This a love letter to real life, however it shows up; an antidote to the highlight reel that is social media, a tribute to the unfinished, the unfiltered, the uncertain.
In this debut collection of poetry, stories and questionable choices, Georgie Jones, with her signature wit and warmth, explores the exquisite messiness of modern existence and makes the chaos feel, somehow, like home. She can't promise any answers, but she can make you feel a little less alone in not having them.
I absolutely read every word in Georgie's adorable voice in my head. So charming, so lovely and so true. If you're not following her on social media, you simply must. She has a way of making your heart warm, reminding you of the wonderfulness of this life.
So good. So beautiful. I cried because I didn't realise I was at the end and wanted so much more. I will come back to this collection time and time again.
"People like to measure worth by output, so they ask questions like 'what do you do', and secretly they mean 'what are you worth', the little sneakies! Creativity gets folded up and filed under hobby unless it's accompanied by prestige. Like, you're only an actor if you've been in a film they've seen. You're only an artist if your painting has hung beside a small plaque in a cold room. Your current existence is a warm-up for when you really start Doing Stuff...We've become so obsessed with doing, we've forgotten about being, and being, surely, is the whole point."
Love love love Georgie! Sadly, this collection was missing many of my favourite Georgie poems. I also don’t think you can beat Georgie reading her poems in her own inimitable style- for me that’s where the real magic lies.
When I say I’m obsessed with Georgie Jones, I mean that I would spend forever analyzing her work just for the chance of one day possibly somewhat sounding like her. Georgie’s approach to the world - as a messy ball of string that you can’t help but love and hate and attempt to detangle for about 10 minutes before you give up and leave it as it is, because maybe that’s just how it’s supposed to be - is straight magic. Not just a little sprinkle, like the whole jar of pixie dust.
I plan to reread this over and over until I have it memorized, until I can spout these poems in her beautiful lilting accent.
All this may be a bit extreme, but what this all goes to say is, these poems encompass what it is to live life as a woman. Point blank period. And I don’t think anyone else could do it quite like she did.
I really liked this collection a lot. I’m learning that I adore hearing how poets see the world, it’s often so much more beautiful and observant than how I naturally look at things, and I love getting to learn from that. Georgie Jones feels like someone I’d genuinely want to be friends with; her voice on the page is funny, charming, intelligent, and full of heart. These poems made me smile, made me think, and gave me that emotional whoosh in my chest that only good writing can do. I had such a great time reading this, and I have no complaints.
I read this in one day. Her love for life just radiated off the pages and reminded me to appreciate the little things. Georgie is also the epitome of a “girl’s girl”, and this felt like a celebration of girlhood, though I’m also certain that you don’t need to fall into that category to appreciate the thoughts she shares
Gorgeous poetry filled with celebrations of female friendship, a love for life and some really great metaphors. Favourite poems: Does anyone know what we’re meant to be doing? Everything is poetry if you’re in the mood for it Single and entirely unbothered about mingling Virgin Active, Cricklewood Don’t try this at home, kids, but I’ve put a diamond in my belly with glue
I am not Georgie Jones's intended audience (or maybe I am?), but I loved her collection of poems. I wish she had an audio release of her book. I bet she'd add extra layers and make the experience even better.
Favorite poems: "Worst-Case Scenario" "You Don't Have to If You Don't Want To/A Soft Rebellion" "A Contradiction" "If I am Ever Called a Girlboss"
Wow wow wow! I am not a poet so any words I write will not do this collection justice therefore this will be brief. Every poem hit. Georgie Jones is the voice of my generation, of women figuring out their place in the world and just trying to enjoy the small things and fun with it in the meantime.
This book of poetry and essays is so beautiful I don’t know how to put it into words. I nodded in agreement or sucked in a breath from the sheer beautiful shock of a phrase more times than I can count. I took my time reading it, taking in one or two poems a day, just to make it last longer.
My favorite book of 2025. So glad Instagram thought I would be interested in her. Watch two reels and ordered her book. She speaks truth. Adding “hear her live” to my bucket list.
this is the first book of poetry I have ever elected to read from cover to cover. now covered in notes and annotations (I lost count of the number of times I've written "I've never felt so seen!!" in the margin), so many pages have the corner turned over so I can come back and read it again! ❤️
