Rozay Creed never planned to follow the path his father laid out. He had dreams of college, a clean life, and a future without blood on his hands.
But all that changed when Solae Banks disappeared without a word.
Heartbroken and betrayed, Rozay buried the man he used to be and stepped into the life he swore he’d never live. Now he runs an empire alongside his brothers, Maddox and Kyro Creed, moves in silence, and keeps his circle tight. He’s married to a woman who brings him peace, but that peace never touched the parts of him Solae broke.
Now, after eleven years, she’s back with a truth that hits harder than her leaving ever did.Rozay doesn’t know what’s real. All he knows is the second he saw her, that old pain started breathing again, and the life he built with Nevaeh started to crack. Torn between two worlds, Rozay must choose between the life he built and the one he once planned.
Some love don’t go away. Some wounds never close. And in this African American urban romance full of second chances, street-lit drama, and black love, Rozay Creed is about to find out what happens when the past comes back with a story… and a heartbeat.
Now this wasn’t a terrible book but it felt like the author was trying too hard to give us angst but solely off words alone. The scenes weren’t tense nor dramatic enough. The past didn’t feel like a knife hanging over everyone to me. It was like oh it’s some history here potentially funny business but nothing to make me feel like OMG THIS IS GETTING CRAZY. The forced mystery just annoyed me bad the last scene just read corny to me because just tell that man the truth already before them folks spin it. Then the whole “His mom’s gaze kept a warmth” like WHO CARES if you think that lady didn’t know her husband idk you not that bright and deserve whatever bad comes to you. Also I’m over authors writing their MMCs as these ruthless dangerous bosses but none of the decisions they make reflect that. Like nothing Rozay did gave he was a boss about his business who you didn’t wanna cross lmaoo. Like Rico got 3937474948 chances and 12 threats.
Because I’m use to knowing there will be a next book, I said I was going to read it and, well, I’m ready for part 2 because that ending is about to have some heart machines beeping and nurses rushing ppl to the emergency room!!!…. There should have been a woman to woman conversation, especially with all that mess Navaeh was running her mouth about!!!… This book was sooo good and I know the drama is about to really start because, Solae is not leaving now!!!…To walk pass your wife with your ex, now girlfriend is CRAZY!!!…Momma Creed is there for all of it though, and Kyro is coming with the jokes!!!… Wonder if Daddy Creed going to need to be revived to share his part in tearing up that relationship!!!…
The return of Sol has stirred up complicated emotions and lingering resentment within her. It's a struggle when the heart desires someone who is already committed to another. Nevaeh finds herself drawn to Sol, possibly influenced by Rozay's status, yet she refuses to back down easily. As hidden secrets start to unravel, the situation is bound to escalate, leading to potential chaos. The intrigue of this story has captivated me, and I’m eager to dive into part two.❤️
Rozay clearly the eldest of his siblings and the head of their empire. Although married his heart belonged to someone else. Now that she recentered his life he all of a sudden forgets all about what his home now consists of. I’m downright disappointed in how he handled this situation, it was belittling, disrespectful and cruel.. no one deserves this. But it’s hot and heavy because I don’t think his wife is a pushover so please give me book 2
Well, I’m trying to be open to new authors. I almost DNF’d because of the writing. So dramatic and it’s just not flowing. The story was at a standstill for a while, like Nevaeh’s POVs, she just talked about the same thing two straight POVs. Then it’s predictable and obvious what happened to Solae before she even said what happened to her. She was getting annoying because it’s like, just tell him at this point. I think it would’ve been more intense to keep us guessing with no hints at all. Because then I would’ve been running to the second book. But it’s like everything is out already. What could possibly be in the other two books, because we know Mom, Apollo, and Nevaeh are involved. Apollo, Rozay’s father, admitted that he had something to do with Solae’s disappearance.
The dashes and short lines like “No hello. No explanation. “No warning. No peace.” were all over the book. It was too much. Every few pages had those kinds of sentences, and it made the story feel robotic instead of emotional. It broke the flow because it started sounding repetitive and unnatural. But it’s a good plot, and I was still planning to move on to book 2.
Edit: I’m trying to review book 3, but it’s showing I already reviewed (the one above is for book 1). Anyway, DNF for book 3. I can’t do it no more. The story is so forced. So dramatic. Solae got on my last tiny nerve. What was the point of returning if she wasn’t gonna tell the truth when at the beginning she said she was coming to tell her truth. She didn’t tell nothing. All she did was waste everyone’s time. The brothers were so soft. I swear my eye twitched when she told him it was his dad who ran away, and when he asked who raped her, she didn’t tell him. Like, if you gonna tell him that, you might as well tell him the whole truth. I get that was the author dragging out the story, but it was the most annoying way to do it. I wanted to slap her stupid self. Anyway, kudos to me for trying a new author.
I wanted to scream at the mention of "eleven years ago" every other paragraph. And the ages aren't adding up for the intensity of their relationship. I'm sorry but y'all gotta age these characters up. Running off as a teenager and him not getting over it is just meh for me. I wish I had known this book wasn't a standalone.
Omg this was so good from beginning to end if you haven’t read it you got to read this book Rozay a boss!! His wife shouldn’t wanna be with him knowing someone has his heart
Not a lot happens in this book but the author does a great job of setting the scene for the drama that is to unfold in the upcoming sequel. Lets hope the drama and the stakes live up to all the emotion put forward in this installment.
Enjoyed every line of this but I’m really ready to find out what exactly did Apollo Creed done to Solae something told me that he played a part in why she up and left.. Now that he is on his deathbed what other truths are going to come out.
Now that’s how you end a series. I cant lie, I was hoping that some relationships ended differently, namely Apollo and Nevaeh, but I do feel like (almost) everybody got what they deserved. Now, I’m just patiently waiting on Kyro and Maddox’s stories 😊
So Ms. Author Ma’am…this is my first book by you. You left me with so many questions. Thus far, I really enjoyed this book. I can’t wait to get more in your catalog.
Nothing really significant happened until chapter 16. Which is the last chapter of the book. This book is what I would consider a real slow burn. But I'm going to go into #2 hoping it picks up some.
This series was long and drawn out. I skimmed through most of it. Too much unnecessary information to lengthen the series. I gave it a 4 because the series wasn’t totally bad, but it could have been done in one book.
Book 1 brought me in, and the story line hooked me immediately, but am I the only one who hated how vague she was about what happened? Like girl spit it out.
Young lovers Rozay and Nevaeh are forced to stop their relationship. Years have passed, and the feelings are still just as strong. It's wonderful to see these two fighting to be together, although not everyone is happy for them. I'm anxious to see if love will prevail. Author did a wonderful job with this book.
