Ok read.
Would I revisit? No.
Issues I had:
1. Heroine was uncomfortable by the OW who is rumoured to be the hero's gf. When she brings her up, hero acts offended and all high and mighty saying she shouldn't pay attention to network rating BS, it is a stunt organised by the NW, there has NEVER been anything between them, yet he fails to mention that he slept with her.
2. Of course who he sleeps with before her is not her business but as far as the world is concerned SHE is the OW, they are very much on, and it appears as though he DOES have a relationship with the OW and then just moved on when the heroine came along.
3. Both the OW and network have humiliated the heroine using her relationship with the hero. And his protest was NOT enough.
4. However, heroine was not likeable whatsoever. Her "I don't want a relationship " got really old after a couple of time. WAY too much pushing on her part.
5. The humiliation by the OW and the lack of response from hero was also heroine's fault. He never wanted to hide anything, she did. If she was ready to name their relationship and not treat him as her dirty secret he probably would have shot himself before letting the OW ever touch him again!

This caught my eye, despite the cover, and I thought I'd give it a shot. And it didn't work out. I was more than a little surprised to find that I like Gannon more than Paige. He had arrogant jerk written all over him, but that turns out to be Paige's misread rather than an actual part of his character. Which is what eventually tanked my ability to continue. Paige is such a self-involved coward that I just don't get his attraction to her.

At two-thirds or so, she pulls a runner with a just-friends kicker that just left me floored. She shut down every attempt to tell her the truth and then has the audacity to demand "why didn't you tell me all this". Like she hadn't made it impossible and had even tried to prevent the eventual reveal from happening. Ugh. So she finds out the truth and then decides that things just can't work anyway? Yeah, at this point she doesn't deserve him. I'd prefer if he nursed his broken heart for a bit and then found some nice girl who wouldn't treat him like crap and hold her own misjudgments over his head as if they were true.

I wanted to write a review, but then I saw Kiki's review and I agree with her, well, apart from #4.

I liked the heroine. I wish she pushed more
-> me - the push-liker :-)))

I struggled a bit with the beginning, then with the middle, but I liked the part, when he grovelled.
Romantic. He did great!
I would have definitely taken the house #greedyAlex

And the plot with h's dream - a documentary on women in the television industry incl. pay gap, gender stereotypes, sexual harassment - was amazing.

"There are double standards, some of them so subconscious we don’t even know we’re all behaving according to the double standards until someone points it out."

"Feminism, sexism, misogyny, and confidence are beyond complicated. Yes, we do have a responsibility for our reactions. But some women aren’t in the position or don’t have the confidence to demand better treatment. Those of us who are in the position to need to be willing to pay the price for standing up."

4☆ Gannon the grumpy dreamboat contractor provokes his composed TV field producer all the way out of her sensible work boots.

I had fun with this one. It took me a few chapters to really get invested, so maybe give it a chance. I’m not a big fan of reality TV (except for Below Deck Australia🤭), so that’s definitely not a prerequisite. This is a bumpy, messy, reluctant love story set behind the scenes of a brother-sister home renovation show with a focus on cool human interest stories.

I love the coiled tension, combustive chemistry, and sharp-as-a-tack banter between Gannon and Paige 🥵 🧨💣⚔️. The colorful supporting cast/crew also has an enjoyably cozy, quirky found family vibe. The plot is hilarious, scorching hot, and satisfying. I mean it's worth reading for the shower scene alone.🔥🔥 Yes, the (fake-ish) OW drama is annoying, but I suppose that's the point. With the human interest stories, you get a little relevant social commentary without being heavy-handed, and some emotionally rich excitement that doesn’t rely on contrived, OTT drama-rama (ironic, given where they both work and what they're being pressured by the network to manufacture...). 😉 I enjoyed watching these flawed humans make a few messes before finally building something pretty cool in the end. 🍿

4.5 Paige and Gannon Stars

Well, I think I now have a newfound appreciation for hot guys with tool belts - Gannon King stole a little bit of my heart. He's my kind of hero - alpha , completely hooked on his woman , loyal and good hearted with the ability to well and truly screw things up but still have you cheering for him and willing the heroine to take him back.

Gannon King and his twin sister , Cat , are the faces of a T.V. network's prime show about revamping houses for people who are in a difficult or challenging life situation. They swoop in and work their magic and helping them do that is a whole team of people that make for some fascinating secondary characters and our heroine , Paige St James. Paige is the person on set who keeps everything moving and flowing. She troubleshoots and organises and is always cool and calm under pressure. This story does a great deal to highlight the way women are treated with a huge amount of inequality and I understood why Paige felt she had to constantly maintain a certain image and persona. I loved the juxtaposition of her character and the vile OW , Meeghan Traxx.

Gannon and Paige are each others nemesis and are total opposites. Gannon is all fire, heat and doesn't care who he annoys when he speaks his mind. He tells it like it is and doesn't sugarcoat anything. Paige is cool and calm , never losing her temper , always being professional and she came across as quite aloof at times.
Think Gannon - think red hot passion. Think Paige - think ice queen. But, you know, just know , that she is bubbling under the surface.

I loved how Gannon got her to let go and we got to see the fun, passionate Paige. When everything hit the proverbial fan I felt sorry for him. He was trying so hard to earn her forgiveness and she really did make him work for it. These two compliment each other and it really is a case of opposites attract. Paige has a sad backstory and it's easy to see why she is so reserved and almost detached sometimes. It takes a little longer to warm up to Paige but I really did appreciate her dry sense of humour and she is lovely underneath her frosty exterior. Her thoughts cracked me up - this little inner thought with heartfelt cursing is a gem...

