Genevieve’s graduation party was supposed to be unforgettable, but not like this. One moment she’s surrounded by friends, music, and booze. The next, there’s blood on the carpet, a blackout, and she’s waking up in a hospital with no one believing her story. The house is condemned, her friends are gone, and a hooded figure with a knife, and something far from human keeps showing up. Now she’s caught between the world she knows and a place that shouldn’t exist, and she has no idea if she’s losing her grip… or if something far worse has found her.
Sereyna Vale is an aspiring author with a love for all things twisty, thrilling, and a little bit swoony. Happily married and a full-time stay-at-home mom (to both her kids and her beloved furbabies), she spends her days juggling family life with the wild worlds she creates on the page.
Chances are you’ll spot her with a Dr. Pepper or an Alani in hand, snacking on Flamin’ Hot Cheetos paired with whipped cream cheese... her not-so-secret writing fuel. A proud Libra and lifelong bookworm. She’s a devoted fan of Christine Feehan, Catherine Cowles, and Kelsie Rae.
In the future, readers can expect her books to span genres including Paranormal, Thriller, Romance, and Young Adult. All with unforgettable characters and page-turning plots.
When she’s not writing, she’s devouring her next read, dreaming up new stories, or hanging out with her family in between chapters.
I was given an e-ARC of The Crimson Veil by Sereyna Vale, and this review is entirely voluntary.
This story drags you into its atmosphere from the very first chapter. Genevieve’s night begins like any other—music, friends, and the familiar comfort of normal life—until a hooded stranger steps into her path and everything fractures. Suddenly she’s caught between worlds, navigating a realm stitched together with illusion, danger, and whispered lies.
The Veil is unsettling in the best way: doors that demand sacrifices, shadows that know your name, and choices that ripple far beyond what Genevieve can see. Every answer opens up three new questions, and every twist deepens the mystery.
I couldn’t look away. It’s eerie, gripping, and addictive, and I’m already eager to see where the darkness leads in the next installment.
I got beyond lucky to be chosen to receive an ARC for this book, and wow, just WOW! I cannot thank Sereyna enough for entrusting me early with her masterpiece.
Are you looking for a book that pulls you in from the very first chapter? Seriously, look no further. I was hooked as soon as I started reading. Most of the book, I either had my hand covering the bottom of the pages, or holding something over it so I wouldn't try to read ahead. I couldn't get enough.
The thrill of the frenetic energy, mixed with utter foreboding trepidation only describes a fraction of the feelings that I felt while reading. The hope? The betrayal? The angst? The yearning? The HEARTBREAK!? I could not get enough of this book, and the afterword gave me a the tiniest sliver of hope that the story will continue.
great book! I love the errieness and how the setting was described in each chapter. this book kept me on my toes and I didn't want to put it down! 5/5 stars
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC Review: Crimson Veil by Sereyna Vale
Format: eBook ARC Genre: Paranormal Thriller Tropes: Lost Souls, Guided Through the Afterlife, Slow-Burn Tension Vibe: Phantasma meets Enchantra with a pulse of danger.
Review:
Crimson Veil drops you straight into a realm where beauty and dread breathe the same air. It’s eerie, cinematic, and completely addictive, like watching a candle flicker just before it burns out.
Genevieve’s journey through the veil hooked me fast. Every page felt like a heartbeat; every shadow hid a secret. And Marrow, our hooded, grim-reaper-adjacent guide, radiates that delicious tension of someone who’s done wrong but still might be the only one who can make things right.
There’s no spice here, only the slow-burn ache of connection, and honestly it’s better that way. The restraint makes every glance, every near-touch, sting. The pacing had my anxiety spiking in the best way, like a thriller threaded through with grief and longing.
Sereyna Vale builds atmosphere like a symphony, layer by layer until you forget to breathe. When I finished, I immediately wanted to dive back in and look for every clue I’d missed.
Final Thoughts:
Perfect for readers who crave gothic tension without the heat, emotional stakes that cut deep, and worlds that hum with supernatural consequence.
I was lucky enough to receive an e-read ARC copy of this book. This review is being left from my honest thoughts, and no, Im not being paid for it either 😂.
Where to begin. If you like actual paranormal thrillers, this book is a MUST READ! The way Genevieve's story is told is just like a punch in the face. This girl went through basically literally hell, an alternate reality if you will. It took me a while to wrap my mind around the twists and turns.
Gen was a solid written character. Typical teenager brain, but the way she handles herself is really well thought out once she realizes what's happening to her. And out illustrious masked man??? YES PLEASE!
I can honestly say, I will absolutely read this book again, and look forward to the physical "Trophy" copy! I also and looking forward to the next part of the story line too!
I think we’ve fallen into a distorted wizard of oz of sorts with this one. Instead of following the yellow brick road, we’re fighting our way down a dark shattering obsidian road.
