From author C.S. Solarys comes a dark, slow-burn stalker mafia romance with enemies-to-lovers tension, forced proximity, and a dangerously obsessive, morally black antihero.I am haunted by the legacy of a madman. My father is a brutal, vicious capo dei capi who’ll do anything for a profit he doesn’t need.
And I want no part of it.
I’ve spent all my life planning my exit, building an empire that will crush his, and everything is finally aligned for my takeover, until the stunning Scarlett Morgana Greene ruins it just by existing.
Loathing her is mercy.
She’s also my best friend’s girl and my current assignment in Aurea Dominorum—The Golden Masters.
My eyes are on her.
Always on her.
Even when I see her tripping and doing things she’ll regret, things no one else should see, I don’t shut the door or tell my friend to take care of his girl.
okay the bones of this story feels great. I felt like there were chapters of information missing to build everything, just chunks of information not there. it was still intriguing, it just needed more in my opinion. ..like jumping gaps.. id still read the next. I like to possessive stalker vibe. the spice was great, the audio was fantastic and I honestly think that's what had me pulled in. for some reason this just felt more like a rough draft or layout
Midnight Assembly had dark academia vibes, a secret society, and a broody romance but the execution fell a little flat for me. The pacing felt uneven, and the writing came off a bit juvenile at times, which didn’t fit the darker tone the story was going for.
I also struggled with the romance; it felt rushed and forced, like the characters didn’t really get to know each other before supposedly falling in love. And the whole “secret society” aspect was confusing way too many people seemed to know about it for something that’s supposed to be hidden.
Cool concept, but I wanted more depth in the world-building and character development.
**I received this eARC from Happily Booked PR and the author C. S. Solarys. Thank you for this opportunity! All opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily. **
I enjoyed this book it’s not something I would read but very good. It’s part of 4 book series Golden Masters

This was a dark college / mafia romance. 4 best friends become Golden masters in their dangerous secret society, and each is allowed one request. Torre is vowed to help his best friend gain his request, marriage to Scarlett, except she has no idea about any of it or the dangers she is being dragged into. Torre's job is simple, to help her fall for Ry, and survive her upcoming trials. Scarlett instantly hates him, but as he's forced to protect her, stalk her and guard her, their feelings shift into something that could kill them all. Their society has laws, and their families expect loyalty. This is a dark forbidden romance, with high stakes threats, stalking, obsession, possession, and spice. The guys are red flags walking, and there are lots of twists.
My new obsession, and trust me I won't be shutting up about this book anytime soon. Also C.S. if you're reading this review I am very very patiently waiting for the next books! I need them all asap!
This was a great blend of Mafia, dark academia and dark romance. There were characters that i wanted to ask: why??? and some became my favourite almost immediately!
The book was living in my kindle library for some time since i got it during one of the stuff your kindle days, and i completely forgot about it until i got an ALC and then searched it up to see if i can read it and listen.
I absolutely ate this book up!!! I listened to the audio and Joe Arden and Michelle Sparks put on such stunning performances! The story kept me entertained all the way til the end and I wanted more! It’s definitely dark, so check your triggers. I am super excited for the rest of the series!
I enjoyed this audiobook. The story centers around a secret society with some slower world-building at the start, but once the story picked up and the spice hit, I was locked in! The main characters are true enemies to lovers! After some push and pull, I loved that Torre fell hard for Scarlett, there’s just something about a dominant man falling hard that does something to me! 😮💨 I’m excited to see what the next book holds. 🎧 The narrators are two of my favorites: Michelle, Sparks, and Joe Arden. As always, they did an amazing job bringing the story to life!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ **Midnight Assembly** by C.S. Solarys 🎧 Duet Narration: Michelle Sparks & Joe Arden *(ALC – honest feral thoughts incoming)*
Dark. Twisted. Obsessive. Slow-burn. Stalker-y. Secret society chaos. Basically… everything my morally bankrupt little heart craves.
This book wrapped me in shadows, whispered threats in my ear, and then lit the match. The vibes? Immaculate. Midnight Assembly delivers a deliciously unhinged, enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, morally black antihero situation that had me glued to my headphones.