“Now’s not a great time.”
Yeah, now was not a great time. Now was a clusterfuck, the fuckiest clusterfuck in the history of clusterfuckery. And her career, her reputation, were at the center.

This book has one of the loveliest endings I have ever read. The point where Gannon reflects on their relationship....oh my goodness....MY HEART! I was a little teary eyed and swoony at that point.

Mr King could easily be King of my Kindle heart...

She eyed him. “Look at you being accommodating.”
“I can be accommodating. Charming, too. Handsome, strong, fairly intelligent, high tolerance for pain, I can hold my liquor, and I make a decent red sauce.” He counted off his attributes.

HEA? Yes *swoons*
Cheating? No

fun but not the most exciting thing in the world. I feel like he was really pushy and that turned me off. NO MEANS NO BABES! Also the plot being centred around a construction show I thought I would love but it fell really flat.
it’s still a good read but I wouldn’t recommend unless you can be bothered lol

Very cute love story..add a reality HGTV style tv show and I'm in heaven. Gannon was perfection. Paige was strong and determined. Together they were sweltering hot. First time reading this author, looking forward to reading more.

Oh my goodness, what a fun read to find in KU. I enjoyed this book immensely. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I got a little frustrated with the heroine but it wasn't enough to make me dislike her. I could see where she was coming from a bit.

Gannon the hero was totally swoon worthy! What he did to prove his love for her made me cry!!!

This book is definitely worth a read. I so enjoyed the back and forth between Gannon and Paige. Literally made me LOL. Here are a few examples:

“I’m a nice guy,” he insisted.

“You look like one now, but you’ll have to remind me when you’re throwing a hissy fit and flipping a work table.”

He looked offended. “I have never once flipped a work table.”

“Maybe not, but you’ve thrown plenty of hissy fits,” she argued.

“What concerns you most about having sex with me?”

“Jesus, Gannon!” There was such a thing as being too unfiltered.

“See? You already have the vocabulary down.”

“You want honest, and I want to give you what you want. I need you to take this job because you’re the only one I trust with something this important to me. But I also want to be near you, to see you, touch you.” His rough palm caressed the side of her face with a gentleness she didn’t know he possessed.

“Slow your roll, King. I’m saying yes to the job, and I’m saying I’m not interested to the relationship.”

“I accept your yes, and we’ll see about your ‘not interested.’”

“I’m directing. I’m the boss.” She drilled a finger into his chest. “How am I going to be the boss when everyone has just been given permission to stick their noses into my private life?”

“Honey, I don’t want to sneak around. I didn’t say you were panting after me, begging me for a quick bang.”

She slapped a hand over his mouth. “Just. Stop. Talking. Or I’m going to use a nail gun to shut your mouth.”

“We don’t have the air compressor hooked up yet,” he murmured against her palm.

They are just so cute! It's a fun read. Gannon is such a swoon-worthy hero. What he does for Paige? Gah. I just. I love him.

I'm definitely going to read more books by this author. This was so good!

This was a really cute book with some predictable tropes but that is typical of romance books. What was different was that this book takes place during a home improvement show between the produce Paige and the star Gannon. Enemies to lovers trope. It's has some serious sweet points throughout with the spice. I understand the strong Mfc but at times it seemed over the top with Paige. In my opinion, this was a typical Lucy score book.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Everything you would expect from a book from Lucy Score!!

Wonderful lovable characters. Easy flow. Strong heroine. Good love scenes. Just the right amount. But not over done as some authors do.

I think every woman who reads this will want a Gannon King for their own!!!

This is a stand alone book.

Lucy Score is and forever will be one of my top authors!!
Things i loved: Gannons grumpiness, Paige’s growth, Nonni, the HGTV feel of it all, the groveling, the confession of love 😭
Things that weren’t my fave: Paige overreacting, Gannons lack of communication the entire first half, gannon throwing legit “temper tantrums” as a grown man???? Paige wearing capris

This is my first Lucy Score novel and it was cute. I had a fun time with it. But it didn’t necessarily make me EXCITED.

I was confused about Gannon’s thought process when he was coming to terms with his feelings for Paige. He admitted he didn’t find her attractive at all but then suddenly he did? I feel like that could have been drawn out a little better. Also that third act breakup was SOOOOO LONGGGGG oh my lanta I didn’t expect that 🫠

SO GOOD! A man that can build will forever be superior. Also one of the BEST proposals I have ever read omfg. I did hate a little bit of Paige’s inability to be rational about her relationship and feelings with Gannon but Gannon of course made up spectacularly. So pleasantly surprised by this book wow

I find the high rating for this book flabbergasting. It’s poorly written, poorly plotted & poorly executed. I was totally on board at first, seemed like just the sort of thing I’d like. But it went downhill fast and just got worse. Ugh. Doesn’t even warrant an actual review.

Not my cup of tea

Ive enjoyed other nooks by this author. The concept of this novel is well done but i feel the characters are notnsincere enough and the story just drags. At 75% i was simply skimming through the pages waiting for it to end

So this was really cute!

Home improvement HG-TV type of show in this book.

Romance is between the star and his Producing Assistant. They have an enemies to lovers vibe and it was absolutely delicious!!

Funny, heartwarming and really enjoyable
