“Touch me, and you’ll learn why they fear my bloodline.”
Malec I was raised to command oceans without letting them swallow me. To lead without flinching. To feel without breaking. Born of ancient, untamed magic, I was meant to rule the mafia above and contain the merfolk below. But control is a fragile thing—and I’m starving. Merfolk are vanishing. Power is shifting. And the only leverage I have is Roran Morozova, the hidden daughter of our enemies. I’m supposed to use her. Instead, I’m unraveling for her. Her soul pulls at the storm inside me, and if she touches me… It won’t just destroy me. It’ll destroy everything.
Roran I was raised in shadows. Trained to smile while bleeding. My father’s secret daughter. His hostage. His shame. To save my sister, I took her place in a marriage meant to kill me. I thought I was prepared. Then Maleciandro Spallo walked in—all storms, scars, and secrets I know better than to want. He’s not part of the plan. But the way he looks at me… It’s not fear. It’s not pity. It’s something deeper. Like I’m not a weapon or a weakness, but the start of his undoing. And maybe mine too.
Book 3, Part 1 in the Sworn Series. Must read after Sworn to My Heart and Sworn to Revenge. The magic, mermaids, and mafia collide again in a world where loyalties shift like tides, every wave carries a warning, and love can be the most dangerous weapon of all. Some vows are forged, some debts are hunted, and some souls will consume you before they’re claimed.

This book had me on the edge of my seat THE ENTIRE TIME! I’ve loved every book in this series so far but this is hands down my favorite!
Malec and Roran are such dynamic characters that they felt real. They were relatable and so fun to read. I loved seeing some of my favorite characters from the prior books and Myko will forever hold the best side character title!
This one is set years in the future and Dor’s transition to this storyline was flawless! She picks up with the world building and expands upon it in an intriguing and beautiful way! I can’t wait to see what part 2 brings!
But let’s pause for a moment and discuss that cliffhanger. What. A. Ride! I’m honestly still shook over it!
Sworn to Consume by Dor Friedman Sworn series book 3 Releases 11/21!
Thank you to Dor for entrusting me with an early copy!
Dual POV, mafia x mermaids, found family, forbidden feelings, slowwww burn, he falls first (but denies it), forced proximity, grouchy sea dragon, EmOtIoNaL DaMaGe, dangerous powers, touch her and find out, enemy families, forced engagement but the bad kind, banter, morally grey, lots of smirks 😏, good girl, she's mine, traumatic childhood
I adore Malec so much! Sorry first gen, he mayyyy have just stolen my favorite spot! And more Myko!! I love their banter so much!! Honestly the whole trio with Bay included is hilarious! It was also happy (though tragic) to see Roran get to start to weasel into the Spallo family and find people who cared about her even when they barely knew her! And meeting the sassy second gen was SO fun! This book was a little bit more even mix of the mafia vs mermaid/magic of the three books so far. The slooowwww burn is definitely teasing me, and I can't wait for the payoff next book! And the ending!? WTF Dor?! I NEED the next book nowwwwwww pleassseeee!
No thoughts, just Malec…and heart pain for that ending
Okiesss but seriously Sworn to Consume absolutely wrecked me, but like in a good way. 🫠
Malec. I love him. Did I mention I love him? Because I do. A lot. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
This book had everything, stormy tension, mafia drama, ocean magic, forbidden longing and the kind of slow burn that makes you yell at your Kindle or book 👀
Roran and Malec’s dynamic is UHHHHH I LOVE. The push and pull, the danger, the emotion… i need and want more plz 👏🏻
I’ve read every book in the Sworn series, and this one might actually be my favourite. The worldbuilding keeps getting richer, the family bonds hit hard and the Spallo crew are still chaotic perfection. I laughed, I screamed, I maybe cried a little. No actually a lot. I cried A LOT
Also Dor, how dare you end it like that. That cliffhanger was pure cruelty 😭
If you love: 🌊 Mafia x Mermaids 💔 Enemies to “I’d die for you” 🔥 Emotionally repressed sea princes 💋 Found family ⚡️ Touch her and die energy
…then prepare your heart because this one will consume you before you even realize it.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll just be here waiting (impatiently) for Part 2 😭🖤
OMG! This book has seriously had me all over the place emotionally. I've been laughing one minute and then just completely choked up the next. It's just so engaging and sparks so many cool ideas in my head. I'm literally counting down the seconds until part two!!
Wow what can I say about this book? If I could give it 6 stars because it definitely deserves it ! Malec and Roran have my heart ♥️ This book has everything I look for in a romantasy : Suspense/mystery/slow burn/found family/tension/action. If you’re looking for a mafiaXmermaids series look no more , this is your sign to go read this series now 🧜♀️
Well the Aurhor Dor Friedman definitely did it again with an absolute hook line and sinker of a five star read! I will pre-warn you and I can promise this warning will not be enough that you are not ready for the ending, your will most likely go through a tsunami of emotions when you Finish this incredible read but trust me when I say it’s worth it.