Torre is exactly my type of problem: cold, calculating, dangerous, and allergic to feelings… until Scarlett exists in his orbit and suddenly the obsession switch flips. Watching him go from “she’s a complication” to “she is mine and I will burn the world” was deeply satisfying. Bonus points for MMCs who don’t kiss, don’t grovel, don’t soften… and yet end up worshipping their FMC anyway. That specific flavor of devotion? Inject it directly into my veins.
Scarlett held her own too. I loved watching her build her own sisterhood, find strength in her girls, and carve out space in a world designed to swallow her whole. The female friendships were one of my favorite parts, and I’m really hoping future books dive deeper into her circle, Torre’s “brothers,” and the other Kings.
The secret society aspect was chef’s kiss. You never quite know what’s real, who’s pulling strings, or what’s lurking behind the curtain—and every time I thought I had things figured out… lol nope. I *love* being lied to by a book in this way.
Audio-wise? Absolute slay. Michelle Sparks and Joe Arden in duet never miss. The tension, the growls, the restraint, the obsession in their performances elevated everything. This is definitely an audiobook-first recommendation.
Now… mild gripe time (because 4⭐️, not 5): I’m still confused about the whole Ryder situation. It felt like he folded way too fast, and his “demands” raised more questions than answers. Where is he going? What is he actually doing? What is his endgame? I NEED CONTEXT. I’m assuming this is intentional setup for future books, but my nosy soul is impatient.
Was this a literary masterpiece? No. Did it keep me wildly entertained and extremely turned on? Absolutely. Did it make me pause the audio to go find my husband for an afternoon intermission? Also yes.
Will I be continuing this series? Abso-freaking-lutely. 🖤🔥
If you love dark mafia, obsessive MMCs, secret societies, slow-burn tension, and morally questionable men doing morally questionable things… add this to your TBR immediately.
Listening to Midnight Assembly on audio was such an immersive experience and while it took a little getting into, was very much worth it. The narrators, Joe Arden and Michelle Sparks were perfectly cast for the main characters, bringing Scarlett and Torre to life in a way that felt natural, intense and emotional. Their performances fit the characters so well that it was easy to get completely absorbed in the story, especially around the half way point.
Scarlett is sharp, resilient and constantly navigating dangerous power dynamics she is unwittingly thrust into, while Torre carries a controlled menace that slowly reveals deeper layers as we listen. The tension between them is palpable and the audiobook format really amplifies that slow burn, enemies to lovers energy, and obsession that holds you! Joe Arden’s vocal range and accents are truly amazing and makes it easy to follow each character. Michelle Sparkes brings pure emotion to her role and makes you feel it all, the obsession, fear and anger.
The audio is in Duet style, my favourite type. The pacing was excellent, allowing the story to sink in and giving you time to fully take in what’s happening, which is important, because this is a heavy, dark story. Despite the weight of the themes, it’s incredibly addictive. Once it gets its hooks in, it’s hard to stop listening. I would however loved a little more explanation of the Aurea Dominorum from the story, as it took some time to understand hierarchy and things. I would have loved the last part of the book to be more detailed and go on for longer, I enjoyed it so much I wasn’t ready for the end! (I’m a thick book girl for a reason!) roll on book two!
The darker themes hit hard but they’re balanced by compelling character development and an atmosphere that keeps you hooked. It’s at these points the audio format and narrators elevate the experience, especially during emotionally charged or intense scenes.
C.S. Solarys does a great job crafting a dark, secretive world filled with moral gray areas, danger and pure obsession. The writing pulls you in and keeps you engaged, while balancing intensity with just enough restraint to make the story feel purposeful and not overwhelming.
Content warnings: dark themes, violence, power imbalance, explicit sexual content and morally questionable characters. If you enjoy dark romance with strong atmosphere, layered characters and a story that lingers, the audiobook version of Midnight Assembly is absolutely worth the listen.
This author is a first for me, however not the genre.