This one is a bit tricky for me to review. I greatly enjoy the writing style and can easily see how talented the author is, but the book itself is a bit disorienting. The reader is left in the dark, confused, searching, just as the main character is. It feels intentional, as you have to keep reading in order to make it make sense. The story feels very much like you jump in right in the middle of the action without understanding the backstory or really what’s going on until the main character also finds out. It’s a unique style of storytelling and it definitely kept me reading because I had to find out if we actually got to know “why” and “what” at some point.
I want to say Thank You Sereyna Vale for letting me be apart of your ARC Team 💕
One of my favorite lines(quotes)in Crimson Veil is: “You were never afraid of the dark, Genevieve. You were afraid of the light going out and finding nothing waiting for you in it.”
Genevieve is an incredibly a strong woman. She was celebrating a big moment in her life at a party. Then she was thrown into a twisting mirror of worlds and other worldly entities of haunted cities with hooded figures.
Marrow is this hooded figure. He is morally grey, reminds you of the grim reaper. Guides Genevieve thru the Veil.
The plot twist really hits hard. I have to say I’m not usually a fan of slow-burn but Genevieve and Marrows the tension between the two was perfect 😍
Sereyna your writing ✍️ flows so beautifully, the pace of the book was page turning. And Really Sereyna this is your debut novel I’m so excited to read more of your books 📚 in the future 💕
I had the pleasure of receiving an e-advanced readers copy of the crimson veil by Sereyna Vale! I’m leaving this review voluntarily and with my honest opinion. 🖤
“You were never afraid of the dark, Genevieve. You were afraid of the light going out and finding nothing waiting for you in it.”
If you like paranormal thrillers dive into the veil where echoes whisper, shadows tempt, and darkness is always waiting to claim a piece of you.
Genevieve’s world is completely turned upside down and inside out. One moment she’s at a party with her friends, and the next, a mysterious hooded man appears…and reality starts to unravel.
She’s drawn into an alternate realm filled with shadows, secrets, and deception…where nothing is ever as it seems.
Each door demands a price, and every debt must be paid in full.
Every time you think you’ve figured it out, another twist knocks you off balance. I was hooked from start to finish and already cannot wait for the next book!
It took me longer than it should have to realize what this book reminds me of, Fullmetal Alchemist! I loved this whole idea of a literal psychological thriller as if you're either in your own mind, almost but not really, and questioning what is your self or mimics the truth of your self, real self or not. The way that the Veil acts reminds me of the Truth in Fullmetal Alchemist in the sence that its the truth but not: its you, but not: its what you want, but its not. (if that makes any sence at all lol whether you, the reader of this review, has seen the show or not.) This book will have you questioning who is the better choice, what choice is the better choice, and just what the heck is going on and going to happen. This was absolutely a fun read, cannot wait for more.
WOW!!!! Crimson Veil was a perfect book in the thriller department. It had me hooked from the first chapter. It kept me needing to know more with every chapter. It was so detailed that I could picture what every chapter looked like as I was reading it. It was creepy and thrilling.
I definitely cannot wait to read the next book because it left me desperately needing more. Gen is an incredibly strong character. She handles everything pretty well as for me I would have been freaking out and probably passed from a heart attack 😂...but no seriously she is an amazing character and built strong.
The plot was great and the whole book was written beautifully. If you love paranormal thrillers this book is a must! You want shivers and what the f's you will love this book!!
I had the honors of being an ARC reader on this and oh man am I GLAD I got the opportunity to read this book.
This is such a great thriller book with twists and turns you would never expect. This book had me reading it as fast as I possibly could with a toddler at home. Even after finishing, my mind is still going back to this book!
If you come across this book and need a push to read it, DO IT, the author has such an incredible way with writing that really makes you visualize some things.
Be sure to check the trigger warnings prior to reading, Sereyna did such a wonderful job making sure to include it all.
Amazing job to Sereyna on this book, and thank you so much for allowing me to be an ARC reader. 💕
Wow! This book had my attention from the first page to the very last. The twist and turns the story takes will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. The fmc is one that you can relate to and you as a reader can feel every emotion she is facing when a tough decision has to be made. The author wrote in such a detailed way that you can easily see what the characters do. I loved this book and can’t wait to see what the next book has in store and what else this rising author brings next.
This book was addicting from the start. I couldn’t stop. It was also my very first thriller ever and I loved it! I couldn’t believe this author was debut! You would have thought they’ve written 50 books before with how amazing it is written. It is a fast paced book without feeling like it’s rushed as well.
Crimson Veil by Sereyna Vale is a mesmerizing read! The atmosphere is rich and haunting, the characters feel vivid and alive, and the slow burn tension kept me turning pages ALL night. Vale’s writing is lush and immersive, pulling you straight into a world that’s as beautiful as it is chilling. A must read for fans of dark fantasy and gothic romance! I can’t wait for more!
Enthralling paranormal thriller that keeps you turning the pages quickly. This book had a captivating plot, and good character development. This was outside of my normal thriller but I enjoyed the supernatural elements in this book.
