Sataou, still reeling from his losses and devastated by his future, continues on. He is determined to bring the Shengu Sect to its knees and rid the area of their influence once and for all- both for his loved ones and all those being oppressed by their machinations.
The power within him grows in strength, however, and he finds himself needing to decide whether to stay true to who he is or to simply allow himself to change, becoming what the Void wishes for him to be. The world around him loses some color, but his abilities increase- and he will need every bit of help he can get in the fights to come.
Meanwhile, a new threat emerges- one that is unheard of in his corner of the world, but that is as dangerous and deadly as any he has faced thus far. When he is offered power beyond his wildest dreams, strength that would put his goals but the lifting of a finger away, will he take it- even if it may cost him everything he has left and more?
I have thoroughly enjoyed all of this author’s books - the Leon series and now fleshing out the story of the enigmatic Grandmaster Satou. This was the darkest of all the books, but still that darkness was a major part of the story I’m not partial to violent and somewhat dark books, but this one held my attention and somehow I think this will have been the darkest part of the story (I hope anyway).
If you’re looking for a new author, I highly recommend this one. If you’re looking for really well-told cultivator stories, I highly recommend these.
good book, needs a bit more character, interaction, more action and power progression, and less alchemy
Good book, excellent world building, the book is a bit imbalanced The MC is missing something probably a sidekick or a party. He’s likable, but there’s just not enough action in the book and nobody for him to play off of. I particularly don’t wanna read a primer on alchemy should be less of that and more action. Will read the next one in the series and hope the story gives us a little bit more action, power, progression, character interaction, and less alchemy.
The second book in this side series is exactly what is needed! Learning more about one of the main character’s history is critical to fully diving into a story!!
The author does a great job on this and leaves us wanting more….. no spoilers but you gotta read it 😜
As always the authors books are fun and exciting, the world and character development are great. The story moves along at a fast pace and there's never any filler chapters just to plump up the book. Great read.
This prequel was so far behind the other series that it is it own story. Our guy is on a warpath to destroy his former sect. At the end of this book our guy learns that the area he is in is truly a small part of the world.