Because if you love a dark college, slow-burn stalker mafia romance with enemies-to-lovers tension, forced proximity and a dangerously obsessive, morally black antihero, then this story is definitely for you.
With family there are certain traditions that children must uphold, footsteps they must follow in the name of their father, within the walls lays a dangerous secret society, where they are governed by there own laws and they expect nothing by devout loyalty.
Our MMC Torre, is put in a position where he must help his best friend Ry with his request, marriage to our FMC Scarlett. They say what you don’t know can’t hurt you, but keeping her in the dark, opens her to dangers that she doesn’t see coming and what lays before her with no idea of what she is about to be dragged into.
All Torre needs to do is his job, help her fall from Ry and for Scarlett to survive her upcoming trials, but between them the hate is instant, yet when he is forced to guard her, in the process stalking her to keep her safe, their feelings for each other change the very dynamic of their relationship, engaging in something forbidden will have disastrous consequences for them both if they are found out.
Dark forbidden romance is a fan favourite, but when you’re dealing with threats, and high stakes ones at that, it takes the obsession and possession to a whole new level, and the spice, will have you fanning yourself in all the right places, and let’s not forget the walking red flags and the twist, it will keep you guessing from the first word to the last.
Highly recommend both the author and the book. Can’t wait to read what this author writes next.
I received an ARC. Therefore, I am submitting a voluntary review.
🎧 Format: Audiobook 🎙️ Narrators: Michelle Sparks and Joe Arden
🗣️Quote: “Sorrows are for yesterday.”
✍️ Non-Spoiler Audiobook Review: If you can think of a trope in the dark romance sub-genre, this book has it! All the best things in one place. Midnight Assembly is a dark romance revolving around a secret society that has all the dark academia vibes. The setting does take place in a special college, for all those nepo-unalivers. Performed in duet by two of my favorites, Michelle Sparks and Joe Arden had the banter, allurement, and entertainment mastered.
I enjoyed the idea of the story and the characters, even though I was left with questions. This story does not end on a cliffhanger (that is the only spoiler you’re getting), but there are things I’m left not knowing. Was this the author’s modus operandi all along? My guess is, yes, so now I must wait for book two.
I adored the FMC in this one! Scarlett was fierce and had somewhat of a brain. Her ability to banter back and forth was pure gold… plus, she loved the show ‘You.’ This is my kind of girl. I loved that she questioned almost everything yet went with the flow when times called for it… you know, like when her life depending on it! Sometimes you must know when to shut up, and she did. Falling for her sort-of boyfriends’ best friend, Torre … well, that’s just naughty ma’am, but I’m all for it. The Golden Master and the most feared guy on campus? He had that, ‘Touch Her and Die’ vibe down. Literally. Hello, THEO!!! 👀
Midnight Assembly is a slow burn-ish dark romance that has enemies to lovers, insta-love, he falls first, epic banter, pierced MMC and off the charts spice. The OTT MMC loves to cook (insert swoon), take care of his girl, and would literally burn the world down to find his girl, if she ran. In the end, this was a great listen that kept me intrigued and guessing.
Thank you, Blue Nose for the ALC.
Tropes: 🖤 Dark Romance ⛓️ Mafia x Secret Society 🖤 Dark Academia ⛓️ Enemies-to-Lovers 🖤 Morally Black OTT MMC
I wanted to love this book so much, and when it started, I truly thought I would. It pulled me in right away, and the storyline was there with just the right amount of spice. Unfortunately, the ending fell short for me, leaving me disappointed. Missing pieces led to many unanswered questions and some confusion. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll leave it at that. Even though I wasn’t 100% in love with this book, I still feel like I’ll jump right into book two when it comes out.
I received the ALC for this book, and, as always, Michelle Sarks and Joe Arden did a fantastic job. They are two of my all-time favorite narrators, and I will listen to just about any book they’re in. They consistently bring stories to life, whether I end up loving the book or not.
I really loved our FMC, Scarlett. I’m a sucker for a female main character who isn’t afraid to stab you, and her strong-willed, feisty personality was everything I enjoy. Torre was just as likable, and I had a feeling it wouldn’t take long for him to steal his best friend’s girl.
