4.25stars--RIVER’S HOLLOW is the third instalment in Kate Gable’s contemporary, adult RIVER COLLINS FBI mystery thriller series focusing on thirty four year old, FBI Agent Rebecca ‘River’ Collins.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from first person River, and third person RIVER’S HOLLOW follows FBI Agent Rebecca ‘River’ Collins return to the FBI, and a case that continues to haunt our story line heroine. Approximately twenty years earlier, River Collins survived an abduction, and two years imprisoned, and her survival would become the precipice upon which River would build her career but a the ritualistic sacrifice of, and missing children would become all too familiar, as River goes in search for the demons from her past.
The world building follows River and her team as they begin to investigate a possible connection between the missing and murdered children, and what is found, is a link to the past. From mythology to folklore, religious beliefs and ritualistic killings, RIVER’S HOLLOW journeys into the darkest realms of true believers and, groomed disciples. As per Kate Gable’s style of writing, there is a familiarity between series, leading heroines, back stories and love interests.
The secondary and supporting characters are colorful and energetic including victims and survivors, believers and disciples. We are reintroduced to River’s sister Leslie, her husband Chris as well as the return of River’s love interest Dr. Aiden Watkins; Supervisory Special Agent Emma Bertanelli. Special Agent in Charge Eric Siwak, Agent Garrett Landry, and retired FBI Agent Thomas Mercer. The requisite evil has many faces.
RIVER’S HOLLOW is a story of betrayal and vengeance, obsession and madness, power and control, family and love. The character driven premise is dark, dramatic and intense; the characters are desperate and determined. RIVER'S HOLLOW ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

FBI Agent River Collins is investigating the death of eight year old twin boys. The boys' murder exhibits ritualistic signs that resembles a cold case. This case is so close to River as she has her own demons that she has been trying to elude—something that happened 20 years ago. With River’s traumatic escape, the past is ever present here, and in ways both relatable and surprising. What could have happened to the boys and why them? The more River delve into the case, the more labyrinthine it gets—causing so many questions and few answers. As the case becomes more complicated and dangerous, it becomes clear that she has to stop whoever it is before more children are targeted. What happens next? Well, read this heart pounding mystery as you try to find who the killer is and find yourself waiting with bated breath for the last book. Kate Gable creates a world, plot, and characters that linger long after the last sentence of the last page. I highly RECOMMEND this book.
This is book three in The River Collins FBI Mystery Thriller series. River was once abducted and escaped two years later and now part of The FBI. When twin boys are found dead in the forest along with other clues River then finds that the boys were part of a program run by a respectable foundation so what is going on and how can they find the people involved and responsible for this awful crime. River now needs to look at all the fact and clues but some of them are familiar to her own abduction so now it is a race against time to bring those responsible to justice. River is now having nightmares and flashbacks from when she was taken and now she seems to think that the latest crime is somehow connected. The twists and turns keep coming and it will have you turning the pages because you need to see what will happen next and also what the outcome will be in the end. This book was so addictive and it kept my attention throughout because I just couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait to read the final book in this amazing series.
In true Kate Gable style, this book has you on the edge of your seat all the way through it, twists and turns that have you gripped from the start, wanting to know more. It holds your attention from the beginning to the finish, the best book so far in this series. Leaving you wanting more.
This is the third book in The River Collins FBI Mystery Thriller series. River was abducted and managed to escape; now, she is a part of the FBI. When twin boys are found dead in the forest, along with other clues, River discovers that the boys were involved in a programme run by a reputable foundation. This raises urgent questions: what is happening, and how can they identify those responsible for this horrific crime?
River must examine all the facts and clues, some of which remind her of her own abduction. Time is running out as she races to bring the culprits to justice. Haunted by nightmares and flashbacks from her past, River becomes increasingly convinced that the latest crime is somehow connected to her own experience, and she is the target, the final goal.
While I did enjoy this novel, there were parts in this and the prior book in the series that made me wonder if it was properly proofread. In this story, once children are taken care of, etc., the characters are preparing to raid a location to find The Shepherd. I quote "We prepare to leave within the hour. ...And tomorrow, at the place where it all started, I might finally understand..." In the very next chapter (and the rest of the book), there is no mention of what happened with this raid, no further mention of "the place where it all started." However, they do find out the identity of The Shepherd and where he is now located. There were some inconsistencies in the prior book also. (I should have kept notes on those). It just takes away from the flow of the story. As I said, though, I did enjoy the story line and characters. I just had to learn to "let it go" and "go with the flow" as the story unfolded.
