Close Call - a review by Rosemary Kenny.
Close Call by prolific writer Blake Pierce kept me spellbound from start to finish, reminding me of stories in the same genre by Tony Hillerman, plus a flavour of Erin Brokovich, as Kari investigates the corporate cover-up of past and present causes of the many chronic illnesses and early deaths of people living near a uranium mining operation.
She must walk a fine line between career and heritage, investigating not only her own mother's unexplained death years before, but also three current murders - all with clear links.
Hints of the paranormal, a strong female lead and fascinating cultural revelations, make Close Call unputdownable - get it right now!

Good suspense
Once again in a threat to old rituals and current consequences, the author has created an interesting and compelling story. While I have no Native American connections, having lived in Arizona for about fifty years, I appreciate the stories, traditions and ceremonies of Arizona actives Hopi, Navaho, and other indigenous communities.