Midnight Assembly by C.S. Solarys is a dark, slow-burn stalker mafia romance featuring enemies-to-lovers tension, forced proximity, and a dangerously obsessive, morally black antihero set within a dangerous secret society.
The audiobook experience itself was excellent. Narrators Joe Arden and Michelle Sparks delivered strong performances, capturing both the darker tones of the story and the emotional intensity between the characters. Their pacing and clear character distinction made it easy to stay immersed, adding depth to scenes that might not have landed as strongly in print alone.
Where the story didn’t fully work for me was with the FMC. I struggled with how passive and vulnerable she often felt throughout the story. I tend to gravitate toward stronger, more decisive heroines, so I found myself wishing she would take more control of her situation and push back against the forces surrounding her. That disconnect made it harder for me to fully invest in her journey.
I will say the ending felt like it came out of nowhere and felt rushed to me. I wish we’d been given a few more chapters to fully develop the final showdown between Torre and his father.
Still, the intrigue, tension, and dark atmosphere kept me listening, and the narration significantly elevated the experience. Readers and listeners who enjoy darker romance with a more emotionally vulnerable heroine and morally gray dynamics will likely enjoy this one.
Overall, it’s a solid listen with standout narration, even if some character elements didn’t fully click for me.
I knew this would be dark, but… um…. wow. This was so messed up. But in a good way.
I was absolutely hooked when I saw the write before signing up for the advanced copy. Then I second-guessed when I downloaded it, because it seemed a bit dark for my tastes… Take note, there are a LOT of triggers… and for a person who doesn’t mind grey with morally grey heroes, this story was full of pitch black and thoroughly addicting. There’s smut, violence, drugs, betrayal… did I mention betrayal? On so many levels.
Torre ended up being surprisingly sweet… well, as sweet as a murderously unhinged mafia/secret society leader can be. Scarlett was a hard one for me. She appeared strong, and faced some pretty horrible situations, then had to deal with falling for her mortal enemy. They were a classic hate-at-first-sight - and both their reactions made me giggle. The plot certainly kept you guessing. Will they? Won’t they? And the love triangle with Ryder, the guy who wants ‘Scarnage’? I wish there was a little more interaction because I kind of wanted to see how (and whether) he would grovel.
Plenty of conflict (like a lot), crazy wannabe OW everywhere, secret societies, unwanted arranged marriages/engagements and a c.rappy family (his side)…
So, even though it was dark, and filthy, and unhinged, there were elements of sweet, too. Loved seeing their relationship evolve. I enjoyed.
This dark, slow-burn dark academia romance features a secret society and will eventually be four books each focusing on one of the four members of the Aurera Dominorum, The Golden Masters: Torre, Ryker, Caden and Maxim. Book 1 introduces the characters and tells the story of Torre and his assignment, Scarlett, who is promised to his friend, Ryker.
Torre is supposed to keep an eye his best friend’s intended and inform Ryker if Scarlett is getting into trouble or risking their relationship; however, instead of the hatred he feels for her, he quickly becomes obsessed and begins to stalk her for himself. When she steps out of line, he takes matters into his own hands and risks his allegiance to The Golden Masters and his friend to indulge in his obsession.
Scarlett and Torre’s chemistry is filled with all the tension that makes an enemies to lovers story sizzle. Written in dual POV, I loved Torre’s morally black character and found myself enjoying the chapters from his POV the best. The beginning of the book is heavy on world building and the balance between this and Scarlett and Torre’s story was at times unevenly paced. Overall, the plot was intriguing and I found the characters relatable. If you are looking for a dark, mafia stalker romance that includes forced proximity, a morally black antihero MC and a dangerous academic secret society setting, this one might be for you.
Midnight Assembly is a dark academia, secred society, forbidden romance. I liked the dark academia vibe, the idea of a school only for the super rich and corrupt. What left me a bit perplexed was the secret society, when as usual they give world domeneering powers to kids that are yet to graduate. It always feel a bit ridiculus, but still, it was ok within the story. The secret society bit started rather strong, with a redemption arc for the MMC that didn't really find it's conclusion in this book, and a brotherhood vibe that I hope will be expanded in the next books in the series.