Each book in the Sworn series has had me falling in love with another Spallo character and it’s safe to say I have another husband and it is most definitely is Malec! The way the Author shows that females are 100% capable in a “male” dominated world and that it’s eye opening and empowering for Roran who absolutely deserves all the female empowerment in the world is absolutely amazing! I love how Roran may suffer from an illness but she is still beyond strong, fights, works hard but also has the heart soul and courage to open herself to people who kidnapped her because that’s how unstoppable she is. I didn’t know what to expect or where Sworn to Consume was going to take us but it was a wild ride and I’m beyond ready for book four. This is my last warning to brace yourself for the end, don’t through your book, don’t throw your kindle make sure your prepared for a small or quiet large break down until we get number 4. Do not let this stop you though because that would be an even bigger mistake I’m already wanting to ready all 3 in the series again because I’m so obsessed and waiting to work out how I can join the Spallo family
Tropes: Enemy’s Daughter Mafia Mermaids (but deadly) Soul Feeding Banter Touch Her & Die Club Settings Missing Princess
~<>~<>~ Thoughts: Arguably the best book in this series to date! I kept turning page after page desperate to find out what would happen next. The only relief found was in the few comedic moments (including glittery costume rooms). This is genuinely a book you don’t want to miss!
Malec is the heir of an empire both under the sea & on land in the mafia. His stoic personality only cracking to make small jokes with family… at least until he meets Roran. Roran wants her freedom, but her feet are tied to her father’s bidding as her life is dependent on a drug only he can provide her. Desperate to ensure a life of safety for her and her sister, she’ll make dangerous moves and deals that could just risk everything she holds dear.
When two worlds collide, land and sea, enemies and lovers, what will be destroyed and what will remain? There’s only one way to know.
Maleciandro was born to rule both the mafia and the sea, but his grip on power is slipping—and the only leverage he has is Roran, the daughter of his enemies. He’s supposed to use her, but instead, he’s falling for her, even though their connection could destroy everything. Roran, raised in secrecy and sacrifice, is to enter a deadly marriage only to find herself drawn to Malec, whose gaze sees her not as a weapon, but as the beginning of his unraveling—and maybe hers too.
In book 3, part 1 of this installment on The Sworn Series, we get to see our beloved characters from books 1 and 2 again, but we also get Malec and Roran. Malec might be my favorite MMC of the series so far, but that will only be determined when we get part 2. Roran is such a strong and feisty MMC but due to her upbringing she has some major insecurities. I adored getting to see her come out of her shell throughout this book, little by little. And of course, I LOVED seeing Bay and Myko again because how can you not love their banter?! It's perfect.
Dor did a great job at introducing the plot for this one, as the other two wrapped up pretty nicely, but the conflict in STC fit really well into the overall plot, especially because this is set years in the future. There is still the overarching problems of being a mermaid on land and being in the mafia, but there's also a bigger issue and I can't wait to see how it gets solved in part 2. The one thing I am a little upset about is the cliffhanger, BECAUSE WHHYYYY!?!?! *crying* The worldbuilding got even better here as we learned more about the mermaid world, and I'm excited to see what else unfolds. Overall, I loved this so much, I highly recommend, and I will be foaming at the mouth for part 2!
Rating: 5/5 Spice: 1/5 (no spicy scenes, but spicy comments)
Tropes: Mafia Romance Mermaids & Magic Fiesty Water Dragon He Falls First Touch Her and Die Slow Burn Forced Proximity Forbidden Love Reluctant Attraction The Enemy's Daughter
Thank you so much Dor Friedman for allowing me to Beta Read this, all thoughts are my own.
Sworn to Consume has ruined me in the best possible way. I devoured every page like it was oxygen. Dor Friedman you have done it again!
From the first chapter, I was giggling, squealing, and kicking my legs like an unhinged feral creature. Then somehow I was crying, sobbing, holding my breath and clutching my pearls because how dare a story be this intense, this beautiful, this visceral?
The pacing and the tension? Absolute perfection. The characters? I would fight all the mercreatures, beasts, humans, and mafia men for them!
And that cliffhanger?! I am both emotionally shattered and spiritually reborn. It destroyed me… yet I would do it again gladly. The second I finished, I stared at a wall, questioned my life choices, then immediately started counting the days until the next book. I am not okay, and I still love it here.
This series keeps getting better and better, and somehow each book raises the stakes, deepens the characters, and twists the knife just a little more. If you love fantasy romance with unapologetic intensity, aching longing, and writing that grabs your soul and refuses to let go… you need this series. Immediately.
Dor Friedman, I am on my knees. This world? These characters? My entire heart now belongs to them.
A must read. A must feel. A must obsess over. I am utterly, hopelessly, beautifully consumed.
* Mermaids & Mafia * Slow burn * Human FMC * Soul Consuming MMC * Found family * Grumpy dragon * Blood bonds _________________________________________
I loved to see the books all mesh into one every character in the first two books are in these and to see the growth of the characters that I've grown to love over this series warms my heart.
MMC oh my goodness i love him! He is such an in depth character and to find out who he is at his core explains so much of why he is the way he is. You wont be disappointed in him.
FMC she is such a bad A. I love how strong she is even though she has her weaknesses she can handle her own and i love when a fmc isn't meek. her backstory will have your heart clenching.
The plot is hands down one of the best i have read and is so well written and the plot twist ug you will know when you know. there is tension not a lot of spice but the tension is well written and in the correct spots and amounts in the book. The humor is gold.
