.

Recommendation: After the cliffhanger from book one, I dove right in to see how it was resolved. And wow was it a painful (for the characters) resolution. If you like a contemporary why choose romance heavy in the grief and trauma with explorations of guilt and forgiveness, I think you would like this book.

“If you wilted, then I’ll spend the rest of my life ensuring you blossom again”.

If that one quote doesn’t summarize this book i dont know what else will!

This was a great conclusion to the duet. I loved seeing Blue grow and gain her trust in these men. She left the most important thing to her in their care and trust right before the epic cliffhanger in part 1, knowing they would never let anything happen to Violet. This book was very much on the hopes of getting Blue back and being together again. No one felt whole and it was heartbreaking watching everyone go through what they did. Seeing Violet ask for her mama and having all her friends come together to find her was amazing. It was more realistic in the search because it wasn’t a magical found her in the first 3 chapters it took time. I loved seeing at the end how happy everyone was and the growth they all made from part 1 to part 2.

Someone just hug me.

A beautiful and powerful dark RH with MM.
As it is quite an intense story, it might be a good idea to check the possible TWs.

The story picks up exactly where the suspense left off, and the harrowing experience continues.
So nerve-wracking!
I shared the same feelings of the unknown—the whys and the wheres—that the characters experienced. At some points, I was even yelling at the book.

The plot is incredibly captivating; it never let me down, and I simply couldn’t stop reading.

This book is full of strong and powerful emotions. A story about:
- hurt, trauma, and healing
- love, forgiveness, and growth

It’s a slow burn, which is to be expected given their past and everything the present brings to them—though there are still some very steamy moments.

It ends in an HEA with a hint of what might come next.

A bit disappointing...

As much as I liked the first book, I'm a bit disappointed by this one. Blue found peace with her guys but for me it felt a bit fake. I wasn't convinced by their groveling and their feelings, even Blue's as well.
The part of the book where Blue was detained in a cabin wasn't realistic. You can't survive more than three days without water and with the severity of her concussion she would be dead and not able to flee in the woods...
All the story with Violet felt exagerated, the way she still blamed herself, then she decided to travel by herself and ho! Guess what? A book about Violet will be released! I've never liked Violet, wasn't ablw to connect with her, I don't know why. I'm not sure in fact that her character added a lot to the story...
Well, it's a shame because the story had potential but this book didn't live up to my expectations.

Dark and angst not much spice

This is a deeply traumatic story that affects the FMC, her daughter, and the men in big ways.

This book picks up right where the last one ended. We get a good amount of panic, fear and the sense of dread. However, finding Blue was kind of anticlimactic .

The story after that is an attempt at healing. Here is where the story band the emotions felt kind of disconnected. The panic of waking from nightmares, worry over her, and even the building relationships were missing something.

The story itself was really good but we only really got emotional connection from one MMC after Blue was found. Even with this I'm excited to read Violets story.

I DNF it about 70% in.

I really tried to read this and finished it, but just couldn't. First it was just a repeat of her being made at the after she gets saved and it just a lot of repeat of the first book. There was to much focus on the MM couple and not enough on blue. If your going to put mm in a book that has to have the men grovel because of what they did to the fmc then you need to put less on the male couple and more on the groveling. Also we are already getting a book about the daughter/ cousin why are we have that much about her when we cant even fix the main relationship in this one. I was just a really slow book with not much plot after the kidnapping it really could have just been one book and taken out all of the repetitive stuff.

The conclusion to this duet is amazing. It starts off where Book One left off and let me tell you was gripped right from the beginning.

Blue is in trouble and the guys are doing everything they can to find her.

We watch as each of the guys are terrified but also see how they grow. I just love how each of them are and how they do everything they can to prove they are who Blue needs.

Blue is starting to lose her mind but knows she would do anything for the ones she loves. But will she be able to get away from where she finds herself and to those people? Read this book to find out. Don't want to spoil anything, just read this.

Can I just say that I absolutely love that this author's work represents actual emotions. Nothing gets sugar coated. Things don't get drawn out or shorted just to wrap it up quickly. The MMCs aren't getting everything they hope to accomplish over & done in just 2 days of trying. It's raw, unfiltered and honest. These characters have those same thoughts and feelings that we might go through. It makes it great to relate to and know that life's issues don't have to be carried out longer than you are comfortable with just because it's expected. The people who need to grovel can, even after you've forgiven them and let go of the anger.

I still don't think those four guys truly grovelled, abandoned the woman you love, although i think Felix is the one that rubbed me the wrong way the most from the first book to this one.  But they all needed to grovel  more.  Although I think Blue would have pushed them for more, and probably away if even more horror and heartache hadn't been thrown at her.

I loved this duet. I like how real this author makes her books feel.  I often connect with and identify with the female characters in her stories on a deeper level and spend a lot of time yelling at the male characters.

This was beautifully written, plenty of angst, and I enjoyed seeing the guy's point of view on a deeper level in this book.  I can't wait to read more.

