I have a hard time coming to terms with this being part of the Devilman series. It continues to feel like a fanfiction of horny devilman lady lesbians.
Update 19 May 2019 To decide whether a two star rating was correct for this volume, I separated the volume into three sections and rated them individually based on my memory of how I enjoyed them.
Pages 1-50 Two stars Pages 50-125 One star Pages 125-195 Two stars
The cumulative rating is roughly 1.62 stars. I will leave the volume at 2 stars.
August 25, 2019 Update With the adoption of my new rating system, a two star rating is befitting. The original review and parts of the rating update conform to the new rating system. I do not agree with the ratings for the specific pages in the rating update, since they are broad. The accurate rating for pages fifty through one hundred and twenty five would be around 1.5 stars. I think the entire volume is closest to a 1.5 star rating. I will lower the volume's rating to one star. The flaws outweigh the OK content. The flaws would be the long fight scene in the bathroom as well as the later investigations. My inclings of dislike for the series, as noted in the original review in my slight distaste for the series feeling like a "fanfiction of horny devilman lady lesbians", lowers the volume's rating as well.
September 18, 2019 Update To digress on why I found the volume to be one star-rated, I did not enjoy the stories, and found the plots to be obtuse and formulaic. The first story featured a teacher-turned beast with more than a hundred pages for the fight scenes, but in the end the teacher is killed surprisingly. The premise offered more than what occurred; a teacher-beast using students as prostitutes quickly turned into Jun fighting the teacher for a hundred pages. The second story follows a teen idol who she and her mother are both beasts, and the sixty-five pages of the story could have been shortened to the beginning and ending, since the investigation and fight scene were fillers.
I am not sure how I feel about the one star-rating though. I have briefly skimmed the volume online and found the story to be alright, indicator of a two star-rating, but a skim is faster than having to skim through long fight scenes. I had colored the rating yellow but have changed it to red. A reread or closer inspection may offer an answer.
