World Affinity The Radiant Traveler Series #2

World Affinity The Radiant Traveler Series: Book 2

Rate this book
A sickness spreads. A city hides its secrets. The System is watching.

Callum and his companions arrive in Bernhardt City expecting rest and trade, but instead they find a mystery festering in the streets. An illness grips the poor, whispers of corruption reach the royal palace, and shadows stir beneath the surface of the System itself.

For Auggie, it’s a chance to save his father. For Olivia, it’s a test of her growing power. For Callum… it’s the beginning of battles that will change him forever.

From training yards to taverns, from royal halls to the depths of a dungeon, the group must fight, craft, and endure together. The System offers no easy victories, and even friendship may not be enough when kings, clans, and ancient powers take notice.

Almost 5 stars

The MC is great, cept for this stupid anime quirk with females, dude guy is 21 yrs old... let him decided on a female he likes. Don't make him clueless it's a stupid quirk. Also it wasn't until the end that progression to bringing his mom/sister to this world. Book three better bring her in because getting do far into the story and wish from the first book to still go unanswered will make me quit the series. Also did I miss it or did you end the book without making him take the tier up potion... lame things like that need to be taken soonest because then your telling your reader that your mc is stupid and will have such a valuable potion stolen... if only he had drank it when he had the chamce.... I hate clichés. Don't make this great series into clichés.

I decided to continue with the paperbacks, and I was happy with it. Book two had a different feeling, the scope changes quickly. Princess Morgan was a fantastic addition and the royal family scheming was fun. I especially liked the tomb of the ancients. And the lore. All the fantasy pipe talk reminded me of the first time I read Lord of the rings of course. The king was another story. Like a barbarian made king. The dungeon felt perfect. Almost like entire new worlds come to life and the three siblings bickering was especially fun. But the dungeon. I won't spoil anything but loved the dungeon. This was a great blend of multiple genres. I definitely recommend it and am waiting for the third book.

DNF @ 22% I listened to the audiobook and the narrator is STILL mispronouncing "inventory". The author is STILL rambling on and on about pipes and tobacco. We STILL aren't learning anything about the "system". The main character STILL hasn't figured out the money system and is throwing money around like an idiot and making storage items for everyone and their mother, LITERALLY! Not to mention the ridiculous amount and type of things that he's storing in his. I could swear that his adoptive father said they needed to keep that information quiet and control who gets them and who knows about them. I'm bored with this and I just don't want to hear anymore yapping about pipes and their finishes.

I’ve been on a system kick lately. This was a good continuation for the MCs and I really like the tomb puzzle. I wanted to see where the Agrippa family was heading and with the end dungeon my heart was leaping in the chamber of the empress. The two guys Callum and Auggie have buddy movie vibes. I’m going to continue with this but I’m hoping for an audio book.

Enjoyed

I thought it was as good as the first. Still issues with wrong words used and jarring transitions. My pet peeve is the use of square feet as a description of space when it is only planar. So many authors don't understand that is should be cubic feet, not square feet. Volume requires all three dimensions.