The romance is a bit of a slow burn at first, with the MCs that pass from hateing each other to professions of love in the span of a couple of chapters. It felt rushed and out of context. Torre and Scarlet barely interact, and while I get why he might be infatuated with her, I don't get how she goes from lust to love in the span of a couple of days.
The italian was a bit butchered, both in phrases and names, both in cultural generaliztion, but that's probably something that only a native speaker will notice. Still, every time I saw the MMC name spelled wrong from the original Italian it took me a bit out of the story.
3.75 ⭐️ I enjoyed this book. The narration was done really well with Joe Ardon and Michelle Sparks.
This was a dark college with a secret society. I loved all the vibes this book gave off. The enemies to lovers with Torre and Scarlett was done well. This book really started off strong, but then after about 60% in it felt rushed. I loved how Torre and Scarlett relationship started and I loved watching them fall for each other. At first Torre had one simple job and that was supposed to help Ry fall in love with Scarlett but you could tell those two had nothing in common. You could feel the bond Torre and Scarlett even if they hated each other for a long time. I loved how protective Torre was with Scarlett. He really became obsessed with her especially once he started stalking her and texted her without her knowing it was him.
There was a “Where is my Wife!?” Moment I loved hearing from Joe Ardon. He did a phenomenal job like always. Michelle Sparks did an amazing job as Scarlett’s character as well.
Overall I did enjoy this audiobook, it keeps me on my toes and wondering what was going to happen next.
Tropes Stalker College Secret society Possessive Touch her & *** Enemies to lovers Slight suspense
Thank you Blue Nose and C.S Solarys for the the ALC!
Torre Tall dark and broody ... then you went and got all mushy ... it was so cute! I do wish you stayed more grumpy but that's just me (something is wrong with me 😆)
Scarlett Oh I wanted to like you, I understand the whole secret society was thrust upon you but how many women would want that 😆 🤣 😂 jk
This is the first book of the Golden Masters Series performed in Duet by the great Joe Arden & Michelle Sparks. They did phenomenal portraying this college dark romance.
So ... I loved and hated this book well not the book the fmc. This is so my own fault though I just tend to hate the fmcs and it's quite rare when I do like one. This has no bearing on the great Michelle she's one of my favorite narrators lol. I wanted to strangle the fmc for most of the book lol and kick the mmc for letting her get away with so much. 😆 Man do I sound like a woman hater 😆 I promise I'm not
All in all i really enjoyed the book and to be very honest wanted it more dark ... I think this is more light gray to me. Fast paced, Story line was good, went a little fast at the end but I didn't mind it.
Secret society Slow burn Enemies to lovers Dual POV Dark mafia Forced proximity
A part of a secret society, our mmc Torre is supposed to keep an eye his best friend's intended and inform Ryker if Scarlett is getting into trouble; but instead he becomes obsessed with her and starts st@lking her for his own needs. And When she steps out of line, he takes matters into his own hands and risks his allegiance to The Golden Masters and his friend to indulge in his obsession. Indulge in her. Scarlett and Torre's chemistry is filled with all the tension with that enemies to lovers, slow burn sizzle. It’s electric. Written in dual POV, I loved Torre's morally black character. Loved the world building, the plot was intriguing pulling me into the story and I found the characters relatable. If you are looking for a dark, mafia, stalker romance with tropes including forced proximity, a morally black antihero MC and a dangerous secret society setting, this one might be for you. I’d definitely recommend this read, I enjoyed this.