This books makes me think of something someone would imagine during a bad trip. Very confusing and didn’t find myself caring about either main character enough to be engrossed in this battle with a veil that was evil but was really just a part of them
If you love paranormal thriller you'll love Crimson Veil. This book was a 5 star read for me. I had the pleasure of reading this book early! This book had everything you could ask with twist and mystery!
First, I want to thank Sereyna for the opportunity to be an ARC reader!
This was my first suspense/thriller style of book, and I dove right in not knowing what to expect!
The story was very fast paced, which is new for me, but once I caught pace I was set.
Her writing gave me such an immersive experience, I felt like I was inside a suspense movie. Each moment I could see through Genevieve's eyes, and feel the uncertainty of her choices along the way. That made it feel REAL to me. It wasn't about the carbon copy of what a character would/should do, it's what you would do when your life is turned upside down. The falling, not knowing where you're headed, the thrill of not knowing what's coming next.
I am looking forward to getting Marrow's story and see what is unraveled next!
I just finished this and I’m still reeling! The story hooked me from the first page, but it was the ending that left me wide eyed and a little bit wrecked; in the best way. The twists were unexpected, the emotions hit hard, and the author managed to leave me both satisfied and desperate for the next book at the same time...
The writing flows beautifully, and the pace kept me turning pages faster than I meant to. This is one of those reads that lingers in your head long after you close the book.
I can’t wait to see where the story goes next. Highly recommend for anyone who loves an immersive, emotional ride that keeps you guessing until the very end. #fivestars #waiting
One minute Genevieve is celebrating a big moment in her life, and the next she’s thrown into an unexpected adventure not by choice. She’s forced to navigate a web of truths and lies... but are the truths really true, and the lies really lies? As she uncovers long-buried family secrets, Genevieve must decide what to believe.
Sereyna did a fantastic job keeping readers guessing from start to finish!
An incredible debut Novel!! I feel like she’s been writing for years. This book has me entrapped from the moment I started. It’s spooky and keeps your mind racing without needing a break. Finishing this is one sitting would have been incredible easy if I hadn’t needed to work! I can’t wait for more to come
If you love thriller books that keep you guessing, you will love Crimson Veil. Genevieve’s life gets turned upside down when she’s thrown into this paranormal world of mystery and puzzles where nothing is what it seems. Every time you feel like you know what’s going to happen, another twist gets thrown in and your world is turned upside down. I can’t wait o see what else Sereyna has in store for the next book!!!
First, thank you to Sereyna Vale for trusting me to do an arc read! This is my first time doing so and I’m so happy I got the chance!
I have never read a paranormal thriller book before. Never stepped into that genre at all. However, I decided to take this on and let me tell you, I loved it!
Our girl Genevieve is a trooper! I’d like to think I could handle situations like she did, but honestly, I think I would have started losing my mind.
It has great plot twists and surprises around every corner! I love a book that has a fast paced story because it keeps me turning those pages and Crimson Veil has that! The emotions are felt. The writing flows so smoothly.
It doesn’t have spice which is a nice change of scenery. But, it does have that slow burn and it kept me wanting more!
It’s a great moody read for me. Gives me this beautiful, dark, gothic vibe and I devoured it! Book two needs to be here already!
A Haunting, Vivid, and Completely Addictive Paranormal Thriller
Crimson Veil isn’t just a book you read — it’s a world you fall into. From the very first chapter, the author pulls you straight through the veil and into a realm so vividly described it feels like the shadows themselves are reaching for you. Every detail, every sensation, every eerie moment is crystal clear. You don’t just imagine the scenes… you experience them.
What I loved most is how immersive the writing is. The atmosphere is rich and haunting in the best way, and the tension never lets up. You can practically feel the shift when the veil opens — that chilling mix of wonder, danger, and adrenaline. It’s rare for a book to paint visuals this clearly, but Crimson Veil does it effortlessly.
The plot twists hit hard, the pacing is spot-on, and the emotional moments land exactly where they need to. It’s dark, it’s moody, it’s gripping — the kind of story that keeps tugging at you even when you step away. And the characters? They’re layered, brave, and beautifully human in the middle of all the chaos.
If you’re looking for a paranormal thriller that crawls under your skin and refuses to let go, this is absolutely the one. I devoured it, and I can’t wait for the next installment. Crimson Veil is a must-read for anyone who loves their thrillers immersive, atmospheric, and unforgettable.
Genevieve is living her best life, hanging out at a party, next thing she knows, she is in a strange world of darkness, shadows and secrets of the veil. Marrow is a hooded figure, similar to the grim reaper, he guides her thru the veil. But can she trust him? Will she be able to tell truths from deceptions and discover all the secrets hidden in the veil? I'm normally not a fan of slow burns but the tension built between Genevieve and Marrow was perfect. I loved it!!! Such an amazing paranormal romance/thriller. I can't believe this is your debut novel, I cant wait to read more of your books!!