This is the third book in the thrilling River Collins mystery series that has you totally gripped from the beginning and doesn't let you go until the amazing end. This is definitely unputdownable so make sure you have time to read it through. In this book, River and Emma catch the case of two missing boys and the murder of others, but something in the back of River's conscience comes forward reminding her of her abduction 20 years ago while investigating and it seems like what is happening now is connected to River's past. We are taken on an edge of your seat roller coaster as you can't stop turning pages. If I were to describe this book in one word, it would be WOW! I highly not only recommend this third book but I also highly recommend the entire series. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
River and Emma catch a suspicious death of twins. A ritualistic setting with symbols carved into ancient oak trees, and a medallion with the same carving place by the right hand of the victims. Something tickles River's memory, but what does it mean? As the case progresses phrases said by the mother of the twins continues to push River's memory. This case and River's abduction 20 years ago are connected. Reliving those two years are pushing River to the breaking point when her brother-in-law is connected. A page turner and great characters that we've met before are fleshed out, better understanding of how they relate. Kate Gable keeps getting better.
River's Hollow is the second book in this series and is a suspenseful and chilling thriller focusing on FBI agent River Collins who is attempting to solve a double murder of two young brothers as well as dealing with her own personal demons from being kidnapped as a child. She finds cult symbols on the trees surrounding the deceased brothers and as the investigation continues River can't help to have memories of her past as a captive as well as the reason for her abduction. This well written thriller has a unique plot with twists, danger, mystery, and a story which is addictive. I received a copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
FBI Agent River Collins is assigned a case where a set of twins has gone missing and then showed up murdered. Their murder has all the markings of being ritualistic. Also, details of the murder have strong similarities to River's abduction as a child.
This is book four in the River Collins FBI Mystery Thrillers. Like all the books before it, you will be drawn in from the beginning and hooked into wanting to know how it all plays out. Kate Gable will capture you with a well-written, well-plotted, and well-told story, just as she always does. As always, this author does not disappoint.
This is book 3 in the River Collins series. After twin boys are found dead River finds that this case is closer than ever to her own 20 years ago. The more River digs the more she realises that this is the same as what happened to her. Will River be able to solve the case or will being personally involved affect her ability to do her job properly. This is a fast paced story will River finally get answers and more importantly closure of her abduction that’s hung over her for so many years.
River's next case brings up memories of her past. She was kidnapped and held for 2 years before she escaped. When she is called to the case of murdered twin boys, things start to line up with her past. After more kids are kidnapped, River must face a stunning answer in her investigation. I would definitely recommend it. I received a free copy of this book via the author and this is my honest review.
I received an ARC of River's Hollow and I am voluntarily leaving a review. I really enjoyed this book as well as the rest of the series so far. However, I found it to be too predictable. we found out what was going on in the beginning of the book and yes, there were twists and turns and more evidence presented as the book went on, but I found they were pretty easy to predict since I already had the information I needed
I'm going to start by saying this 3rd book is Jaw -Dropping! Agent River Collins is thrust mentally back into the nightmare she escaped long ago while investigating the missing twins and the murders of young children. This book will have you gripping the armchair so hard you'll leave finger marks . Ms. Gable gets 5 stars plus for her captivating story.
River Collins is an FBI agent with a past she's trying to overcome. She's finally opening g up to get friend Emma and her sister Leslie.
In River's Hollow the truth is finally revealed and the FBI knows who the hidden faces are. I enjoyed everything about this story. River is still one of my favorite characters. I'm looking forward to the fourth book.
This is a very suspenseful read.FBI agent River Collin’s and her partner Emma are to to solve the suspicious death of twins .Some things seems to be triggering her memory about her own kidnapping 20 years ago.Is this case some how connected.Would they be able to solve this case before any more children is murder.Read to find out.My review is voluntary for I received an arc copy of this book.
A horrific case which has FBI Agent River Collin's having her work cut out for her. A fight against time in this intriguing suspense thriller which is nail-biting to the end. I received this ARC copy and recommend this book to other readers.
FBI agent River Collins is investigating the death of twins with a carving on a tree near the bodies. The more she finds out it brings her back to her being held captive when she was 12. A race against time to stop more children being killed. A page turning thriller.
In this riveting murder/mystery, River comes to realize that the case she’s working now coincides with her abduction and escape twenty years ago. The suspense was intense and gripping. I found myself unable to stop reading! This is a very engaging story that’s a must-read for mystery fans.
Absolutely loved this book. river's next case is missing children but when she realizes that her abduction from twenty years ago is related can she save these children in time and remember more about her case?