"I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.” Midnight Assembly is a dark romance featuring numerous potential triggers, including explicit content, violence, drug use, and multiple forms of betrayal. The narrative centers on Torre, a morally ambiguous mafia and secret-society leader, and Scarlett, a resilient heroine who faces significant adversity before becoming entangled with her enemy. Their relationship follows a classic adversarial dynamic, shifting from sharp initial conflict to a reluctant emotional connection. A secondary love triangle thread involving Ryder adds additional tension, though it receives limited development. The plot includes substantial conflict rivalries, secret societies, arranged marriages and engagements, and complicated family dynamics. The story blends intense, grim elements with moments intended to show emotional growth between the main characters. Overall, the book delivers a high conflict, dark romance narrative with themes of power, loyalty, and morally grey decision making.💛
This was amazing. Ate it right up. The secret society aspect was really cool but it’s a bit dark. I really loved how Scarlett and Torre’s relationship was genuine enemies to lovers. She was super naive when they first met and she got embroiled in this totally insane web of secrets and hidden agendas. Ryker kind of gave me the ick from a romantic standpoint and I was glad he didn’t get the girl in the end even though he was a good friend to Torre. I liked the glimpses of Maxim and Caden in this and I look forward to learning more about them. Torre was honestly super romantic even if he was completely unhinged about it. He’s a lot more honorable than you would expect for someone in his position. The spice in this was outrageously hot and there was so much of it once it finally got going. The tension between Torre and Scarlett was hot af. His little nickname for her is so perfect. I loved the way both of them changed over the course of the story but they both became stronger in different ways. This was a really incredible read and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Thank you to blue nose audio and the author for the ALC for this book! I had such a fun time with it!!
If you know me, I’m 𝗔𝗟𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗦 sucked into a secret society story!! Add Joe Arden and Michelle Spark’s amazing voices and I’m hooked 😍 their voices are just so gripping and perfect for this kind of story! Could not have chosen better in my opinion! It definitely added to my enjoyment 100%
There is 𝗔𝗟𝗢𝗧 to unpack with this story. The plot is perfect, gives you the secret society vibes, the messed up rituals and rules, and the messed up family ties! I loved Torre’s character so much. He has an agenda, but the way he hates Scarlett because she upends his plans is 😍😍😍 their hatred for each other had me on the edge of my seat, and when the hate turned to love, 𝗜. 𝗪𝗔𝗦. 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘. 𝗙𝗢𝗥. 𝗜𝗧 👏🏼👏🏼
This was my first book by this author and I look forward to seeing this series through!! If you love a college dark academia, secret society, st@lker vibe book, I recommend this!! But buckle up and pay attention. There’s a lot going on!
I really enjoyed this book! C.S. Solarys does a fantastic job building a rich, immersive world and fully realized characters. Torre is dark, broody, and relentlessly driven, while Scarlett is everything he wants...and everything he believes he can’t have. The tension between them is deliciously sharp. If you love dark academia, enemies to lovers, and a love triangle with a subtle mafia-esque edge, this one absolutely delivers.
The audio performance takes it to another level. Michelle Sparks and Joe Arden are electric together, playing off each other with incredible chemistry and emotional precision. Their performances add depth, weight, and heat to every interaction.
My only minor critique is about the pacing at the very end. It felt like after so much careful buildup, the finale shifted into a sprint to tie up X, Y, and Z. I would’ve loved a bit more room to breathe there. That said, it didn’t diminish my enjoyment overall. I was fully invested, thoroughly entertained, and I’m absolutely ready to dive into the rest of the series.
This one definitely took me a minute to settle into. The beginning throws a lot of information at you very quickly, and I was honestly a bit confused at first. I do think some of that world building could have been spaced out more but once everything clicks, it really clicks. I’m so glad I stuck with it. After the first few chapters the story becomes much easier to follow and the atmosphere really pulls you in. The world ends up feeling immersive rather than overwhelming, and the mystery slowly starts piecing itself together in a really satisfying way. I especially loved the MMC Torre, the obsession, the protectiveness, the “would burn the world for her” energy was top tier. And Scarlet was a great match for him; she wasn’t shy about her feelings and stayed honest and direct instead of dancing around them, which made their dynamic really enjoyable to read. Overall, the slow/confusing start was worth pushing through because the story, characters, and emotional payoff really delivered. A solid four-star read for me and one I’m glad I didn’t give up on early.
