☀︎ 𝖮𝖵𝖤𝖱𝖣𝖮𝖲𝖤 ☀︎ Is the first dark romance book in the (Rave to Ruin) duet by Nova Kane. Three POV's. In this you'll meet (Blaire, Noir, Dagger)..
Sooooo after reading (Blood & Throttle - ARC Review) Blood & Throttle I wanted to stay in this authors orbit a bit longer, so decided to grab this one.
Love the cover, the blurb, love the author reading it was a no brainer...Yet again I’m pulled effortlessly into a storyline that got its grip on me, I inhaled this in one go, couldn’t or didn’t want to put it down.
This book was intoxicating, a sister trying to find answers to her twin sisters (Brynn) disappearance only to spiral down the same path as she did, and two boys hold those answers close to their chests.
It wasn’t overly dark, (but check triggers just in case your levels are different to mine) for me the darker the better, but it gave me enough grit to keep my dark little heart happy, never knowing what was going to come at me next, and that's what has me coming back to this author time and time again, twists and turns, the angst, the spiralling, the drug dealer 💊 (Dagger), the DJ 🎧 (Noir), the little relapse (Blair), all connected in some way.
And then of course we reach that brutal cliffy, definitely wanting that next book.
“she doesn’t know it — but she’s my fix, too. my addiction. and when i finally take all of her, really fucking take her — i know i’ll overdose.”
thank you so much nova kane my love for giving me the chance to arc read !!!
this is a dark why choose romance, mfm, rave, love triangle, dream vs reality, dj mmc + drug dealer mmc + numb fmc, drugs, feral jealousy, morally grey, no conventional hea, he falls first, three povs, standalone novella 💊
blair is trying everything and anything she can just to numb it all. between finding out the truth about what happened to her sister and muffling with glitter covered bodies high as a kite, she feels like there’s more to her sister’s death. dagger is a drug dealer for all your needs. whatever you want, he has it all for you to escape reality. noir is a dj who is just so tired of seeing all the same types of people over and over again. that is until blair walks in half naked covered in glitter and distant eyes. there’s a hurtful past that wedged dagger and noir a part and they swear to not let the past repeat. but with the way they both go absolutely feral over blair … why choose 👀
“say the word, and i’ll play your moans over the speakers. let everyone know exactly how i make you come undone.” — noir
“tell me to stop. lie to me. i like it so much better when you lie.” — dagger
I NEED MORE OF THIS SO BAD I MIGHT COMBUST 😩 i loved that they all had a pov and i got to dive into each of their minds. blair is someone who is lost and just wants answers to her sisters death. dagger and noir have this rival against each other over something that happened years ago but can’t seem to let go of. blair doesn’t want them to choose her just because they want her. she wants them to truly accept her as she is — wild, chaotic, and a bit crazy 🥰
honestly if i ever need a quick high i’m running back to this book 🤩
This was my first Nova Kane book and I didn’t know what to expect.
Little did I know, I’d be addicted. That it’d be laced, cut with something good. Something I wouldn’t forget and need more of as soon as it was gone.
I finished Overdose in a single sitting. The language and writing in this little thing? 160 pages of poetry. Of ART. Desperation and devastation, wrapped up in a little pink skull.
I honestly was not ready to feel as many emotions as I did, but the rollercoaster was worth it. As soon as I finished, I was left desperate for more. More Blaire, more Dagger, more Noir. More of what they can be. More of what the shouldn’t be.
More of our favorite little relapse.
Thank you so much Nova and team for allowing me an advanced copy of OVERDOSE!
Just when you think you’re in for another dark romance you get the unexpected. This was a DARK romance so be warned and look at those trigger warnings.
Overdose was amazing, follows a toxic love triangle between a girl looking for answers, a dj and a drug dealer. They each have a past but what she doesn’t know is how close these men are to finding the answers she needs.
From the second I picked it up, I didn’t want to stop reading. The scene, the vibes, the characters, the plot, everything was perfect. I felt like I was on the ride along with Blair and I didn’t want to come down.
It felt like I was on a high throughout the entire story and came crashing down with that last chapter. Like I got cold water thrown in my face and was told to get my shit together.
And that ending?? HELLO? What do you actually mean?? I need another book asap or I may loose my mind, because that ending was criminal. 😭
First, I’d like to thank Nova Kane for providing me with an ARC. I truly appreciate the opportunity to read your work. As a rule, I always provide honest feedback when I receive advance copies.
I was really excited to dive into this story. The premise, a dark rave romance, sounded fun and full of potential, and the social media teasers had me excited.