Petals of Blue: Part Two picks up right where the first book left off, and the tension hits immediately. I loved how frantic and lost the guys felt as they tried to figure out what happened—there was something very real about their fear and confusion. And Blue’s reactions once she’s found felt honest; her trauma wasn’t brushed aside, and she didn’t just bounce back or forgive instantly.

I do wish we’d gotten a little more time with each guy individually, just to see more of what makes them different. But overall, this was emotional, intense, and full of that messy healing that feels earned. A solid sequel that kept me hooked the whole way through.

Perfect conclusion to Blue’s story. I love her journey and her strength. I really appreciated the authentic and raw way her story is written about her mental state and her inner fight. But also the depth and strength of each MMC. Her men are so supportive of each other, of her and her daughter. Found family is one of my favorite tropes and this really fit the bill for me. It’s got spice, witty banter, fight, strength, family love, found family, romance, action, and so much more. I highly recommend if you love a story about a strong FMC who’s put through it and fights her way to her happy ending and finds forgiveness for her loves and for herself.

ARC Review
4⭐

Argh! when book 1 ended on a cliff hanger, I was so stressed! I just needed to know what had happened! so I was so glad the men found her and they got their Happy ever after!

I just loved Violet and Blues relationship! It just showed that family is who is there for you, not just blood!
The guys supporting each other, even when they were all struggling was just 🥹
Clara and Derrick might have been the perfect grandparents for Violet! They were so supportive when Blue was missing 😍
Violet going travelling was the perfect ending for this unconventional family. seeing the growth they'd all made was stunning 💛

Thank you to the Author for the chance to read this book 💛

Oh Blue... she is such a freaking warrior. This book hit me in ALL the feels. Picking up where Part 1 left us hanging. Blue's men are desperate to find her after she is abducted. The turmoil they go through while she is missing is heartbreaking. Y. V. Larson has this incredible ability to drag you through the entire range of emotions. I cried a few times, laughed, longed... just so many feels. While this book was super light on spice, the tension between Felix, Declan, Roman, Jared and Blue is delicious. Yet, this book didn't hit the same way part one did. I don't know how to explain it but it was still a fantastic read.

Where to start

I had hoped the second book would get better and address the the toxic nature of the relationships and more growth would occur. Nope...the characters development is shallow at best. Any growth that does occur happens at the very end of book. As far as being a RH book, not really. Yes, the characters say they love each other and she has sex with one of the men at the very end of book two, but the only relationship the author focuses on is the one between Felix and Declan. It's the only spice you will get other than a very awkward scene in the first book. The story never develops past the poor mental health aspect and weird relationships.

after the intense cliffhanger we were left with in part 1, I couldn't wait to start part 2. and it didn't disappoint.
the tension and suspense in the first half of the book was intense. Blue was going through so much, and the flashbacks...and the voices she'd hear to keep her going. Just so emotional.
the 2nd half of the book was focused on healing and moving forward. also emotional, but bits of good were mixed in. the epilogue was the icing on the cake. it was quick, but sweet.

thank you Y.V Larson for the arc 🫶🏻

I was picked as an ARC reader for this book. This duet really leaves you in all the feelings and emotions. There's a raw ache and tension that lingers with you during the entire read.

It was nice to see Blue and her men come together, and finally have the peace they deserved.

I wish there had been more about how they all connected again, and I was desperate for more moments of spice. There was so much angst, hurt, anger, and sexual tension and chemistry, and I really wanted to see that play out in more detail.

Lovely ending to a trauma filled book that dove into her healing journey.

What I loved about it:
The men and Blue finding themselves and their way together. The spice was 🌶️🌶️🌶️
We got a little boyfriend being boyfriends.
The emotions and struggle was wrote wonderfully.

What I didn’t just love:
Could have groveled just a little more. But at least they did grovel.

I would definitely recommend this book if you like why choose where the boyfriends are boyfriends (at least 2 of them anyways)

Spice level 🌶.
I really enjoyed the story, the advocating for mental health and self awareness in the book was amazing. I was a little disappointed in the relationship with the guys, they dote on her and it feels like she hardly develops a relationship with all of them. I know there's history in the past but she just jumps in with I love you and only has s*x with one of them throughout the whole series and it's not until the end of the book. I needed more for them and their connection after everything they've been through.

This was a nice ending to Blues story. It was a tension filled story of learning to embrace the past to accept the way it has shaped who you are today. There isn't much more I can say here without spoilers. I felt that the grovel fell a little flat, though I can see how it was enough for Blue. Some parts felt drawn out and others felt very rushed. But in the end I do love the way they come together and the emotions that the writing portrayed so well.

Just like all the others

Just once, I'd really like a set of male characters in these books to actually have to *earn* forgiveness. But - as always - the main character is literally tortured enough that the original men look great by comparison. A forced forgiveness that is the product of a traumatic reaction is not true forgiveness. Just once I'd like the characters to actually earn it.

Can I use more superlatives to express my feelings on this book? Well yes I could for sure. This is part two of the duet so do read the first before reading this one. I was waiting to see if the groveling done would work. Happy to say we didn't have to wait long on the answer to that. I really love how dedicated the guys were and how amazing they are to Blue. Love the imperfections written in this story so you see you don't need to be perfect to make relationships work.
