To all good things...

"We came here to make Congress effective again, and that is bigger than any one man."

Some people see a conspiracy behind everything, only this time there was one. While coming to grips with the discovery of who tried to have him assassinated, Michael Bennit must make the decision that will define his character - make a deal with the devil to save his political career or risk losing everything he has worked for.

As party allegiances crumble in Washington, the new president is desperate to advance his own agenda with or without the help of Congress. Heeding the calls of a disgruntled public, he plans to act unilaterally and fundamentally change the face of the American government. Now the former soldier and teacher and his staff must race to do the impossible and unite the Legislative Branch against an egomaniacal president.

With enemies mobilizing against him, the media no longer on his side, and most of his former students no longer able to help, the stakes have never been higher for Michael Bennit - he must succeed in his quest to bring change to Washington or watch as the center of national political power permanently shifts to the White House forever.

The fourth book in The Michael Bennit Series, The iAmerican follows the plight of four people caught in the crucible of the greatest power struggle the nation has ever witnessed. Friendships will be tested and careers destroyed, but can the integrity of one man be strong enough to save the government from itself and restore the confidence of the American people?

1. The iCandidate

Mikael Carlson impresses with this political thriller series, well worth the reader’s time. Michael Bennit not only led a successful independence movement into the US House of Representatives, he bucked the two-party tradition. After he was shot, he could still not be silenced. While he learns who was behind the shooting and what reason there was to enact such violence, he must also get down to work. With a president who feels the need to run the country by circumventing Congress, Congressman Bennit will have to wrest control of a system many have called stale. To do so, he finds the oddest of allies while also feeling the pressure from within the House. A great series conclusion by Mikael Carlson!

While the attempted assassination of Congressman Michael Bennit shocked the world, there is much more to do. In order to move forward, Bennit will have to have his staff get to the bottom of what happened, who ordered it, and how to respond. In the meantime, there is work to be done in the House.

With a newly-elected president wanting to run the country by Executive Order and keep Congress out of the mix, Bennit will have to make a few arrangements with those he would have once called enemies to ensure change takes place. After a shocking occurrence, Michael Bennit is faced with the chance to become the next Speaker of the House, but is tarnished with some past connections. While there is a plot afoot to bully the lead iCongressman once again, he will not be deterred and wants the public to make their choice.

As the political pressure mounts and Congress is faced with an obstructionist in the White House, real change will only come with drastic measures. Perhaps Michael Bennit and his independence movement is just what the country needs, as the next round of elections is just around the corner. A strong and weighty political thriller series keeps Mikael Carlson on my radar, where other curious readers should place him as well

Mikael Carlson has created a masterful political thriller series with these four books, always trying to keep the reader in the middle of the action. The narrative presents some stellar storytelling from the outset, developing a solid foundation of political scenarios and places the characters in some entertaining and educational situations. Michael Bennit has been a great protagonist, using his love of history to teach others about America and its political foundations. He seems always eager to take on a little more to lend a hand or make a point. Told in a multi-perspective narrative, the series progresses on many fronts and keeps the reader fully involved, which was repeated once more in this book. Plot points complement the political developments that are plentiful, balancing surprises and political education from the outset. Carlson had done so well with this series that I am eager to try more of his writing, as time permits.

Kudos, Mr. Carlson, for a stunning political series that kept me hooked!

Completes the Michael Bennit series, a story of a man, his students cum staff, villains and heroes. Dealing with an obstructionist Senate and President. Romance and friendship. I cheered at the Prez's SotU address.

The series could have been used as a vehicle to promote or denounce some political issues — but it wasn't. I appreciate that. Every day I feel pummeled by the news organizations with their political opinions. This series was more concerned with cooperation and representation.

Not poetically written, but plainly and clearly. Well done.

An important read for all who have been disillusioned by the events since 2015

5 stars are not enough to award this insightful series that Mr Carlson has prepared for all of us who have been, and continue to be, part of this "experiment in democracy" that we had never considered experimental until we elected a pretender to preside over the most diverse and socially, economically, militarily advanced and unbreakable nation in the history of our planet...All of a sudden we wakened to a reality that the man who presided, the president of the USA! was someone who probably had never read nor even attempted to just read, let alone study, our constitution. Also, we were beginning to view both houses of our congress as more of an obstacle to serving our needs as representative of our states in cooperation and mutual collaboration with our judicial and executive branches\functions of our democratic republic--or our republican demosscracy. It seems as if bureaucratic and political goals of our chosen leaders have overtaken the desires, hopes, and needs of we the people...Mr Carlson has managed to provide through the characters of Michael Bennit and his high school students become competent, maturing congressional staffers, a comprehensive , well written scenario of a successful challenge to this incompetent, narcissistic, bureaucratic assault on our democratic processes through "divide and conquer"...Thank you, Mr Carlson. It is my hope that this important series serves to motivate our citizens to serve and struggle creatively as you have presented in this important series, with the goal of celebrating and continuing to UNITE the STRENGTH of OUR DIVERSITY...