Unfortunately, the story didn’t quite work for me. The pacing felt very fast, which made it difficult for me to connect with the characters.
One thing I struggled with throughout the story was the frequent use of what I’d describe as “vague, poetic metaphors”. For example, phrases like “felt like sin” or “smells like smoke and danger.” These appeared so often (especially the word “sin”) that I eventually found myself pulled out of the story, wondering what was actually meant. I even made notes saying “What does that mean?”
Before writing this review, I took time to reflect and also looked at other readers opinions. It seems that many did enjoy this style of writing, so this may simply come down to personal preference.
I will see say I can only take my club rave drug crazed books in spurts. It takes something extraordinary for me to have an investment and I think that this story delivered. The details were spot on in giving the energetic vibe of the story setting. Good chemistry with the characters and the ONE character story that really hit for me was the story of Blair’s sister. It really brought something special to the overall plot… pair that with that unconventional ending and you got yourself a must read.
I stared at the wall for about 15 minutes when I finished this, just getting my thoughts and feelings back in order. Which is on point considering the authors note and dedication had me all in my feels, before I even started this party! I haven't highlighted a book this much... ever!! At first, I thought I may just highlight the whole damn thing!! Briar's inner monolog was fuckin hilarious!! The push and pull between Dagger and his Little Relapse perfection!! The way Noir played Briar like a "turn table" made me melt!! I listened to the Playlist while reading, 10 outta 10, had the vibes vibin!! I am not usually into love triangles, but I feel this one was done perfectly!! Honestly, all I can say is dive in feel the beat and enjoy the ride!!
I’m still in utter shock from how this book ended, let me tell you, it almost had the kind of ending that drives every reader crazy (do with that what you will) but it then took a drastic turn and now I'm not even sure what to make of it. I’m big on books with drugs or drug abuse as a main plot factor but I was intrigued by the plot. A girl goes looking for her missing sister and ends up in a world of rave parties and deadly crazy drugs called Cyanide. That night she meets two guys who hate each other and get pulled into their rivalry. When the trope says toxic love triangle, I mean toxic love triangle. It’s really well described by the fmc that she’s the “prize” in a “dick measuring contest”. So there was a point where I wasn’t sure I liked either of them, but when the truth came to light I definitely loved Dagger more. This plot was great and intense but beware these guys are huge red flags. It was a thrilling story, and I was hanging onto every plot twist. I’m just not very in on the characters, specifically the fmc. Half the time, she’s high, the other half she’s getting railed so we don’t know a lot about her character so I can’t really tell if there is major development of her character but there’s definitely some change. The last plot twist and ending had me shocked out of my mind and ten seconds away from questioning my own existence. This book had me in its claws and I give it a 4/5
This book? Fucking wild. A full on fever dream of glitter, drugs, sex, and danger that you don’t just read...you inhale. Blair’s a broken mess of a girl, missing her twin and slowly killing herself the same way her sister did. The rave scene setting? Perfect. Dark, sweaty, reckless. And the love triangle? God, yes. Dagger and Noir both bring that hot, dangerous energy, but Dagger…yeah, he’s the one who crawled under my skin.
The tension is filthy. The chemistry? Off the charts. Every scene felt like it was about to combust.
And that ending? WHAT. THE. FUCK. The way Dagger and Noir gaslit Blair into thinking she imagined everything - just to protect her, was insane. Twisted. Sweet in a completely deranged way. And then? That last moment…the pill…the truth crashing back in. I actually screamed.
It’s dark, it’s toxic, it’s addictive. And I loved every fucking second of it.

5⭐️2🌶️ This book was everything I hoped for. The vibes were perfect and addictive. It was full of jealousy, revenge, banter, heat, and more. I was hooked from page one.
Getting all 3 POVs made it so easy to sink into the story and each character’s head. I’m OBSESSED with Dagger & Noir—both so possessive, so unhinged, so “touch her & ☠️” coded. Blair? Absolute queen. Sassy, stubborn, hilarious, and not your typical dark romance FMC—she’s got fire, depth, and a killer backstory.
Even knowing the premise, the ending still blindsided me—in the best way. And that unconventional HEA? Perfection. I could’ve happily devoured 200 more pages of these three.
First of all, a huge thank you to Nova Kane for trusting me with an ARC of this book ‼️❤️
When I dove into Overdose, I had absolutely no idea what I was walking into and I mean that in the best possible way.
We meet Blair, a girl spiraling down a dangerous path after her sister’s disappearance.
Flashing lights, a pill on the tongue - and suddenly we’re right in the middle of a pounding party scene where we meet the two main guys: Noir and Dagger.