OK Besties... "Midnight Assembly" by C.S. Solarys isn’t your cute little enemies-to-lovers story. This is dark academia meets mafia obs€ssion with a side of “I’ll ruin you and love you for it.” Scarlett? She’s smart, haunted, and trying to outrun her father’s bloody empire. Torre? Oh, that man is pure danger wrapped in silk—her best friend’s man, her shadow, her sta£ker, her reckoning. The tension? Slow-burn h€llfire. The secret society vibes? Dripping in gold and sin. Torre’s obsession is chillingly intimate, the kind that makes you question your morals and still whisper one more chapter. If you love morally black antiheroes, corruption arcs, and the type of chemistry that burns through the page, "Midnight Assembly" is your next dark fix. Looking forward to this series.
My Ratings: ⭐ 4/5 ▪︎ 🥵 3.5/5
🥀 For my rating scale breakdown, head over to my Goodreads &/or Amazon profile! 🖤
Just finished Midnight Assembly by C.S Solarys. It’s a dark romance that gives L.O.R.D.S series vibes mixed with some mafia. It follows our MC Torre son of a powerful don at university of the worlds elite. Students from different powerful families. He meta his best friends girlfriend who just came to university a year after they did. Scarlett she is a firecracker not afraid to speak her mind so when she Mets Torre, they instantly hated each other. But Torre felt something else he started texting her from a burner just to figure her out. The story is good the spice is good. The only thing is that I felt like there was things missing like we don’t see how Scarlett finds out it was Torre she was texting which I feel like that could have added alittle bit more to the growth and connection between the 2. But overall it was a good book to read.
Hello, people! The book belongs to the dark college and mafia romance genre. Lately I have noticed a boom in mafia romance and I tend to like it. There have been quite a few creative and imaginative stories of this genre and I am particularly happy about it. I must warn you that the book deals with many harsh topics such as violence, prostitution and drugs. Therefore, if you do not like these, then do not read it. Of course, all these issues are topical and frequent but I can understand if you cannot read them. The story is well written and interesting. Also, the writing is tough, has tension and suspense. In addition, the world building has a very good structure and is quite dark. Finally, due to its almost cinematic plot I can say that I would like to see it in a movie.
Thank you very much to the author and Happily Booked PR for the eARCs!
C.S. Solarys is a new to me author. What an introduction to this author. This book had everything that I love...enemies to lovers, secret society, forced proximity, morally grey MMC, sassy FMC, witty banter, and spice! Yes, the romance might have been a slow burn one but one it hit, it hit hard!
Michelle Sparks and Joe Arden knocked it out of the park with the audiobook. I love the duet narration. So, so good. You need to grab this audiobook now and hit play!
Ry is fine but he has nothing on Torre. The chemistry that Torry and Scarlett share is what makes enemies to lovers one of my favorite tropes. The Golden Masters are a dangerous group. However, Scarlett showed that she was not afraid of them and they could push her all they wanted but with Torre by her side, she could stand up to them. I look forward to continuing this series.
This story starts off disorienting in that intentional “what is happening and why am I intrigued?” way, but once the pieces begin to click into place, it becomes impossible to stop. The tension ramps up, the darkness deepens, and the heat… whew
The dynamic is twisted, obsessive, and morally questionable in all the ways dark romance lovers secretly crave. It’s uncomfortable at times, but compelling enough that you lean in instead of pulling away.
And the narration? Elite. Michelle Sparks was fantastic, and Joe Arden’s voice should honestly come with a warning label because it does things to my brain chemistry. Together they bring every ounce of intensity, danger, and obsession to life.
If you like your romance dark, disturbing, and scorching once it ignites, this one absolutely delivers.
I listened to this audiobook and I honestly love the plotline and characters but sometimes it feels like some parts were missing especially with the banter and tension but I still enjoyed it throughout the entire audiobook. The narrators did a great job and I love how Joe Arden narrated the book, it feels like I'm in heaven and my ears are blessed with his voice. I just adore him so much because he's such a talented voice actor and I love how he brought the character to life even Michelle Sparks like damn. A perfect duo indeed. It's a good college dark romance and I'd say I can recommend it to those who loves secret society with a good amount of spice and enemies to lovers going on between the MCs