Sad day when a series ends. Of all the characters the one who stands out is Chelsea. Excellent read. Definitely five PLUS stars.

Fav quotes:

Vince, one of the three remaining students from my B period American history class that started me on this journey, is always ready for a fight. With his Italian heritage and violent temperament, he would have fit right in one of the Godfather movies. Except the third one which sucked.

Social media has become the barometer of the American attitude about everything. If you want to know what’s hot, what’s not, and what has America’s attention, look at someone’s Facebook news feed or what’s trending on Twitter.

They were insightful arguments, and the perfect exemplar of how two men who do not agree on everything can still have intelligent debate without hating each other.

I loved this series!

I bought the first book when it was offered in an email and I couldn’t wait to start reading it.

The more I got into the first book the more I couldn’t wait to read the rest of the series. The books were very action packed and gave insight into what goes on behind the scenes in Congress.

The one thing I really enjoyed about the series, besides the plot surprises at times, was with the exception of the end of the first book and beginning of the second, the ending of each of the other book is continued in the beginning of the next book. So, the reader doesn’t have to search for clues as to what happened when first reading the new book.

I hope future readers enjoy this series as much as I did.

Inspiring!

This book iSeries one of the best, most interesting and exciting series I’ve ever read. It’s like being in college while at the same time, on the wild adventure along with the tremendous characters that live in the pages of this story of Americanism at its best! If you want an amazing experience, a lesson in integrity, courage, tenacity and honor, this series will give you more than you bargained for. And like me, you’ll enjoy every moment! I will be recommending it to everyone! WELL DONE!

Wow!

One of the best book series I've read in years! This cycle had me hooked from book 1--and I was disappointed in see it end. That said, it ended at a logical conclusion point, without stretching credulity. The characters are realistically drawn, and the events all follow one another logically and believably. I will be thinking about these books for awhile--and that's what a good book (and series of books) should do.

Great Series. Couldn’t wait to read the next in line

The story was great. Captivating. Could barely put down each book and couldn’t wait to get the next book as fast as I completed the previous one. Would have given 5 stars but the editing was bothersome. Words left out. Words repeated. Words in the wrong place. All obscured the meaning of a passage. Good editing would have taken care of these issues and pushed this series to the top.

Michael Bennit and the elected independent representative to Congress are about to change the way things happen. The sitting president who has been operating through executive decisions is about to realize that has come to an end. The people are beginning to realize what is happening and want Michael Bennit to run for president. What decision will Michael make and how will the country respond?

Outstanding!!

I have read every single book of Michael Bennit. They are outstanding and unique. I enjoyed reading about the lessons he would talk about and I realize how much history I didn't know about.
Thank you Mr. Carlson, I can hardly wait to see your next book on Michael Bennit. And I believe that the story will never end.

Regardless of what the author wrote in the preface, a person just can't get any enjoyment out of this novel unless they have started at the beginning. It's one continuing story.

It's important to note that this series was published in 2014. Without getting into individual politics, it would seem that Carlson was prescient when he developed the story.

What a great series

Once again a surprising plot twist at the end. I do not care about an occasional grammar issue; what I care about is a book, or better yet a series, that is captivating, hard to put down, teaches, and always leaves me wanting more. I fully intend to see what else this author has written.

This was a really great series. I did the equivalent of "binging" these books and am sorry to see them come to an end. It was easy to become involved in the story and care about the "hero" and his band of students. I wasn't sure if the author could bring it to a reasonable reasonable and satisfying end, but he did. Really good read!

Keeps getting better

Keeps getting better does not do justice to the author's talent and abilities. This political series could have come from today's politics and if you read between the lines there are a lot of similarities between the story line and today's politicians. Once again well written and entertaining. This series would make a great television mini series.

One of the best series of books of the thousands I've read. Mikael has a gift for weaving history, current events and some of todays' actual characters into a most interesting and thought provoking novels about personal goals, politics and character. Read the books in order to obtain the full story.

Wow, again!

It's a terrific conclusion to a great four book series. No spoiler alert needed here, but I, as the cliché goes, couldn't stop reading. This has been the most non-political, political fiction I have ever read, making it an easy recommendation to anyone regardless of where you might stand on today's issues. It's thoroughly entertaining and thought-provoking as well.

A solid ending (?) to a fun series.

At the end of the last book, I was a bit bored with the series, but I’m glad I stuck it out. A satisfying ending (?) for Mister Bennitt and his students. Wish it come true. I did learn a lot by reading this series.

A disappointing ending

After following the Bennit saga for 4 books the ending was disappointing. I won't spoil it for you and I don't regret reading it but there were threads left open and and Michael's final choices were not fulfilling.

Another thrilling ride through the abyss of politics in Washington. Michael Bennit keeps finding his calling. As he says, leadership is not directing people to his end it helping them find their own path to fulfillment and success.