Dagger is your classic bad-boy on the outside, but loyal and devoted underneath. Noir? The exact opposite. From the moment they set eyes on Blair, the tension ignites, and they waste no time taking things further.
„She looks like everything I fucked up and everything I still want.”
Blair goes with the flow with the guys and so do we 💃🏻 swept up in this intoxicating, high-stakes world.
„I fall back into reality. Into the aftermath. Into the overdose.”
This book kept my curiosity at a constant high. Secrets spilled, events spiraled, and even in the toxic, dangerous atmosphere, I couldn’t look away.
I devoured page after page, desperate to see what world happen next. And that ending? Completely blindsided me. I thought I was ready for anything- turns out, I wasn’t.🥹
Overdose is a wild, addictive ride - tense, emotional, and refreshingly unpredictable. ❤️🩹
I recommend it to anyone who’s not afraid of getting hooked, because this Overdose is truly addictive. 💊
I didn’t know what to expect going in, and I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did. This was a wild ride. This follows Blair, Dagger, and Noir. Blair is trying to find her missing sister, so she leaves her whole life behind to join the party scene to see if she can find out what happened to her. At this one rave she meets Dagger (a drug dealer) and Noir (the DJ), she is instantly attracted to both of them for different reasons. It also seems like Dagger and Noir are in a bit of a war with each other, but we don’t know why. When certain secrets are revealed, it gets crazy and so fast paced. The ending had me SHOCKED and I honestly don’t know what to do with myself until the second book comes out. This has a lot of heavy topics and a lot of drug use so please check triggers before going into it.
Blair is trying to find herself in the world after experiencing so much trauma, so she turns to the rave culture to give her answers. She’s using everything to draw out her pain, and thats where Noir and Dagger notice🤭
There’s so much history between these 3 and WHEWW🥵Noir and Dagger will do anything for Blair & I love how they protect her too! You get to see how deep their mind set is when it comes to the life they live and the people they care about. Blair is a free spirit that can’t be tamed, and I love how her men UNDERSTAND that🖤🖤
"Overdose" is an intense novel that portrays the raw struggles of humanity.
At first, I was taken aback by all the metaphors, but once I got used to them, it's, well, addictive. Nova Kane creates a flimsy balance between the characters' fragility and their toxicity.
Dagger and Noir are two sides of the same coin. I found them possessive, obsessive, and unhinged— but who doesn't love that? Their dark secrets drew me in, and I was as hooked as Blair.
The cliffhanger did its thing at the end. I can't wait for book two!
Ahhh I loved this! as a fellow raver and recreational user, I resinated so much with not just this book but the fmc. gawd I ate this up.
check your trigger warnings.
This is a dark why choose, mfm, rave romance, toxic love triangle, dream vs reality, dj mmc, drug dealer mmc, unhinged and numb fmc, drugs, feral jealousy, morally grey, three povs, no conventional hea, short/fast paced novella
O.M.G. Nova Kane WTF? I absolutely devoured Overdose!! This Novella is full of chaos, spice, murder, mystery and twists you won't see coming! I loved the vibe of this book, and how Nova makes you feel like you are at the rave with Blair, Dagger & Noir. I had to sit, and decompress for a few days after finishing this book. Because wow....
Overdose was amazing. When starting this book I had no idea what I was dancing into and Nova Kane didn't disappoint. Dagger & Noir pull you into the rave with their unhinged, possessive, and obsessive behavior. Then you add a love triangle with a crazy plot story. Oh and that ending was everything and more.
Sex. Drugs. And an insane amount of glitter. I never knew I needed a rave romance with a toxic love triangle featuring a DJ, a drug dealer, and a rave bae—but here we are. This book was a wild trip, both on and off the pages. Pretty sure Nova laced cyanide into the words, because the ending has me itching for the next book in this duet.
this book dug up some memories for me. I loved that Blair takes no shit , the jealousy between Dagger and Nior. the plot twist has me in the edge of my seat, needing more. Nova never disappoints with her books
OMG This book was so fucking good i am genuinely speechless. This book was a fever dream and mind fuck at the same time Blair, Noir and Dagger own my heart 🫶🏻💊💕 This book reminds me of the chase atlantic song called "HEAVEN AND BACK" and I loved every minute of it So fucking worth it!
Under 200 pages but feels like 400?! It was so packed full but didn't feel rushed. Total mindfuck. Just the perfect amount of dark romance but still an amazing plot! wow. I need the next asap😭😭😭
i literally got sucked into this story and it surprised me! i did not expect the twists and turns AT ALL but i loved it and i can’t wait for book 2 because that ending… also DAGGER is such a hot mess i was on my knees 😩
